My life unfolds behind the curtains of London's exclusive clubs, where I hold the city's elite in the palm of my hand. The only thing I value is power, and secrets are my currency.
And then I meet her. The mysterious girl with the poison eyes. She turns the tables on me and swipes the power right out of my hands. And then she runs, thinking she got away with it.
She thinks I won’t catch her—but she’s wrong. I’ll stop at nothing to find her and punish her for her hubris.
Willow Lynch - The Shadow
Revenge isn’t just my duty—it’s my passion. My goal is to settle the score against those who've wronged me; every rich, worthless man I crush in my path is just a bonus.
Then I meet Luca Fletcher-Lowe. Despite his reputation, Luca is no different to any other rich man: just another worm to crush under my boot.
Maybe adding insult to injury and leaving him bound and injured in a hotel room was a mistake. But devil or not, I’m not scared of Luca Fletcher-Lowe.
If he wants to hurt me, he’ll have to catch me first.
i’m conflicted on how to feel about this. on the one hand, i loved the toxicity and angst this brought forth. it kept me hooked throughout and i practically devoured it—i read it in like one sitting, and for a book this long, it’s a huge surprise to me. this was so much fun and gave all the deranged insane vibes i was looking for. on the other, i had quibbles which took me out of the book and pissed me off.
“you drew first blood,” he breathes, looking back up at me. “i commend you for that. for every drop of blood you drew, i’ll draw ten.” “and i suppose this is a promise, not a threat?” “it’s an oath.” i roll my eyes. “so dramatic.”
willow lynch. she truly sounded like the new lana myers to me at first with her *list* if you know you know. she cracked me up with her morbid sense of humor and the way she was a bisexual queen, we love it. the way she actually held her own with luca and went head to head with him was perfection. at the same time, her vulnerable side was sickeningly sad and all those men she maimed? they had it coming. i admire her so much for who she is and the way the only pain she allows herself to feel is what she inflicts on herself.
“when i take you out on my arm, lynch, it’ll be my bruises around your throat, not someone else’s.” “that’s the creepiest proposal i’ve ever heard in my life,” she sneers. “consider therapy, luca.”
luca fletcher-lowe. he has Issues. he literally came so fast once only because willow told him “you’re nothing more than a worthless, pathetic worm. good for nothing but getting stepped on.” like i said, issues. but i didn’t mind at all. he debased himself for willow so many times later on in the book, lost control of his emotions around her when he didn’t feel anything at all, and i love him for that. i adore him for him, how he rarely feels anything strong but he always felt things with willow—whether it was annoyance, arousal or amusement. i felt like sadly we couldn’t get into the depth of his character too much and into who he was, however, which i needed to truly love him as a character ALONE.
willow and luca. they’re so fucking unhinged i was cackling for most part of this book. like the way they truly could not give less of a shit about each other for half the book?? truly admirable. this is what i call true dislike. willow obviously held a lot of disdain for luca and found him literally disgusting while luca felt both antipathy and some amount of intrigue and arousal. both of them were complex and twisted characters and yet they fit the broken parts of each other remarkably well. i loved the way the development of their relationship happened. the way she showed him her scars later and showing their bellies—vulnerability—to each other, and he answered her by kissing them and telling her they were beautiful? they do fit each other. 60% and they still truly loathed each other’s guts while also being addicted to each other’s presence and trying to hurt each other? wow. the hate didn’t go away, it just shifted into something like codependence and something that seemed and looked a little like love. like need. like they belonged only to each other and she’s his and he’s hers and there’s nothing else. they come back for each other and they’re such a crazy couple i like it <3
special mention to nadine and woodrow for defending luca with everything they had in them while also being marvellously professional!!! it’s a feat in itself while knowing what he does. the way they were hell-bent on “saving” him from his “hooligan girlfriend” aka willow? bruh i—both luca and willow are hooligans who belong together and i’m glad they finally got to see that.
“if your death was in my hands, lynch, i’d make it the most beautiful fucking death.” “you’re so in love with me.” i roll my eyes. “it’s so goddamn sinister. can’t you go back to hating me?”
the starting note itself gave me a certain vibe. “this one is for all the man-haters who don’t let their misandry stop them from getting laid. fuck men—but also, fuck men.” i was immediately interested and sat up cause hell yeah i’m here for that. but the thing is, i didn’t care for the sex scenes and willow and luca’s dynamics in those at all. if there’s one thing i despise, it’s the body-betraying syndrome. it’s disgusting. bye. especially since willow is portrayed to be this “strong” woman and i know she’ll never actually bring herself down to those depths to beg for an orgasm because of her body’s “needs” cause she’s not the type to be ashamed of what her body is feeling. like fine, you get wet because your captor is fingering you!! no biggie!! use that against him because he’s feeling aroused for the first fucking time by you!! but no, instead she starts going all “oh my fucking god why’s my body reacting this way to him, it’s not supposed to” BLAH BLAH BLAH. luca also felt like he was losing control around of his senses around her so why not use that instead of blabbering about how her body didn’t feel like her own when he used his tricks around her? i hated that. i would’ve lowered the rating even more if this bugged me too much tbh but i’m happy willow actually got him back for a lot of things, especially in the last part when luca was tormented and suffering because of her. i know people hated the third-act because they felt willow’d gone too far but in my opinion it serves luca right. he did kidnap her and force her into a “hunt” after all. this rant is way too fucking long but godDAMN i hate the body-betraying syndrome. takes me right out of things. confusing power dynamics with sex is so icky like i need both the mcs to lose control in the bedroom at some point, not one always using that power over the other to make them feel inferior.
“you are in control, lynch. of me. through me. how do you not see this? don’t i fucking drop to my knees for you? don’t i debase myself for you, crawl around in the mud for you? have i not killed for you? you didn’t have to get your hands dirty because i got mine dirty so you wouldn’t have to. i put an arrow through two men’s hearts because they dared lay their hands on you. destroyed mcconnolly so you would be free. executed thornton because you willed it. i didn’t drive the plane or take it from you, i am the fucking plane! i’m the fucking knife in your boot, and if you needed me to be, i’d be the bullet in your gun, the strychine in your needle. your weapon, under your control, because you fucking—” i stop to hiss air into my empty lungs. “because there’s nothing but you inside my fucking head, because there’s nothing i can even imagine wanting aside from you, your attention, your satisfaction, your pleasure.”
i need both parties to be pathetic begging messes at some point and i’m glad that happened here though. for all the embarrassment luca had put willow through and for how much willow surprised luca by going through it with cheer and being resilient as hell, willow humiliated him enough and i liked seeing him suffer the way he did. imagine this being a line from the book at 73% — “luca is fuckable, i suppose, in the way a robot might be fuckable. like you know it’s wrong to want to fuck it, but you still want to do it.” — help?? 😭 this book was a hoot. seriously fuckin hilarious. anywayss the third-act was perfect vengeance in my opinion. luca’s pride was truly in tatters and yet he didn’t care cause it was willow and all he needed in his life was her, after thinking his life was just a void, a big dark hole of nothingness. she destroyed him in the end and i love her for that 🫠 he became so desperate her and i was there for it. my issue is, he starting begging for scraps of her affection too late in the book. i get that he only deigned to do it when he realized willow was leaving him because before that he thought that willow staying with him forever was a done-deal (delulu man). but i’m upset there’s no progression in that because it came from him wanting to destroy her and put her pieces back to him needing her and yet i didn’t get to see the how behind when it happened.
i need to complete the rest of this series and i’m pretty sure i will sometime, at least for sev and anaïs. i love the spearcrest gang and need to see more of their interactions. sophie’s glimpse here? i liked how ambitious and hardworking she was, and how earnest she was with her job. also i loved how evan thought she was the sun around which everything revolved. i’m not one for the bully romance that happens in book one though so i doubt i’m gonna read that, even if i savor their glimpses in the other books. i am excited for aurora’s next series though. two formidable candidates, two prestigious jobs, one deadly library? probably dark academia vibes?? i am so here for it. aurora pls give me all the obsessed man vibes and deliver perfectly next time 🤲
safety: (i rarely do this but i had to for this book, it was A Ride // spoilers!! ⚠️)
luca: his dick literally doesn’t work and hasn’t for a long time ‘til he meets willow lmao because he’s never gotten excited by anything like he had with willow. he only got aroused when there was something dangerous around him and willow was definitely a danger 😋 back in high school/when they were at spearcrest, i do remember him being a huge fuckboy but that changed later i guess because sex lost its luster for him. sex has never been about wanting or fucking anyway for him, it was only about power and that’s why he didn’t care for it after a while because he already had power in spades through CHOKE (his club dealing in the dark and dirty secrets and trade). he never looks at any woman except willow after seeing her cause no one else can get his dick up and it’s only her for him after that❗ 😌
willow: she fucks around quite regularly and tried 2 times even when she was *with* luca (not in that sense yet but she “belonged” to him after signing a contract) but luca stops her because he’s possessive of what he thinks belongs to him. after the third-act which she initiated, she has sex frequently and even enjoys (implied) but nothing ever compares to luca. like i said, i love it when a man stays devoted but i need some sort of two-sided devotion and with aurora’s books idk how far we get that 😭 i do appreciate the role-reversals though because generally it’s always the fmcs groveling and being celibate so it’s nice seeing a change where even after the third-act, luca is visibly miserable and goes to any lengths to try finding willow and embarrasses himself (in his eyes) with the way he’s so gone for her.
third-act: luca confessed he loves her and brings the body of the man who’d been haunting her memories ever since she was young (richard) cause he abused her when she was young. man was literally on his knees begging for her affection cause he knew he’d never get it the normal way so he had to prove it somehow and that’s why he started torturing richard FOR HER, but she didn’t accept that LOL. willow became so angry that he stole her revenge that she left in the middle of the night after revealing all the dirty secrets that were hidden by luca to the press and vanished. he didn’t care about any of that, he only wanted willow back because that’s the only thing he needed in life. it’s giving warner with his devotion 🤭 he even says “i’ve been starving ever since you left, and i can’t eat. i can barely sleep. how much longer must you punish me with this exile?” like fuck. the amount of begging he did in the end for him is nuts and i ate it up.

REVIEW
Let me start by thanking Aurora Reed for the ARC because this book made my entire month and it was one of my most anticipated reads this year. She's such an underrated author, and trust me when I say her writing game is unmatched. This is a very talented and kind human.
Luca-Fletcher-Lowe is known as the Novus heir, fencing champion, and skilled archer, and people often refer to him as a psychopath. One night during Halloween, he crosses paths with Willow Lynch, an intriguing woman who's out for revenge. Disguised and using a fake name, she tricks him and leaves him tied to a bed in their first encounter, then he vows to find her again to punish her. Months pass, and Luca tracks down Willow, presenting her with an unconventional proposition: since she's the only thing interesting him at that moment, she will be living with him, be his fake girlfriend, and show up on social occasions, and he gets to hunt her on his property once a month until he's bored and they can end the contract. Faced with limited options, Willow reluctantly agrees. What she didn't count on is that their heated arguments and physical blows would spark a chemistry between them, and hell would freeze before he got bored of her.
I need some praise for my man, my husband, my fav spearcrest boy Luca, I knew he would never disappoint. I do understand people who hate him because of his actions in the previous books (I actually don't), but he's just a silly little obsessed psycho in this one who would do anything for his girl. He lives up to his reputation as a freak, but he does have a caring spot in him. My biggest surprise is that I loved him more than Willow because I was 99% sure my favorite would be her. However, I feel like he wasn't explored as a character as much as Willow was, I wanted more depth for my boy, his family, his heart condition, his fencing, and his archery, the story focused so much on Willow's trauma and revenge that Luca ended up not having the same spotlight.
When the author said Willow would give Luca hell, she wasn't exaggerating, Willow indeed makes everything hard for Luca until the last pages. She's a complex character, her past is intriguing, she's grumpy and stubborn, but also so smart, has a playful and flirty side, and funny hobbies that make her so likable to me. But, most of what I disliked about this book was because of her, I can't stop myself because I AM bitter for what she did to Luca, I AM bitter that she kept repeating he wasn't worthy of her because, throughout this entire book, he saved her, unknowingly or not. By the end of this, I just wanted Luca to let her go and be with me because I would never.
As for Luca and Willow as a couple, they delivered the banter, the angst, and even the soft scenes because we had Luca bathing Willow TWICE, his tenderness toward her is something that got me kicking my feet in the air. Their smut was so good as well, I just have no complaints when it comes to the romance.
"I’ve been starving ever since you left, and I can’t eat. I can barely sleep. How much longer must you punish me with this exile?”
I love to give my favorite ships a Taylor Swift song that matches their energy or a specific quote, so Luca and Willow's song is definitely exile because of that ending.
Now, my criticism: 1. The third-act breakup, I don't mind that it happens because it makes the book more angsty, I just wish there was a better reason for it to happen and that it was solved differently and more maturely from Willow's side (again, she's childish), but I do get that she was angry and maybe I disliked it because I'm a Luca stan and in my eyes, my boy didn't deserve that. I also didn't mind the Colin scene because Luca and she weren't sleeping together back then, but her going away for 6 months and fucking other people? I don't even care if she was mad and trying to forget him, you write this a few pages before making the couple go back together but you don't realize you already killed the couple. (It did kill lucawillow for me a bit, I'm bitter about it.)
2. The hunts, I HATE this plot and that's something that I was turning a blind eye to so I could enjoy the couple without the stress.
Goodbye Evan, Sophie, Rose, Noah, Séverin, Anaïs, Zachary, Theodora, Iakov, Zahara, Luca, and Willow, goodbye Spearcrest Kings, it has been a fun ride and now it's time to be seated for "The Last Grand Archivist".

I thought I was going to die from laughter reading this book. I will say I enjoyed this book a lot, their dynamics, bickering, and antics were literally so fun to read! But… I did have some “issues” or rather things I hoped this book would’ve had or done.
Thank you so much to Aurora Reed for the arc! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review your book! I was literally screaming from excitement when I got the email.

He really is a “sick fuck” as our fmc Willow tends to call him (but she’s like that too if not twice as worse, they’re literally a match made in heaven) He gets turned on when Willow hurts him or insults him. She could literally be stabbing him and be throwing the harshest insults his way… but my guy will literally get turned on and get off so fast. So yeah he’s got some “problems” but I literally loved him so much, in the other books you can see he’s known for being in control of himself and his emotions but with our fmc he lost control so fast. We love when our men are obsessed with their girls, literally kill for her, and possessive of her. HE KILLED HER ENEMIES FOR HER AND THE PEOPLE WHO HURT HER, what a gentleman. I wished I knew more about his childhood or past, cause something was obviously there. Especially his parents cause during a gala scene in the book, they made a bet or something where it might end with Willow fucking his dad. His mother KNEW his father might take her on the dance floor then and there and she said it’s a test to see who would lose “control.” Obviously some issues stem with their family because they all have this “control” thing. I NEEDED TO KNOW MORE.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐋𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡 I’m obsessed with her. What a strong and badass bitch. I loved her so much. She went through so much in her childhood, but those scars that she had from her trauma… she embraced them and used them as a reminder to slay her enemies. I just wanted to give her a hug. She’s cold and ruthless but there’s a reason behind it, I honestly just wanted to give her the biggest fucking hug cause she was so strong. The fact that she didn’t hesitate to take Luca head on was what made me love her so much. I swear to god their banters and antics literally had me dying. I couldn’t breathe everytime they threw insults at each other. I thought I was going to die from laughter. I loved how she challenged him, and played him at his own game. She’s so resilient, she makes sure to hold her own and won’t let anyone see her in any bad state, she’ll take on the heaviest of storms like a warrior. I’m obsessed with her.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 I WAS DYING FROM LAUGHTER. I COULDN’T BREATHE FROM THESE CRAZY MOTHERFUCKERS. Let me tell you, I did get confused when they fell in love because they literally HATED each other's guts in the beginning. I thought they were going to strangle each other at some point in the beginning. They hated each other more than 75% of the book, especially Willow, but Luca I saw some lust and attraction was there for him. Was it reciprocated? That's the problem, I mostly saw the obsession and longing from Luca but not much from Willow. With her it was mostly if she was attracted to Luca or just I guess lust. Which is why I wished it was more equal on both sides, I like pining and the men being obsessed with their girls, but I wished it was the same on the other too (equal pining I guess) If you read it, you’ll get what I mean.
It’s the fact that he went on a little getaway vacation because he couldn’t handle Willow anymore. He needed to get away from her, she was too much for him 💀These two were so fucking funny.
𝐏𝐎𝐕 𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐭: Luca while Willow is running scared shitless from him.
The fact that it always backfires on him is the funnier part.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷ 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 How Nadine and Woodrow put up with these two’s craziness is beyond me. Woodrow I’m sure is rethinking his life choices and Nadine is just tired after witnessing Luca’s aftermath from straight on challenging Willow. To the breakup... I think it was a bit too much of what she did to Luca. But at the same time I don’t blame her, he did put her through a lot. He wanted to have her affection so he literally killed and tormented someone that haunted her past for her, but she didn’t like that… 💀 I felt kinda bad for him, poor guy and his ego, especially after she proceeded to pretty much reck his business and reputation. Like go off girl but at the same that was pretty harsh... but I guess Willow needed it to vent out her anger since it was her revenge he took, and all the things he did put her through… though I will say the breakup was fine. It let me see Luca’s obsession and devotion for her which I guess is a good thing that came out of this random break up. Overall this was a good book but I did wish some things like Luca’s past was spoke on more so I could know what the fuck was up with him.
perfection can never be achieved, but aurora reed’s ability to bring men down to their knees for a woman comes pretty damn close. it’s simp nation in here always and i’m very much here for it.
For all my dark romance readers, this one is for you🏹🖤 SIX. M*THERF*CKING. STAR. READ.
The final book in the Spearcrest series matched the energy of its predecessors. I swear every book in this series is an absolute hit. Aurora Reed's writing is always flawless and alluring from beginning to end. Spearcrest Devil more than delivered, it completely exceeded my expectations and left me craving more. Luca and Willow are both very complex characters - broken and twisted in their own ways and by their history, but also powerful and determined to make the world and each other bend to their will. Their banter (aka insults) was so out of pocket and hysterical, always referring to the other's respective mommy/daddy issues (so funny). Don’t be fooled - this is not a lovey-dovey love story (review trigger warnings). Luca is a masochistic psychopath (but surprisingly had some poetic shit to say!) and Willow is an unhinged ball of chaos (bow down to my bisexual queen), but they were a match made in hell. The perfect ending to the Spearcrest world, the characters and their stories are forever embedded in my soul!
Thank you to the author for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.
-- Pre-Read Hype: The CRUMBS we've had of Luca leading up to this point, I am so ready for his book!
This is my favourite book in this series by far. I loved Willow with all my heart, she´s so strong and so amazing and i just want her to be my friend. She went through some tough things that made her the way that she is. Willow and Luca are a hot couple and they are each others devil. I love everything about them, i thought that nobody will pass Theo and Zack but they prove me wrong. Tropes: - enemies to lovers - slow burn romance - billionaire x poor girl - fake-dating - forced proximity - boy obsessed x manhater - who hurt you?
I received and Arc in exchange of an honest review.
As I was with book 4 in this series, I’m underwhelmed.
Since book 1, I was highly anticipating Lucas’s book because I have a thing for the “broken bad boys” of the dark romance book world, but coming out of his book, I don’t feel much of anything. This book wasn’t bad per se, but it also wasn’t that great.
Compared to the other books in this series, this story was far less repetitive which is a good thing but it also wasn’t much of an “entertaining” plot. I found that I disliked Willow just as I did Zahara (still hate Zahara more though if I’m honest) and because there was a fair amount of degradation and hate involved in this book, I didn’t feel much of a connection between Willow and Luca. Don’t get me wrong, I loveee the enemies-to-lovers trope and degradation in my books, but even when the two were supposedly “in love” with one another, I still felt like Luca fully loved Willow far more than she ever could to him. The issues I have with this book are similar if not the same as I did for Iakov and Zahara’s book which sucks to say.
“Wherever you go, whatever you do, whoever you fuck, Lynch, you’re mine, you will always be mine. Contract or no contract.”
It was great to read the epilogue and get a little “reunion” with all the Kings and their girls at the end even if Luca wasn’t invited which was funnily ironic (not as much as Willow having Sophie as a lawyer though).
Regardless, it wasn’t the worst book I’ve read and this series was an interesting start for the author. I’ll definitely be reading her future books.
“I’ll never stop hating you,” he murmurs with a sweet fever of a love confession. “I’ll hate you to your heart content, Lynch, if that’s what you like.”
first of all, thank you to aurora and her team for the arc, words cannot express the happiness i felt when i got the email with the book.
Luca-Fletcher-Lowe is the Novus heir. Ever since the first book of the series, he has been introduced to us as this anti-hero, the character who’s not a good person, and who seems to be just fully void inside, characteristics that have truly always drawn me to Luca a lot, and made me so excited to read his book.
Willow Lynch is Luca’s romantic interest and was introduced to us as a character who gets his attention after an interesting “run-in” at his club. She is a really strong character and truly is a badass, and remains like that throughout the entirety of the book. But as the book goes on, we get to see more sides of her.
their book was my most anticipated read in the entire series, and I am so glad to say that it really lived up to all of my expectations. Luca was the best character in the entire book and series. I really do think that he acted perfectly and made no mistakes! Dream man!
The only thing that bother me a little bit was the third act break up and how it was treated, but aside from that I 100% loved this book so much. I also loved all the appearances that the other characters of spearcrest made, I’m not ready to say bye to them! (also luca and iakov’s friendship was the best thing ever). This was the perfect way to wrap up the series and I hope to be reading more from Aurora in the future!
I had a really hard time getting into this book, but I enjoyed some parts, especially later parts. Luca and Willow romance wasn't my taste, but I got way some people would enjoy it.Iakov has my heart, so every scene with him was amazing, and crumbs of previous couples were sweet.
Thank you to Aurora and her team for sending me this ARC in exchange of an honest review!
Overall feelings on the book: Can’t say I’m disappointed about the book considering I’m going through a tough period of my life trying to adjust to uni life and living away from home so if you think about how much I’ve struggled to finish even one silly book during these months you can understand my rating. I enjoyed it, but I don’t consider it remarkable. I was really excited for Luca’s book ‘cause during “Spearcrest Knight” he kind of grossed me out but then again I kept thinking about him and what kind of woman would be able to keep up with his antics. He and Willow are well paired because they fit somehow, they felt like mirrors at their core but so plainly different from the outside… but there are some details that threw me off so much sometimes I had to take a moment and stare at the wall for a bit (PIGTAILS?). That being said, the book has a consistent pace which makes it easy to read even tho the plot about Willow’s revenge list is weak to say the least and served just to reach the third act breakup (which I enjoyed by the way… you have to get it). There were quite a bit swoon worthy banger scenes (Willow sliding in bed with Luca to seek comfort😞 & the one on the rooftop in New York.. yikyk) but also so many cringeworthy moments… (“i am your plane” i- boy shut up). Also those chapters with Iakov were some of my favorite scenes in the whole series alongside the epilogue at the halloween party❤️❤️❤️loved seeing all of them together and not inviting Luca actually made me laugh. That said, whoever compared this one to any RK book is going to burn in hell, you’ve got to recognize Aurora writes much better than some frεακ authors out there so have some shame when you say such things.
Now that the series is over I can announce EvanSophie still clears out any other couple here… they’re literally king and queen of America Vogue probably begs them to feature in its frontpage any other week.
CHARACTERS
Willow Lynch → …fishnets and pigtails. She’s 30 years old. FIDHNETS AND PIGTAILS AND RIPPED BAND T-SHIRTS to run in the woods for a thirty year old woman? Aurora look at me in the eye and tell me what is it that led to this interesting choices cause I just don’t get it. Surely Willow’s character had to be a bit quirky to match Luca’s apathy but ridiculing her wasn’t necessary at all 😭 every outfit of hers had me putting the book down to take a breath. I always enjoy a strong protagonist from the wrong side of the city and overall Willow amused me with her answers and wits but I just couldn’t cope with her awful descriptions… what happened to class? I didn’t sign up for Avril Lavigne reincarnated here. Moving on from the pigtails, Willow and her story weren’t bad, just very plain. She was abused but her mom’s boyfriend and her mom killed herself (yikes) so she starts a sort of revenge list on men. If you’re asking yourself if this list bears any kind of relevance… no, but maybe it’s because it would have taken away too many chapters. Still I feel like we didn’t delve enough into her character, the characterization always remains very surface-level: I don’t particularly enjoy inner monologues but damn we needed it a bit here? This girl can’t possibly think only of men and women to fuck… give us some reflection on your mother’s suicide and on men literally kidnapping you Willow, please?
Luca Fletcher-Lowe → I’m tired of the white-blond unfeeling germophobe draco malfoy sickly looking scrawny type of male character just as much I’m tired of shadow wielders in fantasy books😭 I just think if you go with a certain type of character you’ve got to give him something original. I HATEEEEEE these men dead bet on being stoic and shit, it makes them all interchangeable with one another. BUT… but… I also liked Luca very much after the third act breakup, his jealousy amused me greatly😭. He was also actually funny during his inner monologues, expecally every time he would comment on Zachary and Theodora (only book in the series I haven’t managed to finish… I get him) being utterly ridiculous, speak your mind unbothered king. Overall I’d say he didn’t give what he needed to give. He has some prime moments but where the fuck were the belts on the neck and the smacking around????? I get he had to do the whole tender thing with Willow and that the hunt scenes were maybe supposed to be the freaky part of the book but… they weren’t it. They felt too sporadic and too similar with one another, I just didn’t care about those moments at all. Also I get he’s antagonistic and everything but I would have liked to see some of the other boys (aside from the dark prince of our hearts Iakov) grow a bit closer with him? They were #theshit in high school so why make them dislike each other this much. Those two chapters with Iakov were some of my favorites we needed mooooooore of Luca acting like an actual human and capable of having a normal relationship with another being. For the same reasons I loved him with the dogs and Ned and Nadine.
ROMANCE Clearly this is the best part of the book because I’ve already said the plot is nonexistent. THEY WERE CUTE, I’ll leave some quotes.
”I don’t need to see Willow to know it’s her. I smell her, the rich, contradictory scent of her, the heat of her skin. She pulls at my blanket and crawls into my bed. I murmur her name, but she covers my mouth with hers. She kisses me, needy and wet. I half-wonder if I can taste tears on her mouth. I try to sit up against her, to take her in my arms, to hold her right into my heart where I might keep her like a queen in a fortress while I slay all her enemies for her.”
“Because I’ve seen you satisfied, Lynch. You greedy, needy goddam creature. I’ve seen you well-fed and satiated, and the moment I saw you tonight I knew you were starving.” He presses his mouth to mine—another non-kiss. “I’m starving too, Lynch. I’ve been starving ever since you left, and I can’t eat. I can barely sleep. How much longer must you punish me with this exile?”
See? There were some swoon moments. Their banter was amusing and one of the best executed parts of the book. But also there were many cringeworthy ones ‘cause explain to me why this man had to go rescuing her with BOW AND ARROWS… you aren’t Katniss Everdeen and your girlfriend being kidnapped didn’t equal the Hunger Games, do please put down that thing and use a gun next time for the love of god.
TROPES - Grumpy x Grumpy (more like apathetic) - Fake relationship - Forced proximity - I’d say a bit of found family as well
SPICE LEVEL 🌶️🌶️.5 for a dark romance and what I expected from Luca they weren’t that freaky. Most of the times they smacked each other around more for fun than anything else. Not that I’m complaining, Aurora actually always manages to write sex scenes that don’t give me the ick so she deserves the credit.
thank you aurora for the arc, i’ve had a fun time the last year reading spearcrest and will miss them dearly. 4.5/ 5
As mentioned i had fun and that’s what’s important to me when i read! lucawillow were wholly unsrs in any way two british people can be but they kept me entertained. i feel like people may have had certain expections for luca but i know this man in any way i would know a sickly victorian twink. i think his character was perfectly crafted for willow, who would not take in any other man that didn’t have the personality of a vampiric lesbian with delusions of grandeur.
willow on the other hand, we had a good time, she’s funny and a hater and bisexual which makes her perfect for me. my only… emphasis on only… complaint, was that she may have been too old 🫣 nothing against older women but for the sake of this book she should’ve had more aspirations besides getting revenge and working at a bar at the age of thirty…. if she was 26 i would’ve been fine with her getting chased thru the woods in pigtails bc fine! what else was there to do 🤷 but she’s hanging out with all these freshly college graduates like mama let’s go back to school or smth.
i will say im glad when she moved in the end she did get a job she was interested in and had friends. i loved seeing her interact w the other spearcrest cast, her relationship with sophie was so cute and i loved seeing iakovluca again :)
i could say more but im gonna leave it at that bc this was the last book and I HAD FUN! hopefully ar will do some type of novella in the future but until then i will be reading whatever she puts out 🙆
I'll never love you. But I'll hate you more than anyone else in the world. All my hate, just for you.
After reading the first books in the series, I was really hoping the last one would be amazing like the previous ones, but this one unfortunately this one fell a bit flat to me. First of all, Willow annoyed the heck out of me. For a 30 year old, she acted very childlike and that isn't for me. She also could have caused the third act breakup to not have been as dramatically as it was. I did love how she was a fierce badass chick when it came to the bad guys.
Other than my strong dislike for the FMC for most of the book, the other characters were fire, and the couple were toxic and twisted and completely unhinged which I love! The chemistry was obvious despite their dislike for one another.
The writing style in continuation from the previous books is very rich and flowy, it didn't drag or feel jumpy at all. I love this authors writing style, it is what captivated me from the beginning, and I love reading her books! What To Expect: ⨳ MF Romance ⨳ Enemies to Lovers ⨳ Grumpy/Grumpy ⨳ Fake Dating ⨳ Slow Burn ⨳ Forced Proximity
I’ll never stop hating you, I’ll hate you to your heart content, Lynch, if that’s what you like.
❤︎ ARC provided in exchange for an honest review ❤︎
uhm i liked the idea of lucawillow but not the execution. they had some good scenes and i liked their dynamic at times but while i typically like when the characters are super different, it backfired here for me.
willow is all for revenge and overall not bothered with anyone else’s opinions but she ends up being trapped into a contract that has her being hunted by a sickly victorian child 😭 at 30% mark. the series should’ve just stayed as a rich kids one and not venture into dark romance. i did like luca more in his book than in the others and him being a masochist was entertaining but that was kinda it for me.
loved the other spearcrest kings scenes though. zach/evan still cannot stand lucas ass, sev completely unaware of everything, iakov an angel as always. love love iakovzachs bond, such opposites but insanely close friends. iakov really the glue (as in only one who’s friends with them all) between the group despite being the one whose least likely the show emotion.
no way i ended this book saying he deserved better. i genuinely disliked Willow and i can’t even say i’m sorry about it. third act break up was pretty stupid imo and her lack of accountability and development was just annoying. the fall out and what she did to him just felt unnecessary idk. also can she act her age ffs. the ending also pissed me off cause it was just so out of character for him. i also genuinely don’t think she actually cares for this man meanwhile his whole life is in shambles cause of her.
Good end to this series. Never thought Luca would be somewhat redeemable, but I think Willow matched him perfectly. Time to find something to fill this hole in my heart now.
i think this is my new favorite book of the series. i've been wanting to read luca's book for almost a year now, and let's say i'm not disappointed. this book put me through so many emotions : i went from sad to angry to laughing... because the banter??? it was crazy good. every interaction between them when they were enemies made me laugh SO hard. i love everything about both characters. first, willow is a very strong and badass fmc, i loved that she made it hard for him to have her (and that until the very end). she went through so much and deserves the whole world, i'm glad she finally got her happy ending. she surely is on my favorite characters of the series. then, luna is the cliché of a blond psycho who's obsessed with his girl and would kill anything that touched a hair on her head without an ounce of remorse, but i'm here for it. i knew i would love him but seeing what he was hiding from everyone and how his brain worked was really interesting to read. he really groveled a lot and seeing his relationship with the characters from the other books (special mention to iakov❤️) was so important to me. lucawillow's dynamic was so entertaining, and they really served enemies to lovers. i have so much to say about them and this universe that i adore and will miss a lot, but just know that if you think about starting this series, don't think about it twice and go ahead. i also LOVED the writing in this book, aurora really improved what she's writing through the series and i'm so proud of her. thanking her again for providing me this ARC and for being an amazing person and author. i really can't wait for what's coming next because i sure will be reading 🤍🫂
okay so goodreads the little bitch removed this from my shelves so i have to write a review again :(
I AM HOWEVER HAPPY TO DO IT SO GET READY
first of all, i am so in love with this storyline, i loved willow and luca both together and separately and i am absolutely UNHINGED. for them ok? and willow and the dogs?? a whole other level of love from me.
🕷️ willow babygirl, fellow liar and slut, i am forever grateful to have read your story and know what you're like it literally brought me so much joy and so much pain at the same time but i wouldn't have it any other way.
🔒 LUCA YOU ASSHOLE. fuck i love him so bad it's insane. he was so 🫠🫠🫠 and he makes me want to honestly to spread my legs unnaturally every time i think about him, he's just like, all that tbh.
🩶 i loved their relationship, i loved everything about this book - aurora darling, you really outdid yourself with this one.

3.5 STARS big thanks for the arc hehe here’s for my honest review…i don’t know how i should feel. sometimes i liked it and sometimes it felt repetitive. at the start i was super into their dynamic though, for sure. it just felt like a drag, but it got better at the end during the sophie cameo. ill miss spearcrest so much, my babies!!! i’ll definitely need to reread this to know the extent to my enjoyment for this book so stay tuned!
First of all I want to thank Aurora Reed for the ARC!
I discovered this series last year and I've been in love with the characters ever since. I had the feeling that Luca and Willow were going to be one of my favorites but that was not the case.
Everything about this book wasn't what I was expecting at all. I enjoyed in it's majority, but I'm still a little disappointed.
Luca and Willow's dinamic was fun to read at the beginning but it got progressively boring. Maybe it's because I didn't really see a development in their relationship, it just felt like we suddenly jumped from one thing to the other.
Willow made me laugh, but sometimes she was too intense, like it was too much(? I don't know how to explain it. I was really surprised by Luca's character too. I loved how he was so obsessed with Willow but, again, at some point it got boring to me.
Also, I usually don't have a problem with third-act-breakups but I didn't enjoy it in here.
I do want to say that I loved that little scene with the other Spearcrest couples at the end. I was hoping too see more of that but I'm happy with what we got anyways.
Overall, it was a fun read. I still love these characters a lot and I'm going to miss them all.
