I wasn't too sure what the patterns would be like in this book, when you order online there is always a chance something will not be what you were expecting. But the figures are almost all adorable. I'm not the biggest fan of how the people look, like Mr and Mrs Claus or the elf but the animals are stupendous. The author really excels at creating those.
I was so enamored of the book I picked out a super easy pattern and made it up last night. The Christmas stocking in red and white. I don't keep the sock weight yarn around the house so I made it from #10 thread instead and it turned out so cute! It's only 2" high but it's perfect in proportion and you could even fit something tiny in it if you wanted.
I can't wait to try the rest of the patterns in the book. I love the idea of making a tiny crocheted nativity.
I borrowed this book from the library as I had thought about making some to put on our Christmas tree since we put it up and worked on keeping the cats off the tree. Given that I ended up becoming ill from the tree and we ended up taking it down before Christmas I did not even start. I did like several of the patterns and had wanted to make them. I may borrow in the future for ornaments for the girls to decorate outside.
This is a charming collection of small holiday ornaments - I don't have time this year to make any, but the library is always there, and these might make some satisfying small projects for the summer. Naturally, I love the fox and the donkey the best. The sheep is very cute too!
-i especially like the star on the xmas tree. -amigurami, crocheted in the round. -adorable reindeer and moose and fox and owl and penguin and polar bear. all have limbs and assorted body pieces that have to be sewn together after crocheted. -uses sock weight yarn and a C size hook (2.75 mm).
A collection of really adorable Christmas ornament patterns. Very small, very fiddly, which is not my favorite. I probably won't be using a lot of the patterns in this book, despite how cute they are.
Really fun crochet book! The basic instructions at the beginning were very helpful with the patterns later on, and they came out really nicely. My only complaint is that some of the instructions said to do something different than what was shown in the pictures, so I ended up adapting so that my finished product would look like the picture.
There's a terrific variety of adorable designs here - from Santa's pals to woodland creatures to a complete crocheted nativity.
The directions are easy to follow, and projects work up quickly. Personally, I did not like working so small; it's just not for me. My "ornaments" were made with larger needles, and will adorn shelves rather than trees.
