Any hope i had of things getting better were quickly squashed when i started Obey.
Frankie still suffers, but keeps going back for more because of the masochist she is.
Not that she acknowledges the fact, but since the only time she can think clearly, the only time she feels alive,is when Maxim has done his thing says it all.
Maxim tries to fight the attraction between them as much as she does, but fails just as miserably.
When she finds her mother’s new “boyfriend” pawing her sister, she relocates her siblings.
To her surprise,Maxim makes sure they have a safe place to stay, without any strings attached.
When her mother’s found dead,he arranges the funeral and everything related.
And then HIS family arrives…..his grandfather, and his uncle Sevastyn.
And her assessment of Maxim shifts,again…..
He already shared some of his past with her,but those bits are so much clearer now she’s met them.
But later on,Sevastyn shows her, very painfully, that she doesn’t know half of it……and how little she means to Maxim.
Only he underestimated Maxim’s determination to make him pay for everything.
And Frankie still doesn’t understand the lenghts he’ll go to to keep her,or why….

Leaving me with another cliffhanger,so Surrender is next.

‼️SAFETY‼️
HE bought another girl home, while the heroine was staying he smelled of her, it isn't clear if her fucked her or not. The heroine was this, then the hero pushed the OW away.

Not everyone loves the same way, or solves their problems the same way, or survives the same way. Many are sweet & upfront & determined, they walk a path the most of us do, or least TRY to do. BUT, what if your past, or your current situation & even your potential future is broken, shattered, DARK or downright evil? How THEN would you love (if possible), solve your problems or attempt to survive?
Any way you can.
So it was, & continues, for Maxim (anti-H) & his Kotyonok (Frankie/Kitten, heroine) in 'Obey'.
This is a continuation of 'Submit' & 'Submit' really must be read in order to understand Maxim, Frankie, their relationship & how they've arrived where they are in it currently. Maxim & Frankie had acheived a semblence of a resolution in their relationship in 'Submit', but in 'Obey' evil & vengeful & greedy outside influences in Maxim's life & empire are searching for any weakness the terrifyingly frightening Maxim may have. And for the first time in his life, the only time in his adult life, Maxim has one: Frankie.
And if it takes shattering Frankie's heart & soul to protect her, is Maxim able to do that?
His empire means everything to him, his entire life has been building & growing it, holding on to it with brutal & lethal iciness, doing whatever it took to preserve & keep it. But even Maxim has those to whom he's responsible, who are not happy with how things have been going . . . .
Both Maxim & Frankie have been tragically broken (read book #1: SUBMIT) in vastly different but equally tragic ways. Broken to the point that only pain (given & taken) is able to allow them to 'feel' anything, to connect with their counterpart. But neither is able to articulate their feelings, although they've managed to escalate the intensity of their relationship & couplings to the point they are able to skirt at the very far edge of expressing the depth of their need, want & desire for the other.
Both Maxim & Frankie are wonderfully complex characters, & initially (in book #1), I wasn't sure I'd like EITHER of them. Maxim is a HARDCORE sadist, in the bedroom & out, OTT dominant, controlling, vicious & glacially cold emotionally. But his Kotyonok has somehow managed to become an addiction, he craves her even as he continually attempts to drive her away, terrify her away or shut her out of his life. But he keeps taking her back because no matter what he does, no matter how Frankie swears to walk away, she returns because she is as addicted to Maxim as he is to her.
Their relationship is DARK, it is brutal, it is destructive & yet NOT any of those. Why? Because it is what they both need AND want in order to calm & quiet their thoughts: rage & violence for Maxim, betrayal & exhaustion for Frankie.
I truly did love ]this continuation of Maxim & Frankie's story: the broken & the betrayed, the abused & the warped sometimes deserve their peace too, no matter who they find it with or how they consensually work to achieve it.
This story SUCKED me further into Maxim & Frankie's tragically beautiful tale, I found my emotions swirled chaotically from teary eyed to hopeful to angry to horrifed & back again. I COULD NOT STOP READING this book (or SUBMIT) until I finished it in one sitting. Yes, to me, it was THAT excellent. And no matter what happened, a mantra of please, please, PLEASE let them have a HEA together never left my mind.
So, for the reader who isn't afraid of the dark, or triggers, or brutally beautiful & dysfunctional love stories, I heartily recommend this one. It is one of the best & wonderfully twisted romances I've ever read.

A lot of this felt like filler. Being inside Frankie’s head is exhausting but I do like Maxim. He’s still the most intriguing character and finally we’re seeing the small concessions he’s making, however unnatural, for Frankie. As well as the toll he must pay. I just wish these two crazy kids would actually have a full conversation with each other.

Honestly, these two just really need to see some mental health professionals. Is it a good romance where the h truly believes the H is going to kill her any moment through the first 2 books? I don’t know. But I do want to see where this ends so...

Unparalleled Book...Outstanding 5 Stars +++
This is a phenomenal series. It will draw you in and keep you prisoner until the last page. You need to read Submit: XXX Maxim Book 1 (Club XXX) first so you know the story of Frankie and Maxim. I have no idea how an author can even come up with a storyline like this. It's brutal and heartbreaking at the same time. Two people with shattered souls, both with tortured past. I am waiting to see if they can find love or do they even know what love is. I absolutely think this is one of the best books Lana Sky has written.

What a beautiful story!
Frankie has some emotional and mental issues, she loves pain. When there is pain, she has clarity, she can think clearly. Frankie has so much responsibility for a young girl but she has never done anything for herself.
Maxim is a sadist and this is also from his upbringing.
In Maxims world there is danger and threat. And they have such a battle ahead of them.
Lana Sky writes emotionally raw and riveting stories. The reader feels all the anger and chaos in these words that Lana so painstakingly weaves in her story.

Maxim and Francesca pick up right where book 1 left off. You think maybe it will be easier for Francesca this
Many pages on but no she suffers even more brutally in this 2nd installment. She has a backbone, we see it in book 1 but she never really rises up and continues to take a lot Of crap. Things do improve for her at the very end… or do they?

“I’m cutting myself open on the remnants of his soul. And. It. Hurts. Like nothing else.”

In the second book of the trilogy, we get to know a little more about the tragic past of Maxim and more sordid details of the terrible things he had to go through. Frankie is more confused than never and seems to be reaching her breaking point im every single page. I felt her sanity disintegrating and, in spite of her denial, Maxim’s madness was what brought her back together.
It’s interesting that most people seems to like the tortured brutal hero and the heroine is just an afterthought. However, I can say that, although Maxim is a complex and interesting character, Frankie is my favorite. I am anxious to see how (or if) these two broken souls will find their HEA. I guess I’m finishing this review and starting the final book right after.

“Tell me why you’re here.”
“Because… Because I’m yours.”

Wow! This jump into Maxim and Frankie's world was explosive. Frankie learns to push back and uncovers more of Maxim. But Maxim's world comes crashing into their tentative arrangement. This installment of Maxim and Frankie's story was even better than the first! I love the way they are growing together. This story is so full of passion, pain, intrigue, loyalty, and under it all love. Can't wait for the next one!

If I thought the ride to love was somewhat close for Maxim and Frankie, I should have known better. This relationship is beyond intense. It is powerful, raw, gritty, and at times heartbreaking. That doesn't stop me from being on this journey because sweet holy hell... There is a magnetism and pull to these broken characters.

I cannot wait to see where this goes next. I need, REALLY NEED, these too to get a happy ending.

Darkly twisted and scary violently good

Maxim is an extremely complicated character. As well as Francesca.
Both molded into monsters of their own right, by their environment.

Together they will destroy each other as well as the world...question is whichever wll come first?

This book was a whirlwind of emotions compared to the first book. We finally get a peek into Maxims world, and boy does shit hit the fan. Everything was going fine until Maxim‘s grandpa comes into town. Maxim stupidly took Frankie with him to see his grandpa. His grandpa broke his ego, threatened his business, and his girl. Maxim stupidly took his anger out on her and acted like his father. He hit her threatened to kill her beat her down. “He’s the only one I didn’t expect it from not like this.” he was stuck in the past and the only person that could get him out of it was her. She finally gets him out of his frenzy. “I don’t want you to hurt me like this I don’t… I don’t want to be afraid of you.” he left her after all the things he said he hurt her. "You don't throw away the people you say you want to keep." "You told me... You said you'd never let me go." he then apologizes for his actions and acts like an idiot and tells her she’s a liability. He leaves her for days and of course she’s lost without him, Stuck with her selfish family.(I hate Daisy). He voided the contract, but he still takes care of her. She spirals without him, stuck in a house full of people that don’t really care for her and all hell breaks loose. She slaps Daisy as she should. All she thinks is of is how she’s just like her mom. he finally talks to her after she spiraled, she yells in his face, her feelings finally come out, how she’s insecure and that he threw her away like all the others. He finally expresses his feelings for her. “I gave you what you wanted more than all those fucking women combined. Fuck, the things I’ve done for you. The things I’m still doing for you. Even when it cost me more than you can imagine.” they attract each other like magnets. ”deep down we’re the same selfish twisted creatures”. Then of course shit hits the fan once again, and Maxim uncle beats Frankie and hospitalizes her. That idiot, of course, leaves and Frankie spirals out of control again and the best thing she thinks to do is become a stripper and stay away away from her family lol. And when he finally does come back, he confronts her and of course he’s been watching the whole time. He talks to her again and explained he needed time to think and reassess his priorities (AKA her) she of course, goes back to her life support. “I need you to come to me one last time. One last chance for you to decide” he’s the only person to make her better and way even she cannot. He takes her back to the place he hit her and she has to put all her trust to go back in there and lo and behold his uncle is there, beaten to a pulp. Maxim wants him to ask her for mercy, but uncle talk his shit and he just kills him. He chose her. “they are not my family.” “ he’s wrong protect you? I’ll do so much fucking more than that”. He finally offers to make her his forever. “ you give me everything. Your body. Your life. Your name… And you take mine. As a Koslov, I can protect you forever.”
And now we wait to see what she decides 😭.

Obey: XXX Maxim Book 2 (Club XXX) by Lana Sky

Francesca (Frankie) Marconi is only nineteen and oversees taking care of her six siblings. She once worked three different jobs to support her family but now she is an exclusive companion to a Russian crime lord.

Maxim Koslov is a Russian crime lord with a dark and twisted sexual appetite. He runs the western section of the city for his grandfather and a sex club called XXX where nothing is off limits.

Obey picks up where Submit leaves off and we delve deeper into the relationship between maxim and Frankie. In the first book you see Frankie struggling to keep her family afloat despite all the challenges she faces. With book two, Maxim helps her by taking some of the burden from her and giving her the financial security, she has been searching for. When his grandfather and uncle start to question his commitment to the family business, he must take a step back from her even though being with her makes his feel almost normal. He is worried that his family will see her as a weakness. When Maxim takes a step back, Frankie feels abandoned and tries to decide if she should just walk away now instead of being hurt later. When Maxims uncle makes it known he wants Frankie to play with, Maxim would have to declare war to save her. Is she worth everything he has built, would she stand by him when everything falls apart and all that is left is just Maxim?

If you thought submit was a rollercoaster ride of emotions than you haven’t read anything yet. With Obey I found myself having to stop so I could let out the breath I was holding. Just when you think you know what Lana sky will do next, she takes you in a completely different direction. She shows you what Maxim went through as a child and what makes him the man that he is today. One description of him said it best, “He’s fucking psychotic, but he doesn’t even begin to hide it.” Frankie sees the man behind the mask that he wears for everyone else. When the memories begin to take him under, she pulls him back to the present. She brings him back to her and she understands him. These two broken people help each other even if it kills them in the process.

First, you must know what you're getting into before starting this series. It is dark. It is hard to read at times. It has many scenes that could be triggers for people. It won't be for everyone. Second, to understand Frankie and Maxim's relationship and who they are, you must read Submit first. Obey picks up where Submit left off. You'll be lost if you try to start with Obey.

The story of Frankie and Maxim is heartbreakingly terrifying. Neither of these two won the parent lottery. Their childhoods were filled with pain, fear, and a lack of love/feeling loved. Both had to grow up way too quickly taking on adult roles they weren't ready for. They were easily hardened to the world, making relationships with others difficult. Finding where they felt they belonged had also been tough.

They have a f'ed up relationship. He treats her like s**t, hurting her both physically and mentally. Yet, she keeps going back to him. Both of them really had me feeling conflicted. At times, I wanted to take Frankie aside and help her find her self worth and value. Other times, I wanted to shake her silly and ask her what the he** she was thinking. Maxim was different. Most of the time I wanted to slap him, punch him, and instill the same pain on him he did on Frankie. Other times though, I wanted to take him in my arms and cradle the little boy inside who just needed to know what unconditional love was. As for their relationship, I kept going back and forth on that as well. Sometimes I wanted them to cut their losses and end it. Mostly though, I have to admit, I wanted them to find each other and find the love they both deserve. Will it happen? I am anxiously waiting for the next book to (hopefully) find out.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*

I am so invested in Frankie and Maxim’s story. When this book hit my kindle, I DEVOURED IT!! Lana Sky has served us up a sinful, lascivious, darkly entertaining story. This is erotica at its finest!! PURE ANIMALISTIC PERFECTION!

~In a twisted semblance of harmony, we create a symphony of muted agony and sadistic satisfaction.~

A tale of carnal pleasures, perverse proclivities, and self identification. Maxim and Frankie partake in an exchange of sexual pleasure derived by pain and control. Frankie continues to return to Maxim, telling herself that it’s all for the money, but she craves what only Maxim can give her. She is an addict seeking her next fix, and he is her drug.

READ THIS SERIES TODAY!! Find out what happens when Maxim nulls the contract, will Frankie stay? In a world where women mean nothing, she threatens everything he has worked for. Is she worth Maxim turning against his family and claiming her as his very own? You don’t keep anything you’re not willing to kill for.

For those of you that prefer you stories with triggers and hot animalistic sex, this would be the book! Lana Sky has become one of my automatic one click authors. I no longer need to know what the story is about, it is certain to be of epic proportions.

5* Sublime Stars!

In Submit I felt a connection to our main couple but nothing like the deep connection I had after finishing Obey.
Obey delved into their relationship on a much deeper level and it was so brilliantly written.
Raw, Emotional, and Tragic in so many ways.

I understood Francesca's battle so much better, not only with her own feelings but with the outside influences that she felt shaped her choices - her mom - her siblings - her own sense of self-worth. My heart broke for her. She wanted freedom but at what price?
And then Maxim - I think I mentioned when I was discussing him in Submit that he is emotionally stunted and has some very deep seeded anger issues. In Obey, we get to see an even darker side of him and we are granted access to the very brutal truth that created the monster he is today. Like Francesca, I can't hate him for his actions. I know I should but you have to admit he does try and Francesca is a willing participant.
Two broken souls - One perfect match

I think I commented before but just in case
-This is part of a series so yes you need to read the previous book.
-This is a romance between a Sadist and a Masochist - it is bloody and brutal - there are no apologies for who they are
-If S/m is not your thing or you do not normally play in the deep end of the dark romance genre might I suggest you not start with this series.

Rating 5/5
Plot 5/5
Spice 4/5
Character Development 5/5

“Obey: XXX Maxim” is the second book in Lana Sky’s Club XXX series. This dark romance continues the story of Frankie Marconi and Maxim Koslov. Frankie finds herself falling under Maxim’s sinful spell. As Frankie continues to face Maxim’s dangerous world, she questions if she can rely on him to help her withstand the pain. Frankie also questions if she should end this contract once and for all as she learns more and more about the harsh reality and Maxim’s personal life.

I loved Lana’s first book (Submit) and I’m continuing to love this series. I enjoyed seeing Frankie’s growth in this book and I’m hoping Maxim opens up to Frankie more and overcomes his dark past. Frankie works so hard to take care of her siblings and I appreciate how Lana writes such a strong and independent character within Frankie. One of my favourite things about Frankie is how she never backs down and just because she didn’t have a great childhood or education, that doesn't stop her from making sure her siblings are put on the right track. The cliff-hanger in this book makes me want to immediately pick up the next one and I can’t wait to continue this series! If you’re one to read trigger warnings, make sure to check those out beforehand because this book discusses extremely dark themes.

Lana Sky has created amazing characters and story line in this set of books. My heart broke in these books for these two characters who have been through such devastating childhoods. In book 1, Submit, the reader is introduced to Maxim and Francesca Marconi. We find out about the harrowing past Maxim has lived born into the Russian Mafia. The trials that Maxim has been through as a young child have defined who he is and shaped the proclivities he has today. Francesca Marconi has been responsible for her young siblings since an early age, providing support financially and emotionally as a young teen. In Obey, we learn more about Maxim and Francesca's twisted relationship. What drives Maxim to need to give such pain? Can he find his inner soul that his grandfather and uncle have tried so hard to destroy. Or, will he continue to be the ruthless monster they have taught him to be? What about Francesca? Can she find her voice? Will her demons allow her to submit to Maxim? All I can say is, this book kept me so wound up emotionally, I could hardly put it down to go to work. I could hardly wait to get home to continue reading it again. It is dark, twisted, and absolutely enthralling. The reader will not be disappointed! Be aware! It is not for the faint of heart!!

Frankie continues to go back to Maxim as their story continues and when she is home away from him, she needs him to be whole. But is she losing the "real" Frankie or does she even know who she is yet? When she shatters and falls to pieces, can Maxim be the one to put her back together? Will he enjoy her more ruined or pieced together they way he prefers?

Maxim brings Frankie with him to business meetings and soon realizes that may have been a mistake on his part. But when his grandfather and uncle see Frankie as his weakness in the business world, what will happen to Maxim and Frankie? Will they both survive?

This continues with their dark story of love, since not everyone loves the same! Maxim needs to be a sadist and Frankie enjoys it and thrives on it. But will they continue to find their own pleasures? From the outside, this is brutal and violent, but to Maxim and Frankie, it doesn't have the same meaning! I was sucked in further into their story and cannot wait for more. This has triggers, so be warned, but if that doesn't phase you, please read this. I recommend it, it is deliciously dark and twisted! I hope they finally get a HEA that is acceptable to both of them. I received an ARC of this book from the author.

One word I can think of to describe the story of Frankie and Maxim is ADDICTIVE. It's so beautifully written, the way Lana Sky illustrates the dark nature of their relationship. She delves deep into the dirty side without trying to make it more romantic or less gritty. I LOVE THAT. It is what sets this book apart from all the other 'dark romance' novels.

Frankie is not feisty, brave and heroic all the time, she has weak moments and she's pretty f*cked up but you can't help but admire her for the way she somehow manages to stand back up and DEAL WITH IT. She's been really through so much sh*t and it's really no wonder why she is how she is... but that resilience and steely determination to keep her family safe is something that truly shines through.

Maxim on the other hand... Wow. He's one of the most complex characters I've ever read about. You have to read the story to know what I'm talking about 'cause I can't explain it. But if I had 3 words to describe him it would probably be- Big. Alpha. Complicated. He's great! The most perfectly imperfect psychotic macho alpha there is ;)

Lana Sky is an underrated author who deserves more recognition and this book deserves more and more readers! Can't wait for book 3!!

Once again, I have been taken completely out of my comfort zone and loved it! This is book two of the Club XXX series and Lana Sky continues her story of Maxim and Frankie. No matter how poorly or how good she is treated, Frankie has let Maxim worm his way into her heart. Taking care of her siblings is a big plus, and she is grateful, but she still does not know if she can trust this man. He is dangerous, both in and out of the house, and doubts always creep into her mind of her worthiness. Maxim does give her a feeling of contentment and at the same time he is distant. Both of these people are broken, but together the seem to work. Then why can she not fully give herself to him? Sky has captured my interest again, and pulled me into their world. I cringe at times and others have a full heart. I can't decide how I feel except when the story is over, I know I want more. It does leave us open to hearing Surrender, and I can't wait to see where this couple takes me next.

Zara Eden continues her fantastic narration. Continuity is so important and she brings it from book to book with the same voices for these characters. I enjoy her accents, her flow and her voices. It's a great listen.

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "OBEY" XXX MAXIM" WOW!!!!! What a rollercoster ride this second book the continued story of Maxim Koslov Russian Crime Lord and Frankie Marconi with her six siblings takes you on.
Maxim was part of the Mafia growing up and he suffered along the way with pain and lack of love in his young life making the brutal sadistic man he us today.
Frankie has had a very difficult life her mom left her to look after six siblings and she can barely keep her head above water.
The relationship between her and Maxim explosive he's a sadist and control freak in and out of the bedroom but at times you see there us someone in there that just wants unconditional love.
Maxim run the Western Region for his grandfather who owns a sex club called XXX and nothing is off limits this is a very intense dark twisted romance with two broken damaged souls that come together.
Lana Sky did an excellent job writing this storyline with such mindblowing characters that drew you in turning page after page to wanting it to end I can't wait til the next book this was so well worth the read it's a must have but you need to read "SUBMIT" first. PHENOMINAL EXCELLENT READ!!!!!!!

Yikes this is dark, but oh so good, like the darkest, bittersweet chocolate that takes forever to melt in your mouth. Maxim has managed to work his way under Frankie's skin and into her soul like a drug she just can't quit. I love Frankie's quote, "Survival is not something you can ever regret" and she will do whatever she needs to survive. I love that we get more answers about Maxim's family and past which is darker than even Frankie can fathom. I don't know that I would call this a romance but more a story of obsession and addiction but it's beautifully told and makes me as a reader addicted to these characters and how their lives will continue to inter weave. Narration is incredible - Zara reads so soft and smooth as Frankie and her accent and tone / pitch change for Maxim is so good I often think this is a dual narration. Well done all the way around...can't wait to listen to book 3 - Surrender.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Although the title is Obey, this second book in the series is something besides that directive. Neither Francesca nor Maxim submit to its edict. Francesca attempts to quantify who she is with and without Max. She despises the shell she becomes without him but can't accept the creature she is with him. Maxim seemingly holds all the power, but we learn more about how he acquired that power and how it has stunted him in so many ways.

The brilliance of Lana Sky as the author is that she pulls so much of Maxim and Frankie's emotions through their skin by way of Frankie's thoughts. We see their world through her eyes and perception; but even so, we see Maxim as clear as the slab of marble that is his stoic face. It's brilliant writing! These two learn each other not by what they say but rather through body language cues. I've never before read a book that conveyed so much with such disjointed dialogue. This novel/series speaks to me.

I'm not yet sure what the message is, but I'm overwhelmed with its power, nonetheless.

Obey is the second book in Lana Sky's XXX Maxim series. Obey picks up where the story left off in Submit. It continues the dark, twisted tale of Maxim and his pet, Francesca or Kotonyok as he calls her.

Maxim is a dangerous man and Francesca knows first hand just how dangerous. Even though he tries to hide it, she has seen his true emotions come through and that scares her more than when hes completely closed off to her.

Francesca knows she should say the safe word, she should run and never look back but every time she convinces herself she will, Maxim shows up and his presence alone changes her mind. She gets lost in him, his scent, his anger, his pain, her need.

Will the contract be enough to hold them together or will Francesca finally say the safe word? Will she ever be able to walk away from Maxim? Does she even want to?

This book is dark, violent and emotional but if that's your style, it's a definite must read!

Lana Sky's works are like a heavy substance - dark, enticing and addicting in the most twisted ways. Diving back into the world of Frankie and Maxim after Submit has left me in an emotional mess beyond repair. The intensity is high in Obey, we get to explore more of the character's complexity, their unique relationship and overwhelming couldn't even begin to describe it.

I am always a fan of Lana's writing, I love her audacity in breaking the boundaries to challenge the extent of what her readers could accept. With Frankie and Maxim, she accomplished just that.

I'm sorry if it's a short review, I just couldn't process my emotions at this point.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book.
