My biggest take away from this book is how it teaches us to stand on the word of God. We can't fight the devil with "God told me". We have to meditate on Gods word and use it to fight our battles. As in use specific scriptures that apply to our specific problem. Also, I loved his detailed study of Psalm 91. I highly recommend this one to anybody looking for something to strengthen their faith or their walk with God.

The date was May 15, 2004. It was a day I'd like to forget but I doubt that will ever happen. It was the day I had a heart attack. It was a mild one, a wake-up call really, and I now know God used it to do a work in my life, but on that day I was terrified. As I laid in the ICU, my mother-in-law came to see me and read me Psalm 91. While I am sure I had read it several times before, it never hit home like it did on that day of fear and trembling. There is such tremendous hope in this passage of Scripture.

Fast forward to today. I just finished reading the book, The Prayer of Protection by Joseph Prince. I have to admit, I only read this book because it was offered to me by his publishing company for free so that I could review it here. It's not that I had anything against Pastor Prince, I had just never heard of him and I have a lot of books. I am extremely grateful for that email because this was a really good book and I will no doubt look up more of his books in the future.

In The Prayer of Protection, Prince breaks down Psalm 91 verse by verse and offers this Psalm as a prayer for God's protection. This book is a head scratcher in the best sense of the word. I have to admit I struggled at times because it almost seemed to easy. Pastor Prince simply believes that we can pray this Psalm against the plans of the enemy over our lives. At first I really wanted to debate this. After all, I've seen bad things happen to people who love the Lord and so, I'm sure, have you. What made me scratch my head though was thinking, "Why am I pushing back against this?" What if I prayed this prayer in faith and took God at His Word. After all, that would be what I would instruct others to do. What if God wants to bless us with even more protection, and we need only to take Him seriously and trust in Jesus who paid the price for us? t the very least this book got me thinking more about praying God's Word over my life and the lives of the people I love. After all, I use this passage often to give people peace and comfort in the tough times of their life. Maybe God means it for more. It is at the very least worthy of consideration.

Prince peppers the book with personal testimonies from people who have experienced God's protection in the various ways described in the pages of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it got me to really consider "the prayer offered in faith" as James tells us. The book made me challenge the way I look at prayer and I am happy for the challenge. I will be committing Psalm 91 to emory in the weeks ahead. That challenge alone was worth the time it took to read the book. It's a good read.

The Prayer of Protection~Living Fearlessly In Dangerous Times by Joseph Prince and published by FaithWords is an insightful work; it provides reassurance and comfort that we can live a protected and peaceful life in Christ.

Joseph Prince clearly communicates to the reader that the promises of protection located in Psalm 91 are relevant and tangible for each of God's children, today. His newest book, The Prayer of Protection breaks down Psalm 91, verse by verse with the intent to strengthen the reader's walk with Christ through the faith building truths that are found within this wonderful chapter in the Bible. The author points out that our culture breeds fear and weakness, from the constant media frenzy of negativity, to the belittling commentary about our God. This continual saturation of fear mongering can force us into an unfruitful paralyzing state. He asserts that as Christians, we need to stand firm in our hope in the Lord; we need to cling to the Word of God and not allow insecurity to take a stronghold in our lives.

The book is divided into twelve chapters. Each chapter carefully inspects a verse or two from Psalm 91. The prevailing message of getting the Word of God into our hearts is emphasized throughout the book, as Pastor Prince writes, "It is so important for you to invest time in getting God's living and powerful Word into your heart." He also contends that "we must involve the Lord Jesus in our lives every day, because only Christ can deliver us and keep us safe."

I love the personal faith building testimonies that are scattered throughout this book. These illustrations of perseverence serve to provide examples of God in motion. The stories from other's trials create a fantastic sense of applicability that is inspiring. I also enjoyed the depth of which the author explores various words from the verses and uncovers their meaning within the Bible. In so doing, Prince unveils an understanding of the truths to a much deeper level. He continually stresses the importance of quoting the written Word of God, which will, "put up a shield of faith and release power as you declare that your God shall deliver you..". The author reminds us that when the Lord Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He did not merely "think" about scripture, He spoke it out loud. "The enemy will always try to keep you self-occupied and in fear. God wants you Christ-occupied and in faith." The author challenges the reader to memorize Psalm 91 and speak it with authority over your most difficult situations and watch what God does. He encourages us that worship through praise will activate angelic forces to guard us against all sorts of enemy attacks.

Finally, I was drawn into this book simply based upon the sincerity of the grace and mercy message that it contains. As we know, it is already so difficult to live in this world on a day to day basis, so a book that encourages hope, security, strength, confidence and love through the grounded roots of the gospel of Christ and the written Word of God is a HUGE winner in my mind! As Prince writes, "God has already foreseen the problems that we will face in this day and age, and His protection and covering over us is all-encompassing."

The Prayer of Protection by Joseph Prince does not teach a formulaic "name it and claim it" ritualistic memorization of chanting nonsense, but conversely Prince pleads for each of us to have a relationship with Christ and then utilize this book as a tool to be explored slowly with an open Bible and a receptive heart to the Word of God. It also beckons to be read in an intimate small group where transparency within the setting would allow the Spirit of God to break chains, bring down walls of insecurity and draw people together through the chord of Christ. Whether you read this book in a quiet devotional setting with the Lord or in tandem with others, I would highly recommend you read it!

Joseph Prince has provided a free 30-day prayer plan available to correlate with the book’s teaching and further your experience. Please click the following link if you would like to participate: http://www.faithwords.com/divineprote.... He also provides a link within the book that will provide answers to the perplexing suffering of Job through a free audio message of bonus content.

I have no words. But I'll try anyway. if there was one word that I had to choose to describe how I felt while reading 'The Prayer of Protection' it would be astonished. This book has very much blown my mind like no other book I've come across. I have never read a book which manages to insult so many different people in so many different generations, as this reading will prove offensive to anyone who suffers, anyone with diseases like AIDS, anyone with an addiction, and anyone who takes the New Testament (NT) in historical account seriously. But Joseph Prince has succeeded in doing just that.
Prince spits on the grave of the apostle Paul and the early church martyrs by saying that they did not have to die but chose to do so in order to be with God faster. But they could have lived long and full lives, having fruitfulness (his word) even in old age. He says that although Job suffered, this is totally abnormal for those in Christ and shouldn't happen.
In all my past reviews I have engaged a book with an open mind, looking for the good even when it's hard to find. That said, there is no good in this book. I hate to give very bad reviews but this book is not just bad in theology but is also bad in writing style, choice of words, and terrible for its self-promotion. 25 pages that I counted are devoted to testimonials of people saying how great his ministry has been for their lives! 25 pages-that's a lot of pages! That the editors didn't point this out to him is beyond me-maybe they didn't care? But these testimonials were not excerpts but full pages which occurred in every chapter. Prince evidently needed to fill up his pages; why 'not' be self-indulgent and insert self-promoting testimonials in which people thank God for him and his preaching of the "true gospel?"
Prince tells us that we can "activate" angels for protection (a whole chapter is dedicated to this) and that we can control these angels like Jesus apparently was able to do. He informs us that every Christian has the choice to choose when they die and mocks Christians who think that death just happens to some and we can't control it.

Laziness is also evident in the writing style, as in many parts of the book it feels as if Prince is trying to teach a very small child big grown up things. The tone of the book switches back and forth from a type of over-polished mechanical tone to a very joyous pep-talk that reminds me of someone simply trying to hype up a crowd. These phrases like "Hallelujah! Isn't God great!" in every section are not only repetitive but also seem to indicate that Prince is just trying to insert more words in each chapter.
Jospeh Prince evidently has forgotten which side of heaven he lives on. According to the reading we are not (as Christians) to experience any discmomfort and no amount of suffering.

Uncountable exegetical fallacies: there are simply too many to count (I plan on having a few posts dedicated to the individual texts themselves which are it seems on every page. Hyper-triumphalism can be found on every page. The book is highly offensive as Prince (as noted at the start) insults many different people. Anyone who is going through hardship is doing so (according to this book) because of lack of faith, or because they haven't learned to activate God's angels. In one chapter he makes absurd claims that we have authority over death in that we (not God) control and determine when we will die. He states that "Jesus died a young death so that we can live a long life" and that "All of us have a free choice to use our faith to believe God for a long life. How long a life? That depends on you--according to your faith and satisfaction be it unto you" (p. 150).
This is insulting to any Christian who has lost a Christian family member or friend prematurely, as it pretty much says they did not activate some special authority and were not in the special realm Prince apparently is in (in which he controls when he will die).
The amount of people he insults is inexcusable and unforgivable (Prince evidently does not know what it means to be pastoral, though he, in fact, is a pastor).
For anyone who experiences danger, they simply haven't activated the Protector's protection. If this is true, Christians in China need Prince's book and theology! They simply haven't activated God's angels; or perhaps the Christians who give their lives in martydom don't pray Prince's pray of protection and don't live in the realm he is in (in which one can decide when one dies!). This goes beyond the triumhalism that I've encountered in Pentecostal/charismatic circles and from motivational speakers; Prince is on a whole different level of triumphalism. The NT shows us we are to live between the tension between glory and suffering and informs us of the expectedness of Christians to suffer. The Western church seems to nt want to hear that, while Joseph Prince in his book would blantantly deny this! On p. 201 he notes it's something we must "receive" and in that chapter also contests that God's protection is purchased for Christians by Christ's blood; or hasn't activated his/her control of God's angels (yes, that's what he says); ch. 12 insults the loved ones of anyone who has died prematurely (or hasn't lived a long life) as it states a promise to every Christian is not only a long life but a long and healthy one, as well as "fruitfulness" in old age. Here he writes a most peculiar statement: that "Our Lord Jesus died young so we may live long" (p. 194). That sounds really great, but to anyone half-serious about exegesis this is an obvious and flat-out imposition to Scripture.
Because you have made the Lord your refuge, no plague will come near your dwelling. Protection from strains of viruses that science does not yet have a cure for--Ebola, Zika, or AIDS--is God's promise to you and your household (p. 100).
On p. 100 Prince states that this is God's promise for our families, stressing that this is God's guarantee. This is an insult to any Christian suffering from a disease listed above, as it implies your lack of faith (and not God's sovereignty) or something you're doing stands in the way of you being healed. Here Prince is giving false hope to those who are suffering.
There is safety and protection when we draw near to Him and dwell in His sweet presence, His Word, and His house (p. 101). It's important to note that Prince is not talking about a kind of spiritual protection but a very literal one.
On p. 103 he notes that protection is guaranteed to all believers of all times just as forgiveness is. (He has equated God's forgiveness with God's healing.) He, throughout the whole book, notes that he believes Christians should never have to suffer-they only allow themselves to suffer. From p. 104-105 he "exegetes" (can that word even be used?) the Parable of the Lost Sheep, explaining that it's about a Shepherd who protects his sheep. Strange: I always thought it was about God finding the nonredeemable (the sinner) and bringing him or her back to his flock. I guess generations of church history got it all wrong.
After reading the book at hand I don't think it's speculative to say Prince has a fear of suffering and a fear of not being protected.
Prince has a very strange and scary preoccupation with being protected from any type of suffering and an evident (to me) fear of suffering. As someone passionate about the gospel and about faith in Jesus, I find Prince's notions to be threatening to the foundations of historical Christianity. His newest release promotes an idea which is utterly contra-Christ and his cross, the idea being "Jesus died for you to not suffer and for you to be comfortable." I know of nothing which is more anti-Jesus (anti-Christ?) than that. It is evident that Prince does not take half-serious the concept of studying Scripture as he has on every page plunders Bible verses to make them captive to his own pre-determined individualistic theology. He constantly comes up with "unique" interpretations to Bible verses when Bible interpretation 101 states that if you have a "unique" interpretation of a passage, it's probably wrong and could be more rooted in pride than in an actual revelation from God's Spirit.

I write this review as a continuist who believes God still operates in the "spectacular." That said, I do not identify with the type of Christian who does not see the cross and its implications (namely that it's normative for Christians to suffer) as central (which is what Prince does without apology throughout this grotesque and terrible excuse for a book). As a student of the Bible I must say that Prince does preach another gospel, a gospel of "think-positive-thoughts" rather than the gospel of "follow me to be crucified" (a pretty negative notion). It does not take a Bible scholar to figure out that Prince is way off in his exegesis.

The Prayer of Protection by Joseph Prince was an excellent and very knowledgeable read about Psalms 91. It actually breaks each verse down and gives you understanding of each verse. It is backed up by tons of scriptures in the bible, and numerous testimonies of people all over the world who have experienced Psalm 91's protection in their everyday lives. Great read, I receive the blessing. In Jesus Name, Amen. (Psalm 91:1-16)

A good reminder of where we place our trust and why.

As seems true of other works by this author, this book is about 50% made up of testimonies and personal accounts that were sent in to him. Each account is, of course, encouraging and faith-building. Some are quite harrowing.

This is my second book from Prince, and I appreciate the conversation prose and consistent kindness in his teaching voice.

The Prayer Of Protection: Living Fearlessly In Dangerous Times by Joseph Prince is an in-depth study of Psalm 91 and its power to show us God's unfailing love and protection during life's many storms. Verse by verse, Joseph Prince shines a new light on this Psalm of protection, combining word studies of the original Hebrew texts with testimonies of its enduring strength in modern times. He demonstrates that Psalm 91 is not some sort of magical prayer, but rather a reminder and an invitation to come closer to God during hard times. No matter what you're going through now or in the future, the key is to put your faith in God. Lean on Him and trust His strength and love to get you through.

While some teach that the way to "win" God's love is by not sinning, performing countless good deeds, or spending hours locked in prayer, Joseph relates that there is no way to win God's love; He has already declared it as ours through His Son, Jesus Christ. As such, we are to be confident in God's love for us, and His desire to see us prosper. Your intimate relationship with Jesus is what enables you to see His love for you.

Joseph also reminds us that words have greater power if spoken out loud, and that reading the Bible and praying quietly are no match for the strength behind speaking God's Word, especially in times of turmoil or great adversity. This book is a very powerful reminder that, while we all fall short of perfection, we are all loved and cherished in God's sight. The prayer of Psalm 91 is a bridge to strengthen that bond when we're feeling weak.

Overall, I'm rating this book as 4/5 stars. While I do like the enthusiasm that Joseph Prince has for teaching and sharing his insights, the first portion of the book is lightly salted with references to other books he's authored. Having never read any of his other books, this gave me too much of an info-mercial feel, and distracted me from really connecting with those parts of the book. I'm glad I read the rest of the book, and definitely found it to get better as it went on. But some may catch themselves wondering if this book is just a lead-in for other materials.

This book is one celebrative(how Mr. Prince rejoices in the fact that JESUS paved the way for us to have the ability to have the chance of the Protection through HIS blood ), clear-cut( how Mr. Prince tells you with Scripture and stories how the Prayer of Protection works for us), compassionate (the way Mr. Prince presents the concepts of the Prayer of Protection to us), and everlasting (how this Prayer is eternal from the time of David to now til the end of time). The major thing I want to say is that my Father was a pastor - he is now promoted to Glory (passed away) - and the one thing he drilled into me is that when someone tries to tell you something no matter who it is - a pastor - a book writer - a friend - whoever - whatever they try to tell you DO NOT take it at face value - you ALWAYS make sure they back it up with Scripture - and when they do back it up with Scripture you make sure that they do not twist the Scripture to fit what they are saying and you do that by reading the surrounding Scripture - and if that does not fit then - well you get what I am saying. Mr. Prince does ALL of this and then some - I find this rare in books these days - a lot of books tend to put their opinions and rarely back it up, this is refreshing and very informative and I just out and out loved it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

If I could give it zero stars I would.

I read this book because I know about the dangers of the prosperity gospel but I did not want to be one of those people that criticise Harry Potter for being satanic without reading any of the books. Furthermore I have many friends from Prince's church whom I care deeply for. Hence I want to know what kind of teaching they are receiving so I can hopefully correct them where they have gone wrong.

To begin, Joseph Prince teaches bizarre and unbiblical things from the certainty of being able to avoid any sort of pain or suffering, to being able to summon 12 legions of angels, to being certain to live a long life as long as believers. I do not want to go into a chapter and verse bashing of every single false statement that he has made because I think it won't do any good.

However I feel it is worth knowing that often Prince starts of sounding quite legit, for example that we have our sins covered by the blood of Jesus before finishing with something completely unbiblical, like that we can declare power over suffering, or that an aeroplane has to land because we Christians are on it.

It is dangerous teaching veiled as authentic Christianity. In fact it is wildly un-Christian and too centred on what God can do for you as opposed to what You should be doing for God.

I have never read Joseph Prince prior to this book - but I like him, a lot!

Psalm 91 is my favorite chapter in the Old Testament and it was written "for such a time as this." Regardless of the time, generation, or season. It is a word for TODAY. For NOW! It is fresh manna.

The subtitle, "Living Fearlessly in Dangerous Times," could not be more apropos.

The book opens defining the word 'dwell' - meaning to sit down, remain, or to settle! This book is one you will want to sit down, remain, and settle with for a good long spell.

Prince uses Biblical stories and in-real-life testimonies of people, like you and me, to share the power of this psalm.

If you struggle with fear and anxiety - pick up this book and settle in its words and truths! It is a word of encouragement and hope for TODAY.

I picked this book up during the Covid 19 crisis after a friend recommended it to me. I couldn't have picked it up at a better time.

Prince does an amazing job of exploring each verse of Psalm 91. He mixes that with personal testimonials of how God protected people in different circumstances. It gave me an even greater love for the book of Psalms, especially Psalm 91.

POWERFUL! Ga ada yg kebetulan. Merinding baca ini buku! Paling suka baca bukunya dia karena selalu diceritain kesaksian2 yg nyata. Intinya ini buku bahas mengenai mazmur 91, 1 pasal dikupas satu per satu ayatnya. Gilaaa! Diingetin banyak hal terutama soal kebenaran firman Kristus.

This is my first Joesph Prince book. I had never heard of him before reading this book.

I have to admit I was nervous when I received this book for review. Typically I am not a fan of religious people with large following. I don't watch preachers and pastors on television either. I often feel sometimes those people are a bit misguided. This book, on the other hand, isn't half bad.

The book has a strong focus on Psalm 91. It is analyzed verse by verse. I enjoyed the in-depth look of one of the psalms but wished there was a bigger range of verses. It felt very constrained. When there are many other bible verses about how God's children are always protected. I really did enjoy the way he debunked some misconceptions some Christians have about our relationship with Jesus.

He uses biblical stories that have a purpose and real-life testimonies of people, that are supposedly like you and me, to share the power of the Word and this psalm.

The worst thing for me about this book is the lazy almost condescending writing style. I feel as if the author doesn't want to be here, or believes he is explaining something to a child. The tone is both annoying and very insulting. I hate the pep talk, and your life must be so bad vibe the author gives.

I believe this book could be good for new and older Christians that are interested in growing with the Lord. If you struggle with fear and anxiety I encourage you to give this book a chance.

This is a brilliant book on uplifting ourselves through the Power of the Word. It centers around the Word of Protection (Psalm 91) over the lives of God's people. The Word is a Sword - we can fight with it for our protection; we can trust in God's Word for our deliverance and for our protection. This book also contains powerful testimonials on God's protection over believers' lives - it is encouraging in the sense that even though we live in a dangerous world, we will live unscathed when we believe and completely trust in our God. This is a keeper and I will read it again and again!

I like author's book. Though maybe there are a lot of controversies, but the important things is that theology and scriptures which backed up the claim. Not like many pentecostal preacher who made a claim out of no where or with experiences, joseph prince could backed up his theology.

Encouraging, truthful and will read again. Grace and Hope

Brought me to a closer understanding of God's word. Backed by scripture and brought me closer to God as I read the book.
