You Can Do It, Noisy Nora!

Rate this book
Noisy Nora is learning to play the violin, but her family isn't sure they can survive it!

The lovable heroine of Noisy Nora returns in a new book that will charm parents and children alike. Nora is determined to play the violin, but her parents, sister Kate, and brother Jack are appalled by the terrible sounds that emerge during her practice sessions. Scrape and shriek, screech and squeak--everybody holds their ears. But when a special evening comes, Nora succeeds in playing the secret song she's struggled hard to learn.

You Can Do It, Noisy Nora! provides the perfect way to show young children the value of persevering when trying to master a new skill. Rosemary Wells's strong-willed heroine is as feisty and unstoppable as ever in this humorous, heartwarming story.

Rosemary Wells is a childhood staple for me, and to this day she is still an all time favorite. Nora is back, and this time, she's showcasing her violin skills-- or lack thereof, in the beginning. Nora shows us the power of patience and determination when you're dedicated to learning something new! Paired with Wells's lovely detailed art and love put into her work, this book is bound to become another classic.

After hearing Clair de Lune being played on the violin, Noisy Nora was determined to learn how to play the instrument. Members of her family tried everything to dissuade her from learning how to play the violin, but Noisy Nora was not to be stopped. Noisy Nora had set a deadline date to learn a special song, and was not be stopped.

This is a wonderful book about learning to play a musical instrument! It combines lessons about: being true to your needs, mastery takes time, practice makes perfect, and be patient with yourself & others until the skill can be used to help others!

Nora really does show perseverance when it comes to practicing her new instrument. Good for her for going against her parents and playing the instrument anyway.

I loved the original Noisy Nora book, so am so happy to finally have this sequel!
Nora is a force of nature, with a loving and supportive family - her parents are lovingly patient with her violin practice, her siblings - not so much.
I know the perfect child for this! Although, she wants to play the bagpipes!

Inspired by her musical neighbor, Nora takes up the violin much to the disdain of her sister and brother. But plays a musical tune for her mother on her birthday, that has them all singing a different tune.

I'm glad to see Nora is back but it doesn't have the middle sibling charm the first one did.
