An Eager Audience: A Cuckold Erotic Romance

Rate this book
Kim Rowland is stunned when her husband -- Oscar -- tells her that he is turned on by imagining her being with another man. Oscar explains that this is called a cuckold fantasy, which is also known as hotwife. This news comes as quite a turn-around, since Oscar used to be upset about Kim flirting with other men.

When Kim gets over her surprise at Oscar's sudden confession, she realizes that if they go down this road, she could achieve one of her fantasies: a threesome with two men.

This story follows the path that Kim and Oscar take in discussing their fantasies, shopping for men on a dating website, and more. Along the way, Kim discovers something else. That she likes being the center of attention and showing off. And having two men in the audience is better than one.

But the story isn't just about sex. It's also about Kim and Oscar's relationship, in how trying out the cuckold and menage fantasies adds spice to their lives. How the adventures ignite vigor in them. How they appreciate each other more. Ultimately, the story is about a loving couple being adventurous, and how people make connections with one another.

I think August is a good writer and I like his books. The concepts incorporated and relationships built are interesting. The insights of his characters are worth considering.

However, I get frustrated by the repetition. I wish the author would give the readers some credit in remembering how the characters got to where they are in the story. If August could not repeat major ideas or turning points and limit repeating subtle points to just once, the stories would dance along and keep the reader's interest.

I must admit I skipped a number of pages as I could see the author was going to restate or rehash major points in the story.

I like a quote attributed to Mark Twain along the lines of: "I wrote you a long letter because I didn't have time to write a short one." I believe this sentiment is directly applicable to novels. I feel many readers will give up on August's novels because they get frustrated at the repetition.

Having said that, I liked this story and the characters in it. I liked the relationships they built, the communication between them and the sex and foreplay.

Given the opportunity, I would have rated this novel a 3.5, but opted for a 4 rather than a 3.
