The Spy Who Ghosted Me

Rate this book
Are you ready to get ghosted?

Three years ago, I fell truly, madly, deeply in love. It was kind of hard not to when Cash Denton, the sexiest man alive, literally ran into me on the streets of Bordeaux, France, and kissed me. Best. Meet. Cute. Ever. That led to the best two months of my life. Or . . . so I thought, until Cash disappeared into thin air. At first, I assumed he was in a coma or had amnesia after a tragic accident, since there’s no way he would have left me. But that was just wishful thinking because, you guessed it, he ghosted me with a capital G.

So, you can imagine my surprise when he suddenly shows back up in my life at my parents’ resort—while I’m there for my sister’s wedding, no less. It’s the last thing I need, seeing as one, I hate drama, and two, I’m pretty sure my sister’s fiancé isn’t who he says he is. There’s a lot of that going around, apparently. Because get Cash, or whatever his real name is, claims to be a spy. You heard me right—a spy. If that wasn’t crazy enough, he wants me to pretend to be his girlfriend so he can keep tabs on the supposed diamond smuggler my sister is marrying. I’m not sure who or what to believe. All I know is, this wedding is way more than I bargained for and there is nothing pretend about my feelings for Cash or whoever he is. But can a regular girl and her ghost live happily ever after? Or will the spy turn out to be just another ghost story?

USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Peel presents a swoony spy romcom full of action, adventure, and romance.

**WARNING** Do NOT start this book if you have plans to get things done. I'm here to tell you that it just isn't going to happen. Who needs food in their bellies and/or clean clothes when you have The Spy Who Ghosted Me calling your name?!

Where do I even begin to tell you how much I loved this book?! First. This book is perfection! Second. This book is absolute perfection! Third. Did I mention this book is absolute perfection?! Well, in my opinion, it is! Gah! You guys! This is the kind of book I have been craving! They have been few and far between for me this year so I found myself treasuring every single moment of this ooey gooey swoony deliciousness!

Sabrina and Cash are fantastic! They're both loyal, kind, loving, fiercely protective, and will do anything in their power to make sure the people they care about most are safe and happy. I loved watching these two get to know each other better. I don't think Cash knew what to do or say to Sabrina at times. Growing up the way he had made it hard to believe some of the things she did and said.

Sabrina saw Cash differently than he saw himself. She saw his worth when nobody else did. She saw the amazing man he didn't even know existed. She helped him to see himself as she sees him. It was beautiful to watch. I have to say that these two are absolutely perfect for each other in life and love. Watching them finally getting their HEA had me letting out all the little dreamy sighs.

Y'all know how much I love me some side characters and this book was loaded with them! I found myself laughing out loud during some antics and I fell in love with them just as much as I did Sabrina and Cash. Have a mentioned this book is absolute perfection yet?

Ms. Peel continues to surprise me with each and every book she releases. I love how she's not afraid to step out of her comfort zone to bring us new and exciting stories. I, for one, would love to see more Sabrina and Cash! I think a spy series could be a lot of fun!

As for my casting... y'all. These two are perfection! What do you think?

“I had a feeling that my mostly drama-free life was about to get dramatized in a major way.”

I quickly fell in love with Cash and Sabrina’s story as it started out with a second meet-cute and the descriptions of the first one had me over the moon with swoon. Cash planted himself back in her life and it’s about to get interesting.

Sabrina is such a fun and capable woman and after being ghosted, no one can blame her for being annoyed, but…who can resist Cash? He’s like all the beloved spy movie heroes wrapped into one adorably sweet and resourceful man. I loved everything about this book, from the elements of suspense to the hilarious interactions to the delicious kisses.

Add this one to your list and you won’t be sorry!

Content: mild language; swoony kisses; mild peril

Not romantic or sexy to me,
He’s some kind of spy 🕵️ I thought the mistery would be more interesting
He really ghosted her three years ago, came back cocky ( I hate that kind) and uses her again! There’s no kind of grovel
He uses her time after time and NEVER has the intention to stay and have something with her, awful and a coward
I’m too proud for this type of books, I’d have betray him at the end just for revenge
Two stars because the writing was fluid and easy for my poor English but no thank you

No grovel
No sex
No love IMO,

2.5 to be fair! I am just not a contemporary reader and I need to remember that going into these.

Spoilers.

This book is perfect for you if you like cutesy rom coms. It has meet cutes, banter, and a cute plot of him being a spy and just wanting to protect her. The happily ever after comes full circle and we see them grow together as people. All good things.

I was just bored and wanted it to hurry along. I feel like the inner monologues were too repetitive and we kept just getting the same arguments with a few words changed. I wanted to just yell "get over it" by half way when she hadn't forgiven him. It's why I struggle with contemporary romance so much. You are telling me the problem is that you hooked up with this guy for two months in Europe and he ghosted you. That's it? He didn't murder your family to take a throne? He didn't capture you and hold you against your will? He wasn't an extreme bully to the point where you'd cry yourself to sleep? No? Okay then I don't see why you are mad at the 50 percent mark. So this is clearly a book taste issue for me, not that the book was bad.

“Note to self: Never fall in love with a spy again.”

Also of note: you will not want to put this book down once you start- it’s just that good!

This book was absolutely addictive, and all I can say is I need more. The story grabbed my attention from the beginning with such an interesting plot, a hero and heroine you immediately love and root for, moments I literally laughed out loud, a setting that had me itching to be in the mountains with the fall leaves, so much added suspense and a bit of a mystery, and a passionate but clean romance that left my toes curling long after I finished.

Sabrina and Cash had a sweet love and a story that needed to be told. This author has such a talent for bringing you into a book and making you feel a part of it, as well as developing wonderful side characters you can’t help but love. Amidst the crazy of a diamond smuggler and a quirky wedding party complete with bridezilla, there was so much good in this story, and many moments throughout truly touched me. I adored Cash and Sabrina, and oh my word- I loved the combination of romance and mystery/suspense! I was definitely surprised at the explosive climax and ending to the story!

I truly hope we get to revisit this genre (and maybe even these characters?!) again, because this is for sure a book I will be reading over and over!

Move over James Bond, we've got another spy who is here to save the day!!! And man on man, does he deliver! Except he has on hiccup...a major one. And it has to do with his heart and ghosting a certain someone. Now he has a mission to show up at her sister's wedding and solve a case, take down the bad guy, keep his cover, and most importantly, keep his heart locked away and not get tangled up in a relationship with Sabrina...again! Yeah right!!! As if she'd even let him after ghosting her!

Oh! My! Heavens!!! Y'all, this book was soooooo good! And Sabrina! She's spunky and she sure knows how to keep Cash on his toes! I loved her character so much! Cash, be ware, you're going down! *smirks* And umm, Sabrina, you are too! Sorry honey, it's just inevitable when it's Cash!

I love, love, loved her family so much!!! Her parents and their all seeing eyes. Her Nana!!! Hahaha!!! Oh my word, she cracked me up to the extreme!!!! Cash, you better watch yourself around Nana! *smirking again* Her cousin is a hoot, when we see her. IYKYK. Her sister...ummm Bridezilla to the EXTREME!!!! Grandpa, her aunt and others are just all a perfect family combination to watch the drama!

The setting had me wanting to go on a vacation. The spy aspects had me feeling like I was right there helping Cash and Sabrina in this covert operation, sneaking around and trying not to get caught. The swoony romance had me sighing in happiness because these two are just adorable. I loved their realistic views on their situation and was there for it all!!! *Happy Sigh*

If you haven't read a book by this author, this would be a great place to start. I was hooked!!!

Content: Some mild swear words. Some kissing. The main characters sleep in the same location but in separate sleeping accommodations.

I received a copy from the author. I have also purchased my own kindle copy and will be getting a pretty paperback for my shelves!!! All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading & Ghosting!!!

There aren’t enough words to say how much I loved this book! I was hooked from the beginning and loved every bit of it until the end. And the bonus chapter!!! Wow! Just, wow!!

After spending an amazing 2 months together in France, Cash suddenly ghosted Sabrina leaving her heartbroken. Not only did he leave without a trace, she was unable to find him or anything else about him anywhere. Even her pictures of him on her phone had disappeared!

Now, 3 years later on her way to her hometown for her sister’s wedding, she sees Cash in the airport and feels like she’s seen a ghost. Little does she know, they are headed to the same destination and Cash is about to become a part of her life once again!

Cash and Sabrina are SO fun! Their history together just adds to the chemistry between these two and has you rooting for them the thought the story.

Sabrina was so spunky, kind, snd smart! I liked how she loved to hate Cash. 😏 She really couldn’t help how quickly her old feelings for him came back, but she sure did try to fight them! She was so kind to her sister, even though she was a pill! And I loved that she was able to piece some things together herself to help Cash with his mission.

Cash was a dream! Despite ghosting Sabrina before (with a valid reason for doing so) he really was so sweet! I loved how protective he was of Sabrina, and how sweet and kind he was. He was always putting her first and helping her see how important she was to him even though he knew they couldn’t have a future together.

Such a fun, fun read! You’re going to love it!

A fun read!

This is a lighthearted, entertaining romance. The spy part of the story is serious but not overly so. I enjoyed it! And in answer to the bonus part of the story: Yes, more please!

*Romance level: passionate kisses, some innuendo, but no graphic descriptions; a handful of common swears

*Gripe: I really don't get people's entertainment with the concept of a gropey, perverted grandma character - if it was a grandPA, nobody would think it was funny, so what changes when it's a woman? Nothing

There has yet to be a Jennifer Peel book that I do not finish in 24 hours

Imagine falling in love with a guy, in France, after one incredible meet cute and then he just vanishes only to turn up at the airport you are at where you are both heading to the place where your selfish baby sister is getting married. Oh - all to basically help this guy (spy) take down your sisters fiance because news flash, he’s a bad man (and not in the fun way 😉)

This was such a fun light hearted read where the writing sucks you in immediately and you cannot stop until you get to the very last page

This Spy can Ghost me any day

Sigh. This book is so great. I loved it. It's a perfect romance with some spy adventures. I loved the supporting characters, I loved the main characters, and I loved the honest conversations they had with each other and themselves. It's a great fall read. I read it in a day. Jennifer Peel is one of my top authors and you should totally give her a shot.

Explosively good! What a perfect portrayal of love is blind with Sabrina watching her sister love a crazy man. I love watching Sabrina and Cash come together and this book has an amazingly developed plot to get them from worlds of hurt to a team in love.

It was fine but I felt like MMC was a bit selfish and the FMC had little self respect. I KNOW that’s what they were supposed to give at the beginning but idk it didn’t change for me at all until the very last part.

So I was picked to receive an ARC for this book by the author!!! I was so excited!!! And let me just say..J Peel did it again!!! I love ALL of her books! This one had me swooning from the beginning! Cash and Sabrina are so incredibly cute! They have the most perfect "meet cute" and end up spending a couple months together being inseparable and falling for each other. And then you guessed it, Cash ghosts her! Little does she know, it's bc he's a spy! But something comes up later on and they are brought back together due to some..unfortunate events. Cash's next mission. Sabrina and Cash end up having to work together to save her sister, Lexi. During their time together, Cash gets a feel for what a true family is like. (The garage scene with Cash, Mercer & Pops..😫🥰) It makes your heart melt! Cash doesn't know what true love is until Sabrina & her family welcome him in with arms wide open. This book will have you a little frustrated, but then giggling, and then nervous with a racing heart and then grinning from ear to ear! All the feels! I absolutely loved it!!! I honestly would've read this in just a couple hours but..life as a full time working mom of three..duty calls! Lol If you need a light, fluffy, easy to read romance that makes your heart happy, this is for you!!! Which really..everyone will love this one!

Without a doubt, the swooniest ghost story EVER!

Sabrina fell in love with Cash three years ago. Everything was perfect until one day he just...disappeared. No trace. No warning. Her heart has never forgotten him, but when he shows up at her family's resort the same week as her sister's wedding, she refuses to be get her heart broken again.

As a spy, Cash is not allowed to have relationships. Or emotions. It is impossible, however, for him to think of his time with Sabrina as a mistake when he is as much in love with her as ever.

But he isn't here to win her back; he is here to catch a dangerous criminal and protect her family, all without her finding out who his true identity. Oh, and to somehow convince the girl he ghosted to be his fake girlfriend. Should be an easy job for a spy, right?

What you'll love:
second chance romance
spy MMC
dual pov
brave, intelligent heroine
protective hero
dreamy meet-cute
fake dating
all the swoony kisses
suspenseful scenes
found family
fall vibes
the bonus chapter!!!
I choose you

OH.MY.SWOON! I CANNOT EVEN!! This book should come with a warning label: may cause extreme heart palpitations and lack of sleep.

The high-stakes adventure and the downright swoony second chance romance were so perfectly blended together and made the pages practically turn themselves. I could not get enough of Cash and Sabrina together and oh my, the chemistry between them was more of a roaring bonfire than mere sparks!

Loved all the heartwarming scenes between Cash and Sabrina's family - they are the side characters I didn't know I needed! There were some Hallmark worthy scenes that just about melted my heart.

The combination of danger and intrigue with sizzling kisses is my new favorite thing, and I hope this is the first of many stories we get from Jennifer Peel in this genre. All I want to do is pick this up again and re-read it over and over!

TW: parental neglect, child in foster system
CW: some Bible swears

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚

Title: The Spy Who Ghosted Me by @jpeel_author
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
Release date: September 13th, 2024

Blurb: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

🛑Read on with caution; review may contain spoilers🛑

The Spy Who Ghosted Me tells the story of sensible Sabrina who fell in love with Cash whom she met in France three years ago. After 2 months of bliss, he suddenly disappears without a trace. Coincidentally, she meets him again three years later the week before her younger sister Lexi’s wedding, to a criminal named Izan, known to her family as Soren. Cash apparently is a spy trying to catch Izan with the blood diamonds he stole. He enlists the help of Sabrina to catch him despite ghosting her years ago.

Although I do enjoy a good spy romance, some parts of this novel were a bit dragging and lacked in action, but they redeemed themselves towards the end of the story. Sabrina and Cash’s romance on the other hand was quite steamy and swoony. There were lots of hero declarations along the lines of “I’ll protect you no matter what.”, I mean, who wouldn’t fall for someone willing to protect and save your life? Sabrina surely did despite her anger towards Cash for leaving her three years ago. She had so much love for everyone in her life that she was even willing to put herself in danger researching Lexi’s soon-to-be-husband Soren, all the while falling in love all over again with Cash trying to catch Soren in the process. I also loved how she made Cash feel seen, gave value to his life, and made him feel loved, which his agency did not give him when they took him into their custody to be a spy.

This is an overall light and swoony romance with a tad bit of action towards the end that I think many romance readers would enjoy! Pick this one up – available to read for free with Kindle Unlimited.

Move over James Bond, Ethan Hunt, and Jack Ryan, Cash Denton is the swooniest new spy on the block.
The Spy Who Ghosted Me is one of the best I have read in this type of genre or sub-genre (adventure/spy romcom). As a big romantic suspense reader, I was really impressed with the pacing and way Peel crafted a page-turner of a romance while also staying on brand with her signature swoon and character chemistry. She knows how to deliver a suspense story while having the book full of delicious flirtations and some Ooo La La kisses I smiled about.
Cash ghosted Sabrina three years before, but when a threat pops up that puts Sabrina in harm’s way, Cash makes a sudden reappearance ready to catch the villain and keep Sabrina safe.
I love that Peel let Sabrina be intelligent! It was refreshing that she caught on to things and held her own with Cash. She was observant, witty, and brave. I loved Cash’s protectiveness and encouragement even though he recognized what it might mean for him. Their not so fake romance was full of all the feels and romance readers will eat it up.
I will say it again and again, Peel knows how to write second chance romance and this book definitely checks all the boxes. I loved the dual POV, the setting, the twists. I already can’t wait for more and recommend this book.
Content level is similar to what you’d find in a book by Leah Brunner and Katie Bailey. The spice level is closed door with innuendo and some really great kisses that will make your toes curl. There is swearing in this book.
I received an advance reader copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this and recommend it.

What a ride!

Jennifer Peel does it again! Yummy tension, sizzling chemistry, and swoony kisses. Cash and Sabrina’s story brings all the romance and high-stakes adventure that leap off every page, leaving you wanting more. All I can say is Cash Denton can ghost me anytime!

No emotions. No connections. No trace. Cash Denton is the perfect spy. What happens when his perfectly crafted professional life crashes into his personal life?

Sabrina is a sweet, spunky, and loyal southern belle. When Sabrina and Cash meet, sparks fly immediately. Two months of happily ever after and then it’s over with no warning and no trace that it actually happened. Heartbroken ever since, how will she get through her sister’s wedding extravaganza when she can’t get rid of the ghost who broke her heart?

One of my favorite “spy” movies is The Saint with Val Kilmer. I was absolutely heart eyes for Val. I think I saw it at least three times in the theater and let me tell you, this book gives me the same feelings as Val Kilmer. Absolute heart eyes and butterflies.

Fabulously fun and flirty. I devoured this book in one day. Sit down and buckle up for this swoony adventure. You don’t want to miss this ghost story!!

I received a complimentary copy, but a positive review was not required.

How would it feel to be ditched by someone that you were falling for? No word, no closure, he just vanishes. Then you see him and want absolutely nothing to do with him.

Oh man, Sabrina was a firecracker. I loved her and I loved her reaction to running into Cash again. At the beginning I wasn’t sure if I was going to like Cash. He had a lot of groveling to do. But trust me, he will win you over and make you S-W-double O-N. Swoon.

This story was so fun. There is the sexy spy aspect of course, there’s wedding planning happening, there’s sabotage. It is just a wild ride and I was here for every second of it! The scenery portrayed in the book is definitely putting me in the mood for fall.

Some thoughts while reading:

-I’m always baffled by bridezillas and this was done so well.

-Sabrina’s dad is just the best, such a teddy bear!

-Has a fall feel, has a Christmas epilogue…so perfect for the “-ber” months to read!

-Now I need Drew and Mia’s story.

CW: mild language, some innuendo

This book was my "happiest place on earth" while I read it. I loved everything, EVERYTHING, about it. Conflict? ✅ Chemistry? ✅ Intrigue? ✅ Danger? ✅ Romance? ✅ Happily Ever After? ✅✅

In true Jennifer Peel form, there was character development, backstory, family craziness and plenty of swoony moments in this book. I loved her addition of some mystery/suspense- it was so fun! I'm always in for a spunky, smart female lead and I just loved Sabrina. She didn't make it easy for "Cash" to waltz back into her life. Thank goodness. As hot and smooth as he is, I'm glad she made him work for it while she sorted things out with her smarts and instincts. Like I said, I loved everything about this book. It was the perfect romantic getaway with some heart pounding moments.
Time to read it again!

Sabrina met Cash Denton 3 years ago and had a whirlwind romance in Paris, only for him to disappear and ghost her. She's wondered if he got hurt, died, or got amnesia. Those are the only reasons she can think of for why he has dropped off the face of "her" earth. So she is shocked when she runs into him in the airport as she returns home for her sisters upcoming wedding. Her feelings for him are still strong, but there is now anger and betrayal mixed in with the "love" ones. She doesn't want to give him a chance to hurt her again, but he's going to her hometown as well, and keeps bumping up in all the pre-wedding activities, much to her chagrin.

This was a super fun, second-chance romance with great characters, an exciting plot line, and lots of love to warm you up more than hot chocolate. This author never disappoints.

A one-sitting ⭐FIVE STAR⭐ read. Best sleepless night EVER!

I hope everyone is taking their vitamins and getting plenty of sleep because Jennifer Peel will be testing your cardiovascular health with this one.
And I’ll be the first to admit MY HEART WAS NOT READY!🥹

Sabrina is home for her sister’s wedding.
Why would the man who ghosted her three years ago suddenly show up at her parents’ Smoky Mountain resort?
Has she haunted his thoughts the way he’s haunted hers?
Maybe, but their hearts aren’t the only things in danger.

Disclaimer:
This is a one sitting read. Plan accordingly.
You’ll need hydration, tissues, and a pillow to scream into. Don’t bother with snacks, you won’t be able to eat.

What I loved:
🥵Sexy spy
👩‍🍳Tenacious and intelligent FMC
💕Fake Dating
🍂Fall Vibes
❤️‍🔥Action. Adventure. Romance.
💋Kissing (lots of kissing)

✨My favorite thing about this story:
I can't say that Sabrina requires much rescuing, but she definitely rescues him right back.

What an absolute delight! Jennifer has outdone herself with this story. I knew going in it was going to be good, but it far exceeded my expectations. It’s my new favorite by her, and I loved everything about it!

The Spy Who Ghosted Me has all the makings of your next favorite romance. It’s sweet and funny, with a dash of danger and intrigue, and whole lot of sizzling chemistry between two lovable characters. I devoured it in one sitting, and hated to see it end. With some ‘Knight and Day’ vibes, it was just so fun and entertaining. I will definitely be rereading this gem again and again.

If you’re a fan of Jennifer Peel, or of charming second chance romances, this is one you do not want to miss!

Many thanks to the author for a copy!

Best Ghost Story Ever!

Cash and Sabrina meet in France and have a beautiful relationship, until one day when he’s just gone. No goodbye, no trace.

Three years later, he’s on Sabrina’s flight home for her baby sister’s wedding, and he’s staying at her family resort. How did the man who ghosted her end up so entrenched in her life? And why can’t she just leave him in the past?

This story had it all: from action and spy gadgets, to the sweetest romance, and all the feels of finding out what a family is. I especially loved the scene with Cash and Sabrina’s father and grandfather.

There was a hint of a possible sequel, and I say, yes, please! I want to see Ivy find happiness too.

I devoured this newly-released book over the weekend. This has been one of my most anticipated books this fall, and I wasn't disappointed. This is a fantastic adventure romance.

Sabrina is at the airport heading home to her sister's wedding when she sees a ghost. The man she loved, who disappeared without a trace after a magical two-month romance in France. Now that she knows he isn't dead, she hates him.

I love how truly devoted Cash is to Sabrina. He has “coincidentally” booked a stay at the wedding location so he can protect Sabrina and her family from the thief/murderer her sister is marrying. He can't tell her he's a spy. I love all the creative ways he makes sure he's close to her, in spite of how hard she tries to stay away.

The whole plot is fast paced and highly satisfying. Don't miss this one!

Contains: kisses, suggestive dialogue, some shooting

I do not like it when characters think they need to solve the problem by themselves rather than calling in for backup. Why would they go after the diamonds without telling someone? Also, as soon as Cash revealed that he was a spy I was sure his cover would be blown seeing how Sabrina mentions it out loud multiple times. I was shocked that no one overheard. Another thing that makes me cringe is when perfectly capable people start failing at their job because they’re distracted by love. Cash makes a rookie mistake when scoping out Soren’s room, he also fails at trailing Soren because he’s busy with Sabrina.

This is more of a find the diamond book than romance as the MCs were in love previously.

Different from my usual but I liked it!

I don't usually read books with spies, but if Jennifer Peel releases a book, I'm definitely reading it! It was a fun change for her, I think. It has the sweet and interesting romance I expect from her, with a bit more high-stakes plot because of spy stuff. If you're not big into spy novels, I think this book is probably fairly light on all that stuff, considering it's a main plot point. This book is still mostly a romance.

I liked the characters a lot! The side characters were interesting, but of course the main characters, Sabrina and Cash, really shine. They are a good match! And I'm curious if we'll get Mia and Drew's story... And maybe Ivy's?

I recommend this book if you're interested in a sweet spy romance!

This author continues to prove that I am indeed in my spy com era. Cash and Sabrina have an unforgettable history. Until Sabrina gets ghosted. Bruh. When Cash shows up in the most unlikely of places, Sabrina is determined to get answers.

I don’t want to spoil anything, but there are good guys and bad guys, dangerous situations and totally romantic moments. Crazy family members and laugh out loud fun.

Especially loved:
-her father and grandparents
-protective spy hottie
-smarty pants heroine
-”If you weren’t a spy, what would you choose to do…..”

Im hoping Peel decides to write more like this! Very mild swearing and plenty of romantic kissing.

Smart & Sexy!

I love a strong female lead! Sabrina does not disappoint! We could be best friends! However, writing a male lead that compliments Sabrina would be no easy task. As usual, Jennifer Peel does it and does it amazingly well! Cash is the perfect blend of confident and broken man/child! I was hooked from the beginning and all the way to the end. Sabrina and Cash are my new favorite couple, and their story drives this book. However, Nana! Pops! The whole Belle family! Ivy! They all meld together into an insanely smart and sexy read. Enjoy!
