This was by far my least favorite in the series. I would've rather it had a focus on the ghouls, because I found the investigator's portions terribly boring. There's only one investigator that I truly care for and find interesting. I will say the story picked up when we got the ghouls section halfway through, but it took awhile to get to that point.

i won’t lie, i find the ghoul investigators to be the most uninteresting characters in this series (save for, like, amon and juzo.. i guess), so the fact that this volume focused heavily on them meant that it turned out to be a bit of a let-down.

still. this is tokyo ghoul, which means even a somewhat uneventful volume doesn’t take away from the fact that this series as a whole is absolutely phenomenal

also, getting to see different sides of kaneki?? HELL YES. more of that, please and thank you.

I barely got through this volume. It isn't bad by any means. But I just don't care about the Doves. I wanted so much more from the Ghouls. And we're 2/3's of the way through the series. This seems like a good place to call it quits.

The first part, investigators, was boring. Sure it gave me some information ..But still never fond of police-investigator types of stories.
So happy that we came to see Hide again!
Kaneki is complex with all the sweetness (thank you very much ) and killing mode. And he has developed physically too . ( I wish Touka chan saw it)
Ah Touka! I see how you care about him^^
And plot twist :

I can see why others might find this volume boring, but I quite liked the change of pace! Slowing down to focus on the doves and our main ghouls rather than a constant barrage of intense fights was kind of nice, especially with tensions rising left and right. And talk about an ending... that plot twist was great.

*ATTENZIONE CONTIENE SPOILERS*

Come sempre.

20.10.19 the things I failed to mention in my original review: the introduction of my girl akira mado, the return of hide, kuro&shiro, roma and the fiend himself, donato porpora. also we get some important info on the technology behind quinke manufacturing (the canon suzuya/jason 13 ship has finally sailed) + some other things for future references.

28.03.18 pretty good for a filler. some scheming, snooping around, overall shady stuff happening. I wanna see the gourmet restaurant raid animated so badly, man I stan the hell out of this new messy kaneki 😩👏🏼 btw how dare you tease me with the cute little bunny toy episode that left me IN TEARS?? where is justice for touka and myself? 😪 💔
ANYWAY, that last panel just confirmed what I (and probably everyone else, too) already suspected and I couldn’t be happier about that. really looking forward to the exploration of that character 👀🔍

well well. i didn't expect this goodness. the earlier volumes were simular to the anime. i was flipping the page's knowing whats coming. but now i became a bit curious. i even i scratched my head countless times. flipping the pages frowningly asking myself did i skipped one or two episodes. but i realized i didn't. that's why they always says. dont judge a manga by its anime.😆. the manga side tracked the anime. so yeah I'm enjoying.

Don't know why but I loved it ♥
The reason was probably Akira, though

Despite reading a lot of mixed reviews on this volume, I thought it was FABULOUS!! I think it may be because there were hardly any action scenes in it which made it very easy to understand what was happening. I enjoyed the various stories dedicated to the investigators and Juuzou Suzuya is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. Dare I say that Tsukiyama is also growing on me? I love how morally grey he is and I don’t trust him AT ALL but what can I say...he is charming in a sinister way.

This volume revealed quite a bit and that ENDING!!! I did not see that coming! Consider me SHOOK!

I can’t wait to start volume 10!

2nd half (Ghouls) much stronger for me than the 1st half (Investigators). Very solid ending; continuing on.

I like how this had a small time skip going on. Especially cause this is where the anime starts to falter yet the Manga is actually picking up steam.

So after the brutal last volume this one shows us what Kankei and his crew have been up to. All their missions and their goals for the future. What Kankei has become and how powerful he is now and as a leader. Yet he's still funny and goofy at times. Everything opposite of what the show gave us sadly. Then we also get to see the Doves and their mission and who's moving on up and what they are doing to eliminate the ghouls.

Good: Slower burn but it opens the world up to more and more possibilities. I also loved getting to see our favorite Dove leader now with a new partner and some good comedic moments. I thought the fights in this were great, and showing the evolution of a lot of characters. Also the Kankei moment with the jewelry left for his loved one was sad.

Bad: It's slower so it's jarring of the sudden change. Also half the volume moves away from the ghouls which some people don't like.

Overall a very very solid volume once more. A lot of slower moments that help build character and new exciting missions for a lot of them. A 4 out of 5.

SERIE TOKYO GHOUL vol. 9

Davvero.
Ci sono ancora tante, troppe cose in sospeso.
Voglio solo leggere immediatamente il prossimo!

The beginning of this volume was a bit slow, but gave some worthy info on the investigators and what they are dealing with. By the halfway point I was like...meh...other than Hide showing up, nothing big was happening. Then, the second half started and Kaneki was back with my favorite trash Tsukiyama and I was in it again. So many twists and I can't wait to see where this goes after this.

This volume didn't really have any action in it, and because of this it took me way longer to read than the last one did. It evened out to be how long manga usually takes me to read, but possibly even slower because there was kind of a lot of explanations. This wasn't too bad though.

This volume showed what goes on in between the big fights, during the sleuthing and planning stages. It was cool to see what the CCG investigators were up to as well as the ghouls. That has always been an interesting aspect of this story, how there's no clear-cut good or evil side. We see both sides, and both think that what they're doing is what's right.

Amon's new partner finally got introduced, which was nice. I can't wait to see their relationship progress more. Future spoilers: Also...... Amon is surprisingly attractive in the manga. I don't remember having these feelings when I watched the anime. But man, he's some eye candy. The woman on the cover (don't worry, I know who she is, I'm just trying to be vague to avoid spoilers) is also super pretty, which makes this one of my favourite covers.
Back cover ft. Amon
(This is the back cover with Amon on it.)

I'm going to talk about some more things that actually happened.

Good stuff. I enjoyed this more than the previous volume.

This is one of the main reason of starting reading this manga,
I watched the anime first, so the second season for me was very very strange something was missing the entire time, and so I came here to find it and I think I did...
This make sense, the build up of the second arc of the story...
his path to find the truth, the new players in the game
Sure it is not action packed like the previous volume but it is still great!!!
and Rize scene is 3:) 3:) 3:)

Another great volume. Reading the reviews about the first half is making me cringe though. The first half is only boring if you're a stupid weeb who only wants to see protagonists flexing their muscles every ten seconds. Sometimes stories have to slow down and--guess what?-- tell an actual story. It can't all be mindless action every page. This volume is setting up new events after the climax of last volume. And it's still fucking great.

Another great addition to the series. This focuses on character development and is story driven. The Commission of Counter Ghoul gets a lot of gave time. The story of Ken and how he became a ghoul is explored in this volume. This installment is a little brighter in tone compared to previous volumes. Thanks!
