Who made the sun, the stars, the moon, and the animals? God did! And who made me? God did! God made the entire world! Author and artist Sarah Collins brings a fresh approach to her illustrations using geometric designs to create bright, beautiful, and exiting pictures that preschoolers will want to look at over and over again.
God Made the World board book tells the story of creation in simple, easy to remember rhymes with art that is engaging and fun for young children. And it is sure to become a classic introductory creation storybook that will be used by countless families and teachers.
Sarah Jean Collins is an artist and graphic designer from Bradenton, Florida. She graduated from Samford University in 2008 with a BA in history. Three years later, she decided to go back to school to pursue her lifelong love of art by obtaining an AS degree in graphic design from State College of Florida. While in school, Sarah Jean realized that she is passionate about illustration. She is inspired by minimalism, world cultures, and life on the Gulf of Mexico. In 2012, her design was used for the 30th Annual Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival T-shirt and poster. She and her husband, Tim, have two children.
God Made the World is a sweet board book displaying the seven days of creation. The rhyming storyline is meaningful and easy to understand, and the full-page illustrations are colorful and imaginative.
From God speaking light into existence to resting from His work on the seventh day, this book makes the Creation story memorable.
I’m a bit confused by the targeted age group of 8-12 years. I don’t know why school-aged children would want to read a board book. I think it’s more realistic to target pre-school children, whether they can read, or enjoy being read to.
With unique illustrations of mandalas, animals, people, and nature, the glossy pages capture the reader’s attention and illuminate Creation.
The purpose of this book is clear—to teach young readers how God turned nothingness into the world we know and love.

This is a great way to help youngsters to learn about the Creation of the World. The pictures are bright and clearly bring forward the verse that goes with it. I believe that children that are visual learners will have the story of the Creation come easily to them.
I know personally, I would have had an easier time learning these verses with these pictures.
I was given this book by Tyndale in exchange for my honest review.

Sarah Jean Collins' God Made the World (A Tyndale Kids Title) is a wonderful board book depicting the first seven days of the world through clean, simple, and bright illustrations and a rhyming narrative. Young children are introduced to the history of creation as narrated in the the first book of the Bible - Genesis.
I think my favorite part of the book is the easy nature of the text which lends itself to reading aloud. From the very first time my children and I sat down to read God Made the World, I had no trouble reading it aloud. No stumbling over words or sentences which is a blessing for read-aloud books.
The illustrations also provide parents and Sunday School teachers with many opportunities to create crafts to go along with a reading of the book. Children could very easily create their own book to go along with Collins' God Made the World to help reinforce the story.
When I asked my children about their favorite part of the book, they each had different responses. My two-year-old daughter likes the pages with the animals the best - especially the snake. My four-year-old son likes "the part where God made the trees" the best. And this mom likes the whole book!
I recommend God Made the World by Sarah Jean Collins from Tyndale House Publishers to Christian families and Christian organizations with Sunday Schools or nurseries like schools, churches, or outreaches. I am very happy that we are able to have it on our own shelves. And I have no problem reading it to my children again and again as it has become a favorite story in our house.
What a great board book! It is absolutely beautiful to look at it and feels good too. I know that's a little weird to say, but we read a LOT to our toddler and the more high quality board books (in terms of construction) just feel good in your hands. Thick pages that stand up to drool and being thrown, bent, and otherwise abused (parents... you know this is true!!) are important. We do teach good book behaviors, but it's a process. :)
God Made the World covers the story of creation as told in Genesis 1. The author shares creation's story through a series of fun rhymes that are enjoyable to read and enjoyable for a child to hear. They aren't sing songy (which can be annoying) but are fresh and new.
Speaking of the Christian message of this book... it's straight from the Bible, and that's important to me. I want my son to be exposed to Christianity through a variety of sources--family, daycare, church, music, books, and more. I want the Bible to be repeated to my son over and over and over again, and Biblically based storybooks are great for that!
The illustrations are awesome. Bold and bright colors as well as fun geometric shapes and patterns make this book pleasing to look at too. I think this also holds the interest of babies and toddlers better.
In general, I think this is a fabulous board book! It would be a great gift idea for a baby shower, first birthday party, or even to gift to your church nursery or daycare. It's read on repeat at our house... the test of a good book!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Tyndale House Publishers. However, I was not required to write a positive review. The thoughts expressed above are entirely my own. Thanks to Tyndale House for the chance to read this great book!
A lovely board book based on the first chapters of Genesis, both written and illustrated by Sarah Jean Collins. This book is well written, with a eloquent and timeless prose that tells the story of creation in a way that children will understand and adults will enjoy when reading to their young one.
The illustrations pop with color and geometric shapes, showing the world in the stages of creation. I love how this book goes beyond just be a cute book, the verses have an elegance to them that makes this book memorable in how it draws from scripture with it's deceptively simple sounding verses.
Overall a wonderful board book, full of bright colors, that tells the story of creation with beautiful evocative language that is great for all ages. Highly recommend this book!

A special thanks to Tyndale House Publishers for sending me a complimentary copy of Sarah Jean Collins’ book, God Made the World.
God Made the World is both an engaging and exciting book to read as it opens up the formation of the world in poetic fashion. In only twenty pages, Sarah retells the creation narrative through the use of rhymes as well as brilliantly designed illustrations. The pictures alone are enough to grab your child’s imagination and propel them into the Biblical account by laying that foundation of truth which will establish them for the rest of their lives.
Though I am not a parent yet [at least as far as I am aware], this is the type of book my wife and I look forward to reading to our children in the future. In a world in which we are bombarded with lies from the enemy, this sweet reminder of God’s omnipotence as Creator over all is an important truth for children to know. It is never too early to begin teaching your children about the Lord and His Word and Sarah’s rendition is a perfect resource.
Whether you’re a parent yourself or are attending a baby shower, my wife and I both highly recommend Sarah’s book!
Plot: In six short days, God made the whole world. He started with a blank canvas of empty blackness and divided it into day and night. Then He got creative and started making plants of every variety, animals of every size, birds of every shape and fish of every color. then He made man and rested on the seventh day.
Boy, that was a lot of work. But in this delightful board book, it's super colorful and enjoyable story to read again and again and again.
Likes/Dislikes: This book is of very sturdy build with delightful splashes of color on every page. The second day of dividing day and night is especially exciting. My four year old loves the book and the 19 month old is especially fond of the third day with the birds and the fish. A win-win for everyone!
Rating: G-all ages. Highly recommended.

I received a copy of this book courtesy of the publishers for my honest opinion. I wasn't required to write a positive review and the opinions expressed in the above review are my own.
We just got a copy of God Made The World by Sarah Jean Collins. This perfectly sized board book tells the story of what God created on each new day. At 3, my daughter doesn't necessarily need to continue reading board books. But I prefer them for her still because she likes to crawl up into bed and read. But she's at an age where she wants "big" books instead of the typical little board books that you see for kids. God Made the World is the perfect size for her! It's big enough for her to want to read by herself, but still a board book so I'm not worrying about bent pages. ;)
The illustrations in God Made the World are also fun. Collins not only wrote the poetry found on the pages, but she drew the illustrations as well. The pages are filled with geometric patterns and shapes, bright bold colors, and are very eye-catching.
I love the cadence of the poetry within these pages. This will be a book I'll end up memorizing because we'll be reading and enjoying it quite often!
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.
Take a fresh approach to the story of Creation with these bright, beautiful geometric illustrations that your preschooler will want to look at over and over again!
My daughter's a bit past the typical board-book age, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying her favorites, or a new one that's as enticing as this.
The cover gives you a glimpse at the vivid illustrations that you'll find inside and the subsequent pages will definitely catch your child's attention as this book of rhyming verse describes what God made on each day of Creation.
I love the color combinations, the geometric shapes and the minimalist feel to this book, as well as the way each page's text rhymes to tell the story.
My daughter loves all that, too, but also enjoyed finding bits of symmetry on various pages.
I received a free copy of this product by Tyndale Kids in exchange for writing a review. All opinions are my own.
What an utterly delightful book for your young ones to learn about how God created the world done in such a beautiful way that is sure to engage and delight the very young! My almost 3 year old daughter really loved the book and all of the color and artwork, it is just bright enough to enchant children without being over the top. I loved the simple and yet profound text that explained the story of creation so well, giving vivid detail without being overwhelming. Charming artwork and a perfect design this book is a must have for anyone's collection. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I received a copy of this book through a Goodreads giveaway and am delighted that I won. This book will be a great gift for my almost 2 year old grandson. It is simply and colorfully designed and written in a manner that is perfect for younger children. It will quickly become a favorite choice of little ones.
I won this in a giveaway. I was attracted to this book as I am building my children's book collection for my first grandchild. I was curious about the illustrations given that the author is a graphic designer. It did not disappoint! The creation story is written in rhyme and the illustrations are wonderful. Very nice board book.
Such a sweet book, displaying the seven days of creation in easy to understand rhymes and vivid illustrations. Educating young readers/listeners of the true story of creation is made easy with memorable verses and colorful pages. I have nothing negative to say about this book. It's a great addition to a child's, parent's grandparent's, or caregiver's library.
Jack borrowed this book from the Ashland Public Ljbrary.
It recounts the Genesis 1 creation story in simple terms with bright, colorful, slightly abstract illustrations. Jack was running around and not paying attention at first, but eventually, he came to stand next to me. He particularly liked the animal page with the bear and kangaroo.
I received this book from a giveaway on Goodreads. It is an excellent book for a young toddler, to introduce God. It is simple and pictures and wonderful. A must have for every parents!
