Disappointing read

Rachel is desperate for money, her mother has cancer and with all the stress, appointments and time off she's now lost her job, she's no idea where to turn until her best and only friend Denise finds a job for her:
"Ivan’s looking for a woman to give him an heir. He wants to knock someone up, and it sounds like he’s willing to pay big money for it.”
Rachel's desperate enough to take him up on it and so her life changes overnight.
The reviews for this book were really good but I'm sorry to say it didn't work for me, something was missing, it didn't flow and it was filled with discrepancies, small mistakes maybe but there's loads of them and then to top it off Rachel has a huge TSTL moment.
Also Ivan is desperate but the day after he meets Rachel he's having unprotected sex and trying to get her pregnant. For something is important wouldn't they get tested to make sure they're both clean.
A few examples:
'I’d only been in Greg’s office one other time—when he had interviewed me five years ago. His father had been sick, so Greg had stepped in, even though Greg hadn’t been the big boss yet.
His father had been the one to hire me.'
Surely if Greg interviewed her then it was him that hired her.

'She was good looking, that much was clear.....'
"You’re pretty,” he repeated, “but not as pretty as I’d been hoping.”
If she's good looking how can she not be as pretty as he's expecting?

“On your back,”
"Arms above your head.”
'When his fingers trailed down lower, he cupped my ass then slapped it with one hand'
It's hard to slap an ass when the person's laid down on their back.

'TI finally had that talk with Ivan about my mom'
Who or what is Tl?

"I’m not a sex partner. Or a whore. Or whatever you want to call it. I know I was paid, but… I had a right to know.”
She was paid for sex and to get pregnant, that was it.
I know the relationship developed but originally she had no right to know anything and she was paid for sex so I guess technically she's a whore.

This book was littered with mistakes and needs editing so badly as a rule small mistakes don't generally bother me that much but there were just so many.

This was really bad.

It needs so much editing that it is difficult to read for many, many reasons, including how incredibly repetitive it is. It is a rough draft not a finished book.
Originally, I was attracted by the premise of the book, however the execution of it was a let down, mainly because the main characters thoughts and readings are beyond ridiculous. I can handle some absurdity, specially within erotic romances, but what I cannot candle is dumbness and this was so so dumb. I skipped many things, specially after the first half of the book. All the lame mob stuff is tedious.

I actually think, that with enough editing, this could be a decent read. As it stands, is not worth reading at all.

Sorry, but if this author thinks she writes like AR, then she is not even a padawan in the service of a master jedi.

***************SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SPOILERS**********************
It started out well enough, the heroine was gutsy and not whiny. Things go downhill when the hero meets the heroine "he was hoping for prettier" - well really? F you. Not what AR would write. Next, let's move on to the bedroom scenes, which were a mess and not even a hot mess at that. She's on the bed, on her back, arms in the air, but H still manages to massage her back and tweak her nipple all in the same scene. Uh, how? Then has mental note that he's seen bigger boobs and had better BJs??!! By now this book is down the toilet and I'm only finishing cos I promised my online friends.
So, at least since they've done the horizontal mambo I'm hoping that he will be besotted with her, but nope, he just thinks this will be an enjoyable romp with the rented uterus. Ugh.
Let's move on to the plot holes, e.g.
The H can hack and download enough information from a secretary's computer to prove all the money laundering in the time it takes said secretary to walk down the hall?
Continuing on, why not toss in some drama with mother...Even though she is essentially bedbound at the beginning, it doesn't occur to our heroine that mum will need a nurse until one miraculously walks in. Then when mother has a fall, the lame medical comment is "She's had a fall but don't worry, she'll be all right". Um, I'd probably have mentally slapped one of my medical residents if that was all they had said to the relatives as an explanation.
I also really thought our heroine (I use this term loosely) was really TSTL when she decided to flee.
For the final icing on the cake, the h has a threated miscarriage resulting in "her clothes soaked in blood" and he drives her to hospital? Call an ambulance, loser! Don't even try to argue this with me or I will beat you over the head with my MB BS, FRANZCOG, DDU, CMFM degrees.

This book is awful. Rachel needs money to help her mother get care for her cancer and she seeks to become a surrogate for a Russain Mobistar. When they first meet he tells her that he wanted someone prettier and that he does not want ugly kids. Ummmmm note to author.....this is romance & fantasy... What kind of connection do you expect after saying that stuff. Awful!

Too stupid to finish and the writing was amateurish. I'm only bothering even rating this in the hopes of avoiding the author in the future.

3 Stars: Kindle Unlimited Read
Hear me now my fellow readers (and authors if you gaze upon my words), this golden nugget available through Amazon's Kindle Unlimited program is the definition of a book. SIX HUNDRED FOUR (604) pages of an author's blood, sweat and tears. No breaking it down in episodes, installments or two books. Ashley Hall, please stand up and take a bow. You are the true definition of authors past.

UPDATE:
It has many redeeming qualities. The characters were likable at best neutral at worst. The writing was much better than expected. I developed an interest that withstood to the end. The plot was nice, somewhat original or had its own unique flair. The writing was good, and the pretense wasn’t half bad, the romance was simmering with few exceptions. The male/female lead showed hints of abuse both verbal and physical, or signs of spot on or forced chemistry. It was a tiny bit predictable. Overall, liked it enough, entertaining.

Rachel finds herself in a strange situation of trying to give her dying mother the best care possible while being employed. She finds herself unemployed and finds out about the opportunity to have a baby for Ivan. He is willing to pay one million dollars for a male heir. Ivan finds Rachel intriguing as he gets to know her more and more. He needs an heir in case the man that killed his family when he was a boy, kills him, leaving his family's mob, without a boss. Can Rachel really go through with getting pregnant and giving her child up to a mob boss? Can Ivan really let her go and not claim her as his own?

I enjoyed this book. The way that Ivan wanted something so bad he went looking for it. The dark and brooding way he held himself made me intrigued. Though I will admit, I wanted to smack him when he first met Rachel. Making her feel like she wasn't good enough. Especially since she only agreed because she needed the money to help her mother out. Who doesn't love that, right?

The sex scenes where hot, and the hot and cold dynamic between the characters held my attention that it kept me reading. There were only a few points where it felt a little drawn out, and I wanted to scream "get to the point, or bang her already." but it wasn't that much.

Ivan learned there was so many good things about having her close, and practicing for "said heir." he ended up being a nicer guy than I would have thought. The fact at the end he finally told her what he was thinking, and opened up, really sealed the deal for me. He wasn't a complete ass.

Only thing that annoyed me, which prevented this book from being a five star, was the fact both kept saying "she's just a womb for the baby." I'm like, okay, I get it, you want no connection, just someone to screw and knock up. But stop using it as an excuse every other page. I can only roll my eyes so many time.

But all in all, I enjoyed it and would read again. Oh, and for those who want it- an added second book was added to the Kindle Unlimited version.

Owned by the Mob Boss is a fun, sexy read . Ashley Hall does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life, and you'll find yourself rooting for Rachel and Ivan.

Rachel's mother is dying of cancer, and even though Rachel is trying everything within her power, the bills are piling up. To make matters worse, she's been fired from her job from taking off too much. When her best friend tells her that her boyfriend's hot boss is looking for a woman to impregnate to produce an heir, she's desperate enough to find the man.

Ivan is the boss of the Mob. The man who killed his family nearly 15 yeara prior, has returned to his city, and he plans to get his revenge. In the off chance he dies, he wants an heir to take over after his demise. All the women he knows wouldn't produce a suitable heir though so he tells his men of his plan. When the curvy little brunette walks in his bar, he's intrigued. Sex until she gets pregnant, nine months of her living with him, then she's gone. And he has an heir. No feelings and no complications, right? Wrong.

I absolutely loved Rachel and Ivan! I hope to see them in a future book! I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I received an arc for an honest review so here it is.
This was an easy read, it started well and I felt connected with the characters but that wow factor just wasn't there. The mob boss wanted an heir to take over when he was dead ( not a good start?) so he had a contract drawn up and lo and behold Rachel had just lost her job and had an ill mother with bills mounting.
Rachael took up the position (pardon the pun) and although there was a lot of hot consensual sex they fell for each other! Rachael got pregnant fulfilling her side of the contract and things went from bad to worse to good.
I did enjoy this read but to be honest something was missing.....no WOW! factor but still an enjoyable read

I received this book as an ARC for a honest review.
I thought it was a great story. Rachel is desperate to get money and decides she has to make a deal with someone she doesn't really want to make a deal with to get the bills paid. With a sick Mom, little money and no job she has limited choices.
Ivan is a mob boss and has no true family. He needs an heir and is willing to pay high dollar for that to happen. His enemies are coming after him and he has to protect his family.
Will him and Rachel be able to survive the enemy attack?
I recommend this book but it has violence and killing. These maybe triggers for people with violent pasts.

Wow! Another great book! I really enjoyed this book. It had me caught in up in its web to the very end! Rachael was going through a tough time. Mom with stage 3 cancer financially hurting. Bills piling up and to make things worse. She was fired from her job. Desperate because she knew her mom need care, she was willing to give a rich guy a child. All she was thinking was how can I help my mom. She was selfless. She met iVan and she didn't know she was getting in deep with the mob. Evert hung they went through had me on my toes.

I received this book as an ARC for my honest opinion.

Okay I'm not gonna lie, the book was fine. There were quite a few typos but this I can overlook. What I can't stand, what irritates me the most is a CRAPPY ENDING!!! Let's just throw some shit together and hope the readers like the ending. Ivan is heartbroken and sad and oh he'll jus turn legit and oh he loves her,and guess what she loves him too. OMG really!! I can't live like this, but wait I'll legitimize the mob, and the. I love you and I love you too....blah blah blah.
The book was decent, the relationship and he angst of them both worked, but damn the ending TOTALLY FUCKING RUINED IT!!

Rachel's mom is sick with cancer and the chemo treatments she cant afford after she loses her job because she's late again because she is taking care of her mom. Her friend Denise is dating Alec. A bad boy that Rachel doesn't really care for. Denise mentions that Alec's boss is looking for a surrogate to have him a male heir. Rachel has no idea that Ivan is a Russian mob boss. She agrees to have his baby. The catch is he wants a male heir and she walks away from the baby as soon as its born. that and they will get pregnant the old fashioned way. Thank God he's hot. The story is both funny and steamy hot and sad at times. I loved the book. A great read.

This was my first Ashley Hall book and it was good. She did a great job with the pace of the book and gave the reader time to know the characters.

Rachel needs money to pay for her mom's medical bills. Ivan needs an heir to keep his family's business going. Rachel hears that Ivan is willing to pay for someone to carry his child and she feels like this might be the answer she has been looking for. Their relationship starts off as not a real relationship per their agreement, but as time goes on that changes and they are both In for a surprise.

Oh, this was horrendous.

The cover I liked. The plot idea I liked.

The writing was hor-freaking-rendous.

Ugh, the heroine. STUPID. Whhyyyy, did I spend money on this?!! I would rather have given that dollar to any change fund I came across at any register anywhere asking for help with anything! AH's writing (and the editing...I can't even without bleeding from my eyes and ears...) was so bad, I can't even bring myself to start the bonus book included with this purchase. I don't want it. Nope. Awful. Wasted time. Honest to goodness, this right here is why not everyone can be a writer.

I loved this book so much but I wouldn't give it a five star rating. This has been my favorite mob/mafia related book with a love story involved, even though this is only my second one. This book was written so well that you just can't stop reading when you start. This book is hot, sexy, with feisty main characters, and wild sex that makes me go crazy just reading it. I recommend this book for people who like mob/mafia romance books, hot male main character's like Ivan Kovalsky, lots of sex, and pregnancies in books.

This is easy read. Rachel lost her job and is desperate for money to help pay for her sick mom's medical bills. Ivan is desperate to have a heir to carry his family name. After Rachel's friend tells her Ivan is looking to pay someone to have his child decided to seek Ivan. Can Ivan protect Rachel and his unborn child from the ones who killed his family? Will Ivan fall for Rachel? This book has good plot and I enjoyed the read. Received copy for honest review.

Tedious.

The sex scenes were good but the individual narratives were long winded and at times repetitive in their intent. The story had potential but lack any semblance of reality. As important as main characters are to a story, secondary characters and their own narratives can lend scaffolding and foundations to the strength, character and evidence to the leadership to the main characters and interest to the main story and plot. Too bad.

This was an easy read, on that you can pick up and finish in one day. However, there were points in the book that didn't seem realistic to me. Also, when switching heads the author didn't keep with the flow of time. She would go back to a past point and proceed from there. Other than those couple flaws, this was a fun read.

I liked this book well enough to give it 3 stars, but it is totally different than any of the other mob books that I have read. Rachel needs money for her mom's cancer treatments. Her bff tells her about a mob boss wanting to hire someone to give him a baby. So what does a desperate person do..... rents out her uterus to a dangerous man.

The book was written well but the ending was. .. poop. (SPOILER ALERT)

The leading man pays for the baby, they fall in love then she is freaked out that he's killed people. He runs the mob, duh. The ending just ruined it for me as he decides to make the mob legit. Not realistic and boring. Simply wasn't for me.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. It was extremely repetitive almost every chapter the character's would think the same things over and over again. I did like the plot and actual character's, but the book was just too much filler of the same internal struggles.

This was an OK book. I don't like it when the h tries to change the H just because they don't agree on the same things. That is off putting to me in books. They knew they were bad boys when they meet them so deal or move on. This is just my opinion and it's a 3.5 star rating.

This was a good read with well written characters and a constantly moving plot. If I'm honest it wasn't quite up to Griffin, the previous book I read by Ashley Hall but that's just splitting hairs.
