Lacey finds herself bound in a sex party when all she was planning on doing is to tell her boss about his scheming assistant. But Chris has wanted her since her first laid eyes on her, even with his policy of dating employees.
So I admit it. Sort of loved this one and was left wanting more of the story. There was something about these two that just worked and the start of the story left me wanting to experience so much more of it.

The h is a temp at the H's company, she's had a crush on him for a while. She accidentally overhears his receptionist making plans to get compromising pics of him at a sex party. Conveniently ALL the details,including address, dress code and admittance trick are included in the convo. Thus our h dresses appropriately, of course has the necessary card on hand and goes off to warn her boss. She manages to save the day but they have sex with her tied up in the limo. They then embark on a luke warm dom/sub relationship with some seriously ridiculous stuff happening in the background.
Eventually the evil OW strikes again and the H believes some bs that causes our h to flee town. She's managed to find a new job and start a new life a WHOLE THIRTY minutes away 😂 . Meanwhile he's pining for her until he's informed the evil woman was about to strike again
Then luke warm make up sex, evil villain is dispatched and a HFN ending.

This is a four part serial I guess, to me they're too short to be novellas though. Anyway I tried it for the smut but honestly wasn't impressed. I remember reading this author years ago and liking the books so I may try another series at some point

I’ve been trying to work through all the books I downloaded years ago because they were free. That is how I happened to find this book in my collection. For similar reasons I recently read ‘Rush’ by this author. I must say, I preferred The Interview much more. There were far fewer spelling mistakes and the story line wasn’t too bad. I also actually liked the female character, she seemed kind and loyal but also strong.
However, there were so many parts of this book that made me physically cringe. The wording felt so ridiculous, it actually made me feel physically uncomfortable to read at times. That being said, this showed a slightly better side to Lucia’s writing than ‘rush’ did.

This book wasn’t bad, except I felt the hero was a bit pushy and overbearing, even for a dominant. I didn’t really care for him, but the heroine was likable. I would have liked to see how their relationship developed over time, perhaps he would have softened toward her. As it stood, this was a teaser for further stories.

In The Interview book 1 we get just enough heat and intrigue that leaves you wanting more. Not continuing on in the series just isn't an option if you've enjoyed it this far. I definitely want to read the rest of the series....gotta know how things shake out for Lacey and Christopher.
Keep 'em coming, I love these short and sexy reads in between the more lengthy ones. Sometimes the best things come in small packages!

Story: 2/2 stars
Were some of the plot points and details a little too convenient (like Lacey's phone not working properly)? Probably, but I didn't hate that fact all that much. How else would the plot have moved forward if it weren't for that tiny technical mix-up? Answer: it wouldn't have and then we wouldn't have this story to begin with. Did the story have everything we typically see in a romance book? Maybe not. But it's a short story/novella; there will be some beats that are combined for not shown yet because there are three other books when the beats can show up. There was an external conflict that drove the love interests together; there was the pull together and the push apart; and there is an ending that isn't a Happily Ever After but it leaves me wanting more to get to that HEA.
Characters: 2/2 stars
As of right now, these characters are basic. But I don't mean basic as in boring or simple or anything remotely negative. I mean basic as in this book created a great foundation for the rest of the series. The first book gives readers a sense of who these characters are pre-meet-cute and during their meet-cute/first real interaction. They aren't supposed to change that much in the span of 30 pages, but this book does allow these characters the chance to start their grow and develop further over the course of the next three books. The character development has been sparked and the fire will only grow. I, for one, am excited to see how these two grow together (or apart) over the course of the series.

The writing style wasn't bad. That right there sounds negative and like the writing was bad. Overall, I didn't mind the voice and style while reading. Other than the dialogue between Sarah and Lacey in the beginning having a weird pacing, the dialogue was purposeful and moved the story along.
(Here's the "but") But I noted many small errors in my version. Really small errors that could have been easily avoided with another read-through. If you don't mind this sort of thing, then you should be fine. But for me, because I noted and the errors tripped me up, I had to reread sentences a few times until I was like "oh, that's what she meant."
Experience: 2/2 stars
In all honesty, I had downloaded this book a while ago and wanted to read something fun and quick now. I didn't intend to read any other books in the series because my TBR list is constantly growing. But let me tell you about this ending (no spoilers I promise)! I laughed (not in a mocking or negative way at all). I loved it so much. And it was what Jordan did (that shouldn't have worked) that I want to read the rest of the series now. Of course Christopher would be like "in order to fight for Lacey, this is the only logical step I need to do" and it's not logical at all (not for a broke recent-grad with student loans such as me). A man like Christopher with all the money in the world can get away with the ending.
Aftermath: .5/2 stars
The biggest aftermath I'm getting from this book is how to balance suspense with the short story/novella form. For instance, we almost immediately learn who the voice on the phone was (the person who wanted to blackmail Christopher). And while on one hand, yes, we need to have that information quickly. Having the readers know the same time as Lacey found out made sense, and the confirmation at the blackmailer at the end worked. Yet I still wondered if there was a way to lengthen that mystery just a little bit. Whether that be having the readers experience Lacey trying to figure it out before she has that "ah-ha" moment. I guess my question is how much does the form allow for mystery here.
I read another review that critiqued the limo scene between Christopher and Lacey. The reviewer made valid points about how that scene was closer to bondage yet there were no safe words discussed. And as Christopher seemed well-verse in that community, I would think that he would establish boundaries and the like. I didn't mind the scene during my reading and I thought it was consensual. Yet this is giving me something to think about.
Overall: 7.5/10 stars (or in Goodreads terms 3.75/5

The more I read these books the more I have to consider the white psyche and accept that the mentally that justified colonialism and slavery still exists. It is buried deeper but is manifesting in different ways. But where all nations and tribes began and operated alike, the white race has been predominant for centuries.
And all others seek to copy the superior in power and strength.
The manifest wrestling for the right to frame sexual identify that plays out in different books by white females indicates a legacy that never fully denies or accept an ugly truth that is intimate, personal and communal. Yet it is human.
It then points to a riveting reality that racism and any other ism can never be truly overthrown or erased.
The dynamics of power will not allow it. The constant reversal between the identify of fact and opinion undermines it. But the secret delight we take in these personal choices ensures it. The desperate pain of many allows it.

This book is the beginning of a full story. It wasn’t bad, although it wasn’t great either. There are several flaws, like how should a CEO of a big company know a low level temporary employer? Also there are some safety issues I want to address: Punishing a sub while angry, tying her without giving a safeword, having unprotected sex. Absolutely, not Safe, Sane and Consensual.
I’m not interested enough to read the rest of the story.

Not Much To It
This is a very fast paced read, introducing us to Lacey who is employed by Christopher. She discovers a plot to blackmail him when he attends a BDSM party, and she tries to stop that from happening.
There is no plot whatsoever. The scene was adequate, but it was short lived and had very little detail. The story is only 48 pages and the story suffered greatly due to this.

I just finished The Interview and really liked it. It was an enjoyable read that definitely whet my appetite for more. I really look forward to reading the rest of the series. Even though this story was only 30 pages, it felt like it was much longer. I connected to the characters and really want to know how all of this will turn out.

A twist in the storyline.
It was a good story but the grammar was awful. The were times when the female was referred to as a male, i.e. " She put her hands on her chest for balance" when it should have been ... On HIS chest.

I found the book lame and overtly farcical . The connection bdsm and the protagonist is forced boring and nonsensical.
