The Kennedy Boys #4

Loving Kalvin

Rate this book
A second-chance romance from USA Today bestseller Siobhan Davis. Standalone with HEA and no cliffhanger.

Lana
I knew it would end in disaster, but I didn’t listen to reason. I didn’t care. Because I loved him so much.
Kalvin Kennedy ruled my heart.
Until he destroyed it.
Shattered it so completely that I became someone else. Someone I loathed. Someone who repeatedly lied to her loved ones.
So, I ran.
From him. From myself. Desperate to hide my new reality.
But I could only run so far.
When he reappears in my life, I’m terrified. Unbelievably scared of facing the consequences of my actions.
Never mind that I still love him and want him so badly—there’s too much at stake now.
How can I trust him with the biggest secret of all when he’s likely to rip my world apart again?

Kalvin
Lana was always far too good for me. Everyone knew it but her.
I tried to stay away, but I was weak.
And I hurt her.
Crushed her until she barely resembled herself. Forced her to follow a path she would never have willingly chosen.
And then she was gone.
And my world has never felt as empty, as lonely.
She begged me to stay away. Not to find her. To forget she ever existed.
But that’s like asking me to slice my heart in two and toss half aside.
I’ve never believed in fate, but when I rock up to the University of Florida, I’m ready to eat my words.
Because she’s here. Like I hoped she would be. And I’m determined to prove I deserve a second chance.

This series is only suitable for readers aged seventeen and older due to mature content and language.

Happy Book Birthday!!

Two young people whose backgrounds are quite different but having grown up together and been a constant in each other’s lives has bonded them forever in way they’ve yet to fully understand and only with love, understanding and forgiveness will they be able to get a shot at happy ever after.

It was difficult to see past her beaten and broken heart. The lie about what had happened between her and Kalvin Kenney had slipped out easily before the consequences of it could sink in. Almost putting an innocent man, the love of her life in jail though devastated her even further and sent her running. With a new identity, she thought she’d never have to face him again, but after he tracks her down can she keep lying to him? Can she trust him enough with the full truth? Can she forgive herself and try to start a fresh chapter in her life?

Believing he was not good enough for Lana, he pushed her away time and again until he was not strong enough to resist his own feelings and then he pushed her again and hurting her beyond redemption. Causing her to behave completely out of character and then run away. But no matter how much she’d like him to stay away and move on with his life, there’s nothing he won’t do to get her back. When he finds her, can he convince her he’s a changed person and their love deserves a second chance?
“Operation Honeybun has officially commenced.”

Kalvin and Lana’s story is will take you on a journey of self-discovery, forgiveness and love with some surprises and tears but mostly a love so absolute that is capable of overcoming lies and betrayal. Siobhan Davis is outstanding when it comes to young adult emotional romances, be it in outer space or college.

While I’ve read all the Kennedy boys books and knew Kalvin and Lana’s back story, this is not necessary to enjoy this story, Siobhan does an excellent job laying out not just the events that led to Lana leaving her hometown but we also get to know how their bond grew and changed from childhood best friends to lovers.
“You have such a good heart, Stinky.”
“You should know… you own it.”

Not wanting to spoil anyone, I won’t go into more detail about the plot and focus on the main characters. I’m sure most will find Lana’s behavior reprehensible. It’s true, she made terrible choices about very important matters, but there were a couple of things that kept me from disliking her. The first being that both she and Kalvin are barely adults and it’s normal for adolescents to feel as though their world will end every other day and having to face such a dire outlook, they can make bad decisions. The second being that Lana self-flagellated enough, eventually realized the error in her ways and did the right thing.
“I’m sick of this blame game, Lana, and I want it to stop. We’ve both done things we wish we could undo. I hurt you, you hurt me. It happened. Accept it, and move on.”

As for Kalvin, for years he made the choice to push Lana away, hide his feelings for her or rather not acknowledge them. But not having her in his life was the wakeup call he needed. He loved her enough to forgive her and then maturely handle everything else they had to face together.
“Sorry is far too easy a word for her to say. Sorry cannot even begin to compensate for how she's treated me this time.”

Loving Kalvin is book #4 in the Kennedy Boys series by Siobhan Davis. It is a standalone full length friends to lovers, second chance romance. Topics revolving around family, friendship, first love, forgiveness and trust are interwoven in this story. Told from both points of view and has a happy ending.

Well, Siobhan Davis is full of shocking surprises as she leads her readers down into the depths of her mind, imagination and the sensitive issues she writes about with such great care to detail. LOVING KALVIN goes above and beyond in the telling of one young couple’s twisted tale of love, loss and second chances. Get ready for the emotional upheaval, the gut-clenching revelations and the proof that just maybe dreams can come true, but it will certainly take more than the flick of a magic wand.

Lana was young, in love and desperate to be more than the dirty little secret she felt like with Kalvin as they shared precious moments together, in the shadows and he continued to be another Kennedy manwhore. She gave herself to him, dreamed they could have a future until it came crashing down and she sold her soul to the devil she knew, played the puppet and then ran to hide in shame. She took a piece of Kalvin with her and began to build her castle of lies. Lies to those she met at college, lies to Kalvin, lies of omission and worst, lies to herself.

Kalvin wants nothing more than to find and convince Lana he never meant to hurt her, that he needed her and that there is nothing she could ever do that he couldn’t forgive. Little did he know that promise would be put to the test again and this time the knife would be twisted into his heart, deeper than he could have imagined. This time, Lana would still lie by omission while letting Kalvin beg for the forgiveness he so desperately wants, with his actions and his words.

Siobhan Davis had me bouncing all over the grid, was Lana a villain or a victim caught in a twisted web of control And Kalvin? Is he part saint, part martyr and a little too ready to shoulder the blame for all of the issues that tore him and Lana apart? Yep, all over the grid.

Once again, Siobhan Davis has created a magnetic and enthralling tale that tackles some tough issues with powerful writing that allows readers to examine her characters and the events while still hoping for that Happy Ever After!

I received an ARC edition from Siobhan Davis in exchange for my honest review.

#LANAANDKALVIN4EVER

FIVE TRUE LOVE STARS for Lana and Kalvin 💖💖💖!!!

I don't know where to start.

Because I think I already said everything that I need to say in the first review for the "Kennedy Boys" series.

And my opinion didn't change a little bit.

Okay, I'm lying now.

Yes, my opinion changed but in a good way.

I always have high expectations of every new Siobhan's book and she always surprises me with it.

I loved.

I really loved and I'm still loving Faye and Kyler's story.

But, Lana and Kalvin are...

...my dearest.

My new favorite couple and I'm honestly sad that they got only one book.

"Loving Kalvin" is a romance book with friends to lovers, second chance and new adult tropes.

Lana and Kalvin's relationship is a slow burn.

They knew each other since they were two years old and they always had an open and trusting friendship.

But, then they have grown up and everything has changed.

They had a lot of ups and downs but after all, they've got what they deserved.

Lana is a female character who did some unforgivable things because she was hurt by his best friend in which she fell in love.

She realized that she made a mistake and she tried to do the right thing.

And when she tried made things to be better...

She was hiding one big secret.

Kalvin...

Ah, I think I'm in love again.

He is a male character who I want to be real.

After everything, what Lana has done to him, he forgave her and he also wanted to start again.

He wanted to win her love no matter what the others say.

He completely melted my heart in the part of the book that changed everything.

Yes, there is something so sweet that changed Kalvin's life and if you want to find out what am I talking about you need to read this book 😉!

If you're a fan of Siobhan's books, this is the book you NEED TO READ THE RIGHT NOW!!!

Highly recommended!!!

P.S. I can't wait to read Rachel and Brad's book 😍❤🔥!!!

Loving Kalvin in the fourth book in the Kennedy Boys series, but it is the first book in the series to work as a standalone novel. Although you do not need to read the Kyler books (the first three books in the Kennedy Boys series), it will help you somewhat if you have read those books. The Kyler books will give you a lot more background into the characters and some of the details brought up in this story. However, the Kyler books contain a taboo romance that will not be for everyone. Should the Kyler books not be your cup of tea, this book is still a fabulous read. If you are interested and you’re unafraid to read the taboo romance, I would certainly recommend reading this series in order. Each new book in the Kennedy Boys series brings something new, and it is great to see the characters develop from one book to the next. I can assure you, you’ll be pulled into the world of the Kennedy boys and you will be screaming out for more.

In all honesty, my feelings towards Loving Kalvin are much like my feelings towards Kalvin as a character. It’s poetic, when you stop and think about it. I was super excited to grab this book (I was excited to meet all of the characters in Finding Kyler), I was interested at the start of the book but I wasn’t as crazy about it as I had hoped I would be (I was interested in his character but I didn’t really like him as much as I’d hoped I would), but as things progressed I became truly addicted and fell in love in so many different ways (as his story developed I realised what a great character he was and my feelings towards him changed). As I said, it’s rather poetic when you stop and think about the parallels between the two.

As I said, I was super excited for this book. I became truly invested in Kalvin’s storyline throughout the Kyler books and I could not wait to find out where his story was going to head in the future. Although he is not my number one Kennedy boy, he managed to work his way much higher up my list than I’d thought he would. His storyline contained so much drama, there was so much to him, and I couldn’t wait to dive into more. It should come as no surprise to hear I dived right into this with a large quantity of excitement bubbling within.

At first, I wasn’t quite pulled into the story. Yes, I was curious. Yes, things were happening. Yes, I really enjoyed the introduction of new characters and the change of scenery. However, it didn’t quite hit me in the same way other books by Siobhan Davis have hit me upon the opening chapters. This is because the book is a lot slower and more character driven. It’s not a bad thing – I’ll go on shortly to explain why this is a wonderful thing it merely means you need to stick with the story for a little bit longer before it starts to move at a rapid pace. You’re pulled in by all the little things, but the bigger aspects of the story that leave you losing your connection to the outside world due to a disappearance into the story come at a later date.

I will admit to another element of the story threatening to leave me unsure. The book is filled with lies and deceit – it’s a very substantial part of the story. One of the elements I worked out very early on. I’m not going to say what it was, as I have no wish to spoil the story, but I feared it would be a cliché in that the detail would be kept a secret to the reader until the very end. You can imagine my joy when Siobhan Davis introduced the readers to this element of the story before the thirty percent mark. It was a wonderful change to the usual tropes in the genre, and it’s at this point that I really fell into the story. I honestly cannot explain why I loved this change of approach so much. Such details are usually written in the synopsis and there is a lack of emotional attachment, or the detail is kept hidden from the reader and this makes it difficult to connect. Siobhan Davis once again demonstrates she is more than willing to push the usual boundaries aside, taking expected elements of a story and twisting it into something new and uniquely her own. I won’t say any more on this matter – again, those pesky spoilers – but I did love the way Siobhan Davis went about this, it added so much more to the story.

Because, honestly, every detail of this story makes it an extremely emotional read. There are a lot of difficult emotions as we deal with heavy issues, but there is also plenty of light to be seen. It is your happy ever after story, but to reach that end you need to work your way through the storm. Whilst in the storm, there are also moments of lighter weather. Your emotions will be ripped raw, but there are also those moments where you’ll let out a good giggle. Honestly, I let out so many booming laughs throughout. I’ve recently moved house and I can only imagine what my new neighbours must be thinking of me from the volume of my laughter. It really is a deeply emotional book. You have the good, you have the bad, and you have everything else in between that makes a book true to life.

You really will be so invested in these characters. There is so much development for them both – both within this book and between the Kyler books and this one. There is so much drama to be found – a very different kind of drama to that faced in the Kyler books, but still plenty of drama. Along with all the other goodies that make up a Siobhan Davis books: the sweet romance, the heavier issues, and the endless addiction. With all of the heavy stuff focused upon the characters, we’re given a moving book where we truly connect with the characters. It is another fabulous read from Siobhan Davis.

I know a lot of people are labelling this her best work, their favourite Siobhan Davis read, but I’m not sure if I can do such a thing. This is not due to a dislike of the story – far from it. Merely that I had a brainwave whilst reading this. I cannot put Siobhan Davis books into the same category. Her science fiction reads have a category. Her contemporary reads have a category. Her contemporary reads can be further split up into smaller categories. Keeping Kyler was, without a doubt, my favourite of the Kyler books, but to compare Kalvin’s story to Kyler’s story is… well, I cannot even think of an analogy that fits. They’re vastly different in terms of how they feel. Kyler’s story ripped me apart and Kalvin’s story sewed me back up. They’re both great reads – all the Siobhan Davis books I have read have been great reads – but they’ve very different reads.

If you loved Kyler’s story, then you really need to pick up Kalvin’s story. It really does add so much to the Kennedy Boys series. Not only is it a great standalone novel, it also does many additional things. The biggest aspect is that it has left me super interested to read The Irish Getaway. Book three-point-five cannot come soon enough. I have so many questions about what happened and I’m so excited to receive all the details. This book also opens us up for the next book in the series – Saving Brad. I’m going to be honest by saying Brad is my least favourite of the characters (it’s an unpopular opinion, I know, and I’m sorry for this), but the little snapshot at the end of this one does have me intrigued about what will happen in his story. I feel as though there are some pretty big things to come, and I’m rather excited to see what happens.

In short, once again, Siobhan Davis has delivered a winner.

You know how when you read a book and it makes you feel emotion, it usually means the author has done a good job? Well, I started crying while reading this book. Not because I thought it was so freaking good, but because I was so freaking annoyed. I literally cried and was going to DNF about 3 or 4 times.
Lol, I cry when I get angry.
Want to guess who in this book is mainly responsible for my anger? Yes, it's "HONEYBUN". I have never thought I would hate a heroine more than I hate Lana. I thought Eva Fox from the Undeniable series was the worse but Lana is up there side by side with her. Now, I contemplated whether or not to read this book. I wasn't going to because I already decided at the end of Kyler and Faye's story that I despise Lana. Literally despise someone who could do that. And then claim they were "manipulated". Like she was the victim. I just couldn't take it. So the one and only reason I read this book was because I thought I HAD to read it to get to Brad's story. This wasn't completely true though. I could have skipped it and just went through Goodreads reviews to see if I missed anything major. But I decided to pick it up anyway.
So, 0% in, I already knew I didn't like Lana but decided that I was going to give her a chance to redeem herself.

20% in, I realized what her secret was (Which I don't know if the author made it that obvious on purpose or not but I felt she should have concealed it better.) But when I realized that, I already knew I would hate this book going forward. I cannot stand Secret baby eroticas that's why I avoid them. No woman has a right to hide a child from it's father. And knowing that Lana had a baby by Kal and was hiding it and constantly running from him made me so angry. And then Kal forgiving her so easily just made it worst.
She was just being selfish, putting it off, claiming she didn't want anything to ruin her perfect time with Kal all while I was just seething at what a selfish bitch she was being. I couldn't even enjoy their romantic moments because I hated she was keeping the secret. And when she found out her baby was sick and it could have been serious and her still not telling Kal about him, I almost screamed wishing she was real so I could punch her.

And what really heightened my anger was that Kal. That he kept chasing her. He deserves so much better than her. So much better. I loved him for a second when he told her he'll need time before he forgives her. I was like "Yes! Finally" And I thought she was going to work to get him back to her like he worked to get her back to him in the beginning when she didn't deserve it at all. But she did no work. She did not grow. She was such a weak character, a liar, a pathetic excuse for a person. I was convinced on his love for her but not hers for him. I just couldn't stand her.

There...I feel better getting that out now. :) Okay, on a brighter note, I love Siobhan Davis's work. I loved the first three books and if Lana hadn't fucked up so royally I probably would have liked this. But I just didn't. I'm excited for Brad though! I didn't hate this book I just hate Lana and her decisions. I just can't respect a woman that would do something like that.

I almost asked if we were supposed to actually like Lana.
I guess we are but I just couldn't. But that's just my opinion.

Siobhan Davis is still a kickass writer.

This book started off really promising, but I had a really hard time moving past the big secret of the story. Honestly, what this lead character did was completely unforgivable and I just can't rationalize it. I get she was young, upset and made a huge mistake, but that kind of lie is a major No!

Unfortunately, this book was a miss for me.

Having previously read the other Kennedy Boys books, I couldn't wait to get started on Loving Kalvin. For fans of the series, you'll know about the history of Lana and Kalvin and like me, you're probably dying to know how all that turns out!

The book is written in dual POV, which I kind of love. I've read several books this way lately and I like getting two (or even three sometimes) points of view to see what multiple characters are thinking. I enjoy getting into their heads, so to speak. So, this book is written from Lana and Kalvin's points of view in alternating chapters. So, you will not just get to see what Kalvin is going through, but what Lana is going through as well. It's especially important in this book because of their history with each other and the secrets that they end up discovering about each other.

The story is one of second chances, which I'm sure you could have guessed if you've read the other books in the series. I'm a big fan of second chance romance and love to see characters redeeming themselves and proving themselves worthy of the one they love and possibly did wrong. Both Kalvin and Lana have things they regret that they've done to each other and they are both trying to make amends and make things right.

I also love that we get to see the other Kennedys again, especially Ky and Faye and even Brad (who I know isn't an official Kennedy, but close enough, right?) It was interesting to see Faye and Ky in their current setting and see how they are interacting with each other after everything they went through in the first three books. I hope we get to continue peeking in on them as the series progresses.

The ending was lovely, there were a couple of times I was moved to tearing up and the ending was one of them. I am a sucker for a happy ending.

If you enjoyed the first three books in the Kennedy series, you're going to love this book. Since it can technically be read as a stand alone, you'll also enjoy this book if you are a fan of second chance romance and New Adult books.

I don't like Lana, I started off not liking her, I finished not liking her. I didn't like anything about her. I didn't like her personality, her unwillingness to talk to him at the beginning, how very little she did to fight for him, the secrets she kept, I didn't like how weak she was, my own personal experiences made me dislike her immensely. Her whole situation, while some would think, yeah okay I can understand why she chose to keep that secret...NO. There's no way. The story that Brett told Kalvin about his brother rang more of a bell with me than Lana. Trying not to reveal anything here, but if you are in a situation, there are times where you sacrifice and go at it alone, and you can absolutely get it done. She won zero points with me. I feel, even now that Kalvin deserves someone 100% better. I didn't feel any growth, any change, from that little girl that cried wolf. Then she went from one extreme in her situation, and just jumped into this little neat family package tied up with a bow, no independence learned, no big girl panties put on, nothing.

Kalvin made the story, and Florida made the story. (Go Gators!) and that's about it. I could've done without the whole love part.

Loving Kalvin is the 4th book in Siobhan's The Kennedy Boys series. It is a standalone, however, if you want to understand the true meaning behind Kalvin and Lana's history, I would highly recommend reading the previous three books, which you do need to read in order.

Quick background:

Kalvin and Lana have known each other since they were two. But they were never on the same level in society's eyes. He was the rich boy and she was the daughter of the help. As they got older, Kalvin denied whatever he was feeling for Lana and in her eyes, strung her along while he played the field with every other girl. Lana ended up doing the unthinkable and in her blind hate and rage, accused of him rape, something she knew wasn't true. She requited her statement in court but asked that he leave her alone and never look for her.

And that's where this Loving Kalvin starts off. Lana is now enrolled at UF and trying to move on with her life. She has changed her name so that people don't recognize her so easily and hopefully prevents Kalvin from ever finding her.

Kalvin finally got his shit together and realized that his feelings for Lana were never going to dissipate and that he needed to prove to her he was in it for the long run. But he also knows that he has a lot to prove of himself to her.

If you have read any of Siobhan's other books in this series, this book doesn't have the deep angst and drama that the others have. And it shouldn't. Kalvin and Lana story is about second changes, learning to trust and love again. These two have gone through a lot and now they are trying to move forward, together.

I have to admit, I am not a huge fan of Lana because of what she did. Even after reading this book, I am still on the fence with her. She is very selfish and uses excuses to explain away her decisions. I will be honest, Kalvin is a damn saint for being able to forgive her for everything and wanting to have that second chance. Without giving any of the twists away, Lana isn't completely honest with Kal when they start to rekindle what they have, and her dishonesty with him is way worse than her wrongful accusation of rape.

I know many are thinking, if you don't like one of the main characters, how could you rate the book with 4 stars. Let me explain myself - Siobhan was able to write a character that I am sure she no doubt knew her readers wouldn't care for initially but would maybe empathize with once we got her story. In my case, no, I still didn't like her. I don't hate her, but I am not a Lana fan at all.

For me, it's the fact that she is able to write an amazing story with characters I may love and/or hate that I rate this book so high. When an author is able to make the story so damn good, that I actually want to smack characters upside their heads because of their actions, that's a damn good book!

Loving Kalvin is an enthralling and emotional story. Siobhan really knows how to bring out all the stops and keep you rooted in the story with the ups and downs of a great love story. Another enticing read from Siobhan.

~I received an e-ARC from the author and willingly reviewed it~

Kalvin Kennedy has only had one girl in his heart; Lana Taylor. When they bump into each other at the University of Florida, Kal knows he has to win her back. Lana still remembers the bittersweet moment when she wrote the letter to Kal asking him to leave her alone. When she seems him in Florida, she doesn't know what to do. Staying away doesn't feel like an option...

The dual perspectives highlight different viewpoints. It shows us so much more insight into the story of Lana and Kalvin and also as to why it is this way. The author could've made their story simple, but Siobhan Davis makes sure it isn't too easy and the complications are realistic rather than overly drawn out and dramatic.

Lana's perspective helps readers understand why she made some bad decisions in earlier books, and showcases how she is dealing with the consequences and public backlash of them. Kalvin has really grown up since we last saw him, and it's so nice to see how much these two mean to each other, the amount they care about each other, and how hard they'll fight for each other.

Faye and Ky make brief appearances in Loving Kalvin as "phone call buddies", this may be Lana and Kalvin's story but we can't forget the couple that kicked off this series. I can't wait to see where Siobhan Davis goes with Saving Brad, which I'm sure will be a tale to rival Faye and Kyler's in levels of "I love you but let me pretend to hate you for the sake of it".

Loving Kalvin gives Lana and Kal the spotlight they deserve as they must work through their issues in order to get the best of one another. This tale of romance is one to have you swooning as you see what Kal will do to win back the only girl that has ever, and will ever matter to him.

★ 4.5 Loving stars! ★

I've waited for AGES for Kalvin's story to be written since I've read about them in Finding Kyler.

And when it landed onto my Kindle. My first reaction was:

Of course, I dived into it right away.

And ended up:

It wasn't pretty. It was full fledged sobfest and ugly cry but I loved every second of it.

I have always favored Kalvin over the other Kennedy boys, despite his reputation as a playboy, it's his boyish charms and thoughtfulness that reeled me in. Like Lana, I was irrevocably in love with Kalvin Kennedy, so when Lana accused him of a crime he did not commit, I was heartbroken and confused yet also intrigued by the backstory. Although I am appalled by the accusation, I never hated Lana and knew she spent most of the story to make up for her mistakes. What she did was wrong but everyone deserves a second chance, and it isn't easy to read about the backlash that Lana received because of the trial.

It really amazes me how both Lana and Kalvin matured over the time, and Kalvin's tenacity has always awed me. He never blamed Lana for what happened and was determined to regain her trust and love. I don't know how much more I could fall for Kalvin.

"Don't stop fighting for her.

While there is no cliffhanger this time around, the plot twist completely threw me off the loop. I also loved the fact that the story wasn't as dramatic as Kyler and Faye's romance, so it was more grounded and real. Loving Kalvin was a story of reigniting the old flame that was never diminished.

Their story isn't perfect, they made mistakes and piling them up with more mistakes, but you know what? True love never fails.

"We were put together to show the destructive side of love."

P.S. I'M PACING A HOLE FOR BRAD'S STORY! IT'S NEXT IT'S NEXT IT'S NEXT!!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the author.

"If you love someone, really love someone, you stand by them, even when they’ve screwed up. Especially then. You forgive them for their mistakes" ― Loving Kalvin by Siobhan Davis

This is such a beautiful romance. It’s about two soulmates finding their way back to each other. It’s about forgiveness, understanding and loyalty.

Kalvin and Lana have been soulmates since they were children and it grew stronger as they got older, until Kalvin's mother put a stop to them seeing each other. But that connection was still there, even when they tried to fight it. They hurt each other many times.

Now in Loving Kalvin they are in college. Lana had run off and went to University of Florida secretly. Kalvin went there thinking that's where she went, because they always talked about going together, and he wanted to find her and win back her love. He knew they belonged together and was willing to try whatever it took to get her back.

Lana feels she's undeserving of Kalvin's love. She's made some pretty unforgivable mistakes and hurt Kalvin very badly. Even though he says he forgives her, she just cannot forgive herself. It doesn't help that she still isn't being totally honest with him and is holding back important information from him. The guilt is eating her up and making her feel unworthy of his love.

The whole story is so heartwarming and the lesson of forgiveness is a big one.
It’s such a romantic story. I became so wrapped up in the characters. The narration was good. Especially for the main characters. Some of the side characters sounded a little strange. But overall I really enjoyed the audible version of this book.

“If you love someone, really love someone, you stand by them, even when they’ve screwed up. Especially then. You forgive them for their mistakes”
― Siobhan Davis, Loving Kalvin

This is such a beautiful romance. Yes there is drama and there is angst, but in my opinion that just made the romance that much more romantic. And lordy, can Siobhan Davis write some beautiful romance!! She also wrote some great hot and heavy scenes too!

Kalvin and Lana are soulmates.

Definition of Soulmate in the Urban Dictionary:
A person with whom you have an immediate connection the moment you meet -- a connection so strong that you are drawn to them in a way you have never experienced before. As this connection develops over time, you experience a love so deep, strong and complex, that you begin to doubt that you have ever truly loved anyone prior. Your soulmate understands and connects with you in every way and on every level, which brings a sense of peace, calmness and happiness when you are around them. And when you are not around them, you are all that much more aware of the harshness of life, and how bonding with another person in this way is the most significant and satisfying thing you will experience in your lifetime. You are also all that much aware of the beauty in life, because you have been given a great gift and will always be thankful.

This is what Kalvin and Lana have had since they were children and it grew stronger as they got older, until Kalvin's mother put a stop to them seeing each other. But that connection was still there, even when they tried to fight it. They hurt each other many times. It was just about killing them. Now in Loving Kalvin they are in college. Actually Lana went to University of Florida and Kalvin went there, thinking that's where she went, and he wanted to find her and win back her love. He knew they belonged together and was willing to try whatever it took to get her back.

Lana feels she's undeserving of Kalvin's love. She's made some pretty horrible mistakes and hurt Kalvin very badly.

I loved this book so much! Every single page!! We even got some glimpses of my favorite Kennedy, Kyler, and Faye, and the family! Yay!! I totally recommend this book, in fact I recommend that you NOT MISS IT!!!

In Loving Kalvin, we are transported to the Sunshine State where Kal and Lana are going to college. Even though there isn’t much of the Kennedy clan in this book, we get to meet new characters that quickly steal your heart, and I promise there is still plenty of drama, secrets, and lies that will make your jaw drop and keep your eyes glued to the pages.

We already have witnessed Kal’s growth as a character during the trial, but in Loving Kalvin, you get to see how often Kal’s newfound maturity is tested while holding your breath in hopes he doesn’t relapse. It is quite the struggle, and you will only fall more in love with Kalvin after reading this.

I really didn’t think much of Lana’s character prior to this book since I was so caught up in Faye and Ky, but after reading Loving Kalvin, I adore her. Get ready for some shocking moments involving Lana! I promise that if you are hesitant to read this because you are a Lana-hater, you will have a change of heart after living inside her head and experiencing her life before, during, and after the trial. Lana experiences many consequences that never entered my mind as possibilities, and you are missing out if you don’t buy this to see what happens.

You may not see it before you read Loving Kalvin, but these two were made for each other. I believe this story can also be classified as a friends-to-lovers romance which is one of my favorites, and Siobhan weaves so many hilarious anecdotes throughout the story, giving us a perfect glimpse into their lengthy history. I am not sure if it is due to their longstanding relationship or not, but the chemistry between Kal and Lana is hotter than hot. There are some bumps in the road before they become intimate, and it is totally worth the wait.

“All these emotions infuse every kiss, every caress, and I need him to feel it. To feel me. Right down to the very essence of who I am.” –This line makes me sigh every time I read it. So good.

I still can’t stop smiling about the new characters that are introduced. Get ready to experience the scariest grandma on Earth! I may be terrified of Lana’s grandmother, but I also pumped my fist in the air while yelling, “Girl Power!” and thanking Siobhan for continuing the theme of strong, independent female characters. Both Kal and Lana have the best college roommates that will make anyone who had terrible roommates envious! Brett is such a sweetheart and Liv has a good head on her shoulders (whom every girl should have as a best friend). I feel the villains are extremely realistic and also very well-written; I won’t mention their names. :-)

There is no cliffhanger with this one, and as part of the perfect ending, we get a little taste of Brad in a beautifully written segue into the book, Saving Brad. This will leave you starving for more Brad and asking hundreds of questions while counting down the days until Siobhan Davis gives us his story. All I know is that I cannot wait!

I received a BETA copy of this book and volunteered to review it.

This was such a great read I loved how the book started from the letter Lana wrote to Kal before the trial because I always wondered what she said to Kal in that letter. It was really interesting to how such a lovely person like Lana could make so many truly bad decision in the space of a few years an how she choose to deal with it was both good and bad. I found it to be refreshing to have such a flawed character in a story like this because in rang true in so many ways.

I was really lucky to read a beta copy of this book. This review, like all of mine, is spoiler free.

I was really excited for this book, because Kalvin is one of my favorite of the Kennedy boys. He's tied with Keaton, actually as my favorite Kennedy boy. I like how he always supported Faye and Ky, and that really endeared me to him, even if he was a lil bit of a playboy.

While I was never a big Lana fan, I was definitely open to the idea of them ending up together, mainly because I could tell from what she did at the trial that she did it from a place of hurt, rather than a place of just maliciousness. Also, let's be honest Addison is an evil little b**** with amazing capabilities as a master manipulator, so I blame a lot of it on Addison. Plus, Kal was never mad at Lana for it, so while I was still mad at Lana for what she did to him, I didn't hate her. I wasn't opposed to them getting together. I actually really liked the idea that he wanted to go after her, even though she was taking herself away so that she could let him rebuild his life.

Anyway, so I went into this book really excited and intrigued, because the author has said that it's slower, and more character driven than the previous books in the series.

It is different, but I thought it was perfect, and perfectly lovely.

I really liked getting to be in Lana's head. The book is told from alternating points of view. Siobhan handles this really well, and she uses the device very effectively. It was really interesting to also get to see Lana's view of the things that happened during the trial.

I loved getting to finally see things from Kal's point of view as well. I always knew he was a sweetheart because of how supportive he was of Faye throughout the series. It was really neat to see him since he has matured a lot since the trial. Watching him woo Lana was really sweet.

I don't want to say too much because I don't want to give anything away. But, I really really really loved it, and if you liked the other books, then I think you will love this one. There's also a teaser for Brad's book at the end of it and I am so stoked after reading it! I really love Brad, and I can't wait to see him get his HEA. :-)

Basically, I loved Loving Kalvin! It was full of great twists and turns! Kalvin has always been one of my favorite Kennedy boys. I loved getting to know him better through this book. He's every bit the sweetheart I always imagined him to be!

So I’ll be honest, I was not a fan of Lana before this book and to be completely honest, I’m still not her biggest fan. But, what attracted me to this book and what made me love this story was Kalvin Freaking Kennedy. What made me in the end like Lana (sorry I still can’t love her yet...she still has groveling to do) was Kalvin. Kalvin has had a spot in heart since Kyler and Faye’s story. It was love at first read! I couldn’t believe what Lana did and then in this story she did another unforgivable. My heart hurt for Kal. But, I also felt sympathy for Lana too because she was so hard on herself. I loved seeing Kal fight for his love and how romantic and sweet he was. Oh the angst, the drama, the secrets. Siobhan is an absolute pro at keeping your jaw on the floor because you never know what she’s packing up her sleeve. Kal and Lana’s story, though a very tough one wrought with obstacles is still one that warms your heart because love prevails.

I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed it

Wow this book was really good! It has a sweet and beautiful love story, but also deals with some tough topics. We met Lana and Kalvin in the first three books in this series and I always have been curious about their story. They just seemed so good together, but then things happened and I wasn't sure how they would get back from that. I loved that they get their second chance in this book and I am pretty sure it's my favorite book in this series so far.

Lana and Kalvin have hurt each other a lot in the past. And at times I wasn't sure how they ever would get over it and even if they did they would always have that stuff in their past. But at the same time I am a huge believer in second chances and that one mistake shouldn't be able to completely ruin your life. And that's exactly what this book is about. It shows how much they have hurt each other and how much these mistakes costs them. They still feel the consequences from their mistakes and it follows them around. But it's also a very uplifting and beautiful story about forgiveness and finding happiness. It's about the damage secrets can do, but also how love can overcome all.

This book was very sad at times, it's hard to see some of the stuff they have to go through. Random people who judge them and get angry for what happened. People who believe their own version of the truth. And also Lana who feels so guilty over what she has done, and I could understand why, because she did do something very bad, but I also hoped she would one dat be able to move past it. And on the other hand we have Kalvin who forgives her for what she has done and knows he made his fair share of mistakes too and how far he's going to prove her that he has changed and she is the one for him. Gah it just made for a great story. Next to the sad parts, there are some very sweet and beautiful parts and these two characters just belong together. And I loved reading about their journey.

While this book is part of a series and I think it's best to read the series in order if you can/ want to, it also can be read well as a standalone I think. I liked having read the first three books first as you have seen part of their past and the things they do to each other from Faye and Kyler's perspective. This book takes place later and does refer back to those events, but you don't get to read them when they happen. You do get a better understanding now why Lana did what she did and how what happened influenced her life and Kalvin's. I also felt like I could truly appreciate how much they both have changed as I know how they acted in the previous books.

I also have to say that this book did have a slightly different feel than the first three books. While the first three books were filed with drama and scandal, this book toned that down a bit. It's more character focused and while there are still issues to deal with, it's more things the characters have gone through and done and how they deal with it. And while I like both, I think the different feel fit this story.

It can be difficult to see past what they have done to each other, as they really hurt each other badly, but it was great to see how they dealt with everything and see what great people they are even while they made mistakes. I thought these characters wee very well written and their actions felt realistic for the most part. When Kalvin finds out something later on in the book I thought his reaction was very believable and it made sense he struggled with it. And also at first where he so easily forgives Lana for what she did, I thought it all made sense. It also made me think of how often we are judge ourselves the hardest as that's definitely true for this book. Lana really struggled with what she had done, while Kalvin was able to find forgiveness easier.

It's a great story. I was able to predicts a few small twists that happened, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the book. There was a part later in the book where I did think Kalvin changed his stance a bit too fast on something and I would rather have a bit more to the scene to understand his change of heart a bit better or have him explain it more to Lana. I also personally didn't really care about the Shelby and Chase side plot lines, it just felt a bit forced and then rushed into for one last attempt at drama towards the end.

I already got to know Lana and Kalvin a bit in the first three books and I liked being able to get to know them better here. I really liked them both. Kalvin was so sweet to Lana, we already got hints of his nice personality in the previous books, but it really shone through here. He really wants to show Lana how much she means to him and that he's not going to repeat the mistakes of his past. And I also liked Lana, I really admired how she handled everything she went through. She had to deal with so much and still dealt with it greatly, even though it also was obvious how she struggled with things.

It also was nice to see a little bit of the other Kennedy Boys as well in this book, but mostly this is Lana and Kalvin their story. We see a bit of Faye, Kyler and Brad throughout the story and then at the end a bit of the rest of the family. Which was nice to see them all again. The ending was so sweet and perfect and it made me happy to see how it ended. I just wish the scene from Brad wasn't behind it as it diminished my happy end of the book feeling a bit.

To summarize: This book was so good! It has this sweet and beautiful romance story and two characters who are perfect for each other. And at the same time it deals with some tough topics and mistakes they made in the past. They hurt each other a lot and at times I wasn't sure how they would get beyond that, but it was amazing to see the story progress and how they dealt with everything. Kalvin is so sweet and I really admired Lana and how she handled everything. I also believe that even though she made a mistake she deserves this second chance, they both did. I liked the few glimpses of their past and how their relationship started. These two are great for each other and the ending was perfect!

nope.

the secret baby trope and best friends to lovers are some of my favorites but i couldn't enjoy this book because seriously, they were always in love with each other but he wasn't ready to commitment in a monogamous relationship and he cheated on her (he was drunk but whatever), and she got so mad at him that she falsely accused him of rape??? nope.

5/5 Forgiveness Stars

The author gifted me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is my favorite Kennedy book of the series. I am quite shocked that it is considering how things were left between Kal and Lana in the Kyler books. I don't want to get all spoilery so I will just say this: What Lana did to Kal in a prior book was an absolute deal breaker for me. If I were Kal, I might be able to forgive her to give myself some peace, but I would never want anything to do with her again.

There is no OTT drama in this one, and I enjoyed it more because of it. Kal sees all the pain he caused Lana and is willing to fight for her love. Lana beats herself up enough so that I don't feel the need to do so. I still don't like what she did, but I found myself cheering for this couple in spite of it. Then, in this book, she did another beyond horrible thing to him. Again, no spoilers. With these two betrayals, if I were Kal, I'd be looking into MGTOW.

At least Lana has to take some heat for her poor decisions. I'm glad the author wrote that in. It would have been harder to overlook and believe if she hadn't. Kal's reaction was totally believable too. Instead of storming in, he took a day to calm down and think things through. It didn't stop him from telling her the truth though.
Sorry is far too easy a word for her to say. Sorry cannot even begin to compensate for how she's treated me this time.

If he had folded, and told her all was forgiven, I probably would have thrown my Kindle across the room. Instead, this:
"I came to UF to fight for a second chance. To prove I could be the man you deserved, but things have changed. Now you need to prove you're the woman I know you to be, because the Lana I knew didn't lie, and she sure as hell didn't allow herself to be manipulated into doing things she wasn't comfortable with... But you're not her, and I can't believe in you, can't trust you, not when I know what you're capable of. And without that, there is no us."

At this point I was fist pumping the air. Kal absolutely needed to step away and focus on himself and his responsibilities. He couldn't worry about Lana's feelings. She sure as hell didn't worry about his. If the book had ended here, I would have been fine.

But it didn't. No spoilers, but I did like the ending.

I received an eARC of this book from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

On starting Loving Kalvin by Siobhan Davis, I knew I was in for some heart ache. Having read the first part of The Kennedy Boys series, I knew Lana and Kal’s history and my heart already hurt for this pair. Something inherent was broken and I really didn’t know if it could be fixed. So I was anxious to begin and once I started I couldn’t set it down. Told in dual POV (which I loved), Siobhan Davis has created yet another beautiful redemption story.

I love Kalvin! Kal was one of my favorites from the original trilogy so I was excited to read his story AND doubly excited when I realized part of his story was from his POV. I didn’t realize how young he was. I’m not really sure how I missed that in the first books, but he’s only 17, making him 16 when everything with Lana went down. He’s changed a lot since then though. He was forced to grow up, face the consequences of his mistakes, and live without the girl he loves in his life for nearly a year. It changed him and for the better.

At the start of the story, I wasn’t sure how to feel about Lana. I love a good second-chance romance though so I wanted to see how the author would redeem her. Lana did a truly horrific thing to Kalvin and has paid the consequences and is still paying them when Kal reenters her life. She’s skittish of the boy and rightfully so. I couldn’t imagine facing him if I was in her shoes. It’s heart wrenching, especially when reading it from her POV.

While this story can be read as a standalone, I feel the plot and Kal and Lana’s romance will have more effect on those that have read the previous books in the series. While the author does a good job of recapping the events that have occurred to Kal and Lana, it doesn’t have the same effect as having read those events as they happened to the characters from Faye and Ky’s POV. At least, that’s my opinion.

Both Kal and Lana made mistakes. They hurt each other, you know that deep hurt that only someone you love could cause. Some of it was intentional, some was inadvertent. Either way it built up to the events that led to their separation, and now they have to face each other once again. The true theme of the book is forgiveness, and it is beautifully portrayed in the book.

Overall I really loved this story! I love second chances, and Lana’s and Kal’s mistakes were big ones, yet they overcame them and are now ready to face those mistakes. It’s heartbreaking and an unputdownable read. If you enjoy contemporary romance or have enjoyed The Kennedy Boys so far, I highly recommend you grab a copy of Loving Kalvin. It doesn’t disappoint!

I had not read the previous book in this series and I really don't think it is necessary the author gives enough background information to you won't be lost.
What happens when the boy/man you have loved all your life doesn't appear to love you too? And then hooks up with the family enemy? Lana accuses Kalvin of the unthinkable and then takes it back and runs away.
Lana is tying to start over. Her heart is broken but she is determined to begin again and put the trial behind her.
Kalvin can't forget Lana. he realizes he hurt her deeply and he wants her back. He follows her to college.
As Lana and Kelvin begin to try to heal the past pain Lana need to forgive herself in order to move on.
When Kalvin finds out the Lana is keeping another secret from him this time it is something he may not be able to forgive.
Can these two soulmates find their way back to each other putting the past behind them and moving on.
I really loved reading this story. I loved how Kalvin told his brother that - "If you love someone, really love someone, you stand by them even when they've screwed up. Especially the, You forgive them for their mistakes."
I received this book and giving an honest voluntary review.

Kalvin and Lana grew up together and were best friends. In high school their relationship changed and their feelings were much deeper however neither was mature enough to handle how they felt for each other. Kalvin hurt Lana more than once and when she reached her breaking point she hurt him in the worst way possible. She knows that he would never be able to forgive her and why should he so she tells him to never contact her again and she leaves town.

After Lana left Kalvin accepted responsibility for his part in the tragedy and he has forgiven her and wants her back and now he just needs to convince her. He is determined to fight for a second chance for what always should have been but there is one more bombshell to be dealt with before they can look to the future but will this be the one thing that could send him away?

This is an emotional rollercoaster filled with twists and turns that keeps you coming back for more. It is a wonderful story about the power of love and how it has the power to forgive just about anything. This is a great addition to the series and I can’t wait for the next story about this family. **I voluntarily read a review copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*

Loving Kalvin was absolutely amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Kalvin made a lot of mistakes when it came to Lana. He hurt her repeatedly but when he lost her, his heart ached and he realised how much he loved her. Has he genuinely learnt from his mistakes?

Lana is determined to make a fresh start but when her past catches up with her present, she finds herself drowning with the guilt of her lies/secrets.

Lana and Kalvin love each other fiercely but will her omission doom their love or make them stronger?

Kalvin goes above and beyond to win back the love of his life and I have to admit, I was rooting for him all the way.

Lana was hot/cold throughout which was understandable. She took responsibility for her mistakes and i admired the fact that she defended Kalvin by putting herself in the firing line.

A beautiful, emotional story about forgiveness and second chances.

Siobhan has done it yet again! I swear she can't write anything bad even if she tried!

this book follows Kalvin and Lana. I don't want to cause any spoilers but know it is full of emotional turmoil but with such a feel good ending you can't help but smile the whole time.

while this is the 4th book of a series it can be read as a standalone. some characters will make more sense if you do read the first 3 books though.

This book is so full of life changing messages, you won't be able to read it without looking at your own life and thinking of ways to make it better. I loved that aspect of the book. it might have been a warm, feel good book, but you also set it down with such a positive outlook on your own life.

I hope you all run out to pick up this book, or better yet this whole series, i guarantee you won't be able to put them down until you've finished them all!

Loving Kalvin by Siobhan Davis- Kalvin was accused of raping his girlfriend, Lana, and is scheduled for court. Eleven months later they are both attending the same college and run into each other by accident. Lana is hiding something from Kalvin and she's reluctant to tell him about it. The story contains graphic language and graphic sexual content and fits in the new adult genre. The characters are more vulgar and arrogant than in the Kyler Kennedy books. Lana was a contradiction of confidence and lack of self esteem, so I questioned her sincerity at times. She also wavered between mature decisions and immature actions. 4 stars for this addition to the Kennedy Boys series.
I read a complimentary advance copy of this book which I have voluntarily reviewed.

Kalvin!! OMG!! I knew he was a horn dog (the first book proved that), but I didn't know how fiercely he loved. From book one to now, it's like seeing a completely different guy. Kal went from cocky, to secretive, to hurt and lost, then to alpha male. WOW!!

Lana was essentially the girl next door. She grew up with Kal and his brothers. But she was closer to Kalvin. As they spent more time together and grew up, Lana felt something for Kal that was more than like. What she didn't know at the time, is that he did too.

Kal and Lana together was beautiful. They were both broken after what Lana accused Kal of. But the secret she was hiding from him was one for the books. I understand why she did it. She falsely accused him of doing something that he didn't do, and coming forward with her news would have been shock to everyone. These two fought tooth and nail for each other. And I was worried for a bit that Kal wouldn't come around. But they did. And I can't wait to see them pop up a little in the other stories.

I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book and it was outstanding! I am pretty sure after reading this book I am in love with Kal! Lana made plenty of mistakes but you still end up liking her as well. This book can be a stand alone, but there are other books by Siobahn Davis that touch on their shared history, as well as their friends. I am looking forward to seeing more books out of this series. This book is very entertaining, be prepared to binge read! You won't want to stop reading until you find out the entire story.
