Pumpkin. The smell. The spice in my latte. The pie that’s synonymous with my favorite holiday. Thanksgiving holds memories of family and togetherness. So when a storm cancels my travel plans, my roommate takes pity on me and I find myself sharing the holiday across the table from my greatest crush—her older brother.

Finlay Ross. He was a senior in high school when I was still in pig tails. Popular, the star quarterback, he was the first boy I got a stomach flip over, and the only guy I’ve ever wanted. Pity a curvy girl like me would never be on his radar. He probably doesn’t even know I exist.

So why does he keep looking at me like he’s starving and I’m the feast?

This could turn out to be a thanksgiving I’ll never forget.

Warning: this quick read contains over-the-top declarations, insta-love and molten hot moments between a curvy girl and a dirty-talking alpha who wants nothing more than a sweet little piece of pumpkin pie.

Each Megan Wade story carries her 'Sugar Promise' of Over the Top Romance, Alpha Heroes, Curvy Heroines, Low Drama, High Heat and a Guaranteed Happily Ever After. What could be better than that?

A very short read where things occur very fast and feelings and actions are OTT.

Petra is upset when she is stranded in Boston and not able to get to Florida to be with her family on Thanksgiving, getting ready to spend the day alone, she is forced by her best-friend Claire to come home with her, to spend to Thanksgivings with Claire and her big brother - Fin, a man Petra has crushed on for years. Fin has wanted Petra for me years than he would care to admit, and this Thanksgiving his control finally snaps - he can no longer can keep away.

Honestly a meh read, I enjoyed the one I read prior to this, but this little morsel I couldn't really get into and somethings had me rolling my eyes a little.

¿A ella?

No me gustó.

Re-read? Maybe

"I figure I’ll either get over him one day and find someone more in my league, or I’ll pine forever and just get really great at talking to cats. I think I’d make a great crazy cat lady."

A super fun, quick read. A curvy girl and her best friends much older brother. So many fun tropes! It was also nice and steamy. If you're looking for a hot, quick read this is the one for you.

When I read the blurb I thought this book was written just for me. I LOVE a good, smutty novella, and the “I’m in love with my best friend’s brother/sister” trope is probably my favorite, add in a curvy heroine and an alpha hero and I couldn’t be happier. Then I started reading and immediately started seeing red flags.

Look, I love an age gap romance, I even enjoy some taboo tropes, but one thing I can’t get behind is grown men lusting after teenagers, and that’s what we have with this book. Yes when it starts she is 19, but in his POV chapters he specifically thinks about how he lusted after her when she was 16/17 and he was THIRTY!!!!! He was happy to take a job 1,400 miles away from her, in order to avoid the “temptation” of her!! I am 30 years old as of reading this, and I’m sorry there is NOTHING tempting about teenagers, they look like CHILDREN, and that’s because they ARE! Once they hook up he even tells her he has been “in love” with her since she was a teenager, and how he had been waiting years to fuck her... I’m sorry, he doesn’t get props for waiting for her to be legal, when he was lusting after her when she was still a teenager.

ALSO, he convinces her to let him fuck her WITHOUT A CONDOM OR ANY FORM OF BIRTH CONTROL!!!! Just because you’ve “always used a condom” doesn’t mean your clean. And if he actually “loved” her, he wouldn’t risk getting her pregnant when she is 19 and a FRESHMAN in college. Honestly I DNF at 60% (right after the no condom thing) so I don’t know if it ends with her pregnant, but considering he clearly thinks about his “seed” in her “virgin womb” I feel like that’s where it was going, and I just couldn’t go there.

I get why people like this novella, outside of the issues I addressed; it’s cute, the sex scenes are hot (again if you ignore the creepy parts), and it’s well written, but I can’t ignore the problematic bits. Had she shown up for Thanksgiving and he said “wow you’ve grown up, I’m attracted to you now” I would have LOVED this, but that’s not what we got.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

PS. I don’t like the whole “I’m chubby and never get hit on, until ONE guy finally finds me attractive and now we are in love” thing. Chubby girls are HOT, and tons of guys like chubby girls, I would know, I’m one of them!! So when she started this book by saying no guy has ever hit on her I had to roll my eyes. How I managed to get SO worked up over a novella, I have no idea!!

If your looking for a sweet read this is the book

MEGAAAAAAAAAANNNN!! has been my favorite novella author her stories are about curvy gals (AND ON COVERS!!) Getting theirs and i loveee it!!!

Petra has been harboring a crush on her best friends brother for well long enough lol missing Thanksgiving with her family Her bestie drags her home with her to have thanksgiving with her and her brother Finlay. Both are sorta awkward around eachother since Finlay has been wanting Petra since she was 17 but never acted on it since 1. Age and 2. Sisters best friend.

But that gets tossed out the window when they are officially alone.. dirty dirty on the couch never felt good lol until someone comes home and sorta ruins the moment.

No ow/om drama, no cheating, slighty secondary chara, sexy times, virgin gal and no manwhore

Pumpkin is a Thanksgiving novella with a plus sized heroine and her best friend’s brother as the hero! The heroine can’t make it back home for thanksgiving because of the weather. So when her best friend/college roommate overhears her flight got canceled, she invites her to spend the holiday with her and her older brother. Her best friend’s older brother has been her crush since forever and he’s secretly been into her as well, although he’s never made a move since she’s his sister’s best friend and “off limits”. This is a super short novella on KU (65ish pages) and has age gap (she’s 19, he’s 32).

This moves very fast, it’s short and super insta-love, but they’ve been in one another’s lives for years so we are supposed to just believe their connection I suppose. Moves super fast, like they’re talking marriage and babies while first getting together. There is some Thanksgiving baking happening as well.

I needed a short steamy book so I figured I go back to this series and gives it another chance.
I hate when the hero refers to his woman by using bad words and Fin did exactly that in the beginning and I immediately stopped liking this book. Also, I'm not a fan of age gap trope.

Ok

This was just an ok story of a college coed who has been in love with her best friend's much older brother. She is snowed in for Thanksgiving and cannot go home to her family and ends up at her friend's house. As it turns out the older brother has been obsessed with his little sister's best friend.

He loves her and her pumpkin pie

Megan can definitely bake a pumpkin pie and she can also bring Finlay, aka Fin, to his knees.
Megan is nineteen years old and is stranded at college in Boston for Thanksgiving because of storms. She ends up going with her best friend and roommate, Claire, to her older brother Fin's apartment for the holidays. Claire and Megan grew up together until Claire and Fin moved from Florida to Boston a couple of years ago.
Megan has had a crush on Fin for years. He is the only man that she thinks about, dreams about and has saved herself for. What she doesn't know is that Fin has been in love with her for the last couple of years, since she was seventeen, and that is one of the reasons why he and Claire moved. Being thirty-two years old Fin realized that he needed to put some distance between them because he was having very wrong thoughts about his young sister's best friend.
This Thanksgiving Megan and Fin may both end up with other things to be thankful for once the storm hits and the lights go out. After all you do need a way to keep warm!!!

I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

Well, that was wildly 'meh'. Not that it was bad, mind you, but after reading three of Megan Wade's books prior to this and falling in love with her writing, I'm just disappointed.

The story started off just fine, and the MC's had chemistry aplenty, but it felt like Petra and Finlay had gotten together just a bit too soon. Maybe it's just me, but I could've done with a bit more build-up of the sexual tension. Also, I hate that a big to-do was made about Petra's v-card. I mean, I would've been fine had Finlay been touched that she'd essentially saved herself for him, but instead, he's actually turned on and decides to "reward" her for being a good girl (ugh, spare me!). As for the boning itself, it was kinda generic, and Finlay didn't seem to even last very long. Meanwhile, I felt the dirty talk was adequate, though it did veer a bit into BDSM territory, which I felt was strange considering Petra's virginal status. (Side note: those adverse to the 'c' word should probably steer clear of this book.)

Bottom line, I just didn't enjoy this as much as I was hoping. The story had so much potential, and I know the writer can do better.

Overall Verdict: 4 pumpkin pies out of 10

This was a great little thanksgiving read.

Petra moves to Boston to go to college and be with her best friend Claire after she moved away, she was meant to be going home to see her family but a snow storm stops all flights. Faced with spending Thanksgiving alone watching Netflix there was no way that Claire was letting her do that. So she finds herself spending the holiday with Claire and the man she’s loved since she was a little girl Fin, and the way he’s looking at her could he want her too or is it all in her head? Could her friendship with Claire survive this love?

Fin has been in love with Petra since she was seventeen years old but with her being his sisters best friend she has always been off limits. But when she arrives he knows that this time he needs to make his move. Will she want him or will she push him away? One thing he knows is he has to try.

Cute read, with a great holiday vibe. 3.7 🌟

Rep: Fat heroine

TW/CW: Internalized fatphobia

This was just horrible in every way. Besides the bad writing and awful characters, and a plot rooted in internalized misogyny and double standards, it’s probably best to just not write... this:

“With my eyes on his, I take a long slow lick right over that swollen head. It’s salty, like I just ate a fresh oyster from the sea.” 🤢

But if you don’t mind cringy and atrocious sex scenes, as well as a couple non-sex scenes that will give you second hand embarrassment from how uncomfortable they are, then give this a shot since it’s very short and quick to get through.

this was a great little holiday read gathering around thanksgiving. petra was stuck away from home as the weather became worse. offering to spending the holiday with her best friend and her brother, petra tried to get out of it. crushing on fin for years would make the weekend worse. when fin finds out the woman of his dreams is spending the holidays with him and his sister, Claire. he doesn't know how he will be able to keep his hands off of petra. a steamy insta love romance which makes everyone thankful.

Sweet and steamy. Fun. Thanksgiving goodness. But I had issues. One major one to be exact. Despite Petra finally hooking up with her long time crush, aka her best friend’s brother Finn, she admits she’s not on birth control. Finn’s remark is “good” which drove me bat shit. The book lost a big fat star for that. Otherwise I appreciated that the heroine wasn’t the typical perfect figured beauty we always read about. Finn was alpha, but his affection and respect win me over. So much so that I’m now signed up for Megan Wade’s newsletters. Now go make pumpkin pie.

Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read.

Finlay knows Petra because she is his sister, Claire’s best friend, but she is thirteen years younger than him. Claire invites Petra to their Thanksgiving because she can’t make it back Florida to be with her parents. Finlay raised Claire because their parents were in a car accident, he moved them from Florida to Boston, to get away from everything. Both Finlay and Petra have liked each other but doesn’t want the other to know. She agrees to make the pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. Finlay asks her to check to make sure they have everything for the pie. When she tells him she needs a few things he takes her to the grocery store. Claire heads out to go to her boyfriends. Finley tells Petra lets go he’s not going to hurt her and she whispers what if I want you to. When he questions her she tells him in a good way. Claire interrupts them and pulls them away from each other. They all hurry out because there is a storm coming in. As they walk to the store she tells him she didn’t mean anything by what she said to him. He asks her if she knew what he wanted to do when she told him that. He pulls her in close and kisses her. They stand on the sidewalk with snow and people walking by them and kiss. When he pulls away he asks her if she is ok. She asks him if he’ll do it again. They get back to his apartment and see that Claire isn’t back yet. She ask him now what and he tells her he’s going to make her his. Then carries her to the couch and goes to his knees in front of her. He trails kisses down her neck and then pleasure her. When he stands up she tells him she never done any of this before, she a virgin, he tells her good, she saved herself for him. He tells her he wants nothing between them and takes her as his. He tells her he loves her and she begins to cry. Claire told her never to believe a man what he says when he’s inside you. When she tells him she should say that now he tells her he’ll tell her later also. They shower and head to the kitchen to make pies and eat. Finley hasn’t hear from Claire so he check his phone and sees he missed several messages from her. He calls Claire and finds out she is stuck at her boyfriends. After Petra gets a pie in the oven he tells her the wants to do this every year with her and she is his now. He makes her a sandwich and when they sit to eat the power goes out. He lights a candle and they talk, she tells him she wants to pleasure him. So he tells her to go to her knees, he then tells her to stop and pulls her up. He wants to be inside her when he comes. As soon as he sinks into her they hear a scream. They dress quickly and realize it was Claire. Petra is horrified to find Claire and her boyfriend standing there. Claire leaves and Finley follows behind her. Petra grabs her things and heads to the bathroom. When Finley catches up to Claire he tells her he loves Petra and has for a while now. The siblings talk and work things out. They head back to the apartment and Claire finds Petra in the bathroom. She tells her she is sorry for how she reacted. They are family now, Claire is pregnant and is scared. Eight years later, Petra needs to get the pie in the oven but Finley has other ideas. Married for seven years now, and four kids, two boys and two girls, they still enjoy each other.

1.5-2 Stars - I can't really recommend this one. :(

Yet again, I don't know how to rate this one. On the plus side (har), this book was better and less problematic than Marshmallow (I think). Because the characters already know each other, it seems less strange when they get together and everything is so intense. I thought that the Thanksgiving plot was cute, and that there was a lot less in the way of body issues in this one. (they were not non-existent, but it was better). There wasn't a ton of insecurity, she wasn't only thinking about herself in terms of what he thought, etc. HOWEVER: there were still some problems here for me. There is a thirteen year age gap between them and she is NINETEEN. He noticed he had feelings for her when she was SEVENTEEN, and moved away to keep his distance. He tried to never be around when she was to avoid what he felt was inappropriate feelings. Is this good or bad? He tried not to act on it, and didn't until she was 19... but it still feels creepy. It does feel a lot less creepy than the other book though. Like with Marshmallow, she doesn't have any sexual or dating experience, which makes it a little bit creepier. But I do understand that she liked him the whole time... which is something that wasn't surprising to me. Preteen girls often have crushes on friends' older brothers. Again, the "I must get you pregnant immediately" thing is so confusing and weird to me. Why? Is this a kink? At least they had a tiny convo about it this time. The epilogue was cute, and overall this one was less problematic than the last. I don't have issues with age gaps, more just the combo of all of these things made it problematic. Yet again, I am thinking I might read the next book because they are so short and I want them to be good... but the problematic issues seem to be a common theme... so... I am not going to read anymore. I tried. I was hoping for a great body positive series. This just isn't it.

This is a very short, very OTT novella and should only be read if you are looking for a super cute insta love, little romance. The story is actually pretty adorable, Petra is roommates with her college best friend Claire and normally Petra would be travelling to see her family for the Thanksgiving holiday but because a snowstorm rolled in, Petra is unable to head home for the holidays so Clair invites her to her older brother Fin's house where she's going for the holidays. Petra is reluctant to go because she has had a crush on Fin for years and she becomes a hot mess whenever she is around Fin, barely able to speak two words to him. Once they arrive at her brother's house, Petra is super shy around Fin and doesn't know that he has actually been attracted to her for a lot longer than he would probably like to admit, given their age difference. Fin finds his control really tested whenever Petra is around and wants her so badly, never being in a relationship with anyone since he fell in love with her. Claire winds up needing to leave the two alone to go and deal with an issue over at her boyfriend's house and while Claire is away Fin and Petra finally sort out and give in to their feelings when they realize that they are both insanely attracted to each other. Of course there is an oops moment where they are messing around in the kitchen and Claire and her boyfriend walk in and catch them, Petra is mortified and grabs her clothes and locks herself in the bathroom thinking that Claire finds her disgusting because of what she said when she caught them and Fin has to race outside in the storm after his sister and explain that he is in love and it's not just messing around. Eventually everybody calms down, apologizes and they have Thanksgiving dinner and everyone gets a sweet HEA with a great epilogue. I will read this book again, it's perfect for inbetween heavier reads 😍

Friends to Lovers

I’m so glad that I purchased this book. It was so well written, with friendship, innocence, lust, love, and true feelings. I’m not sure whether I’ve read any other books written by Megan Wade, but I’ll be reading more after this one. This instalove emotional book was sensational.
Finnlay is the brother of Petra’s best friend. Finn and Petra have known each since they were young, each has had feelings for each other, but there is a big difference in age. Finn has had a hard time raising his younger sister, but has done a great job.
Petra is a young 19 year old innocent young woman, but has had a crush on Finn since she was very young. Her plans to spend Thanksgiving, with her parents in Florida, has had to be canceled, so her best friend invites her to spend it with her and her brother. Petra is resistant, because she feels to much for Finn.
A situation occurs where Finn and Petra are left alone, and they finally admit their true feelings. They each declare their love for each other, and Finn’s sister goes thru her own situation. The epilogue closes the story with a beautiful HEA.

Pumpkin is book two in the ‘’sweet curves’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Due to the weather, Petra is unable to fly home for thanksgiving. When Petra’s best friend invites her for thanksgiving, she is a little hesitant. Petra has had a crush on her best friends older brother for years. Finley has wanted Petra since she was seventeen. Due to her being his sister’s best friend and twelve years younger than him, he avoids her. When Petra joins him and his sister for thanksgiving, sparks fly. Will Petra and Finley get their happily ever after?
The chemistry between Finley and Petra is clear to see and I liked them as a couple. The love they had for one another is undeniable.
I really liked the ending and the epilogue for this story.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
