I didn’t believe in love at first sight, until I first saw Lucas Kade.

I was giving swimming lessons to children when I first saw him. Turns out one of the kids was Lucas’s little brother. So, I’d be seeing a lot more of Lucas. And that was just fine with me.

I had a lot going on—a freshman at an elite college, first time away from home, and, oh yeah, roommates with a girl I’d been sent to spy on. I wasn’t exactly looking for anything exclusive. Something casual, though, would be great.

But there was nothing casual about my feelings for Lucas.

He was a townie, hiding a secret, and I knew better than to get involved. I was always the sensible one, the peacekeeper.

Before I knew it…I was In Too Deep.

Solid 4 star read!

Really enjoyed this one. It didn't necessarily have anything that wowed me, but I thought it was really well written.

It had a good storyline, not exactly like everything else out there. It had some laugh out loud moments and some good steam.

Kind of an opposites attract storyline.....the rich politicians daughter and the college drop-out townie.

None of the MCs annoyed me and there wasn't any stupid drama. Yay!

Looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series.....intrigued by both Jane and Sydney!

This wasn't an interesting story at all. First of all, the MCs were acting like hormonal teenagers. No way i could call it love. Pure lust is more appropriate. Second, the climax where this love will be tested ends in about 4 chapters that we have seen done in most romantic movies. It was unbelievable. And they didn't really talk about what he did he just apologized and it's all good. Third, the characters were all flat. Their responses more robotic and unemotional. I didn't feel any kind of bond between either Lucas and Stick or Jane and Lily.

This book actually surprised me. I didn’t expect much from it, but it didn’t really disappoint. The characters were well developed in my opinion and they just didn’t feel bland. I liked Lucas a lot and the relationship he had with his brother, Andy, as well as Lily.

I LOVE this book! Lily is a college freshman who is teaching swimming lessons for at-risk kids. Lucas is taking care of his little brother, Andy when he meets his swim instructor Lily. I love how Lucas and Lily meet and how their relationship develops. Lucas is a fantastic hero - I love that he is not perfect but his heart is in the right place. Lily is strong and loyal. I love that even though she comes from a different lifestyle than Lucas, she isn't a judgmental snob. The sex scenes were very steamy (in more ways than one!) The supporting characters were really interesting, I'm so excited to read Jane's book next and can't wait to find out who she is going to end up with. I really enjoyed this book, it's going to be a fantastic series!!!! Highly recommend!!!

Trying to clear my kindle of old titles, I came across In Too Deep by Mara Jacobs. Like most of the books on my kindle, I get them, and then by the time I read them some I have forgotten or have no idea what they are actually about. All I knew with this one judging by the cover was that it was a new adult college fiction read as it talked about freshman and that it was set possibly in a dorm as mentioned roomies. The book starts with our main female character Lily teaching swimming lessons to kids from lower-income homes, one little boy in particular Andy whom we see throughout the book gets picked up by his older brother Lucas. Lily never believed in love at first sight, but she has fallen hard for Lucas. Lucas works as a janitor at a wealthy school and this reminded me of Channing Tatum in Step Up movie when he fell for the rich ballet dancer. The book then introduces us to Jane who has a twisted story of her own and it looks like Lily is roommates with her due to their parents and was sent to be a spy and report back on Jane's actions and make sure she stays out of the spotlight. In Too Deep was an instant attraction novel and one of those reads of opposites attract in terms of class e.g. Lily - upper class, a politician for a father, and Lucas - dead father, poor and a mother in rehab. Can these two who were brought up in completely different upbringings find a middle point and date or are their differences what will keep them apart? Find out in this indie read "In too Deep" which had the OG "New adult" angst feel to the book.

Sure, the romance was all hot and heavy right from the start but the whole story was boring and 'basic', as they mention a hundred times. There really was not much of a story beyond the romance and even that was more of a lust at first sight type of thing.

Sweet NA romance. The way h/H got together so quickly seemed a bit unrealistic but otherwise it was a low-angst, pleasant read.

My Thoughts
For a free read I was really happy with the book. Both main characters actually acted their age. I liked how Andy was included in the plot and wasn't just a plot device used at the beginning to bring them together. A good start to the beginning of the series.

picked this up to try and get myself back into romance (and cause it was free on the kindle store). I had fun. Lucas and lily had me giggling and kicking my feet at the start. Although it was insta love, I didn't mind it initially, but it really started to grate on me after halfway through. Where's the tension? the angst?? the FEELS. The spice was pretty mid, .5🌶 but the friendships were great. Jane is the best friend you could ever ask for and someone you want in your corner, and Andy was the sweetest little boy, although I wish we got to see more of him. This was overall pretty decent but not really memorable. I do wanna read the other girls' story, so I'll be continuing!

Lily Spaulding, daughter of a political consultant, is a freshman at an elite college , sent to keep an eye on her room-mate Jane and keep her out of trouble.
But Lily may be the one needing help to stay out of trouble... When carrying out her swimming lessons with young kids, she notices Lucas Kade, older brother of one of her students, Andy. As soon as she sees Lucas, she knows she wants him and can tell he feels the same way.
Lucas has a dark past and is trying to stay on the straight and narrow to be a good role model for Andy. But when push comes to shove, can Lucas ever rid himself of his past? And where does Lily fit in to his life?

This book had me crying - out of despair and from laughter.

Note: Although part of a trilogy, still a stand-alone book. Next in series focuses on different characters from this book.

Lily: Lily is the daughter of a political consultant and comes from a family of money. She fits in with the stereotype student that attends her college. However, she doesn't want to be there - she doesn't want to have to look out for Jane and keep her out of trouble and instead befriends Jane. I liked her from the start: I loved her daring attitude and confidence that she had when around Lucas but also her loyalty to her friend and backbone to stand up to her father, is all truly admirable. It frustrated me so much how much a loyal person she was when she wouldn't break her promise to her father!!! But overall, she is a heroin that you can't really fault for much. She never created petty or insecure drama and always remained so level headed throughout everything.

Lucas: Mmmmm...Ultimate Book Boyfriend from the start. He's probably one of the best angst/troubled/bad boy in a novel written by a female. He never went overboard with mushy talk or steered clear of it completely - he actually acted like a genuine love-struck 21 year old who didn't know how to react to his feelings. He didn't automatically profess his undying love in a grandeur way, but still got it across fairly easily... hard to describe but when you know how a lot of guys his age act and read NA, it can be a huge downfall if the love interest is too "fantastical" and not realistic enough.

Insta-Love: I hate insta-love. I always moan about it and unfortunately this is how their story begins - literally love at first sight. It was probably more lust at first sight than anything more but either way... A little bit annoying none-the-less. Especially how it all just worked out from the beginning and there was no cat and mouse chase - they both just presumed the other was game. It just took away from believing their love was real as it all was a bit too quick. There was good tension and build up to when they finally got together, but even still, I feel this could've been so much more exciting if there was more story between the Locker Room Saga and The Graffiti Wall.

Story: As a story overall though, I enjoyed it. Typical opposites attract and good girl/bad boy drama, but it had its own originality and twists. Even Lucas with his past, it wasn't that predictable and showed that he wasn't actually a bad person or had a really traumatic rough life, although still had it bad. There was a very good balancing of the supposed "bad" and "perfect" lives both Lucas and Lily had so it helped blend the dichotomy of them being total opposites.

5-Stars?: I think what was missing for me was just "more". I wanted more insight into Lily's life other than the random glimpses we got from phone-calls. We found out so much about Lucas, but hardly anything about Lily. As already said, I would've liked to have seen a better build up between Lucas and Lily rather than mutual assumption their feelings were reciprocated. Also, there wasn't really a lot of drama and when Lucas got into trouble again, I expected there to be more hostility from Lily - although she understood his circumstance, I don't think an 18 year old hormonal female would immediately get it. There needed to be just a little bit of anger or annoyance or some repercussion... but maybe that's just me seeking more drama. I just felt my tears of sadness hadn't even dried when they got back together so didn't seem like a lot of drawn out misery.

Overall:

This is exactly what it seems - a fun, exciting love story between two people seemingly not meant for each other. You get sucked in from page one and the tension and lust will keep you up reading for hours until you're finished.

This book was okay. The relationships and dynamics were good, but as individual characters I didn't care for them much. The scenes when each character is alone was quite flat and bland, but when there's two of them together it's interesting. I did enjoy this book as a quick read but It didn't pique my interest enough to ever want to read more from this series.

This is weird but I liked the outside story more than the relationship between Lily and Lucas. They "fell in love" too fast. Shared there secrets too fast. And knew all about each other too fast. I feel like they skipped too many steps. And I missed the courtship that could have made the book better.

Free download. This was a really enjoyable read about Lily and Lucus. Lily Spaulding has been sent to Bribury to start her college experience but also keep an eye on Jane Winters as per her fathers request. Regardless they are now close friends. Lily does the right things and tries to maintain her integrity but when she see's Lucas Kade for the first time she starts to see what she wants and needs in her life. Lucas see's Lily while she gives his little brother swimming lessons and he sees his second chance to get his life straight. They connect in a way they shouldn't being from opposite sides of life but it doesn't matter. It takes no time at all for them to fall in love and it's beautiful. Unfortunately when things go against you they tend to rock the firmest of minds.
The story, plot and writing were great, the characters were good and the book had the right amount of chemistry and banter to be realistic. This is a sweet romance, kind of forbidden but loving and honest. Lily and Lucas' relationship is lovely and the intimate moments are very well written and hot but not in a crude way. There is angst, which keeps you gripped, and the idea moves into the next book in the series. Overall a great read, with a good story and great love story. I would highly recommend.

Predictable

Rich girl, bad boy, Daddy doesn't approve.

Lily is a freshman swimming instructor who fells madly in love with Lucas, her students brother.

Theses "love at first site" stories have shaking my head. I have read many and I can count on one hand the one's that felt real to me. This isn't one. My 40-something self just doesn't see it.
On their second meeting, she gets in the car with him, goes to some unknown place to her and they have a hot and heavy make out session. I was like WTH is she thinking!?

It's a decent story with decent writing. It's a bit sentimental and sappy for me my jaded self, but it would make a good distraction on a rainy day.

In Too Deep is a book about two young adults who fall in love much too quickly after they stared at each other during one of Lily's lessons where she taught children how to swim and Lucas' little brother almost drowned because she wasn't paying attention. They jump into a relationship very quickly which is probably why this book was only 208 pages.
The insta-love theme is not one that I usually enjoy and I don't know why I keep reading it. I never find it entertaining because there is never any real tension between the two main characters and this book was not an exception. The writing and storyline were bland, there was no weight to the story and it was such a common theme that I almost felt like I had read the book before. There was nothing 'wrong' with the book, I was just extremely bored.
The only character with any real personality was Lily's roommate Jane. She was strong-willed and didn't let anyone tell her what to do. She was her own person and she was extremely prideful, which i respect. Their neighbour, Sydney, was barely even present in the book and only seemed to be there so that she could go out to parties with them, which they did way too much.
When Lily first hangs out with Lucas, they take a drive along with Jane and his friend, Stick. During that, stick brings up how all the girls who go to their college are copies of each other and he calls them 'Bribury Basics'. After he says this Lily feels insecure because she fits his description of a 'Bribury Basic'. This sticks with her during the book and by the end, she feels confident that she is a unique individual and not a 'Bribury Basic'. I have to disagree with her though. Sure she was nice and caring, but she was also extremely boring. If we compare her to other girls in romance novels I think she would blend in with them extremely easily. The only way she would be unique is if she was compared to good female characters in romance books because her level of boredom would be so low next to them.
This book wasn't anything special and it wasn't even a trope I was interested in so that made it extra boring. Overall, 2 Stars.

At first, I was hesitant to dive into In Too Deep. I expected the story to be slow and I would lose focus.

This book proved me wrong, and I'm pleased I gave it a chance. Reading about the physical intimacy between the characters is one of my favorite parts of the book. Lucas and Lily’s connection is palpable, heartwarming, and, occasionally, arousing. LOL.

The author delivered on my expectations, and the smex scenes occurred much earlier in the book than I had expected.

Our tongues danced and played and he tilted his mouth for a better angle, taking the kiss even deeper. I took my hands from the cold metal of the car and placed them on the warm cotton of Lucas’s hoodie.

“Jesus, Lily,” he said, and took my mouth again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he stepped closer to me, leaned into me. My fleece pulled up and I could feel the denim of his jeans on my bare belly.

I tugged on his hand. “Lucas,” I whispered. I leaned back into the corner of the couch, pulling him with me. He didn’t resist, but he didn’t fall on top of me, either. “I don’t want to go to any party tonight. I just want to be with you.”

A finger smoothed along the edge of my pants, half on the material of my leggings, half on my skin. He left a trail of fire as he gently brushed that finger along my waistband.

The main characters are engrossing, and their love for each other is evident in every scene. The love, connection, and chemistry between them bled from every word on the page. I couldn't help but fall in love with these sweet and beautiful characters.

I was blown away by how well the author wrote the details. The writing struck a perfect balance, allowing readers to imagine the story vividly.

The characters in the book felt so real that I found myself missing them after finishing it, especially Lily and the charming male lead Lucas.

In addition to the tantalizingly passionate scenes, I was entranced by Lily's mother, and how Lily's resilience allowed her to conquer the hurdles her mother placed in her path.

I admire how strong Lily's character is. The character’s resilience was inspiring.

The author's words breathed life into the characters, making them seem real.

LOVED this book. I devoured this in less than 24 hours! I was so consumed with this entire book that I had to know exactly how this ended. I did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did. It is a very easy and short read and it will for sure keep you hooked reading this. It has so much detail in just a short book and was emotional and has you invested in the characters.
