This is number 8 in The SEALs of Chance Creek Series about 10 former SEALs who decide to build a sustainable community. There are two more to go. The formula is wearing very thin and this one is so predictable that I feel that the author is not putting in any effort to make it original in any way. I could think of several ways that this book could have been spiced up and made much more than what it turned out to be. I literally listened to this with half my brain tied behind my back.

Greg Devon drew the short straw this time around and he already knows who he is going to marry. He just has to convince her that's what she wants too. That is going to take some really fine moves because his intended is the Base Camp Reality TV Show director, tough as nails, chew em up and spit em out, take no prisoners, show no emotion director Renata Ludlow. Whaaaattt! How did this happen? Well, it comes out that Greg and Renata have a past buried in the mountains of Peru. But, get this, Renata doesn't remember him! Greg lost his heart, and she doesn't even remember him.

Ten years ago, Renata was a young documentary film producer when a natural disaster struck a small village in Peru. She became involved and took on the financial responsibility for a group of orphan girls. Every penny she has, and every career decision has been made to maximize the money she can sent to this group. With her job as director in danger she id desperate to make sure the girls won't suffer if she loses her job. Getting married is the last thing she is going to do right now, says her mind. Her heart is saying something very different.

This is book 8 in the SEALs of Chance Creek series. Our two protagonists in this one are Greg and Renata. Yep, Renata the producer of the reality show! The romance was really good. Loved their back stories and the conflict that arises in this book definitely sets up the last two books. I also liked that this book acknowledges that the show has definitely derailed some of the original intentions of the characters in the first four books.

Lots of baby announcements in this one and with two bachelors left to go(Angus and Walker), I cannot wait to see what happens next.

While the storyline and the premise may be out of left field, I love how Cora can take you into another world. In book 8 we’re back with the men and women from base camp and waiting for a another wedding.

Greg knew immediately who he wanted to wed but it took Reneta a while before she admitted she liked him. Despite the chemistry between them it took her a while to admit that she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him.

They both carried secrets that neither was willing to share until push came to shove. I wanted to shake them both a few times but I understood why they kept their emotions and secrets close to their vest.

The last few chapters we’re definitely a shock! I liked the little twists and turns that were part of this story. I’m excited and can’t wait to sets what the last two books of this series has in store for us.

A Seals Desire is book 8 in the Seals of Chance Creek series. As always Cora Seton once again hits it out of the ballpark, for me this was one of my favorites in the series. Renata is such a strong woman, and determined to meet the obligation that she made many years ago even at the expense of her own happiness. All of the extended characters feel almost like family we have been reading about them for so long. Things may not always be as they seem, I most definitely would recommend this books to my friends.

ARC for honest review with no compensation

A Seal’s Desire is book 8 in the SEAL’s of Chance Creek by Cora Seton.

Up next to marry in the reality show Base Camp is former Navy Seal Greg Devon, who has already picked out his bride...a woman he met 10 years prior while in Peru during a natural disaster, she was doing a documentary on an all girls school and is now the film director for the show...Renata.

Renata doesn’t remember him from their short time together in Peru but she made a promise to funds the education for girls and put her life on hold til all the girls have graduated and turns Greg down when he make a bold announcement that he wants to marry her!

Can Greg convince Renata they belong together and he will help with the girls or will she push him away even though she knows he is the man of her dreams, and force him to marry a backup bride to keep Base Camp from folding ??

Just when I think I need an update on Base Camp, Cora Seton releases another book. In SEAL's Desire we finally get to see why Reneta is so determined and why Greg is willing to fight for her.

Wonderful romance about a hard headed, independent woman and a love struck SEAL. We are all a product of our past, and this story really brings that home. Wonderful characters and dialogue and an unusual variation on the series’ plot.

I borrowed A SEAL's Desire from the Kindle Unlimited program to read.

The series SEALs of Chance Creek is one of my favorite and I am so glad I decided to read them in order. Book number eight is the story of Devon and Renata, the English director. Like all the others in the series this couple has to find a way to understand each other and meet the needs of their partner. Devon is super romantic, full of hope and Renata doesn't even remember when they met the first time ten years ago and he saw the real and giving person behind her business personality. I loved this story and will keep reading the series to the end.

A SEAL’s Desire: SEALS of Chance Creek Book 8 is by Cora Seton. The Base Camp at Chance Creek is down to three men and one woman not married. The year of their being filmed is almost to an end. If they do not make it to where all are married and living in their own homes and three of the women are pregnant, they will lose the ranch and a developer will come in and claim the land for a housing development. This would be a tragedy for the men and women here at Base Camp; but it would be especially hard on Riley and Boone. After all, it was her family’s land that the ranch was on and had been in her family for many years. It was Boone’s dream to create a self- sustaining community so a lot is at stake.
It is now Greg Devon’s turn to get married. He had lived in a commune with his family until he was grown. Then it was off to college and traveling for him. He was in Peru when there was a tragic mudslide that destroyed a village and he helped dig it out. Just after the mudslide hit, a bus load of girls arrived anxious to meet their families there. They had been on a field trip and had just gotten back. The bus also included a film team who was documenting the girls and their achievements. It was Renata, the director of the team, who had to tell the girls the awful news and she stayed to help them find their families if possible. The leaders of the school were able to find a place for the school to rebuild and took the girls in to live there. Renata was unable to stay but promised financial support until the girls were able to fend for themselves. She took this promise seriously. Greg fell in love with Renata on that horrific day but had to leave before he was able to even be formally introduced to her. However, she changed his life with her devotion to the girls, although he didn’t know of her financial promise.
He joined the military and became a SEAL. When he got out, he ended up at Base Camp where he began helping Boone and the others build the community. He also joined the camp because he learned Renata was the director and he wanted to get to know her. She didn’t recognize him. When it came his turn to marry, Fulson, the billionaire behind the TV show, hired another director to work with Renata. Clem did not work well with her at all and pushed until it looked like Renata was going to be replaced. In order to not let that happen, Greg spoke up and said she couldn’t leave the show because she was going to marry him. This puts everyone on the spot. Can he really mean this? Would Renata agree just so the show could go on? Is Clem there to destroy the show?

This is an OK romance, and I mostly liked Greg and Renata -- but it irritated me that she kept so many secrets from him. This book gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.

It really bothered me that Renata kept so many secrets from Greg. I get that she couldn't tell him everything at first, but after they fell in love -- she really needed to start sharing. I won't give spoilers, but there was so much angst because of her secrets, and there really didn't need to be. It really bothers me when authors do this, as it seems they are doing it just to add unnecessary angst.

I also thought the competition between Renata and Clem (the other reality show director) was a bit ridiculous. I get that she needed the money, but it just wasn't believable that Clem (and their boss) would have let her get it that way. It was probably added just to make Renata's boss seem more likable -- and like he had a heart -- but I just didn't buy it.

One problem I have with all of this author's series is that there is so long between books. Lots of times I have to go back and reread some of the earlier books in a series, simply because it has been so long that I don't remember all the characters. That is frustrating, and I wish the books in a series could be published closer together.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

War of Hearts!!!

After Anders and Eve's wedding ( A SEAL'S DEVOTION ). Now it was Greg Devon's turn to tie the knot. Ten years ago while in Peru, he'd witnessed the aftermath of a mudslide that wiped out an entire village. He met Renata Ludlow there, he had slowly fallen in love with her then she left and he never thought he would ever see her again.

Years passed, life went on and then one day, he found out that the woman he loved was put in charge of a base Camp. He jumped at a chance to be on the show. He had to find a bride in 40 days or else all what he and his friends worked for will be lost.

Renata Ludlow was giving an opportunity of a lifetime to help some young women she met years ago. Now with the last girls close to graduating, she didn't want to do anything to harm them or their chances at a wonderful life. She would do anything even if it meant she would participate on the show she was in charge of.

Greg had his work cut out for him when it came to convincing her to them a try. She finally found someone that loved her for who she is and she was afraid to take that leap. It's a good thing, he was a persistent man.

Loved Angus' advice to Greg, the latter got the woman of his dreams...And his beloved won double, she got him and she achieved her longtime goal. Even though someone was still out to sabotage what they all have been working hard towards at Base Camp. Seeing Renata and Greg along with the rest of the couples happy was a delightful treat.

A SEAL'S DESIRE is the eighth installment in Cora Seton's SEAL'S OF CHANCE CREEK series. Oh my! Renata and Greg's journey was intense, heartbreaking, romantic, and oh so irresistible. I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. Fantastic job by Cora Seton. Give this book a try, you guys won't regret it! 5++++

An incredible addition to the seal's of Chance Creek series, it was so wonderful to finally learn more about Renata Ludlow and what makes her such a driven woman.

With one issue after another it seems someone is still out to sabotage Base Camp, the sustainable community that began with 10 ex Navy SEAL's and several women who want to make a difference in the world. Renata Ludlow has been director of the reality show filming the group that are on a strict time line for all 10 SEAL's to be married and at least 3 wives must be expecting or delivered babies or they will lose the land and all they have accomplished so far. With seven of the men now happily married and living in their tiny homes and one baby on the way it is now Greg's turn and he has just 45 days to find a bride. But Greg has always had his eye on their director, the woman many in their small community barely tolerate. And Greg has a past with the smart and ridged woman, one it seems she doesn't even remember.

Renata fears her days as director are numbered when millionaire Martin Folsum brings in an assistant director that is willing to do anything at any cost to drive up viewership of their show. Renata knows it is now Greg's turn to find a wife and although she has growing feelings for the man she has a secret she has kept from everyone that could keep her from following her heart. Then, one surprise after another only sets Renata more on edge, thinking about her own future and the sudden changes she realizes she wants in her life. But Renata's secrets may drive a wedge between her and Greg before love has a chance. Will Renata spend all her time trying to pay an old debt at the detriment of her own happiness?

ARC in exchange of a honest review.

A group of retired navy Seals decide to build an environmentally sustainable community. To gather the money necessary they accept to participate in a reality television show funded by Fulsom, an eccentric billionaire.. The men have to marry, within a year and produce at least three children . To decide whose turn it is to be married, they draw straws.
They share the land with a group of women who manage a Regency themed
B&B.

This is the story of Greg and the Renata, the serious and committed director of the reality.
Greg an Renata met ten years before in Peru when a mudslide wiped out most of a village. Greg, a college student, were helping the survivors. Renata was filming a trip of a group of excellence students. She then spent the day with Greg looking for the girls parents.

We learn that Renata, a foster kid since she was 6 years old, committed to pay the Peruvian girls high school tuition working very hard and putting her life on hold for the last ten years.
She doesn’t remember Greg from Peru, ignoring the he fell in love with her back then.

I don’t want to spoil the story so I’ll just say that I loved it,
Another good book in a good series.

A SEAL’S DESIRE
By Cora Seton

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great book in the Chance Creek Series - A SEAL’S DESIRE by
Cora Seton. She has a way of writing that keeps you turning the pages for more.
Another Base Camp wedding down now it’s time to see who will be next to get married. Greg Devon drew the short straw so he now has 45 days to find a wife and get married or they will lose Base Camp. Greg already knows who he wants to marry, all he has to do is convince her - Renata the director for the Base Camp Reality Show.
Greg met Renata ten years ago in Peru after a natural disaster, but she doesn’t remember him. He has to get her to fall in love with him but she is to busy trying to save her job as director of the show. She is also trying to keep a promise she made ten years ago. She is too proud to ask for help and her time is running out.
There are twist and turns every time they turn around. Someone is trying to destroy the show. Things are starting to pile up against Base Camp.
Will Greg be able to convince Renata to trust him with her secret?
Who is trying to bring down Base Camp?
Cora Seton has a way to keep you on the edge of your seat. I love this series, I can’t wait for the next book. Thank you Cora for writing such a great series.

Looking to the Future, by Overcoming the Past

Greg Devon is the next bachelor who must marry in 40 days to protect Base Camp. Renata Ludlow is the director of the reality TV show about Base Camp. Greg has loved Renata for 10 years. Their history goes back to a crisis in Peru, when they were both young and idealistic. Now that they are together at Base Camp, Greg is determined to win over Renata to be his wife. But their history, stands in their way, even if Greg doesn't yet know it. This is a story of a second chance at love, a chance at happiness, but with outside, annoying interference from those who, seemingly, want to prevent a happy ending. In fact, there are dangerous, suspicious actions threatening Base Camp and those living there. This story reflects how your past can color your present. Renata must overcome her inability to trust, and Greg must trust her enough to let her overcome her past. With help from their friends, this couple strive to be together. The consequences of their story seriously impact those of the remaining two bachelors. This is an excellent book in its own right and a great stepping stone for the next two stories, which I can't wait to read.

Renata and Greg have a history, one she doesn't realize. She gets the feeling she knows him from somewhere but can't place him.

Greg has been a little in love with Renata since he met her long ago in Peru, The efforts she made when the children she brought home for a surprise reunion instead found death and destruction of their homes was an inspiration to him. He found himself caring for her then, and she was the main reason he signed up for the show.

This book also opens with the birth of Jericho and Savannah's baby. It's while he and Renata are in to see the little one that Clem and Fulson burst in. Fulson has also decided that Renata isn't needed a Base Camp.

That caused Greg to announce she's the one he's going to marry, chaos ensues. She can't marry him, she needs to finish paying for the last few girls education. She'd promised them and wouldn't let them down.

There are several interesting twists in this book and I think my favorite is the way Renata gets to Clem challenging him and making some pretty crazy bets.

While Greg gets worried about what seems to be a compulsion with her, he and the others also enjoy her getting Clems goat.

I laughed a lot in this book and cried too. This series is winding to its finish and I really don't think I want it to end.

The situation, the eco homes, ex military, tv show, Jane Austen, commitment to marry when you draw the short straw is somewhat bizarre.
I think if it was just the ex military eco home, tv show, commitment to marry when you draw the short straw I would be fine with it, the Jane Austen thing I find a bit wierd, but it means the women are tied there too so I just go with it.

No cheating.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
Series to be read in order. Couple per book but main story line thread runs through series.
In a way it's a second chance romance as the Hero and heroine have met before though the heroine doesn't remember him.
There are breadcrumbs dropped for future books in series as two men remain, the book ends with the next man drawing his straw and his situation set up.
Previous couples from series feature.
Best to read series in order as the couples relationships built and develop as the series progresses.
The story is quite sweet. The Hero is besotted.
The heroine pushes away for a time due to her situation.

HEA. As in their relationship will continue in the next books in the series.

Book #8 of SEALs of Chance Creek and Cora has hit another grand slam!

Who would have thought there was a past connection between Greg Devon and Renata Ludlow.
Renata didn't give Greg a second look back in Peru but he had never forgotten her and when he found out she was in charge of filming a reality show called Base Camp he jumped at the chance to join that group.

Renata Ludlow still had ties to the disaster in Peru where she and Greg first met but it wasn't him, it was however the young girls that arrived back home from a school to find their entire village had been wiped out and they were left with no families. Renata had seen to it that those 21 girls still had their chance at an education. She had 3 left then she could relax and start putting away money for her future.

It's Greg's turn to take a bride and when Renata asked him if he had someone in mind his answer was "Yes, and you'd be surprised who she is"
Greg had his work cut out for him and only 40 days to get the deed done. Renata was afraid to take the leap of faith but Greg had enough faith for both of them.

I think this was my favorite book of all. Grab yourself a copy and see if you don't agree.

Oh my! I have only found a handful of authors that I absolutely love to read their work, that I wait patiently for the next book, and crave for more from, and Cora Seton is certainly one of those few. I have read almost every one of her books based in Chance Creek, from every separate series, even though they connect together in one form or another, and I don't think I will ever get enough of them. Her ability to bring her characters to life and make you feel like you live among them, is incredible. Her stories always bring a certain level of intensity and depth to the table, keeping you on edge and craving more.
In this episode, we finally get to Greg, and his hidden connection to Renata, the infamous director. Will they manage to overcome their own personal demons in order to find their own place together at Base Camp? Or will the obstacles prove to be too many and too much?
An awesome read you won't want to miss.
I was gifted a copy of this book and am voluntarily giving my honest opinion.

This was one intense read!

There is not the action, like some other series I read, but things are getting very intense for Base Camp. Greg, Angus and Walker are the last three who need to get married. Greg's turn has come up. He has been in love with Renata for 10 years. This is his chance. But Clem is going to do all he can to make things difficult. Can they work their way through all the problems, or is this the end for Base Camp? There are a ton of twists and turns in this story, including two major ones right at the end. The surprises keep you in edge for the whole thing. You won't want to put it down.

The pace is fast, but not breakneck. The tone as I mentioned before is intense, and the storyline is character oriented with some steamy scenes. The action is not caused by the normal issues we typically see, but it adds to the tension! The characters are vibrant and complex. I can't wait to see what the final two stories bring us. Read these in order. You will be hooked and waiting like the rest of us! Enjoy!

Ten years ago when Navy SEAL Greg Devon first saw the young British documentary film director, Renata Ludlow, his heart was captured. So when he finds out she will be in charge of putting together the reality television show, Base Camp, he jumps at the chance to participate. But part of joining Base Camp means he has forty days to find a woman and marry her or the sustainable community will be disbanded. He has memory of Renata, but she has no recollection him. Greg has made it clear that he plans to Renata.

Renata made a promise ten years ago to take on the financial responsibility for a school full of girls. That was her sole reason for taking on this job. If she wants to uphold these obligations she cannot marry Greg, even if she wants to.

With the deadline getting closer Greg keeps hoping that there is some way he can convince Renata be his bride. Will Renata take a chance and share her reasons with Greg on why she is resisting marriage to him?

Greg and Renata did a dance around each other for so long, him realizing he's always had feelings for her and her not recognizing what she had standing right in front of her. Watching a story unfold that began 10 years earlier was such a pleasure. There were moments I wanted to shake each of them (especially her) and tell them that they were doing all of this the hard way. And that plot twist was superb! Bravo, Ms Seton. I did not see that coming.

I love watching each of these SEALs discover that through their wish to bring to light how sustainable living can change the world not only find their jobs fulfilling but find the women they never knew they might need to accomplish their goals. The stories are sweet, and the author has such a way of taking us to that small town of Chance Creek.

A SEAL’s Desire continues the story of Base Camp and it’s inhabitants. We got a sneak peek of it in the last book in the series so we knew Renata and Greg had let before. What we didn’t know is how profoundly the events around their first meeting affected Renata. Suddenly, she doesn’t seem like the hardened tv director we thought we knew.

I enjoyed the story and getting to know both of the characters better. Renata’s character in particular had a lot of depth. The story was fast-paced and exciting with just enough suspense and intrigue (and of course, romance). I also really enjoy the sneak peek at the end for the next book. Can’t wait for it.

I did receive an ARC but all opinions are my own.

I highly recommend A SEAL’s Desire!

Its time to catch up with life in Chance Creek where we find tension, sabotage and secrets about to threaten the survival of Base Camp. Greg has drawn the short straw and must marry in 40 days. Renata, a woman he met briefly years ago, is his choice of bride but convincing her will be a challenge. Whilst he knew then she was the one, she was in shock and forgot they had ever met before. Renata has a strong attraction to Greg, but her past has shaped her life. If she is going to have a life with Greg she must find a way to manage the issues in her past. I was so excited to get Greg and Renata’s story. It captured my heart, but be warned, this was a gripping, emotional, heartbreaking, heart stopping read that I will not forget in a hurry.

A SEAL's Desire by Cora Seton tells the next story of Base Camp and the inahbitants, yay sign me up. A SEAL's Desire is book eight in her SEALS of Chance Creek and I simply can't get enough of the stories. Because now it's Greg and Renata's turn.
Greg Devon is an ex-Navy SEAL and years ago he lost his heart to an young travel journalist and documenter. They're though a lot together and now he meets her again. Only they can't go bavk to yesterday. The battered hero and the hardened woman.
Renata Ludlow is now amanger of a reality tv-show and part of the cast is Greg. And he's up next to marry.
A SEAL's Desire is an excellent written and beautifully thought out and beautifully told story. I loved the characters and their story kept me on the edge of my seat. 4,5 Stars.

With every new book in this series, we get more insight into the motivations and back stories of all the characters, not just the two on which each book focuses, and this book is no exception. The story this time of Greg and Renata – yes, the Base Camp show director – is a story of integrity and honor, and it’s an eye-opening view on the lengths people will go to to achieve their aims as well. It’s full of surprises – even for a Base Camp veteran like me – and, in my opinion, it’s the best in the series so far. There’s a fun intersection with the Halls too, and this really is a must-read for all Cora Seton fans. I’ve already re-read it.

I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.

Another good read from Cora Seton.
In this we find out more about Renata and also see a softer side of her.
From being the director of the programme, she becomes one of the stars, and finds out what it's like in front of the camera.
Greg had fallen for Renata 10 years ago but she didn't even notice him. Now he has a chance to remedy that, except Renata can't afford to think about her own life and certainly not a husband.
We meet all the usual characters who are still striving to reach their goal, and Clem who is still trying to disrupt them. Clem is portrayed very well by the author, as a slimey, cringeworthy character. He makes me what to shudder !
I enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next.

As unusual as the premise of this series is, I must say that I really look forward to each installment. Each member of Base Camp, must marry over the course of one year in order for the reality show producers to allow the sustainable community to continue to exist. That means that within 40 days, Greg must marry. Lucky for him, he knows exactly who he wants as his bride, Renata, the show's director. Too bad she isn't ready to marry anyone yet. But can she stand by and watch Greg marry someone else?
This was a great entry in the series and I really enjoyed getting to know Renata considering how she seemed in the earlier books. There was definitely more to her character than I ever expected. Can't wait to see what's next for Base Camp!

I loved this book and this series. This book is about Greg and Renata. They met in a horrible place and time during a nature disaster. Renata doesn't remember Greg but he remembers her.

When Greg draws the short straw he knows who he wants but Renata is the shows director and she is unavailable to marry Greg. But he knows that they belong together. He saw her when she was directing people to help twenty three young girls when their parents all died.

Renata is leaning towards Greg's wants but she has a promise to keep and she can't indebt Greg like she has herself. She has promised to get all twenty three girls through all their grades and then college. She has a debt that wouldn't be fair to share.
