When the formidable power of Jessa Lebron's mark was unleashed, during her impulsive foray into Vanguard, the American supernatural prison, she learned the truth. She's a dual shifter: wolf, and as an added bonus, dragon - of the fluffy persuasion. Yep, she's one special cupcake.

Now, pursued by the Four, powerful hunters of the dragon marked, she has no choice but to run. At least she has her impossibly gorgeous and infuriating best friends by her side, the Compass quads. Not only are they powerful and hella useful in a fight, but most of the time they're also semi-entertaining too.

With only one month left until the supposed resurrection of the dragon king, this pack will find out soon enough what happens in the world of the dragon mystics.

(Recommended 17+ due to use of language and sexual situations. These supernaturals like to curse, please be aware before purchasing)

Second re-read: 30.08.2020
MIGHT contain spoilers. I hate, hate, hate that Maximus found his mate. Hate it. And Absolutely - yes with a capital of A - hate Mischa. While I truly love Braxton and Jessa together, I don't like how the dynamic in their pack has change with new members. I so don't like Maximus caring for other women than his mother and Jessa. I still wish Braxton, Jessa and Maximus would be together. I just can't get that feeling out of my head. That's all I'm gonna say for this re-read. Mischa ruins the book, and so does Maximus finding a mate.

Re-read: 10.03.2017
MIGHT contain spoilers. I love the Compasses, though Braxton the most. I love how he is with Jessa Lebron; being everything she needs. I'm still sadden by Maximus finding his truemate, and I still hate Mischa (has since the beginning) and I specially hate Mischa with Maximus. Haaaaate it. I can't get rid of this damn dream of mine wanting Braxton and Jessa and Maximus together. There's no point in the dream, as I know how it all ends, but still....it's a damn dream. Considering my hatred towards Mischa and the thing with Maximus was even stronger this time around, my rating has gone down a whole damn star since my first read of this book.

WHAT?! How can you end it like that?!? I mean WTF?! Are you trying to kill us with the need to know, Jaymin Eve?
“You have no idea what I would do to keep you safe, Jessa. No idea.”

I love this book, just as I expected I would, but I have to be honest I was a bit disappointed... Here's the thing, I love Braxton, there is NO doubt about that, however I also love Maximus and I had hopes for both of them being Jessa's mates, and when Maximus found his true mate, I was CRUSHED! It's really ruined things for me.. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and Jessa's first reaction to it was so heartbreaking because I felt it too :/ Maximus finding a mate is, yes, the reason for only 4 stars for this book, which tells me how crushed I am.
“I choose you.” I leaned in closer. “I love you.” I’d said it a million times before, but now it meant something more. And I was running out of chances to tell him.

Now the story was pretty cool. I adored Braxton and Jessa's relationship, and we finally got some action! Braxton's possessiveness and his love for Jessa is so amazing and sexy, and to be frankly honest, I'm so freaking jealous of Jessa, but since I love Jessa, I'll just praise her for her awesomeness :P She's is a fabulous woman and her sassiness and her comments is perfect! And of course, her loyalty is heart touching.
“Cardia doesn’t change anything about us. She knows you are my family, my pack, and that if she makes me choose, I will choose you.”

I love all the Compasses, but as you probably have figured out, Braxton and Maximus is my favorites, and I cannot help but to feel a HUGE sadness that Maximus is no longer just Jessa's. I know it's selfish, but him finding a mate so early was like a slap to the face and he wasn't so much in the book as I would have liked. I don't know why, but I feel he is so different now, which sucks. I also wished that Jessa would be more heartbroken... I mean she just "lost" Maximus in a way and his mate sucks. Well, we haven't really gotten to know her yet, but I hate her already.
Jonathon had his head tented in his hands. “It seems no matter what I do, I can’t keep my girls out of danger.”

Another person I don't like is Jessa's sister, Mischa, man I have lost ALL respect for her! I know the supernatural world is new to her, but you don't turn your back on family! But Jessa's dad, Jonathon, is so lovable! I adore him and hope we get even more from him in next book! (Just him though, things are so awkward when Jessa's mother, Lienda, is there...) Louis, my heart aches for you :( But I love you dedication and love for Jessa and I hope you become a real part of the pack ♥
“Don’t you get it, Jessa babe? Next to our mates – which we don’t even have yet – you are the most important person to us. If we lose you, well … we lose everything.”

Larkspur will be an awesome and interesting character to get to know! I cannot wait for next book. To see where this is going! Though this book was a bit predictable, (I had already guessed a lot of what happened before it happened) but I really enjoyed the read and Jessa and her Compasses. I really hope the in the next book we get to see more of just Jessa and the Compasses. Like without Mischa, mates and girlfriends, just sayin'!
“I’m going to stop you right there, because the crazy train has already left the station and I think you missed your seat.”

So lets just say that I'll be patiently waiting for next book... Yeah, If you didn't catch my meaning, I meant that I'll be partially checking Jaymin Eve's page for updates constantly...like a crazy person...cuz you know, I want more.

UNBELIEVABLE

Jaymin Eve , yu have just created a whole new meaning of HIGH AND DRY.

Really now, WTF!!!!

I mean why would yu leave us at an ending like that. WHY???? I can't exactly comprehend the audacity of this cliffhanger.

*sigh*
Not much we can do now is there?

Moving on to the book!
I am an avid fantasy reader. And this book, make it this series has made me once again glad to love this fantastic genre.

The appeal in this series isn't in its plot nor is it in its world. Its not something spectacularly new either. The attraction of this series are its
1. Powerful alpha heroine -Jessa
2. Extremely powerful and attractive male leads (The compass brothers)
3. Pretty ok secondary characters
4. And the very steamy romance

I have to say , I have read my share of novels but never have I ever come across a heroine as lucky as Jessa.
I mean hello?! She has the hottest alphas (not one or 2 but FRIGGN FOUR) entwined around her claws .
If that wasn't enough she is one of a kind very powerful supernatural. Oh and she also gets adopted as a sister by the most ppwerful (can't help but mention SEXY AS SIN) wizard too.

To me the highlight was Braxton , the alpha dragon and the compass brother that held Jessas heart. When they were together**boom pow pow** chemistry explosion. And did I memtion alpha?

Its a fantastic read. The characters are spectacular and dayum, Jessa on top of it is hilariously funny. And to top it all off she is a foodmaniac!

All in all comes totally recommended! :)

Oh my goodness, the way the first book ended, I had to dive right into this one! I'm absolutely in love with this series. It's been a really long time since I fell this hard for a series. Not since I fell in love with The Covenant series by Jennifer L Armentrout and The Psy-Changling series by Nalini Singh have I felt this way about a book series.

This book picks up right where book 1 ended. Jessa finds herself fleeing to the marked sanctuary in Romania. She brings her quad friends but her feeling for Braxton are beginning to change. She's always felt a strong friendship for him but now she's thinking she wants it to be more. Afraid to ruin their friendship but struggling to deal with these new feelings, she has to decide what's important to her. And besides that, all around her things are falling apart. Her sister is getting way too involved with a set of twins that reek of evil. What's a dual shifter to do?

We learn more about the quads as their role in the rise of the king becomes clear. Max is having some struggles and we aren't really sure what's up with him. Tyler definitely has some issues going on with the very cute witch Grace. And Jacob is the stable one. I was glad that Louis continues to be part of the story. I always feel better when that scorer is around. I love all the secondary characters and it was while reading this book that I discovered there are more books beyond the trilogy. I quickly bought Broken Compass and I seriously NEED to know when Magical Compass will be out and available for me to snatch up! AND I want to know if there will be a book for Jacob!

The writing in these books are great. I enjoy the detail that she gives her readers. Sometimes I feel like it breaks the flow of the action but generally I enjoy it. I adore the characters she's developed and the story is magical. Who can resist a set of quads who have protective tendencies over a best friend shifter girl? Certainly not this reader. I'd give these book 5 whole stars except for just a few little bits that bugged me. It's not enough to stop me from loving these books. They are just not quite as polished as they could be.

I've been listening to the audio books and really enjoying the narrator. I have a few books that get listened to over and over again. I use them as stress relief. I can listen to them with half an ear because I know them so well. They relax me while I'm grading or working on lesson plans. I turn to them when I can't sleep. This series has earned that status - a big deal for me. I will have them on repeat. Finish the series only to start it again. It's a favorite thing of mine to do.

If you love paranormal romance, you MUST read this series. It is just that good. Any PNR lover is going to want these books. I can't recommend them enough.

It's so impossible to just read one paranormal/urban fantasy book when I get in the mood. I'll seriously binge read like 3 different series back-to-back. This second book was still a lot of fun and I liked getting to know more about the world and mythology - and seeing Jessa and Braxton finally get together was great too.

“I’m going to stop you right there, because the crazy train has already left the station and I think you missed your seat.”

Continuing right where the first, Dragon Marked, left off, Jessa has to deal with the new revelation of her and her twin's unique marks, finding horrors hidden in a prison system that is showing itself more tricky and corrupt than anyone figured, come to terms with what the legends of her mark means and the uprising war potential with the old king.

As strong as the first in terms of action, the story takes off further with taking liberties on their location. Gone is the mere existing in town as the group breaks into prisons and meets new people (finally.) There is a hefty change for one of the Compass brother, Maximus, who finds a somewhat suitable companion that creates some minor ripples. The sister is growing on me the more I read the series since at first I was uncertain, but now she's a sweet - if not slightly angsty - compadre....until she does something weird and sides with people other than family. Never a good idea; I wanted to throttle her by the end of the book instead of sisterly hugs. Braxton gets to flex his muscles and show his possessiveness and interest in Jessa (enter "like" checkmark here).

The dual mate possibility is just odd. It leaves enough doubt on if a love triangle will brew, or if this is just not an official confirmation of how silly it is to even consider Jessa would go after someone other than Braxton. I mean, really now, that would be a giant slap to the reader when its pretty obvious from page one these two have been basically bonded to the hip since birth.

The book works well not only because of the nifty world-building (there's so many paranormals that fill this pot), but because of the characters. The brothers may be slightly cliche at times, but Jessa shows herself to be a strong and likeable protagonist. Louis as the witch steals every page he graces. Even Jessa's father is a character gem - have to like the man's dedication to his family.

I don't read much New Adult, but you can't tell the age exception much reading this. I wouldn't have even thought of it unless I was looking at tags to see what I read that fit a reading challenge I had on the sideline. There's some steam but nothing overly pure or unconvincing about these characters - they've been living steadily for awhile without any wide-eyed innocence of youth.

If you enjoyed the first, you'll lap this one up because it takes existing relationships and makes them stronger, adds in a lot of plot twists, surprises and changes for the story-line.

Sadly these books end on cliffhangers, but thankfully the full series is out and ready for binging.

Good

The book carried on immediately where the first book ended. I couldn’t wait to read this book and I was not disappointed.
The chemistry between them is hot, some good action and fast paced. Bring on the next one.

What a fantastic sequal! It's rare for me to like I sequal more than I liked its predecessor, but I definitely did with Dragon Mystics.

Dragon Mystics starts where book one left off with Jessa, The Compasses, Mischa, and Grace running from Stratford to get Jessa and Mischa away from The Four who are hunting them because they are dragon marked. They are following directions Louis the sorcerer gave them to a secret sanctuary for the dragon marked.

Now let me say I read this back in September. The first time I read it I loved it however my feelings did change on certain things this second time around.

The first time I read this novel I loved Jessa! She was strong, sassy, and a total badass. She is thrown one punch after another and she continues to take it all in stride and continues to fight on.

And that didn't change. She was still all that and a bag of potato chips.

But.

This second time around I felt Jessa came off like a total bitch, especially towards her sister Mischa. There were times where instead of trying to be understanding with someone wether it was Mischa or someone else, she was annoyed and angry because they just weren't as strong and badass as the great Jessa was! The bitchy vibes were strong and I don't know how that didn't bother me the first time around.

Which brings me to my biggest change of heart between my first read and my reread... Mischa.

The first time around I couldn't stand Mischa! She was so naive, stupid, and weak. She betrayed her family and got Jessa kidnapped by the Dragon King. It was really hard to see Jessa so tough and strong and her twin so meak and weak.

However.

This time around I really put myself in Mischa's shoes and I felt such heartache and sympathy for her!

She knows nothing of the supernatural world, for all intents and purposes she is human, at least in mind. She's thrown into this new world and this new culture where things are different. All she wants is to bond with Jessa, in the one scene when they ask who is rooming with who Mischa says Jessa with a huge smile and such hope, and yet in Jessa's inner dialogue she gets annoyed because she would rather sleep with one of the Compasses. And there were a few scenes like this, of Mischa reaching out and Jessa not really caring much.

Jessa had the Compasses, Louis and pretty much everyone.... poor Mischa had no one, she has no pack, she was not included at all, so I understood the reasoning behind her actions a little more this second time around.

Overall I still love this sequel just as much as I did the first time! The plot kept me glued to my kindle, I loved the romance and the "mate" premise, I loved the action and the twists and turns, and I LOVED my Compasses, especially Brax! I don't want to give the plot away but Jessa and the gang learn more about themselves and the battle they soon face. And Jessa finally gets her true mate..... kinda.

It was all addicting and I can't wait to get to book three! I highly recommend!

Second time read, first time review.

Dragon Mystics is still receiving the same rating I gave it the first time. I absolutely love this series. Jess and the four compasses are such an amazing group of friends. Heck, the romances even were hot. I was so happy that I got some glimpses of Braxton and Jessa together again. Mischa is still the annoying sister to me because she just seems to ruin things somehow. It's like her gift.

Now besides Mischa annoying me, the siren twins were beyond annoying. Once they were introduced I already knew that they were trouble. I wasn't surprised (again) when they turned out to be evil. However, I did love the guys at the end. THEY WENT SAVAGE! I loved it. I love how protective they are about Jessa.. like Mischa who? They will do anything and everything to protect the one they love: Jessa. I love their whole alpha pack so much that I can't wait to dive back into the third book.

I miss everyone already. I want to see more romance, revenge, and I don't know what else.. maybe a happy ending. I just need more guys! Overall, I loved this book. Jaymin does a great job of skipping the terrible sequel trend. I wish that this series never ends.. but since I've already read it I know it does. Here's to wishful thinking?!?

4.5 cliffhanger ending & as Layla so eloquently said about her twin...

"Holy shit. Dumbass alert. Seriously, someone needed to save us from her bleeding heart, they were playing her like a violin. And all of us had to pay now."

& they're likely to be paying for it for the length of book 3.

Conjecture: it be interesting to include the Dragon mate's POV in book 3

Wow what a cliff hanger!!!! I love it and hate it at the same time!!

Jessa is one of my fav heroines. Strong, smart, loyal, and smart-ass which is my favorite traits for a FMC. She has her unusual pack of the Four Compass brothers, a super sexy sorcerer Louis, her parents, and recently discovered weakling twin sister. Just to clarify so there is no doubt....if I could get my hands on Mischa I would grab her by the back of the head and slam it onto a desk a few hundred times until she woke up and quit being so naive. She is the sole reason this dropped to a 4 star for me.

I found myself a little surprised at my feelings on Brax this book. He is an incredibly powerful alpha dragon. His intent is to give Jessa some slack being as she is an alpha as well, but it took away from his dominance which I did not love. Although, I do see where Eve was going with this. It is a means to show he has respect for Jessa and has no intention of taming her.

Max has several things that are causing HUGE question marks for me and if his story goes in the direction I am anticipating I will be disappointed. He deserves a kick ass mate as well, but I got a feeling his will lack luster. But I digress.

Such a great cliff hanger! I am snagging book 3 asap!!!

Happy Reading,
DD

Holy Shit and Damnation!
Well, that escalated fast. Hell!

So a general, overview sorta review here.
Real tackling at the end of the next book.

Okay, so I would have probably finished this yesterday but see, Umaiya has a problem with anything other than absolute and total monogamy. Even the hint of things being otherwise, really puts me off.
So it took me an entire day to convince myself to keep reading.

That being said, No.
The author did not play me.
It was merely "suggested"
Best part?
Our h recoiled the same way I did.
Strongly.
My kinda girl, a one man woman.

Now the other thing that I found worth mentioning.
I don't know about you but when I read about twin sisters, it's pretty common for one to be the Badass "No One Tells Me What To Do" Leader and the other to be the Meek "*head down* Yes, Sir. Whatever You Say, Sir" Follower.

Now this wasn't any different but unlike in the other cases, I LOVED how Jessa did not defend her sister's action and rather once again, like yours truly, got pissed off and wanted to rip her a new one.

Now I may not be a wolf but I am 22 years old and I too have been living in the human world for the entirety of those years. So her shit sticks attitude and "woe is me" "I don't fit in" behaviour, got on my nerves like none other.

I CAN NOT stand anyone living without a backbone.
That shit BITES.
Not just the person themselves but also, the ones around them, majorly.
It is not cool.

What's worse is how society defends these actions.
"They meant well."
"Not everyone can be a leader."
"They have it hard, cut 'em some slack."

They don't have it harder, we all go through the same thing.
The only difference is, not everyone thinks of themselves as a martyr.
And some of us, take actual steps to overcome this flaw.

Right. Excuse the rant... :p
Pet peeve. You know how it is. ;)

On to the next book for me! :D
And hopefully for you too! ^_^

OOOOOOOOOooooooooooo This is getting really good. I was fully expecting this book to be just a filler - a bridge between books one and three, with no action or forward progression on the overall plot or character development. I was totally wrong. Especially the ending! There was a twist in there that floored me.

This series is pretty solid so far. The romance has heated up. It's still more action packed than romantic but highly entertaining and enjoyable. The ending of this book 2 is definitely a cliffhanger. There's no way I could not continue on.

I would say that maybe 4 stars is a little high but I'm rounding up.

Love love love.

Dragon Mystics is book 2 of the Supernatural Prison series. I am going to start book 3 now. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Audible: I added the whispersync audible narration to this kindle book. I didn't listen to a lot of it because I was so into the book that I wanted to read it because that is faster. The small amount that I did listen to was good though. The narrator was clear and easy to understand.

***3.5 stars***

“Oh shit, I was one of them now, one of those females I’d always pitied. Gone all soft for a male. Love did a real number on you. I barely recognized the hardass I used to be. I was all soft and fluffy … my wolf was like a goddamn kitty cat.”

3.5/5.0

I’m really waffling between a three and a four rating. I thoroughly enjoyed many parts of the story but there are a few things that really annoyed. Those things are all in the plot-line area, however, which is completely subjective so others may have no trouble at all. And, I must say, Ms. Eve’s writing (technically speaking) is top-notch. The story is tightly written and keeps the reader thoroughly engaged. SO...the minuses as I see them:

1. The stupid cliffhanger ending (BIG one). WHY does this immensely talented author continue to feel the need to manipulate readers in order to get them to continue her books? The story is good enough to make you want to continue without this underhanded tactic.
2. A couple of really stupd and annoying characters *cough Mischa*
3. Never been a big fan of characters beiing flung into alternate dimensions and having to find their way out. It always seems like unnecessary filler that just takes away from the overall story.

That being said, I LOVE the Compass/Jessa pack. I love the love and bond they share and I thoroughly enjoy taking the journey with them. SO, even with the annoyances and in spite of the blatant manipulation, I’ll be reading the next installment - thank heavens I’m coming to this series late and don’t have to wait. i’d have probably thrown the book at the wall and never read another Jaymin Eve book again otherwise. And, that would truly have been a shame.

Jessa, her newly discovered sister Mischa, and her four gorgeous best friends, are all on their way to Romania. They have to escape the powerful dragon-hunters, and they have to learn more about the mysterious dragon-marked.

This kicks off where Dragon Marked left us (clickee here for my review). Jessa is on the run from the dragon-hunters - the original quads, who are very old, and very powerful. In tow, she has pack and her sister, none of which would leave her side, even if there was a choice.

The world that Eve has created just keeps getting bigger, and more complex, building on what you know from the first book in the series. There's the history of the dragon-marked, and the introduction of the dying fae realm.
There's also the developing relationships. Mainly between Jessa and Braxton, as she finally stops fighting the fact that she wants to be with him. But also her sister Mischa, finding her place in the group dynamics; and Max's mate - I did not see that one coming!

I also like how there's a symmetry between the old quads and dragon-twins, and the new. There are surprising new power reveals for all our main characters, as they embrace their birthright, whilst still fighting the roles that people are trying to pin on them.

So why only the four stars, when Dragon Marked got the full five?
Dragon Mystics is a good book by any standard, but it just didn't captivate me as much as the first.

On a small note, I felt that it wasn't as smooth relaying some information. I don't know whether Eve changed track between writing book 1 and 2, but there were parts were there was a rush to explain something, and you obviously know it's gonna play a part. Like introducing Sirens; the two-mate story from the guys' mother. There are things that Jessa doesn't know, or the brothers have been withholding from her; which clashes with... well let's just say, Jessa doesn't strike me as the type of girl to not know stuff, and she's not afraid of kicking the arse of anyone who keeps a secret from her.

The second thing that annoyed me was how obsessed Jessa was with Braxton.
And I know, some of you are going to be shouting at me that this is a Paranormal Romance, and that Jessa and Braxton are trying to come to terms with the sudden rush of many feelings and physical needs.
Every reader has a different romance level, and while some will be going boz-eyed with pleasure, most of you won't be surprised that I don't have a romantic bone in my body. Dragon Marked just worked - it perfectly balanced the adventure and sexiness.
In Dragon Mystics, there are solid chunks where the adventure is put on a back burner, so Jessa can concentrate of the important task of jumping Braxton's bones (and everything else anatomical).

Anyway, it is still a very good series, and I'm definitely continuing with it!

Astrid's Description: As usual, I do not want to give away what was in the previous book. I will just say you continue to follow Jessa and her four boys.

Now let me start this off with some numbers:

Times she used "yeah" and "sure" to write something like this "Yeah, I know I am a badass..." -160

Times author said someone or thing, was badass or awesome- 25

Times author swore- 186

Times one character flipped off another character- 18 (Thought this would be a larger number due to grouping)

Number of times I was thrown for a loop and had no idea what would happen- 0

I was very disappointed with this book. You know I felt that the first book was okay, and that it was the new ideas the author brought to the table that had me reading more. This book was sloppy, predictable, and the main character began to annoy me.  She spends most of her time talking about how great she is. Then she walks right into a trap that you can see from a mile away. On top of all of that, we got to have some of these "gems".

"Despite my shitted off stance..."
*source Dragon Mystics by Jaymin Eve page 24

Her what stance? Can anyone tell my what a "shitted off stance" looks like?

"And all of them appeared to be distrustful and suspicion."
* source Dragon Mystics by Jaymin Eve page 55

You mean suspicious?

We also get several hand fulls of words that need an "s" or are past tense when they should be present. Oh, and I cannot forget that the characters that flip-flop on their personality when it is convenient for them to do so. Like this guy that seems almost monk like and then out of nowhere he flips another character off. The author literally says that it wasn't his personality type. Like COME ON!

Allow me to jump back to the swearing number. If you have read my blog for a while, then you know I have no problems with swearing in writing. I have a problem with it when it is used as a crutch. When it keeps an author from having to dig deeper for words to describe something or someone. This was the problem for this book. One of the characters (who I might add is talked about but is not in this book and only in one or two scenes in the first book) is described as Jessa's BEF (bitch enemy friend). The creativity is dead in this book. It was a bummer.

I stopped reading 88% of the way in. I could not take anymore of the terrible writing.

WOOOOOOAH.

Remember how I said book one went a little like this?

Well....book two was that...times 10.

We have our lovely Jessa, Mischa, the quads, and Louis up in a super secret base in Romania that hides dragon marked. There, Mischa falls in with the "fruit twins" who are old and bitchy and the opposite side of the coin to the Mischa-Jessa dynamic. All four are needed to bring the dragon king back. All the while, Some of the boys have been finding their true mates. That's a VERY basic gist.

Let's get to the one question that everyone has on their mind: WTF IS WRONG WITH MISCHA??????? Jessa said it best. About her own twin for that matter, so I don't even feel bad saying it:

"holy shit. Dumbass Alert."

Boohoo, things are going well with Maximus, let me JOIN THE EVIL SIDE. Even though I KNOW THEY'RE EVIL. There must be some good in them. THere must be some good reason they are threatening to kill me and blackmail Jessa. Definitely going to trust them over my family. JESUS MISCHA.

spoiler alerts about the romance up next. Read at your own discretion

We all knew it was coming, but the moment Jessa and Braxton got together. Ugh my ovaries. It was such a great seen. How could they not have been mates? They are perfect, except for Braxton's alpha-male "I'll carry you away at the slightest hint of danger" routine. NO.

Also, I'm a little sad Max is not taken, but I hope we get to know Cardia much better next book. No one really gave her a chance this time round, nor did we know ANYTHING about her. I'm also hoping Grace and Tyson figure their shit out in book 3. Come on, they've got to get together.

From the last chapter in book 2, I'm hoping that it's a hint that we're going to get a lot of Braxton POV in the next book. I AM SO EXCITED.

CLIFF HANGER ENDING

This was much better than the last book and slightly more interesting. They get sent to the sanctuary due to The Four almost capturing Jessa. They end up in Romania where the dragon King is supposed to eventually rise. Naturally this has everything to do with Jessa. The sanctuary is pretty cool has different zones and a food street which Jessa loves. Then she ends up in some place with a green sky with Braxton, and Braxton and Jessa have some chemistry that is starting to work its way through. I was super excited for this. Eventually they make it back but find out one of the brothers has found his true mate, and that Misha (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) is in with the evil marked twins. Braxton and Jessa also get together and then due to Misha's incompetence Jessa gets wrangled into a "weapon hunt" at the local prison of course not all goes as planned since they weren't told everything.

At the end of the book we get Braxton's pov and due to the events it's not looking good for Jessa. I am disappointed this ended in a cliff hanger, but it wasn't as bad as the last one. I know the conclusion of the series is supposed to be in the next book. I may read it soon or I may hold off for a bit I'm not sure, depends on how much their story sticks with me.

2% DNF - I was trying to remember why I had taken so long to read the sequel since the premise sounded so good. I was lazy to reread the first book so I thought, yolo lets wing it and hope my memory catches up. And wow! Guess what! It did... and I remember exactly three pages from reading this again, why I didn't pick up the second right away.

Let me quote the passage that instantly made me close my kindle: "Judging by my clothes, I’d already lost weight with the last few stressful weeks, and I was not okay with that. A girl needs her curves. The moment I started to resemble Giselda, BEF (bitch enemy forever), I was necking myself."

I'd like to remind those who don't remember who Griselda is or how does she look like, in case you didn't get the hint: She's very skinny, model-like. I don't fancy girl mains that put other females down by their weight, no matter how mean or bitchy they are. We have enough girl against girl slut and body shaming issues in the world at it is to have books encouraging this behavior. I mean sure, embrace your curves. Not curvy? Embrace that too.

Fortunately, I didn't pay for this. Honestly you may think I'm exaggerating, but truthfully the book isn't that great for me to care enough to not put it down for such a small detail from the main character. I don't know, I didn't like her anyways In general so *kanye shrug*

Ugh....

As a general rule, I avoid series that are not complete as there is nothing more irritating than having to re-read the books that you already read so you can understand the new one coming out. I read the first in this series and enjoyed it so much that I promptly preordered this one as soon as I could. Now though, I am stuck waiting again. This was as good as the first and I have truly enjoyed it so I guess that I am just... going to have to wait for the next book. Hopefully the author will be quick about it...
If you are a fan of fantasy and you are wondering as to this book, I would definitely recommend it. It did have some typo issues, but it wasn't terribly distracting. This is not appropriate for young teens, as there is considerable cursing and explicit sex scenes.
The story itself is quite enjoyable, though you end up wanting to plant your floor up Mischa's (the main characters sister) @$$ on quite a few occasions. The cliffhanger ending is a bit featuring as well but I expected it as the same was done with the first book.
Hope this helps you decide if this series interests you!! :)
Good job, Ms. Eve:)
