T.A. Pratt is the pseudonym of Tim Pratt, under which he penned the Marla Mason books.

I've crowdfunded seven projects (four through Kickstarter) successfully in the past few years, and I don't foresee any problems with this one, either. I write novels for a living, and this is a book I'm excited to do. It's always possible there will be bumps and delays on the production process, or an unforeseen illness or other disaster, but if so, I'll keep everyone posted, and we'll get there in the end.

I just finished and absolutely loved this book and thoroughly enjoyed the series as a whole!👍 What a great way to wrap the series up. She chose the right person for the spouse job for sure! And the epilogue was great! Actually, the ending was a bit mushy, but just the right way to make me happy. 😃

I avoided this book for a while. Mostly because I knew once I read it that Marla’s story would be over. I wasn’t ready to let her go yet. A smaller part because I worried that, over the years, maybe I wouldn’t love her as I once had. It’s been six years since I read the ninth book in the series. My tastes and reading experience have changed a great deal since then. What if when I came back to her, it was like coming back to a friend you’d lost touch with and you were just too different?

I shouldn’t have worried. Marla and her compatriots were as amazing as ever. It was in fact like coming back to that old friend and catching back up like no time had been lost. This series is not technically perfect, and the characters are also far from perfect. And that makes them wonderful in my eyes. Because what they are is the best they can be. They strive to “do better.” Which is all any of us are ever really trying to do.

I’m sad to have reached the end of Marla’s story, but it was a very fitting end. It was wrapped up wonderfully and satisfyingly. Plus, it’s not really over. I plan on starting back at the beginning and revisiting Felport and learning all over what it means to “do better” with Marla and her chosen family.

This wasn't the last adventure I would have hoped for. It honestly felt scattered and lacking in punch. But it was still somehow the ending for the characters that I needed and so it gets three stars. Would have gotten two probably, but I'm pregnant and hormonal and the ending really made me cry. I'll give it another for that.

Honestly, this book felt like a denouement rather than the climax. Book 9 was the climax. This is the nice slow epilogue--though "slow" in a Marla story still means plenty of action. The dating scenes were hilarious and cute, though that arc ended with some harsh realities. I really enjoyed Marla coming to the realization of the best choice, and we got a sweet "how they lived their lives" at the end. I like this kind of slow-braking exit to a series, really helps with the post-series hangover.

Good enough I guess. But there is a plot hole which sadly invalidates most of the latter part of the protagonist and antagonist plotline. That plot hole plus some questionable contrived behind the scenes happenings followed by character stupidity made the last half of the story a borderline unbearable listen/read.

Rating should be 0/5 really but if I ignore the issue and consider it invalid input then the story works somewhat and that is why I am rating this 3/5.

What a perfect ending to this series. Everything wrapped up nicely, or if not nicely, at least in a satisfying way, and most of the characters got some kind of wrap up. The search for Death's companion was handled very well, and the finale against the black sand was cool.

A fitting conclusion to the Marla Mason saga. This is a very original story with plenty of quirks that work. Tim Pratt is really imaginative and a really good writer!

A satisfying resolution for a consistently likeable series, hitting the familiar beats and bidding a pleasant adieu to the characters who've made it this far.

I was a little disappointed in the ending. I loved almost everything about this series. It is my second favorite series to date.

A brilliant ending for a brilliant series

The title really says it all. This book ties together all the nagging loose ends, and manages to create more threads in a way that both expands the universe and satisfies the imagination.

A tremendous end to fantastic series which I have loved reading.
Brilliant character development for eccentric & nonconformist individuals who are at times rather flawed, yet who you grew to care about, making you laugh, cry and want to shake with frustration at times.
The whole series has been refreshingly different with a number of story arcs which kept you enraptured and wanting more.
I will miss Marla Mason, this series and the amazing characters who where apart of her life, death and beyond.

Fantastic finale to this series. I will miss these characters a lot, but it's interesting to see how they all evolved over the years, and what their final fates are. The final wrap-up does drag on a bit, but I can see how the author needed to get to a particular point. This series was a real pleasure to read.
