Camden Ranch #2

Forever Wild

Rate this book
If rough and rugged cowboy Luke Camden has his way, Indie Harper will be his forever.

No one has ever stirred Indie’s soul the way Luke does, but even his sinfully good looks and supreme bedroom skill can’t keep her tied down. Nothing lasts forever. Her mother proved that point when she tore their family apart.

It doesn’t matter how good she and Luke have always been together; returning to the town where everything shattered around her is out of the question. Except for the fact that Luke has challenged her to a two-week, no-limits homage to the finer points of sex, and Indie knows even her stubborn resolve may not survive.

Her headstrong ways and his cool, steady hand may set the entire Midwest ablaze. Luke is about to learn that there are some storms you run from and some storms you chase, and that Indie Harper is the one girl he just can’t let get away.

This time, he’s not stopping until she’s his forever, no matter what gets in his way.

Bestselling author, Jillian Neal, was not only born 30 but also came accessorized with loads of books and adorable handbags in which to carry them, at least that’s what she tells people. After earning a degree in education, she discovered that her passion could never be housed inside a classroom. A vehement lover of love and having maintained a lifelong affair with the awe-inspiring power of words, she set to turn the romance industry on its head. Her overly-caffeinated, troupe-spinning muse is never happy with the standard formula story. She believes every book should be brimming with passion, loaded with hot sexy scenes, packed with a gut-punch of emotion, and have characters that leap off the page and right into your heart.

Her first series, The Gifted Realm, defines contemporary romance with a fantasy twist. Her Gypsy Beach series will leave you longing to visit the sultry shores of the tiny bohemian beach town, and her erotic romance series, Camden Ranch, will make you certain there is nothing better than a cowboy with some chaps and a plan. The sheer amount of coffee required to keep all of those characters dancing in her head would border on lethal, so she unleashes their engaging stories on page after page of spellbinding reads.

Jillian lives outside of Atlanta with her own sexy sweetheart, their teenage sons, and enough stiletto heels, cowgirl boots, and flip-flops to exist in any of the fictional worlds she brings to life.

Forever Wild is book two in the Camden Ranch series by Jillian Neal. This book was generously provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.

 :

I have been a fan of Jillian’s for some time now. It’s common knowledge I love my sexy cowboys and this book definitely fulfilled that obsession. But this book also stirred all kinds of other emotions in me. Anger at the worst mother and step father in the history of the world. Heartbreak at what Indie, the heroine in this story, was forced to endure. The last fifty pages or so were crazy intense. I was not at all prepared for that turn of events. And an epilogue that left me smiling from ear to ear.

This book centers on the oldest of the Camden brothers, Luke Camden. He first fell in love with Indie Harper in ninth grade in high school. After high school, he convinced her to go to college with him and that was the beginning of the end. She hated it there and eventually, when Luke tried desperately to tie Indie to him, she ran. For the next fifteen years, Indie would show up on his doorstep from time to time in the middle of the night when she was in town to see her family for a booty call so to speak. She would spend a few hours in his bed and then take off again. Now, Indie’s little sister is getting married, and a week later is their high school reunion. So, for the first time in fifteen years. Indie is coming back for an extended visit. Luke has it all planned out. He will convince Indie to give him the two weeks to show her that he can be the man she needs. To finally stop running. That he loves her, has never stopped loving her, and that her place is with him on Camden Ranch.

“She was a beautiful storm that scarred the very earth surrounding her. All she’d ever really needed was someone to mend her own wounds. She needed sanity, not his pressure.”

Sexy Garage mechanic:

Indie Harper loves her father more than anything. But, from the start, her mother always made her feel not good enough. She was too big. She wasn’t feminine or pretty enough. She never showed her love or affection. Then, when Indie walked in on her mother with another man, and told her father, her mother’s disdain for her got worse. How could she ever be good enough for Luke when she wasn’t good enough for her own mother. So she ran.

Indie learned to work on cars from her father who was a mechanic. She was good at it and she loved it. It was just another reason her mother hated her. Going back to her home town was going to be torture. Not only would she be forced to endure her mother’s usual taunts, she would be forced to see girls she went to school with that also made her life miserable. But the good thing about going back would be to see Luke. When he asked her to give him the two weeks to convince her to stay, she said yes, even though she knew she could never stay, could never be enough for him. That she could never be in the same town as her mother.

“You are everything I need, sugar. You don’t even have to try. That’s what I keep trying to tell you. Just be you. That’s all I’ll ever want.”

Sweet country love:

This book is definitely steamy as Luke pulls out all the stops (which means he used plenty of toys) to worship Indie and show her how beautiful she was to him. He has no problem verbalizing his intentions to her. Since she has only spent a handful of hours with Luke over the years she’s been gone, she is shocked at this dirty talking sexy cowboy. She’d never really gotten to know the man he’d become. She loves him, never really stopped. But she’s a mechanic, and can’t see herself as a rancher’s wife. And Luke is such a good man. How could she ever really make him happy?

 :

This book will definitely make you feel all kinds of emotions. I never have felt the kind of anger before that I felt for Indie’s mother and step father. My heart just broke for Indie. And as I said before, everything ramps up and you better hold on to something for the crazy last fifty pages or so. I love epilogues. It always makes me feel so much better to have that closure, that extra little something to leave me with a smile. And this one did not disappoint.

So, if you enjoy sexy cowboys, take a look at this series and meet the Camden brothers.

“I like dangerous. Always have. Always will. Remember our deal? You keep me sane. I’ll keep you wild.”

JILLIAN NEAL IS IN THE HOOOOUUUUSE!

*Sigh*. Why did it have to end? Why? WHYYY? This story could have gone on forever and it still wouldn't have been long enough for me. Yes, I'm a true-blue, slightly obsessed (Alright, totally obsessed) Jillian Neal fan... but, all biases aside- this was an amazing story that contained all of the themes I adore in a truly intoxicating read.

The predecessors to Forever Wild were equally as dazzling, but FW had that little extra 'oomph' that raised the bar just a little bit higher. Maybe it's because we're now a few books into the series and becoming more familiar with Pleasant Glen, and all things Camden? Or maybe it's our spectacular author's ability to create characters that literally jump out of the book? (I think it's a combo of both!) Whatever the case may be, Luke and Indie just took up residence in my heart as the ultimate swoon- worthy duo. They are the quintessential perfect match! They've been in love with each other for years, so their passion and emotion are plain undeniable. Jumping into their world was exciting, and well...... toxic- in the absolute BEST way possible! I mean seriously, these two are on- fire HOT, and their scenes leave nothing to the imagination. We've all read books where the chemistry has felt forced, but not for Indie and Luke. They are the real deal, 100% authentic in their deep and profound love for each other, which makes the entire story even that much more conceivable.

Then, just when I'm completely head-over-heels mesmerized with the story and Luke's bad a$$ cowboy ways, a twist we never saw coming is added into the mix. SCORE! I love mystery! Especially when the mystery involves some tough-talking Camden loyalty and fierceness! It was just the perfect touch to the story, and kept me fully engaged and intrigued for the remainder of this freaking kick ass book. I mentioned it ended too soon though, right?!? ;-)

Thank you, Jillian Neal for pouring your heart into these absolutely loveable and endearing characters, and making this Camden Ranch series so dang fabulous. You ROCK. Now please.... write faster. HA! <3

Hmm, while this book is well-written and had some very humorous parts, I didn't care for the dialogue. The hero supposedly has a degree, yet, he still speaks more like an illiterate individual. I have a hard believing that. I understand why the author has written it like this, it just doesn't work for me.

What did work is the satisfying HEA. If you can overlook the issues I had with the dialogue, internal and external, then you may enjoy this. It is very erotic and fits the story. Happy reading!

Beautiful job of body positivity. A little much on the sex scenes upfront vs the story. I can't believe I'm saying that but I actually really liked the characters. So wanted just a bit more balance but they were fun scenes!

This is the 3rd book in Neal’s Camden Ranch series. The author describes this as an erotic romance series which is code for some BDSM and other kink. There’s definitely plenty of that in this story along with our male lead Luke Camden spouting a lot of dirty talk which I think is ridiculous but I guess its what passes for sexy in contemporary romance. I found the first half of the book a bit depressing. It’s sad. Fifteen years ago Indiana or Indie Harper and Luke Camden were high school sweet hearts in the little berg of Pleasant Glen Nebraska where this series is set. They’d been together since their freshman year of high school. But Indie was so traumatized by her mother and her classmate’s treatment of her that she refused Luke’s engagement ring and ran away to Oklahoma City shortly after high school graduation and rarely returned to her hometown. On those rare occasions that she did, she found her way into Luke’s bed for a late night hook-up before leaving again before dawn. Indie took a lot of verbal abuse in high school from the other kids because she was exceptionally tall and curvy. She even had bust reduction surgery. The author references her ample ass multiple times in the story to the point I felt sorry for Indie. Yeah, I get it, she’s got a lot of junk in her trunk. While most men see Indie as a voluptuous pin-up hot as hell, all Indie can see is the too tall too thick and curvy woman her cruel mother, aunts and the mean girls at school want to make her out to be. She wasn’t girlie. She didn’t wear makeup and hated dresses. Like her father she loved to be under the hood of a car or truck or tractor wrenching as she refers to it, making the motor purr. Her mother Carolyn was a superficial bitch who only cared about status and appearances. She never loved or understood Indie who was nothing like the daughter she wanted her to be. When she was a sophomore in high school Indie caught her mother Carolyn in bed with the mayor. Her mother then left Indie’s beloved father and married the mayor. Indie continued to live with her father while her mother took her younger sisters with her. Her mother’s affair made Indie the target of more teasing by her classmates. Indie considers her mother’s affair and resultant marriage to the mayor as the tipping point that destroyed her life. Her mother Carolyn (who turns denial into an art form) has tried to forget and make others forget she was ever married to or had three daughters with Indie’s father Ben a mechanic whom Indie adores. Carolyn goes so far as to try and convince Indie’s sister to allow her step-father rather than her real father to walk her down the aisle. Indie is back in the Grove for Melony, her younger twin sister’s wedding and possibly her own 15 year high school reunion the following weekend if she decides to stick around and attend it. Luke convinces her to spend those two weeks in his bed while he tries to convince her to stay and marry him. Indie agrees to his proposal to stay the two weeks because she does love Luke and can’t resist his proposal for two weeks of hot and kinky sex with him. But much as it will hurt her to rekindle their flame and then leave again, she has no intention of sticking around when the two weeks are up. Like most of us Indie still sees the people she grew up with as they were 15 years ago when she last saw most of them. She has trouble accepting that people can grow up and change like her sister’s fiancée Tucker. She also has a blind spot that causes her to disregard all the good people in town who love and support her. She’s not really happy with any aspect of her life in Oklahoma City but she still tells herself she’s better off there than in this small town where her mother and step-father live and she has so many bad memories and everyone knows her business.
I found Luke to also be a sad character. He blames himself for his break up with Indie and her leaving town believing he shouldn’t have pressured her into marrying him. Believing this time if he loves her enough, if he gives her everything she needs, she’ll stay. Now 33 years old even as well as he knows his Indie, he still doesn’t understand that he can’t be everything for her. That he can’t slay her demons or keep them at bay, only she can.
I honestly found some of this story really confusing. Indie is so excited and mystified over the revelation that Luke has a dominant side that plays right into her dark fantasies it sounded as if she found their previous more vanilla sex life unsatisfying. Yet it was good enough that when she did return to Pleasant Grove she always found her way back to his bed. I also couldn’t get my head around Luke’s thinking that by playing the role of dom in their sex life it would allow Indie to rediscover her wild side. A big part of the reason I’m an avid contemporary romance fan is because I like knowing that no matter the trials and tribulations along the way I’m going to get a happy ending. So in that regard this story definitely didn’t disappoint. But that said I felt like Indie’s sudden revelation of so many aspects of her life felt rushed. It really took her all of those years to figure out that it was her choice as to whether she ended up like her mother or not? I felt bad that she and Luke had lost so many years because of her fears that she’d turn out just like the woman she had absolutely nothing in common with but their eye color. Okay book that got much better in the second half.

An erotic cowboy romance.

This book has a pretty good storyline which included a mystery to be unraveled.

I liked Like and Indie, although her conversation about running got to be a bit much sometimes. Her mother and stepfather were downright hateful.

The pace of the book was pretty steady. It could have been a lot shorter because I lost count of how many times there was the same conversation about Indie leaving town, Luke trying to keep her there, everyone trying to convince her to stay, and how much her mother and stepfather disliked her.

Luke spent most of his time showing Indie his dominant nature and Indie wishing he had let it out years before. There was a bit of angst that everyone worked through to come out with a HEA for all.

I Really enjoyed this book! The story was hot and sweet! I love a good cowboy story and this fit the bill perfectly.
Sometimes the heroine got on my nerves with the way she acted but thankfully she came to her senses.
This book was hot enough to set fire to my whole house lol. Thankfully it's gotten colder so I can cool down after reading this. Also the hero is such a hottie!
If you are looking for a good cowboy love story you should definitely check this out!

I couldn't put it down!!! I love the balance between Indie and Luke. I also love how feisty Indie is and how Luke is always there for her whenever she needs him to help her work through and overcome her insecurities. The passion in this story is explosive and fiery. I loved this Story just as much as I loved the previous Camden Ranch book and can't wait for more!

An Awesome Book!

I loved reading Forever Wild: A Camden Ranch Novel Book 2, all about Luke Camden the eldest son & resident Veterinarian in the Glen & Indianna Harper the love of his life and the best car Mechanic. Indie was coming home for her younger sister’s wedding and she was going to be staying for two weeks. She lives in Oklahoma City where she is an auto body mechanic at a shop with all guys. She loves Luke, but she hates the town she was born in because her mother & stepfather cheated on her dad(Ben) and Indie found them doing the dirty deed one day after school! So ever since she went off to college with Luke she has been running away from The Glen! But Luke loves her and will do anything to convince her to stay. He has two weeks to convince her being his wife and living on his ranch is the best idea for them both. The author wrote a story about a young woman who does not think she is worth the trouble! The story is about this young woman coming to terms with her inner self! Read about Luke & Indie and see if together they can’t set the world on fire together! I loved reading book one and two and I can’t wait to read book three!!

Indie on the run

Indie runs when things get hard. Her mother cheated on her father and Indie discovered it. The scandal resulted in endless teasing and a jerk step father. Her mother is nasty to her and makes her feel ugly. Her high school sweetheart tries to tie her down with marriage and she runs. She moves away and rarely visits.

Now she's back for her sister's wedding and high school reunion. Luke still loves her and wants her to stay. She promises to spend the two weeks with him but doesn't promise to stay. He spends the time trying to convince her she's beautiful and helping her see what she's missing.

The characters are interesting. I don't normally like stories where the woman bolts and won't face her problems, but I can understand why Indie runs. Her mother is a real piece of work.

The love pours off Luke in waves and the sex is hot with some added kink. Will it be enough to make Indie face her fears and stay?

I did enjoy this book, but I must admit that that heroine, Indie, really started to get on my nerves after a while. I’m not going to detail the plot because a lot of other reviewers have already done that. But I thought the last time she leaves is rather ridiculous. How do you love somebody as much as she professes to love Luke, the hero, and not even give him the chance to talk to you before you run away. Again.

Luke, the studly rancher / veterinarian / noble family man also has the patience of a Saint. I confess I really thought he was a bit too good for her. I understood that she had serious self-esteem and mother issues, you would think that Luke’s unwavering affections would have counted for more over the years then her just using him as a hot cowboy booty call.

Those issues aside, I did really enjoy the book and thought the story surrounding the characters was interesting. Looking forward to reading the next in this series

Amazing!

This is my first Jillian Neal novel and I couldn't put it down. An absolutely beautiful love story, a great back story with the intrigue and drama that comes with small towns, and enough sizzle to make you daydream of a sexy cowboy sweeping you off your feet and claiming you as his forever! These characters leap off the page, as Ms. Neal has given them life and she makes you want to get to know each one-except the villain-personally. I cried, I giggled and I panted. A wonderful story! I cannot wait to read the rest of the Camden Ranch books!

Forever Wild

It was so sweet to see Indie and Luke grow. She needed to see that Luke was the man for her and she needed to stop running. As the plot deepens Luke realizes he can't force Indie and needs to let her make her own decisions with the strong love from his family and their friends.

The story was good.

I liked the story line and the characters and how well everything went. I loved the HEA and I loved how things worked out for Indie. That being said, this book needs a better grammar editor. So many mistakes. And was the Mayor's name Jenkins or Perkins?

Running away never was a good idea!

Really enjoyed this story of a small town and the residence plus the farmers.
A wedding and high school reunion is what brought the main character in the steamy, sexy, hot story.
Look forward to reading more about the Camden family.

Stellar!

There is so much joy in this book! In a great show if balance, however, there is also pain, heartbreak, and real life issues discussed. I love watching Indie finally let Luke take control & I laughed & cried so many times!

5+ Stars

Can I give a book more than 5 stars? There are a whole lot of books that I have said that I absolutely loved. This one is no different; however this book has quickly made its way into one of my top 5 favorite books.

Luke Camden and Indie Harper were high school sweethearts. Luke was the high school football star, and Indie was the only girl he ever wanted. She wasn’t your typical girl as she would rather be working at her Dad’s garage than shopping and putting on makeup. Indie had a wild soul and Luke was the only one that could calm her. After high school, they went to college together, but when Luke tried to tie her down, she ran. Over the last 15 years whenever she returned to Pleasant Glen, her heart always led her to Luke Camden, but he could never convince her to stay. This time she is coming back for her sister’s wedding and hopefully staying for her high school reunion, and he hopes that he can convince her to stay on Camden Ranch with him.

There are so many things that I love about Forever Wild. I love the story of Luke and Indie. I love the second chance aspect of the story, and I love that they never lost the love they have for each other. I absolutely LOVE that even though it took her forever to realize it, Luke was always her safe place. Indie had a troubled past, and still has issues with her mother and any time she came to town and went head to head with her mother, she ran to Luke. I love that Indie is the picture perfect heroine. She isn’t skinny, she admits she doesn’t work out, she has scars on her body, and she has scars on her soul. She doesn’t see herself as pretty, but Luke sees her as perfect. Speaking of Luke, he is probably one of my favorite alpha males (and the fact he is a cowboy and has some serious brains doesn’t hurt either). Over time he has realized that he needs Indie, and he realized his mistake when he caused her to run. He does his damnedest to prove to her that he will always be all that she ever needs. He hates to hear her talk bad about herself, and he is out to prove to her that she is perfect the way she is. The relationship that Luke and Indie have is one that all women want. They want that man that makes them feel safe and beautiful. Jillian hit the ball out of the park with these two characters.
Another thing that I love about this book is that Jillian really pushes the buttons with some of the scenes between Luke and Indie. This is not your usually vanilla book. There are lots of flavors and some sprinkles to go along with it. I love the way that Jillian incorporates these scenes and shows that sometimes vanilla is okay, and sometimes adding a little flavor and some sprinkles is perfectly normal. The trust that these two have characters have with each other, and the scenes between them are HOT. Be prepared to have to cool your kindle down because these two will set in on fire!

Jillian, thank you for creating characters that were a little out of the norm. Thank you for showing woman that we don’t have to be perfect to be the heroine of our own stories and that we can still get the hot Alpha Man!

I hope that you all grab this book and read it! I hope it makes you feel all of the emotions that I felt while reading it! It is an amazing story and there is SO much more I could say, but really, I would rather you just get the book and come back and tell me what YOU think of it!

I'm totally fangirling ALL OVER THIS BOOK!!! Gah... it's so amazing! It MUST be devoured.

Forever Wild is such a hot, sexy read full of excitement! Did I mention hot and sexy? Jillian Neal has outdone herself with this one. You literally get lost in the story and in the characters. Jillian Neal makes the whole world disappear.

I want to keep Indie and Luke forever. Indie is such a spitfire!! Indie brought out so many different emotions in me. I absolutely love her as a heroine, she is definitely one of my most favorite and most memorable. Luke is absolutely perfect for her. He is the only one who is able to calm her down. Luke Camden is SEXY y'all!! I wish he was ALL mine.

Indie and Luke were high school loves, but Indie had to leave. It broke her heart and Luke's. Now she's back and oh boy is Luke Camden all grown up and sexy as hell. Better yet, Luke has never stopped loving Indie and wants to keep her forever. But can Indie stay in a town that always hated her? Can she live so close to her hateful, spiteful mother? Or is Luke Camden asking for to much? Will she run or will she stay?

I am seriously emotionally attached to this family!! This family is so real to me. I am COMPLETELY hooked on the Camden family and I CAN NOT wait to see what comes next!!!

You MUST READ Forever Wild!!!

Holy Hot and Sexy!

This book sizzled! Luke and Indie are not only hot and heavy throughout the book, but you find yourself rooting for them. They are a great couple! Luke in all his sexiness is beyond hot, but the core of him is a respectful cowboy who knows how to treat a woman. Indie is a beautiful woman who comes into her own throughout this book. She is not built like the typical 'hottie cowboy plaything' and she has some issues with her body. Her whole life she was told that she was fat and big boned by her mother so part of her believes that too. Luke does everything in his power to show her how gorgeous she is, curves and all.

I love how Jillian Neal creates such developed characters for her books and they almost never fit the typical romance story bill. Her female leads are all real women with real issues. And her leading men will do anything to win these 'real' women over. You instantly fall in love with her characters and you get depressed when you near the end of the book!

I would highly recommend this series to romance readers! And if you're not a romance fan, this would be an excellent book to change your mind!
