Closer is a Stage Dive novella that can be read as a stand-alone, but if you're like me and have read and loved the Stage Dive series you get to spend a lot of time with those characters which made me love this story all the more.
Mae Cooper is a plus-size model who finds herself with a stalker. Because of this, she has to hire personal security until the guy is caught. Ziggy Thayer is ex-military and now does security. He is assigned to Mae. From the moment these two meet, you can just feel the chemistry between them. With time, it only intensifies. But until this guy is caught, they both know nothing can happen between them... but afterwards, afterwards is fair game.
Ziggy is the strong and silent type. He never gets attached to clients and never lets attraction get in the way. But there's something about Mae. I loved that Mae was sweet, sexy, and confident. She was just a little bit goofy and such a fun character. There was just a bit of suspense in this one, a few laughs, and a lot of sexy. If you're looking for a quick and steamy read pick this one up. I really enjoyed reading it.

Kylie Scott knows just know how to write and create dreamy fictional men *sigh
I was completely dazzled and dazed by Ziggy. He is masculine to the T and ...gosh... the chemistry between Ziggy and Mae is soooo good!!!
I'd like to point out that I find it so adorable that this hot curvy woman, whom people drool over, tends to blather when she's nervous? It's cute and funny!
For a novella, I didn't feel cheated at all with this book because Closer is fun and sexy, hot and steamy and has just the right about of suspenseful excitement that keeps you wanting more.
For all the Fans of The Stage Dive series or fans of Kylie Scott...or anyone who loves books from this genre, this book is a must read.

Closer is a Stage Dive Novella full of Kylie Scott goodness that will spark a fire on your kindle due to the combustible attraction ignited between Mae Cooper and her bodyguard Ziggy Thayer. Mae is a popular plus-size model who has caught the attention of a crazy stalker. Despite the given circumstances (that no bodyguard is supposed to fall in love with his client), it doesn't take Mae long to draw Ziggy out of his shell and into her bed!
“This was a fucking disaster. My brain refused to function, all synapses had stalled. I didn’t know if it was the immaculate black suit, general air of badassery, or his stone-faced expression. But whatever it was, he needed to cease and desist with the hotness immediately.”Overall, Closer is a quick read full of passion blended with suspense and topped off with all of our favorite Stage Dive Characters. This has forever been one of my favorite Rock Star Romance Series and as always Kylie Scott did not disappoint. Stage Dive Fans will enjoy Closer and if you haven't met the Stage Dive Crew this is the best appetizer to dive into! I will never tire of these bad boys and their spunky women!

Since I discovered that 1001 Dark Nights was revisiting the Stage Dive series I have been impatiently awaiting Closer. Had I known what a fabulous treat this would be then I would have been even more anticipatory.
The story focuses on Mae, a model, neighbour of David and Ev and recipient of some rather ghastly mail. Enter Ziggy, one of Sam's close protection workers and a definite addition to my favourite book boyfriends list. Ok, Mal still holds the top spot of the Stage Dive world but Ziggy is a definite contender for his crown. Mae was a delight and her interactions with the Stage Dive family were fantastic.
The chemistry between Mae and Ziggy sizzles. Mae is genuinely likeable and Ziggy is a total swoonster.
It would make me so happy if this were the start of a series focused on Sam's team. This is definitely a 5 star read for me and easily one of my top reads this year.

Body positive done right...
I've read a few BBW (I think it's Big Beautiful Woman...but don't quote me) stories in my time and I found Closer one of my favourites. It can be hard to get the confidence, healthiness and sassyness in the heroine, just right. Mae is confident...and a little klutzy. She is healthy mostly with a personal trainer she works out regularly with...but loves her sweet treats. Mae is a sassy mix of fancy schmancy on the catwalk, and daggy and comfy at home. She says what she's thinking but is thoughtful to others feelings. Where Kylie Scott got this character body positive right, is that Mae is not defined by her size.
Now, saying all of this, Closer is not centred on a BBW successfully snagging a hot guy. Being a short story, I would say the threat to Mae is the major focus of the storyline, wit the romance playing second fiddle. Mae has an unwanted stalker and Ziggy is assigned to protect her. There is an underlying zing between the characters but it's not really known until near the end if it's mutual.
I really enjoyed reading Closer and loved catching up with the Stage Dive gang. With this romance only being short, I found myself a little disappointed that we don't get a lot of time "seeing" Mae and Ziggy together. I would have loved a little bit of Ziggy's inner thoughts and feelings as he was a little too successful with his stoic and professional facade.
If you're looking for a Stage Dive fix, love Kylie Scott's heroines like I do, and just want a quick read, I highly recommend giving Closer a try.

3.5 stars. I really wanted to like this book. Great blurb, great series but not the strongest in the series. Our main characters are a broody, trying-to-stay-professional and very stoic Ziggy, the bodyguard. And Mae, our supermodel who's being stalked and sent some pretty unsavory gifts (which prompted the need for a bodyguard). Both characters, sadly, came off a bit cliche. Mae's "famous" friends also came off a bit cardboard cliche, even though they were good characters. There is nothing from his POV so I never understood him as a character or his motivations. He doesn't really do much of anything other than stare and smolder for about 75% of the novel, which made me as the reader have a tough time connecting to him since all I knew was he was hot and an ex-marine with some good fighting skills.
Overall, the story is cute and short. It's a classic forced-protector, forced-proximity bodyguard story that I didn't find innovative. But if you're looking for this classic trope, then you may find it's your thing.

Loved the heroine's sense of humour, enjoyed the romance between Mae and the rather stoic, super protective Ziggy (who warms up and reveals more about himself and his feelings for her as the tale goes on), and enjoyed listening to this novella/audiobook as narrated by Andi Arndt.
Please note that the story is told from the heroine POV alone.
That works for some and not others, especially when it comes to the serious, quieter hero, but I was all good with it.
(And it's always fun to spend some time/catch up a bit with Mal and his pumpkin, Anne. For those of you who know him, he was being his crazy, OTT, loveable self as per usual. *smile*)
I'm looking forward to the next novella in this series re: rocker, Adam Dillon, which is slated to come out next year.

La razon principal por la que lei este pequeño relato es porque deseaba saber mas de mis queridos Stage Dive y aunque solo hay una escena corta en la que aparecen, me doy por satisfecha.
Closer es una historia demasiado apresurada como para que resulte memorable, todo sucede a un ritmo muy rapido para mi gusto, ademas la relacion entre los protagonistas es practicamente inexistente, de un momento a otro estan profundamente enamorados y la verdad es que no me parecio nada creible.
En fin, Closer puede que sea una lectura que te guste si eres fan de esta saga, sin embargo, yo la senti floja y muy superficial.

Kylie Scott takes a quick dip back into the Stage Dive universe to bring us the story of Mae, a confident, down to earth plus-size model, with a stalker problem.
Enter her newly hired, stoic, ever vigilant bodyguard, Ziggy. His thousand-yard stare is a tough nut to crack, but that doesn't stop Mae from trying. And staring.
Told in the first person POV of Mae, I understood why the enigma of Ziggy was intriguing. His quiet self-assurance and attention are alluring. I would have loved to get inside his head a bit more. Unfortunately, in the end, he remained a bit out of reach for me. As for Mae, she was likable, relatable, and unpretentious—one of the reasons I love this author's heroines so much.
With a quick pace and cameos from some of my favorite stage dive characters (Mal!), this novella scratched that itch for more Stage Dive. While this can be read as a standalone easily, I recommend starting with Lick, the first book series.

Welp. This pains me because I have enjoyed The Stage Dive series SO MUCH. Mal and Anne's book, Play, is among my all-time favorite romances. I absolutely loved seeing all the Stage Dive couples living their best lives and for that alone, I'm happy I read this.
Mae and Ziggy, however. Sigh. I wanted to love them. But when a story is told strictly from the heroine's POV, and the hero's main personality trait is stoic, it's hard to get connect with the romance. Mae was cute, but it almost felt as if she was spending alot of time in her head talking to herself, instead of actually talking to Ziggy. So I like Mae, but I didn't know Ziggy other than he was hot and filled out a suit very well. The rest of the story involving Mae's stalker was standard, and resolves itself pretty much as expected - quickly with little fuss or muss.
Closer is a novella, so I was hoping the romance would really carry this story, but in the end, it just fell a bit short for me. Oh well.

We're back in Portland - in the apartment building where most of the Stage Dive boys and girls live.
Curvy model Mae lives here too.
She just got back from a shooting and the doorman hands her a package.

After that her friend Lena decides she needs a bodyguard until they catch her stalker.
Enter Ziggy.
He's a hot as eff Executive Protection Officer and there's an insta attraction on both sides - but of course he can't let that distract him from his job - keeping her safe.
Let the fun times begin!

Finally back in the Stage Dive World!
Oh Mal - how I missed you!!! He's the best thing about any and all Stage Dive books - sorry other guys and girls, but Mal is the greatest. Idiot. Mostly. But still - I just adore him.
I just copied these last few lines from my previous review - because it's still the truth! Mal was again the secret star in this novella!
But of course Ziggy is hella hot too! All tall, dark, capable and silent. No smiles from that guy. But Mae makes it really hard for him to stay unsmiling!
I adored those two!
This very short novella was funny, sparky, exciting, suspensy and I just loved reading it - loved being back in the Stage Dive world for a little while!

I love these 1001 Nights stories. I love that I get a bit more of the Stage Dive family (let's be honest, any slice of Mal that I can get, I will take) however I love that we are introduced to the extended family of the Stage Dive world, and that I can read these as stand alones if I wanted to.
Mae and Ziggy's story is full of longing looks across the room, UST and just full on wanting, whilst trying to toe the professional line.
I gotta say, I love a story where the protectee falls for the protector - there's something about a hot bodyguard in the corner that just does it for me! I know it would be horrible in real life, but in fantasy world it is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Ok so this is a novella with lingerie model Mae and her bodyguard Ziggy, someone's sending threats to Mae and Ziggy's hired. This just felt weird and awkward, we know Mae finds Ziggy attractive but without his POV we have to rely on her seeing looks from him that points to him returning the attraction. Then the stalker is taken down and they have awkward sex and that's it they're together.......it was just awkward?? Idk this review is awkward 😂 I'm done.... this just didn't work for me I mean even the damn proposal was.......you guessed it.......awkward 😂

Mae non era solita lamentarsi, l’ autocommiserazione non l’apparteneva. Mae era una modella, star di Instagram, presa di mira da uno stalker furioso che le inviava “oggetti” inquietanti.
La sua fortuna era quella di vivere in un elegante palazzo abitato da parecchie rockstar, tra cui Adam Dillon e metà dei membri dagli Stage Dive, la band famosa in tutto il mondo.
Le piacevano molto i suoi vicini. Perfino Mal aveva un certo fascino, la sua follia era quasi rilassante: «Con lui nei paraggi, non occorreva ingegnarsi per trovare argomenti di conversazione. Potevi restare semplicemente seduto e goderti lo spettacolo».
Mae non era solita lamentarsi, l’ autocommiserazione non l’apparteneva. In passato aveva subito già una brutta batosta, e si era ripresa, sarebbe passata anche questa: «Ancora qualche giorno e poi avrebbero parlato di qualcun altro e il mio stalker sarebbe finito dietro le sbarre. There will never be any hesitation from me when it comes to delving back into the world of The Stage Dive crew. This time around the story centres around plus sized Instagram model, Mae Cooper and ex military - now turned executive protection officer, Ziggy Thayer.
Mae has been receiving unwanted attention from a stalker but her ties to The Stage Dive wives mean they hook her up with the best in the personal protection business. If Mae is honest she feels quite silly at the fuss made at keeping her safe, but at the same breath she’s so grateful to the sense of calm she has being in Ziggy’s company.
Ziggy is a consummate professional and her attempts at engaging him conversation initially fall flat. She’s highly aware of the cliché of falling for her bodyguard but her feelings aren’t as one sided as she thinks. Their chemistry is palpable but his desire takes a backseat to dealing with the danger at hand.
I really enjoyed the suspense from not only the stalker plot but also that of the progression of Mae and Ziggy’s relationship. Admittedly I would have loved to have seen more of them as a couple, but overall it was a enjoyable read. I would remiss to mention the appearance of fan favourite Mal, he is just as amazing as we all remember him and these novella’s wouldn’t be the same without him.

Closer by Kylie Scott was a fast-paced novella that features our favorite band, Stage Dive.
Mae happens to live in the same building as some of the members and she's good friends with Lena Ferris (Jimmy's wife). She's an up and coming super model and has a stalker in her midst... Ziggy Thayer is hired to protect her. Cue the sweet, sweet attraction and overall tension.
Soley told through Mae's POV you get all her feelings for this quiet man for Ziggy is very professional and hides his feelings. Well, that is until all hell breaks loose.
Though this novella was a good addition to the series, I needed more of Mae and Ziggy's romance! Regardless, this was an easy read that gave me a glimpse at some beloved characters. Also, there were some bromance moments with the band that were a total bonus! All Hail Mal Ericson 😍. Disclaimer: if you don't know who Stage Dive is, please do yourselves a favor and read the Stage Dive series. You won't regret it! 🎸

This is a novella set in the Stage Dive world. Even though it is a part of the Stage Dive Series, it can be read as a standalone. The novella is told only from Mae Cooper (main heroine) POV.
🎧 Format: audiobook listen. This audiobook is just under 3 hrs and can be listen to in one sitting. Lastly, it was narrated by Andi Arndt which in all honestly she is one of my favorite narrators so I quite enjoyed the narration!
BRIEF STORY PLOT
Since her break up, Mae Cooper has shifted all her focus to her work. Things come to a halt, when she is mailed a cow heart with a knife plunged into it. Talk about creep level x10000. For her own protection, Lena Ferris (wife of Stage Dive's lead singer) sets her up with a body guard - Ziggy Thayer. Mae is instantly attracted him and he seems to be the only person that has been able to get her out of her funk since her ex. Unfortunately, Mae is still handling residual insecure feelings since her break up from her cheating football player ex which makes her fearful to put herself out there again. That is until, Ziggy comes to her rescue when the creepy stalker sending her those packages attempts to attack her.

It was a ehh, okay book!
➟ Steam factor: low. These two do not even act on their attraction until the last 40 minutes of the book. I'm not saying I needed a bunch of sex, just I was hoping for more steam than just 2 minutes. *sigh*
➟ Recommend: Yes.
➟ Secondary Characters: LOVED. Mal cracked me up so much in this book. Also, I truly loved Mae friendship with Lena, she is my favorite wife out of the whole crew.
➟ Character Development: alright. For a novella, it was not terrible but I felt a lot was left open. For instance, what is up with Ziggy and his brother's relationship!? Their relationship seemed tense as hell.

I absolutely adore Kylie Scott’s writing style and this book was just one more in a long line of awesome that can prove it :) even though it’s a novella, so shorter than I would have liked, it was a great story :) told entirely from Mae’s perspective it’s about how she has to hire a bodyguard because of a stalker she gets… enters Ziggy :) since this is not a full length novel I don’t want to get into too many details in my review, cause I don’t want to spoil you every little thing, so instead let me tell you this: I adored everything in it :) Mae is a plus-sized model who is confident and hilarious, Ziggy is a total professional during his assignment, which I very much appreciated… little appearances here and there from our favourite couples from Stage Dive series are a wonderful addition but don’t change the fact that this story can be read as a standalone :) I highly recommend you to pick this one up when you need something to make you smile and brighten your mood :) now of course I want to re-read all the stories from the original series, but that’s a “me” problem ;)

Damn that was hot. And for a novella Kylie Scott managed to pull off the slow burn to perfection. I really love these 1001 nights novellas. They are the perfect way to discover a new author or series or just the perfect little cherry on top of a much loved series.
And although I adore Kylie Scott's writing I am only about half way through the Stage Dive series as I keep getting pulled away from them and since I know I will love them I can save them for book slumps. But I read the blurb for this one and I really had to read it right now.
Mae was awesome. I loved that she was a plus sized model with her own lingerie line. And despite the drama she had going on she wasn't a drama queen or a victim about it all. She just pulled up her pretty lace panties and got on with living her life without being stupid about it.
But damn was Ziggy hot. I loved that he was so stoic and professional until he could let his guard down. And once he did he was all in for Mae. There's just something so sweet about the strong silent type being so emotionally open that works.
I really loved the story and it was a perfect length. Enough depth and story-line without any unnecessary information or drama. The perfect read for a lazy Sunday.

This is a quick read, that has a small connection to the Stage Dive series (the heroines lives in the same building as some of the band members, and yes, they are featured in the story).
Mae Cooper is a super model with a problem.
A stalker who likes to send her blood cow hearts. Gross.
Enter Ziggy Thayer, who is hired to protect Mae.
Told solely from Mae's POV, we only get her impressions of the new man in her life, 24/7. The attraction is obvious, but Mae does have bigger things to worry about with the stalker and paparazzi hounding her. Ziggy does a great job keeping things professional, so it was hard to tell if the attraction was mutual. That is until his main job is completed. Then all cards are on the table.
As a novella, it is always hard to connect to the characters in such a short amount of time. But the story was a good one and I liked how it was laid out. Bonus points that we get just a little bit more from Mal Ericson - LOVE HIM!!

Mae is at a loss when she receives a package that was hand delivered to her apartment building that contains, well lets just say it's not something you can order on Amazon and leave it at that. Thankfully she lives in the same building as some of the Stage Dive families and she is friends with Lena who right away calls Sam so he can get security on her because she isn't going to let some crazy stalker get close to Mae if she has anything to say about it.
I loved the chemistry between Ziggy and Mae, which you feel as soon as they lay eyes on one another. Mae is a beautiful woman, hence why she is a model but she does have her insecurities especially after her ex publicly humiliated her, but I seriously loved the way she handles him..lets just say he definitely got what was coming to him. Okay, lets get back to Ziggy and Mae who definitely try to keep things as professional as possible and in all honesty that probably adds to the sexual tension that surrounds them.
This was not only a great addition to the Stage Dive Series but also to the 1,001 Dark Nights Series as well. This book can be read as a standalone and is written with the intention of giving lovers of the Stage Dive Series a bonus read on a couple we may not have had otherwise, while the 1,001 Dark Nights Series gives us a peek into different authors worlds and hopefully entices you enough to fall in love, and I really think Ziggy and Mae will do just that. Welcome to the crazy wonderful world of Stage Dive I hope you love them as much as I do.

Closer was a Stage Dive Novella by Kylie Scott.
It had been awhile so I didn’t recognize the main characters but then quickly remembered that Ziggy worked for the security company owned by Sam (Strong, book four) and did all the security detail for the band, Stage Dive. He was ex-military and all business.
Mae was a friend to Lena (Lead, book three) and lived in the same building as the Stage Dive members. Mae was a successful model and owner of her own lingerie line. She had just received multiple threats and let Stage Dive convince her to hire a body guard until the investigation was complete. Enter Ziggy.
The plot was sweet and sexy and told in a single POV, Mae. Scott added a little suspense and Stage Dive camaraderie for extra dimension and depth. All in all, it was a quick and enjoyable read.

I'm not familiar with Kylie Scott, but after reading Closer, I definitely want to read more about Stage Dive. This is a fast entertaining story that I read in one setting. Mae is a plus size model in need of a bodyguard. Ziggie is hired, and he's the stoic almost brooding type. Can he resist Mae? She's beautiful, intelligent and relatable. She's a much better description of the average woman than I normally read, and I found that refreshing. I liked everything about this story and the characters. It's well written, fun, sexy and engrossing. Another great addition to the 100 Dark Nights Collection!

Diese Serie habe ich damals geliebt und durch Zufall auf Instagram entdeckt, dass wieder eine Kurzgeschichte dazu erschienen ist. Mein erster Schritt. Natürlich gleich kaufen und downloaden. Wollte es eigentlich auch gleich lesen, aber es hat sich jetzt erst ergeben. Ich fand die Geschichte süß und locker für zwischendurch. Mein persönliches Highlight sind jedoch immer die alten Hauptcharaktere. Über die freue ich mich jedes Mal. Daher lege ich mir die E-Books alle zu. Im August erscheint wieder eine neue Geschichte. Muss ich natürlich dann auch haben. In den Kurzgeschichten geht es hauptsächlich um die Bodyguards von Stage Dive, die nun auch die liebe finden.

I thoroughly enjoyed Closer by Kylie Scott, while it was an insta love story the characters were fantastic, the plot believable and the ending perfect for them.
Model Mae Cooper is use to be in the public eye especially after he ex-boyfriend professional NFL player cheated on her in a viral YouTube video, but when she gets a strange and hideous gift her friend Lena Ferris demands she hires a bodyguard, she just didn’t expect Ziggy Thayer.
Ziggy’s professionalism at the beginning made me adore him and I love how hard Mae tried to coax little smiles and eye crinkles out of him. There was no doubt Mae found Ziggy attractive, but she knew they had to keep it professional until well, they didn’t. There was lots of smoldering sensuality, hot looks, and holding back for most of the story but when they gave in it was both tender and sexy as hell.
Closer by Kylie Scott was enticing from start to finish and I loved it!

Mae is a good friend of Lena and lives in the same apartment building as some of the couples from the Stage Dive family. This means she lives in quite a nice place with tight security measures. When a nasty parcel is delivered for her Lena steps in and organises a bodyguard for Mae.
Mae is a successful model, with her own line of lingerie and it seems that one of her followers has become a bit obsessed with her. This turns out not to be her biggest problem though - in walks Ziggy, the delicious slab of man meat tasked with looking after her.
Holy hell, it’s like she is in her own personal version of the movie The Bodyguard and she is the lead actress. Ziggy is not unaffected by Mae, professionally he knows he can’t cross that line but when he is watching her posing in her new line a photoshoot he pretty much loses his mind.
Protection morphs into affection and he is now seeing a future he never imagined having with someone like Mae. Hell yes!
This was a fun dip back into the Stage Dive world and I hope to see more from this couple one day. This may be a novella size story but like Ziggy, it has a big package.
