The Goodbye Man

Rate this book
Dysfunctional empires were made to fall.

I am Caesar. Broken and conflicted. I am a man who gives false goodness to those who crave it. I provide solace to the ones who beg to be saved, giving them the goodbyes they want. But, my quiet little world is about to be shattered by the whispers from heaven and hell.

I am Mateo. Unlovable and unworthy. I am the boy everyone runs from. I keep love close to me in little jars of perfection, reminding me of a thousand goodbyes I never had to say, because I left them before they could leave me.

I am Svetlana. Dirty and Used. Birthed into brutality while still trying to comprehend my version of normal. I am an injured lamb, eaten by filthy wolves day after day. Just as salvation seems like it's within reach, a goodbye from this awful world is all that I wish for.

Physical and emotional abuse is also apparent throughout this book with graphic sex scenes, both consensual and non-sensual. Reader discretion is highly advised. "Make them feel safe and they will sign their lives over to you. Love a lonely girl and she will give you anything."

This is the DARKEST and most DISTURBING book I have read to date. The Goodbye Man and his nephew gather people from the streets that wish to die and harvest their organs in the Red Market organ trade. These two disturbed men take in a born whore, Svetlana, and things get even sicker as they both develop feelings for her. There is rape, murder, sex with the dead, and ohh so many things that will have me sleeping with a night light for days to come.

Still, I kept reading because well, it was a very well written captivating sick story. I’m thrilled that I’m heading to Disney World this Friday with my family because it’s going to take a lot of rides on the Small World ride to undo flashes of this story in my mind.

"Love me and I will stay forever. It's only real if I can feel it."

This book does indeed end with cliffhanger and damn it I'll probably one click because these authors delivered a sick enough story that I'm still intrigued to find out more.

"This is as close to hell as you can get without dying."

This book was the sh*t. Really! First thing first I want to say this – don’t expect hearts and flowers reading this one. This is not a romance. What to expect? To be disturbed. This was one of the darkest book I have ever read. It was gory, sick and more than once it made me cringe. Everyone in this book is fu*ked-up, crazy, sick, you name it. And the worst part is that I really enjoyed this little ‘gem’. Now, it goes without saying this book is not for everyone. Not even for all those who love dark romance, because like I mentioned above there’s no romance here. IMO, of course.

“The Goodbye Man” was a very unique read. It was like nothing I have ever read. And I have to say, personally I love this aspect in my books. This book left me with my mouth hanging open more times than I can count and kept my attention from start to finish. Needless to say I can wait to read the next installment in the series. Yes, this was not a standalone and unfortunately for me it ended with a cliffhanger. It wasn’t so bad, since I expected it, but come on a cliffhanger is a cliffhanger, right?

description

“People don’t tell other people’s stories. Not when you are stuck in your own dread, spending forever trying to find a way to trudge out of a normal that is suffocating.”

So...the story fallows three characters, everyone one of them more fucked-up and damaged than the other. They are flawed, yet fascinating. Svetlana is 17 years old and she’s a prostitute since she was 12. Her pimp is her own father and unfortunately for her he doesn’t care about this aspect. After all he was the one who took her virginity. Her life is not easy. She’s raped and beaten almost every day, sometimes left for dead. She doesn’t have a home and she’s left every day with little to no food. Svetlana wants one single thing – to be loved, protected and cherished.

“I am not the worst thing that can happen to you, but I will be the last.”

description

Caesar is the Goodbye Man . He saves lives, but don’t think he’s a good man. He’s definitely not. To save lives he has to take lives first. No one misses the one he takes. He’s called 'The Goodbye Man' because the last words anyone who wants to be ‘saved’ are his goodbyes. Caesar doesn’t have a conscience. He has no problem sleeping at night, he’s not conflicted, confused or troubled. He is who he is and he owns it.

description

“Life had lied to me. Needing someone is a lie. Real people don’t exist. Everyone gets fucked by the world, thrown to hell, put through pain. Death is where it’s at. Death is beauty. Simple. Forever. “

Matteo is Caesar’s nephew. He helps his uncle, he’s his right hand. He’s not a normal person and he knows it, he founds pleasures in the most unconventional ways and he’s dead inside. He believes he’s unworthy of being loved, so he leaves before anyone can leave him. He doesn’t get attached to beating hearts, because he hates life and the emotions that come with life.

When Caesar meets Svetlana...again...he wants to save her, really save her. Everything gets complicated for all three of them when both men start to have some...inappropriate feelings for the young girl.

description

While the story was dark and disturbing for the most part, I have to say it was addicting. I enjoyed the way the story was written. There are some interesting twists and turns. Some of them I expected, but some of them left me speechless. At times I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I was not kidding when I said everyone in this book is fucked-up. There are many graphic scenes that left me more than disturbed. There is .

This is the perfect read for you if you want something dark&disturbing that will blow your mind, but my advice before you dive in, read the authors’ warning.

Oh dear. This is one of those books, I have no idea how to rate. I wouldn't say I enjoyed this one, at all. It was not an easy read, but I have to give the author praise for this original, well-written story line. I also may be a bit scared of her.

"This is as close to hell as you can get without dying."

The Goodbye Man, tells the story of 3 people, and it's probably one of the darkest, nausea-inducing reads I've ever read.

description
Caesar
If you are on these streets, you are born into the world of the hopeless and you will die in it. If you are lucky, I will get you and you will say your goodbye, and if you are not, someone else will get you first.

Mateo
Life had lied to me. Needing someone is a lie. Real people don't exist. Everyone gets fucked by the world, thrown to hell, put through pain. Death is where it's at Death is beauty. Simple. Forever.

Svetlana
I am nothing more than a pesky cockroach that has learned the ferocious ways of the world. A whore birthed a whore.

Caesar runs a human waste disposal, organ harvesting business, all part of The Red Market, along with his nephew, Mateo. They collect random street people, people broken down, disillusioned, people who wish for death - Caesar makes them an offer, death or he can return them to their life.

To save lives I have to take lives first, nothing is free. One life for twenty-five others and a large amount of money for me. It is a fair exchange; no one misses the ones I take. There is never anyone to say goodbye to, just me at the end of their miserable lives.

Now, when young Svetlana finds herself rescued by Caesar, things start to get even more disturbing. Caesar cannot say goodbye to her, and being faced with a truth he has denied for years, the feelings he has for her are destroying him. So he tries to convince Mateo to be with her, to see what it's like to be with a responsive woman, and not a dead dolly. With the attention of both men, Svetlana just wants to be loved. I did struggle with this one at times, it felt like a lot going on, and I found myself overwhelmed, more than once. Brutal rape, sex with the comatose, - it was a lot. I'm still processing, I think. This is a very graphic read,I would suggest anyone considering this one, to take the author's warning - VERY SERIOUSLY.

I tried reading this a few months back but struggled to get into it, but made a promise to myself that I would come back to it and that dark day has arrived, I'm only a few pages in naively eating breakfast whilst reading this and I just about puked in my mouth!! GAH!! Dry, finger f*ucked, blood and gore running down her legs, then told to lick his fingers clean (puke in the mouth) shudders!!

“He sticks his blood covered fingers into my mouth while ramming his dick inside of me” ~ Svetlana.

There's grey books, dark books, but this book is black, black as the night is dark, comparing to past reads that I thought were dark don't hold a candle to this book..This is as black as I have gone..There is no light bright enough to shine it's light on this book..

WELCOME TO THE DARKSIDE

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I love dark, gritty, stomach curdling, mind fuck reads so I'm keen to see how dark this can actually push me..NOTHING has touched on black before like this book..

BE VERY AFRAID

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I've not read or come across this author before but wanting to take a walk on the dark side needed me to see how dark this author would push me out of my comfort zone..

My comfort zone is non existant it's been kicked to the curb and stomped on!!

I'm guessing this book isn't about kittens and puppy dogs and all those cuddly things that melt your heart or unicorns farting out glitter this is one sick as f*ck book..

This book is like coming across a car wreck as you drive past you try really hard not to look but like reading this book no matter how sick it is and your completely out of your comfort zone you just keep reading..

4.25 Hate/Love Emotional Read

Soooo...I wasn't going to read this book but my buddies Jahy and Carla raved about how good this book was but it wasn't until I read Jennifer's review that I knew I had to give it a shot.

Normally I can stomach some really sick shit, but this book....shit this book made me cringe so many times in the beginning that at one point, I really thought I would have to shelf it. I trudged on and was surprised how this story twisted into one I could really get into.

I think the biggest thing I have to share with you is how these authors took a character that I absolutely HATED at first (well not so much hated but just thought he was a sick fuck) and by the last 1/4 of the book, I fucking LOVED him and felt for him. I empathized with him, I wanted a happy ever after for him but instead we get a cliffhanger.

I want to stress the trigger warnings because this book delves into soooo many of them ---- but it's not just a book about some fucked up shit - this is a book about a girl who has been dealt the worst life you could think possible and is saved by the very man who has always loved her but didn't know how to show it.

This book will flip between many POV's and I promise there will be times you want to throw your reader against the wall or you will find your mouth hung open with drool dripping out but soldier on and underneath all the fucked up shit going on...you will find a true love story.

You will fall in love with Lettie and your heart will break for her....you will definitely hate Pavel...Ceasar will steal your heart and Mateo will have you second guessing your morals.

Let me love you.

My hats off to these two authors...I'm stunned how they turned my opinions around to a total 360.

First let me say....often times I come across books with warnings about the content and I get all excited...and when I'm done reading it..My first thought is..

that wasn't dark at all!!!..But...this warning....OMG...it's one you shouldn't take lightly!!...These authors will gut punch...sucker punch...and bitch slap you with so much fuckupness (is that even a word)...that you will be left wondering did I just read that!!..This is mindfuckery at its best!!..so if your into the dark...Im talking that Stevie Wonder I can't see shit dark...with some taboo subject matter thrown in..then IMO this is the best book out there!!!! photo 5t.gif

I was first introduced to MP's writing in the Monster series, which I freaking enjoyed. Talk about brutal, uninhibited and grotesque writing. Absolutely superb dramatization of such a story line. So when I saw The Goodbye Man, pop up on Goodreads, with the added bonus of a second author's input. I was like ' hell freaking yeah' this can only blow me out of the park. So Ms. AG, I may never have read any of your previous books, but you just got a #1 fan out of me.

The Goodbye Man is a unique story, that encompasses some seriously dark and erotic themes. Rape, murder, suicide, death, gang rape and prostitution, drug abuse, necrophilia and incest. We're given three different characters, all intertwined within the novel. Each twisted and even darker than the other. In this book, nothing will seem as it is and should be. It will twist you up and drop you hard.

Once upon a time, the little gypsy princess had dreams within the hellacious concrete jungle. But, dreams would soon turn into nightmares and darkness would be the only way she lived. The tarnished, unlovable girl promised herself she wouldn't remember the day she was broken, but like all bad things, it would sidle up as hopelessness snaked its way around her heart, killing her slowly.

Seventeen year old, Svetlana, was born into a life of prostitution. Her mother was a prostitute, pimped out by her father, in order to purchase drugs for his vicious habit. She was safe, as safe as can be, until the day her mother was murdered, and her father turned to her, as his new and fresh body.

Used, day in and day out, raped, beaten, with little to no food, no shelter, except cardboard boxes, or an abandoned apartment. Dirty, physically and metaphorically.

Hope. The one feeling a girl like her could never allow herself to feel. Hope slowly killed her. Hope, made her vulnerable. Hope turned a young child into a sex slave.

All Svetlana wants is love. She wants to feel protected and cherished.

"... Love a lonely girl and she will give you anything."

********

Caesar is a dealer in spare parts. Spare human parts, that is. His family business is profitable and he uses persons that no one will miss. Healthy organs for a hefty price. He is called The Goodbye Man because the last words anybody hears, is his whispered goodbyes. Caesar suffers from Misophonia - a condition linked to the hatred of sound, in which negative emotions - anger, flight, hatred and disgust- are triggered by specific sounds. Caesar hates whispering especially.

He uses Svetlana's father to bring him persons desperate enough, in their current situations, that they beg him for that final Goodbye. Painless, and final. When he goes to request a body, he comes across a dirty, bloodied and bruised Svetlana. The images and emotions she evokes from Caesar, scare him. He should not feel, he does not feel. But Svetlana is his final Goodbye.

*******

I am Mateo. Unlovable and unworthy. I am the boy everyone runs from. I keep love close to me in little jars of perfection, reminding me of a thousand goodbyes I never had to say, because I left them before they could leave me.

Mateo is Caesar's nephew, his right hand in the spare parts business and a necrophiliac. He keeps all beautiful things, especially locks of hair, in glass jars. He believes he is unworthy of being loved, and so he leaves before anyone can leave him.

When Caesar first brings Svetlana to the warehouse, Mateo is confused, because she isn't a subject for spare parts. Mateo is warned off Svetlana, even though Caesar sees the way Mateo watches and lusts after her. She is living, and he shouldn't have feelings for the living.

As the story progresses, secrets are revealed, incest becomes abundant, and suicide is imminent. The darkness never stops and the euphoric feeling of salvation becomes a dream shattered by reality.

"This is as close to hell as you can get without dying."

There are some confusing moments for the reader, as each character recants the same scenes. Which can be difficult to follow. With that said, I overlooked this and continued on with my mouth hanging open.

“Lie down on the bed, little Lettie doll. Spread those bleeding pussy lips and let me see.”

This is the DARKEST book that I have ever read and that’s saying a lot because all I read are dark romances. I thought that nothing could of shocked me anymore and then I read this and I am fucking speechless!
This book is filled with some of the worst things that I have ever read In My Life!
There is underage rape, prostitution, incest, degradation, mental illness, physical and mental abuse, murder and not to mention fucking NECROPHILIA!

And the worst part is that this book made me SO FUCKING WET!!!!

“Your lively little fuck doll wants to play too, Mateo. Bet you haven’t seen a girl eat almost-dead pussy before, have you?”

I never thought that I would of been so disgusted with myself but here I fucking am!
I am So conflicted with my feelings towards this book because I know it is wrong, nothing in this book is remotely OK but my reaction and my body’s reaction towards it are making things difficult for me. I wanted to give this book 0 stars just because of how it made my body a traitor! But then it would be unfair because this story truly is brilliantly written! There is depth to the characters, the story progresses at a good paste, the plot thickens and the web that these ladies created is magic!

Svetlana is a 17 yr old prostitute who has been working the streets since she was 12.
Pavel is Svetlana’s father (and I use that term lightly) who is also her pimp.
Caesar is the Goodbye Man who harvests and sells body parts on the black market.
Mateo is Caesar’s nephew who is obsessed with fucking dead corpses.

Throw them all together and you know what you get? A MINDFUCKED MASTERPIECE!!

" The fire melds itself with my pussy lip, searing through my skin. The boiling sensation is too much. I am praying, begging, and pleading to both God and Lucifer for death, yet they don’t give it to me. “

This book left me questioning not only my morals but my sanity! It is disturbingly dark and raw and I am positively sure that this book is in a genre all by itself. This book is where darkness goes to sleep and I’m am bottling it up tight and locking it away in the darkest corners of my soul.

I have NEVER felt this way towards a book before, yes I’ve read some questionable things in my life but it has never been this dark or disturbing. This book exceeded any expectations I had prior to it an it truly defined the word DARK!

" She was my baby and I love her, and the love I feel is so wrong because my mind is so broken. I will never be able to love her like a father should. “

This book is not available for purchase and it’s not on any reading forums anymore. (The author sent it to me). I honestly don’t know If I would recommend this book because it crosses a line and pushes you to a place I doubt you can come back from but if you happen to get your hands on a copy please heed ALL WARNINGS! This is not one of those books that has a warning and doesn’t live up to it! This entire book is a trigger so if you’re even remotely sensitive please do not read this!

So there it is! My 5 star review of the most fucked up book I have ever read, the one that left me questioning so many things about myself but I still couldn’t find it in me to rate this anything less than what to deserves!

Now point me to book two 😭😭

5 Goodbye Stars!

"Readers, please note that this tale has graphic depiction of abuse including but not limited to; rape, physical torture, emotional abuse, murder, strong language, sexual degradation and humiliation, unconventional sexual practices, and detailed descriptions of several mental disorders."

If you decide to ride this ride, read the warning first. You have to be a certain kinda twisted to fully appreciate this story. Cover your eyes and look through your fingers, you know you want to.

No spoiler review. Advanced Reading Copy provided in exchange for an honest review.

This is an no holds bar, dark, taboo, twisted story. This isn't dark romance either. The characters are deeply scared, flawed, and completely original. I know you heard this before, but you have never read something like this before. I took this journey knowing that the authors took a chance, they went where the story took them, no matter the consequence. And I loved every bit. I can't help but want the unknown, I stand on the edge, I wanted someone to push my boundaries, these two delivered. Be prepared.

Nothing is easy in real life, the things we don't talk about, right? This book grabs fake and slashes it's throat. Let's get to the nitty gritty that people really do go through. What happens behind closed doors, or in broad day light, what happens in our worst nightmares. Never to say out loud. This is fiction, but it will make you think. Diving into the mind of the mentally unstable, the broken.

After I read this book, I researched the topics, the actual place, and I was shocked, slightly sick, and more intriguing than I had originally thought. The authors left nothing unspoken. They wrote a story that blows dark books out of the water, they went there. They set a bar, one that will be hard to top. Did I enjoy it? Yep, I loved the twistedness I felt in my stomach, the drop of my jaw, and most importantly the dysfunctional thoughts in my mind. This book pushed my morals out the window. Goodbye.

If you like to walk in a dark alley in a mini skirt, grab this, then let it grab you. Hold on and enjoy the fucking ride.

Please read the disclaimer

My thoughts...

Its very hard to review this story without giving the plots away.

What I can tell you is The Goodbye Man blew me away....
The writers have created a horror psychological mind blowing tale of 3 broken characters.

Svetlana Just wants to be loved...
Caesar Cannot escape from his quiet world, whispers....
Mateo Keeps his things of beauty locked in glass...

So deeply twisted and disturbing that you find yourself questioning at times what your reading.
But also probably one of the most unique brilliant stories I've read this year.
Totally consuming me...............

I'm a huge fan of the darker side but rarely now do I find a story that isn't the same as I've read before...
Its not a story I can recommend unless you are totally with the darker themes and I mean DARKER....

It does end on a cliffhanger but to be honest you would need a break in between books.

A 5 Star Plus

Goodbye for now

It's been 2 days and I can't wipe this off from my mind therefore I decided to add a star to my rate.

This is SO NOT the usual dark read.

It is MUCH much more darker than my friends and I normally read.
Like

Taboo is taboo right? There is no such thing as extremely taboo, I think...
Still, I want to say that this is extremely taboo.
I am not talking about the usual step brother forbidden story. BTW, this is the gif on my mind for the step brother's stories we are use to read.

Think in not acceptable, forbidden, illegal, illicit and depraved.
Think in creepy and bizarre.

What was holding my full 5th Star? The instalove.
It never seems real to me in a story this kind of insta-obssessive-love. Real?! Are you going mad, Jan? This is not a normal story with normal people.
Well, back to the instalove...Remember I mentioned I can't stop thinking about this? I have been asking myself: Why not? Why couldn't Mateo fall in CRAZY love with Svetlana? He was a psycho! bat shit crazy! scratch that! Everyone was crazy!

So, yes! Instalove accepted.

5 Creepy Crazy Stars!

What a bunch of crazy people!

READ THE DISCLAIMER because it would be unfair if this book gets a bad review because of its content. If you can't handle reading taboo, do not read it.

This story is one statement, like it or hate it, no in between. Among the "normal" people there is a dynasty of another 'type' of 'normal' people. They are the judge, jury and executioner. This book is 100% twisted.

Svetlana,

"...I exist to be a punching bag. Others are created for love. Me, I was made for hate. Until I understand what it all means, I can only survive. Surviving is all I have been doing since I was born"

Hazy memories of her mother, Martha, loving her and dying but accordingly the blood pouring out of her dead mother's orifices was her only clean memory. Only 4-years-old she was treated like waste by Pavel, her mother's husband. Pavel was her pimp, for some reason he treated Martha and Svetlana worse than his other whores.

Ceasar,

"To save lives I have to take lives first, nothing is free"

He is a monster with no conscience or restraint, a lord and executioner. Ceasar harvests body parts in the Red Market, an organization where transplantation of the organs are sold. He buys people, operates their organs and sells them to people who need the organs. He is also the Goodbye Man who offers people death. Ceasar is never physically ruthless unless anyone talks, he suffers from misophonia where certains sounds makes him react beyond control.

Mateo,

"I stared into the eyes that I love and fucked her cold body, euphoria dancing on every inch of my body"

Mateo is Ceasar's nephew. He is the swine that walks on two legs. He does the violent work for Ceasar. Ceasar takes him under his wing after he kills and fucks his dead cousin to avoid arrest. While his looks may charm nothing is normal about him. He loves to fuck unconscious people and collects their hair.

"This is what rotting alive feels like; being beaten alive, tortured, raped, and starved for days, yet still I cling onto life like a pesky little fucking rat."

At 17-years Svetlana has gone through a lot. Her long days and nights are of working her ass off trying to attract men to fuck her because her father needs drug money. Unrelenting hatred of her father leads her to Ceasar who recognizes her from his past.

"I feel sorry for her. I want to save her. I need her to live, I am not ready to say goodbye when I haven’t even said hello"

Ceasar is the only person who makes her feel safe. She loves him (the "love" endearment is very different here) but Ceasar stays away even though he wants her. I could predict Caesar's warriness but not untill his repetitive mumblings against himself to stay away from her. I wish there was more.

"I murder, fuck, love for a short time, and retreat, keeping a small token of the moments that they played with me like the dollies I used to adore so much"

Mateo is not complicated, he is a straight forward psycho. It was different for him when he wants Svetlana for he always prefers to have sex with corpse like humans.
Svetlana finds salvation in Ceasar and Mateo but I am disappointed when Ceasar leaves, it was like an abrupt ending. I was fixated at how this story would flourish with minimal characters at the beginning. I don't think there is love or obsession here, just mind-fuckery of twisted people with their own twisted intimacy, fondness. This was dark, disturbing and compelling read with a cliffhanger.

Ages: Ceasar - 44
Mateo - 30
Svetlana - 17

Warning: detailed scene of abuse/rape, incest

I'm not giving this a rating because I didn't finish it, but if I were going to then it would get 1 star. Why?

Because it is a bunch of fucked up, disgusting shit.

Reviewers keep stating to "read the warning" and that if you can't handle those types of things then don't read it. Really? Okay, fair enough. The issue I have is that the warning does not list what all this book encompasses. It says there are brutal and bloody acts, physical and emotional abuse, and graphic sex of both the consensual and non-consensual sort. Um, that is the least of what goes on.

For my friends who were wondering why I was so upset by this book and why it was too dark for even me, let me fill you in a bit.

That was absolutely horrid in itself, but I knew it would be rough before I started it so I continued the book. I assumed after that things could only get better from there. Yeah, ass out of you and me and all that shit.

Next, we are introduced to Caesar who That should have been noted in the warning, which it obviously wasn't.

Still, despite all of that, I was willing to continue the book to see where it was all going. At the 42% mark, I thought I had figured out what might be going on so I did a quick search of a certain term within the book. I was right.

What the fuck? No really, what in the actual fuck?!?

That's where I draw the line, and that is what REALLY should have been listed in the warning.

"Oh but Amy, the fabulous twist would be ruined with that warning!"

Twist? My ass. It's fucking sick. Warn your readers a bit better.

The Goodbye Man by A Giannocarro & Mary E Palmerin
4 stars!!

“This place is as close to hell as you can get without dying.”

When someone dares you to read a book you just have to…I mean I am no chicken when it comes to reading. I have certain genres that I just cannot read because they bore me to tears but dark is not one of them. There is something about reading a book that takes you out of your comfort zone, you get all those new sensations of dread, queasiness and that OMG does that really happen????

This book is disturbingly disgusting, it should have shocked me so much that I gave up but I found myself addicted, intrigued and compelled to finish, I couldn’t put it down. I found that because I was consumed by the story the actual acts that were happening didn’t really affect me as much as I thought they would. Yes they were horrible to read about, yes they churned my stomach, but I was so riveted to what I was reading I just pushed on regardless.

“Tears fall from my eyes as I come to the conclusion that this disorder is both disastrous and stunning. Chaotic and profound. Beautiful and decrepit.”

Underneath all this dark and disturbing, believe it or not there is a love story somewhere…three broken souls that you would think are beyond healing, yet maybe they may be each others salvation in some sick, demented way. Perhaps it takes two people that have gone through the horrors that they have to make sense of each other and understand each other, I don’t know, I’m no expert, but I found myself hoping that somehow something could be done for these characters, especially Svetlana. Caesar and Mateo were their own worst enemies, in their own convoluted way they thought that what they were doing was actually saving people from a fate worse than death and in a way I agree with them, but I still couldn’t have done what they did, but in their minds, they were helping.

“This isn’t supposed to happen to me. I don’t get attached to beating hearts.”

Please heed the warnings with regards to this book, think of any vile act and it is in here in some form or another, not limited to rape, child abuse, necrophilia, incest, drugs, organ trafficking, in fact there were so many taboo areas that I found that the more I read the less shocked I became.

“Cut my flesh, make me bleed. Give me the man that makes me burn with need.”

The trouble is though, I am sure that these things do happen in the real world and that is what saddens me the most, This book peels back those layers of misconceptions, that even behind the most inconspicuous of doors maybe just maybe something heinous is going on behind it. It may just look like an industrial building, with a perceived legitimate enterprise, but what is really happening? This book makes you ask yourself a lot of questions. I finished this book yesterday and I am still thinking about it, I just cannot get these characters out of my head.

“Kill them with kindness, slay them with a smile and murder them with a kiss.”

My heart was truly broken for Svetlana, from a little child and since the death of her mother she has known nothing but brutality, starvation and poverty, all she wanted was to be loved, cared for and wanted, not much for a child to want bearing in mind the expectation of kids today. It takes the kindness of a stranger to save her from near death, but is she just being taken from one dark, disgusting mess to another?

“You’d think that after five years of being in these situations, I could travel far away to a place where I could become detached. Too bad it doesn’t work that way. Every part of my sensory system is magnified by a million. My vision, hearing, taste and lastly, feeling.”

I really cannot go into this story, only to warn you to expect the unexpected. I honestly don’t think this book is for everyone, it is not a pretty read in any respect. It will take you beyond your comfort zone, it may make you physically sick and it will certainly mess with your head, but at the end of the day it was well written and disturbingly addictive reading. I did have a few issues with it though, it does need a proofread, there were quite a few errors but they didn’t detract from my “enjoyment” of the book. I really don’t think “enjoyment” is to be read in the same context with regards to this book. My other issue was some scenes were repeated in three different POV’s. This did become extremely repetitive especially when the same things were happening more or less verbatim.

So in summary, if you want to push your boundaries and your limits, you have the constitution of an ox and you like the dark and depraved, then this is the book for you. Being a romance junkie, I found it a refreshing break from the norm and something that I will not forget. With regards to the end I feel that there is another book coming and I for one will be reading. I need to find out what happens to these characters as sick and twisted as they are they certainly left a lasting impression.

“I am the Goodbye Man.”

This book has me thinking what kinda warped mind I've got as I literally inhaled this book in one sitting... Maybe with a few little breathers to grab some alcohol lol

As soon as I read the warning I couldn't resist reading it. However it didn't prepare me for the depths of darkness these two authors would take me to. On several occasions while reading this I couldn't believe what I was reading.

I couldn't believe how much I wanted to devour this warped intense dark read. Does that make me warped??? Maybe it does lol however I read this as the erotic horror fiction that it is.

Have I mentioned the ending? Oh my dayz. Speechless!!!

Please read this warning before you 1-click. If you like the dark warped kinda read then give this a go. Be warned its a twisted read that will push your boundaries for the dark side.

Looking forward to reading more by these two fantastic authors.

**Graphic content warning including detailed depiction of brutal, bloody acts. Physical and emotional abuse is also apparent throughout this book with graphic sex scenes, both consensual and non-sensual. Reader discretion is highly advised. Not suitable for readers under the age of eighteen or those who are easily offended by the above mentioned acts.**

UPDATE: The authors have chosen to remove these books from their collection. Today - 05/14/19 will be the last day you can purchase. WARNING: these are DARK AF!

This has got to be the most depraved book I have ever read. It's been on my list for a very long time, but could never make myself read it. I finally had time to dive in and read both books, and WOW! I couldn't put them down.

The writing was on point, these two authors came to flawlessly. The story was gruesome and taboo and I loved it! Mateo was honestly the hardest for me to like. His sickness really made me sick. Caesar had the most heart to me, even if you couldn't tell by a lot of his actions. And Svetlana....my heart just ached for her.

I kept wondering why Mateo called her Lettie and I kept expecting that to be explained. I don't know, is that a shortened version of Svetlana?

Usually, the more dark and disturbing a book is, the more likely it is that I'm going to love it. What can I say, I love a good dark read! Unfortunately, this book had troves of depraved content and yet it fell flat for me anyway.

I just never felt a connection with any of the characters, which is crucial to my enjoyment of a story. It probably didn't help that the story was told from multiple POVs, with timelines overlapping. Usually, I don't mind having multiple viewpoints, but this time around it left me feeling disoriented and overstimulated. There was just "too much" going on.

There was Svetlana, a poor girl born into a life of abuse and prostitution. Her life was bleak, and that's being optimistic. Why she didn't just take a nosedive off of a tall building or jump in front of a train is a mystery to me. The fact that she continued to survive speaks to her strength. Nonetheless, she was damaged so badly that she was a shell of a person and I couldn't relate to her at all.

Then we have Juan, the young male prostitute who tries to show Svetlana some kindness. He initially seeks to befriend her, but turns cold when she gains the attentions of Mateo. His role was primarily that of a lover scorned.

Caesar is known as the "Goodbye Man" because he offers the gift of a peaceful death to those whose lives are so painful that they welcome it. He harvests their organs and sells them on the black, or rather red, market. Despite his criminal status, he is viewed as a savior for most of this story.

Mateo is Caesar's nephew. He helps with the harvesting operation. Like Caesar, Mateo has some serious mental instabilities. While Caesar is prone to fits of violence and sexual assault when triggered by soft whispers and voices, Mateo prefers his sexual encounters to be less heated. In fact, he prefers the unconscious, comatose "donors" over a live and willing partner. He frequently has his way with the corpse-like patients.

In the end, I just couldn't relate to any of them. I pitied Svetlana, but I didn't feel really connected to her in any way. Her character was just so pathetic, I couldn't feel much beyond sympathy for her. I felt much the same about Juan, as well.

The plethora of other characters just disgusted me. From necrophilia to incest to rape, there was no shortage of depravity in this book. However, while I don't shy away from a dark read, this one didn't do it for me.

Perhaps it was just too much. Too many POVs. Too many depraved acts. Too many despicable characters.

Wow ~ The Goodbye Man will totally blow your mind and twist you up, dark does not even cover this book, take notice of the warnings and do not read if you feel this is not the book for you !!! I hate to read bad reviews that comment people could not even finish the book.. because this book delivers what it says it would.

Caesar ~ A man who likes the peace & quiet he believes he saves those who live in hell by giving them their Goodbye's.

Mateo lives in a whole different world created by what he thinks he deserves and shows love the only way he knows how.

Svetlana has been born into a life of pure evil a living nightmare, is Caesar the man to save her or is Mateo ?

Ashleigh & Mary are amazing and have pushed every taboo subject and left me thinking how sick am I that I am loving this story !

3 DARK DARK DARK STARS

Okay, so this one has been labelled "the darkest book out there". OF COURSE I HAD TO READ IT.
Is it the darkest book I've ever read? Easily, yes. Whatever trigger you may have, it freaking pushes it. Physical and emotional abuse, necrophilia, relationship that is more than forbidden, and more and more and more.

The first 50% of the book was AMAZING.
And ever since something certain happened...it went downhill and kind of dragged. The authors did this thing I really hate where they reharsh every situation from multiple POV's and it just dragged like hell.

It was good, but it wasn't great.

3 stars.

2.5 Dark, Sick and Disgusting Stars

I love dark books and this one started out with a bang. I was actually impressed that two authors took a chance and wrote about some of the horrific things that people will do to others in order to gain financial profit. By the time I got halfway through the book I felt there was a lot of repetition.

Lettie; "Others are created for love. Me, I was made for hate. Until I understand what it all means, I can only survive. Surviving is all I have been doing since I was born." I read this and similar statements by Lettie so many times throughout the book that it was starting to irritate me.

Caesar; "Loving her is so wrong, not just for me, but for Mateo too." I can't figure out why Caesar kept going back for more until I got to the worst part which made think, Enough!!!! this man is sick.. This is where I draw the line.

Mateo; "This isn’t supposed to happen to me. I don’t get attached to beating hearts." This guy is the sickest of the sick.

description

Events were moving very slow during the second part of the book and I considered not finishing it however my curiosity got the better of me. I was very disappointed the book ended with a cliff hanger. Will I read the next book? I highly doubt it!!

☆☆READ THE DISCLAIMER☆☆

I'm not kidding. Read the disclaimer, twice.

Dirty. Raw. Gritty. Emotional. This story will make you question everything you were taught when it comes to right or wrong.

I must be a sick individual for loving something so horrendously disgusting. Your boundaries are going to be pushed, thrown to the side. Do not be ashamed if you have to walk away and come back.
There are not many things that turn my stomach and keep me intrigued at the same time, this book did. Just when I thought the story would go one way, Ashleigh and Mary turned it in the other direction.
Svetlana, Caesar and Mateo will suck you into a world that that is scary, heartbreaking and deep.
Caesar is coming for you, are you ready for it...?

Full review. Below.

"""Ok I can't put my words together to make coherent sentences at the mo. I need time to recover before I can put my thoughts toward a review.
Please please read and listen to the disclaimers.this book is not for the fain hearted.
This being said it is an amazing tale. I need book two."""

Review part two.
This will not be a full long-winded blog review, I for one hate them. I like to be able to read the story for myself and have the full effect without already knowing what will happen.
I don't want to be responsible for anyone feeling robbed of the emotional ride this book will take you on.

Ok so after having time to think about this book I feel I can now right my review.

So as I've said before please read and take note of the disclaimer.
This book is like no other dark book I have read.
It will have you fighting your natural beliefs.
Questioning yourself every step of the way.
The internal battle I had in my mind while reading this was like no other.
When you know that something should be wrong but at the same time you can't help but try to justify what your reading.
Yep this is exactly what Ashleigh and Mary put you through in this tale.

Red market book one is not for people who like the idea of a dark read. It's for seasoned dark readers who no what to expect (even then you will be questing what the f*ck you are reading). Believe you me. If you pick up this book thinks you will get a love story with a HEA you are sadly mistaken.
If you think you can pick up this book and read it wothout a internal battle yet again you will be sadly mistaken.
This book is dark it is raw it is taboo but it is effing amazing.
Mary and Ashleigh have such an amazing talent.
I cannot "CANNOT" recommend this book enough but please please take the disclaimer seriously.

*seriously amazing twisted dark read.*
I can't wait to see what everyone else will think xx
Ps. I think the dark duo have ruined me for dark books. This I feel is un top-able.
Every "dark read" I have read since has left me slightly disappointed.
You lady's really have set the bar high :*.
Thank you for allowing me to join you on your journey.
I cannot wait for book two xx

I don't know how to review this without sounding completely jaded. It probably contained damn near every taboo known to man. Some of them were even gag worthy, and the warning doesn't even begin to prepare you. At first, though the content was difficult at times, I was engrossed in the story simply because I had never read the like. A new and interesting plot line, it sucked me in and kept me turning the pages, despite cringing at the content.
The scenes are discussed from all POV's, and this is where it lost me. There is a way to do this, and then there's repetition. I found myself skimming to get to the new information a different POV would provide and aggravated that the entire scene set-up was described once again. There was also a lot of repetition in Svetlana's thoughts. This is where I sound horribly apathetic, and I apologize, but there are only so many times I can read, "For I am a broken girl birthed from no one. Grown from no one. Loved by no one." and about how she wants to die before I scream in frustration that I get the point already. You don't have to tell me. I know that sounds awful. Yes, she had a hard life. Yes, death is a sweeter option. But this goes on and on and on ad nauseam. Three stars for having a truly original plot and throwing in a diagnosis I'd never heard of .

Ok so several kitten videos later I have come up with some words.

I shouldn’t love this story.
It’s disturbing and wrong.
It has me questioning everything, including everyone.
I have never read a more disturbing story.
I have never loved a story more.
If there was ever an author that I would want to tell a story like this it is these two women.
Mary and Ashleigh have told a tale that should not be told.
But they did.
And they did it with no holds bar. It was all put out there.
Everything.
And they did it in such a way that I LOVED IT.
But I shouldn’t.
Am I talking in riddles?
Well once Lettie, Caesar, Mateo and Juan are introduced to your world you will be talking in riddles as well.
I absolutely with out a doubt will stalk these women for more.
I want it.
I shouldn’t.
But I do.
I need it.
It’s wrong.
But it’s so damn good.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION

I always think that I've reached my limitations when it comes to Dark Romance genre since I love reading twisted and grisly romances, however, I was wrong because after reading this I have this sudden realization of what the fuck did I just read! This book in my opinion is the darkest of all the books out there. Red Market have it all, so for those intentions, it wasn't for everyone particularly if you do have triggers and sensitive to dark subjects.

I went in blind reading this and I have no guilt. I will say that the beginning of the book was very intense and dreadful , resulting in me puking my guts out (not a joke) and not wanting to go on with the story.

Authors disclaimer per se, this is not a romance instead this is emotional distress and manipulation and I conceded in some point.

While I'm reading this I just wished for it to be done. because I felt like I am on a roller coaster ride, everything was so chaotic and emotional, I just want to end my suffering, it's too much.

Overall I give these a 3.5-4 rating. The characters and storyline are fucked up and maddening. What an unforgettable reading episode.

Side Note: ALL of the said above is being described in a graphic & explicit form.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION
