The Fallen Men #4

After the Fall

Rate this book
From Wall Street Journal bestselling author Giana Darling comes an angst-filled romance about what happens after the happily-ever-after for a bad boy biker and the woman he corrupted... I was settin’ up to live a good life, the kinda life I’d fought hard to deserve. With a good woman––the best woman––at my side, a degree under my belt, and the whole world at my feet, I was livin’ the kinda happily ever after usually denied the rebellious and the criminal. I’d turned my back on that kinda life, thinkin’ I needed that clean, wholesome kinda happy. Then the devil came dressed in the wings of an angel and took someone from me. And I realized I was wrong. There was no clean and wholesome for a man like me with poetry in his heart and outlaw in his blood. The life I’d been livin’ was only purgatory, holding me over until the time came for me to descend into Hell and pick up the tarnished crown that awaited me. I was condemning my woman to a life of violence, blood, and heartache, but I had to hope she’d step up and finally be the rough and tumble queen to my Fallen MC king. *After the Fall can be read as a stand-alone romance, but you first meet the couple in Lessons in Corruption (The Fallen Men, #1)*

"Awake, arise, and be forever Fallen.”

After The Fall is PHENOMENAL!! King Kyle Garro and Cressida Irons have been living together for quite awhile, but there are no rings, no wedding date in sight.

King is trying to do what he can to encourage incremental changes that might keep the Entrance PD off their back, but the Old Guard doesn't want to hear it. Cressida is wondering if she should bring up getting married in a more formal conversation.

King and Cress have had the talk, talked about getting married, having a baby, all that important stuff, but they've never talked about when. Cressida doesn't know why, but King is more and more distracted by the day. Whenever she asks he brushes it off, or distracts her with loads of HOT, yummy sexy times.

Meanwhile things have changed in Entrance, and not for the better. Someone is trying to destroy the club from the inside out it seems, and have concentrated their dirty, corrupt behavior on those that have the protection of The Fallen. King finally sees the direction this must take, and after that all hell breaks loose.

The Fallen will never be the same, and King and his Queenie are in the direct line of fire. Will they survive, or will King make the only decision he knows will force the enemy's hand?

An amazing book full of non-stop action, beautiful poetry from the heir apparent to Zeus' Iron Throne, and fantastically HOT, steamy sexy times. I straight up ugly cried through parts of this book, but as always Giana Darling saves the best for last. You will cry, laugh at the antics of King and his brothers, and swoon at the beautiful way King and Cressida grow ever closer. A ton of surprises, and the comfort of meeting back up with The Fallen Men MC who treat their Old Ladies like gold. Worth far more than five stars! I can't imagine what Ms. Darling's next move will be, but I'm standing in line to get it!!

“There’s no end to my love for you. It’s woven into the very fabric of my soul so even when our bodies die, we’ll still never stop lovin’.”

Oh. My. Goodness. Giana Darling slayed me with this book. I'll be honest, although I *liked* Lessons in Corruption, it was my least favorite book of the series. It wasn't that King and Cress weren't great characters, it's just that compared to some of the other books in this series, it wasn't my favorite.

I was not expecting to love this story so much. I find it's challenging for most authors to write an epic story about an already established couple, but they should take a lesson from Giana because she executed this perfectly. I laughed, I swooned, I cried so many tears... gah this book gave me so many feels! King is the most poetic hero and is such a fairytale prince dressed as a biker. And Cress is his perfect match, his Queenie.

The epilogue to this couldn't have been more perfect. I am a little obsessed with this series and The Fallen men and women, and I can't wait to read more! This was such a win for me and it gets a 5 star rating. Highly recommend!

I'm dead!!!!

Here lies Giana Darling, or what is left of her rotting carcass after her readers find her. I would like to offer my condolences to her family, but I'm pretty sure I will be raising a pitch fork with the lynch mob, so sorry not sorry.

Giana's life was cut short in only the way a true reader can appreciate. She died for her craft. I'm sure it would warm her heart to know that crazy fans love her characters enough to steal her, tie her up, shout terrible things about her, beat her, and possibly kill her. What you don't realize is that Giana asked for it. Yup, that's my defense. Your Honor, she did despicable and heinous things to our hearts, minds, and emotions. It wasn't our fault. Think of us a survivors of emotional abuse and realize it was the only way.

While we do life in prison without parole, I want you to know. It really isn't my fault. Giana MADE me fall for a smiling angel with darkened wings. His halo of golden curls enough to distract me from the grease staining his wings. That Fallen angel became a light in my world and she tried to take him from me.

All crazy, obsessed fangirling aside...Giana Darling killed pieces of me I'm not sure I'll be able to resuscitate. King is an incredible dichotomy that lures in its prey, seduces you, and then makes you the most pliant of worshippers. The way this book went had me stalling. I put it down, walked away, and tried to busy myself so I wouldn't have to read exactly where it led me.

I sobbed. I raged. I lost my ever loving sh!t. But my anger is only being abaiting by hope. I may want to string Giana Darling up but the most torture I would offer is tarring and feathering ...or maybe tickle torture (I mean that in non-creepy totally torturous way).

After the Fall is a heartbreaking, mind twisting in despair, love intensified book. It's not for the faint of heart. Now, I'm going to cry some more and then go read King's poems.

Btw, the ones in this book were intense and destructive to my already fragile heart. I can only imagine the masochistic glee I will experience reading them.

”Never thought much about dying. I was still a young man by anyone’s standards, only twenty-three and healthy with it, but my lack of curiosity about death stemmed more from my lifelong exposure to it than anything else.”

It’s been a few years. The club has gotten a few new ole lady’s and there’s a few new additions on the way. Entrance is still as corrupt as ever. No one seems to learn their lessons and everything just gets darker on this side of things. Seems around every corner there’s a shadow lingering from where the good have gone bad. But right now? Everyone’s holdin their breath. You can feel it coming. One wrong move and the King is surrounded. Checkmate. And nothing will be the same After his Fall.

“Hope that my sacrifice would ensure the happily ever after I’d once promised my woman.”

In the Fourth book in Giana’s Fallen Men Series, After the Fall we head back to Entrance while HR and Lion are still in the middle of their operation with the Berserkers. The streets are filled with tension as Sergeant Danner continues his hunt for something to pin on The Fallen, legal or not. But amidst it all a poetic biker and his iron queen are building their life together. Giana takes us back to, King Kyle Garro and his rough and tumble queen, Cressida Irons.

“You know, sometimes, even when I hold you like this, bein’ with you feels like a dream I’ve got no business dreaming.”

In one of Giana’s most romantic and poignant books, she brings forth a love story like no other. One with a passion and devotion that is so deeply embedded in the characters souls it’s impossible not to follow the emotional roller coaster that is After The Fall.

King’s transformation from boy to man is not only evident in the physical sense but the words and methodical thoughts as well. The lusty high school poet has grown into a man worthy of the patch that sits on the backs of his brothers. His poems still fill the book in his back pocket but they also spill out into his relationship with Cress. Each word wrapping around a body part, caressing lips and leaving lingering chills. The intensity of King and Cress’s relationship is so beautiful it’s aching and each turn of the page is a spillage of their devotion to one another that you can’t help soak up as it flows.

‘I love you, you know?” I whispered to him. “Sometimes it terrifies me how much I love you and how deeply happy we are.”

While After The Fall centers around King and Cress, the secondary characters are not downplayed. Giana takes the same intensity of our two main characters and infuses it into each and every one of the secondary. Daddy Zeus is back and in true Prez fashion holds the Fallen family together even from afar. In one of the best displays of writing to date, Giana brings Cress and Zeus’s relationship from the highest of highs to lowest of lows, every tear, smile, a glimmering bit of hope is wrung out in your own heart just as it is in theirs.

“So that even though you’ll be there in our hearts like you said, I can still carry a piece of you down the aisle with me just as I would if you were free to walk with me.”

Giana takes her readers on an asphalt ride filled with turmoil and loss but also lessons in family and friendships. What it means to meet the love of your life across a grocery parking lot and making the decision to never let her go even as a young man. What it means to forge your own life after living in the shadow of what you were suppose to be, even if that means marrying a poetic biker you happened to teach in what felt like another lifetime. Chains are broken and iron is forged in this next installment of The Fallen Men Series.

“There’s no end to my love for you. It’s woven into the very fabric of my soul so even when our bodies die, we’ll still never stop lovin’.”

It's so great to be back in the Fallen world! I love that we got Cress and King again, but I will say, I do miss the angsty romance in this series. We just get to see Cress and King in love and not a whole lot of angst in the romance department. The book starts off a little slow, but around 150 pages in, things start picking up and the conflict really starts to build. I definitely had no idea how they were going to get out of certain situations! I am so excited to continue on and read about some new couples in this series!

“I would fall from grace a thousand times over if it meant living in sin and beauty with you.”
Finally a book in this series that I can rate a solid 4 star! I'm so happy I could cry 🙈

Book 4 is a continuation of King and Cressida's story. Even though the books in this series are technically stand-alones, this one is not it. After The Fall follows King and his Queenie after they've had a HEA in book 1.

“I love you, you know?” I whispered to him. “Sometimes it terrifies me how much I love you and how deeply happy we are.”
His hands came up to wrap over my wrists as I held his face. “No fear, Queenie. There’s nothin’ we got coming that we can’t handle together.”
“That’s sweet.”
“Fuck sweet, babe. It’s the motherfuckin’ truth.” He lowered his forehead to mine so that those incredible, pale as the dawn sky blue eyes were all I could see. “Told you once, and I meant it. I’d tear the fuckin’ world apart if it wronged you.”

The first part of this book overlaps with book 3, and shows us what's going on in The Fallen in the meantime. The second part is where the story picks up after the last book ended on a cliffhanger.

I loved this. To be more specific, I'll list exactly what I loved here:

➡️ First and foremost, Cress's character is so much more developed in this. From a prim teacher to a biker queen, she's come a long way. Seeing King get the heroine he deserves was just so satisfying ✨

“You have this way of lookin’ at me,” he murmured huskily as he continued to card his hand through my hair. “Lookin’ at me like I’m the sun and you’re fucking dazzled by me.”
“I do,” I agreed easily. “I am.”
“Just a man, babe. Don’t forget it,” he reminded me, uncharacteristically somber.
I frowned and reached up to smooth the little furrow between his own brows. “Never just a man, King. Not when you’re my man.”

➡️ Of course, getting my sweet biker poet King's POV was a treat! I just love him so so much.

Lookin’ at Cressida Irons, the woman who would become my woman despite all the obstacles, I knew she would always be fuckin’ mine.
And me, irrevocably, fuckin’ ecstatically, hers.

➡️ You know what else is a bonus here? ✨ Zeus's POV✨ Yup, it's got that too. You can never have too much of Daddy Zeus imo 😌

➡️ Seeing the family bonding between The Fallen was legit one of the best feelings.

Now that all the positive feelings are out of the way, let me just say that book delivered such an emotional punch that I wasn't expecting at all! I can't believe how much this made me cry 💔

I literally wept my way through the final 25% of the book. But in the end, it was worth it.

...she might have been raised to sit on a golden throne
But she belonged on the seat of iron with a crown of steel
At my side.

I am in awe. I honestly don’t know how else to put it. Ever since I read Lessons in Corruption I knew I could never get enough of the infamous King Kyle Garro. No matter what, I’d always need more and my appetite for him would never be fulfilled. When Giana announced that the fourth Fallen Men book would be none other than King and his Queenie I couldn’t for the life of me contain my excitement. It’s like my wishes had been answered, but I had no idea the emotional ride I’d be in for.

From the very first page I was pulled back to the Fallen world. Who would’ve known what I was in for, and all the emotions I’d endure and just what my heart would go through just from reading the prologue alone. A mess—I was a complete and blubbering mess.

There isn’t a shadow of a doubt that King Garro IS and ALWAYS will be my favorite biker poet. I love the way he expresses his feelings and isn’t shy about it. The way he loves is fierce and magnetic and just everything. And he loves Cressida intensely and wholly and it’s just so beautiful. There aren’t enough words to describe King, other than he’s light and strength and has a heart of pure gold and would go to the ends of the world for the people he loves.

Cressida loves just as fiercely. She challenges King the only way she can. And just like King, she would do anything and everything to protect the people she loves. She’s strong, caring and intelligent. A true Queen for her King.

Crees and King are everything. They care and love each other so deeply. Their connection is just out of this world. They are without a doubt made for each other and perfect for one another. A love like theirs is epic—it’ll live on in eternity.

After the Fall is an emotional and bumpy ride. Filled with action, suspense and hold-on-to-your-seat moments. It’ll have your heart in a vice and make you bleed. You’ll be feeling everything and will no doubt shed tears. This journey that Giana has beautifully penned is not easy, but each and every heartbreaking moment was well worth it.

MILD SPOILERS

Yaaasss! Thank you Giana for not using the typical, cliche, and annoying plot devices that most authors use nowadays as hurdles for the couple to supposedly make their love "stronger". King and Cress were actually my least favorite couple in the series, though I love their age gap, but this book was the perfect redeemer for them.

I was surprised by how much I liked this book, and I'm giving major props to Giana right now. This story was about Cress and King's relationship, and their individual growth from their last book. Their relationship and love for each other only built in this book, and I never had any doubt of there love for each other. If anything, I think they they actually beat HR and Danner now. I even may have sobbed the whole last quarter of the book, just saying. I also may have only had two hours asleep though too, so that may have influenced some of it.😅

In Good Gone Bad, we were introduced to the rival club and what went down on that side. In this book, we actually take a look back on what was going down on the Fallen Men side, and the continuation from the cliffhanger which was terrible to leave us hanging for so long after that happened to Daddy Zeus.

I was pretty excited for this book, and even though it wasn't the couple I was hoping for, I'm actually glad it was Cress and King. I love how we get to experience how they are already in love and what they would do for that love. Thankfully, Cress wasn't as annoying in this, and even though she is the older one in the relationship, you can tell she has definitely matured in this, equal to King. KING! Omg! He was amazing in this! I love how much he loves Cress, and he was sooo sexy. I also really enjoyed seeing how much he is more like Zeus now too. Not exactly, but by the little things, like how they love, and laugh, and their actions, they are definitely father and son.

I'm so glad we also got to see more of past beloved characters. Zeus, of course because he will ALWAYS be the OG, and him finally meeting the twins, swoon. And even Tayline and Cyclops who I'm weirdly obsessed with after their novella. And Wrath baby, I'm dying for his book, and all I know right now, is Kylie better not be dead! I dont want to see him move on, especially when we can see how much he loved her, so again, she better not be dead. Also Nova I need a book for, but I also don't want to read about Lila pining, so hopefully he does some making up. Lysander definitely needs a book too! I think we would all love for him to fully redeem himself, even though he is already working on it. One thing I was confused about, but not complaining, was I thought Bea liked Nova, or was sexual or something with him? I could have sworn she was also the one engaged to someone else, not Lila. But then again it has been so long since I read the last book, and I am definitely on board with her and my new bae, Priest. Also, Bat for sure needs his happy ending. And last, but most important, Zeus and Lou legit need another book like Giana did with King and Cress, I need another one so bad.

Overall, Giana did an amazing job of making King and Cress and their love for each other even better than before. I wish all authors did this instead of throwing in another person to cause drama and doubt in the MCs relationship. So even though there were some grammar mistakes, and Cress would say some cheesy things every once in awhile like calling herself "Queen", I am still rating this high because it was a great book and had zero unnecessary drama that ruined the characters. So definitely giving high praises to Giana, and I cannot wait for the next in the series!

Safety: No OW/OM drama, completely safe.

I was really unimpressed with this book. I waited so long, did a reread of the first book and finally started this one. And I was honestly bored. I was confused most of the time because it can’t be read standalone whatsoever. It was pretty much the third book recap, for more than 50%, but from King and Cress’s perspective. I was pretty much not interested throughout the book because it felt like it was filling in a book I’d already read and adding a little side plot to it. Very disappointed.

"I'd found what I loved, and I was only too willin’ to let it kill me."

I’m speechless. Completely at a loss of words. How can I say something quite reasonable about the book that’s a complete masterpiece? Giana Darling has such a way with words that you devour their beauty and breathe them. Dear lord, the way she described the love between King and Cress made me so emotional that I was constantly clutching at my chest. I was seriously afraid that my heart will burst. After The Fall took me for such a ride that I still can’t get my pulse under control. This book is full of love, passion and loyalty. It’s devotion, adoration and sacrifice beautifully outlined in enchanting words.

King made me fall in love with him even more than before. He’s so affectionate, romantic and passionate. His love is all-consuming and it makes you wish to be on the receiving end of his feelings. He’s also generous, thoughtful and protective. A perfect man made from hopes and dreams.

Cressida gives as good as she gets. She loves just as fierce and yet still challenges King in a way that only she can. She’s strong, intelligent and caring. A true Queen for her King.

They care for each other so hard and they love so deep that just the thought of their connection is touching. They would literally do anything for each other and their loved ones. Their passion has no bounds and nothing can break them apart. King and Cressida are relantionship goals and their love is epic.

I’m so incredibly happy that Giana took me for this journey. I was so glad to be back in the Fallen Men world, to see how everyone is doing. I got the chance to see some of the previous events from new perspectives and was surprised with new twists and turns in King and Cressida’s lives. I was reminded that only Garro can love so beautifully and fierce, that being a part of this family is a blessing like no other. Gahhh, I’m so sad that this is a fictional world, because I’d give up everything to be involved with the Fallen. The bonds that are tying those characters are so strong and exceptional.

This book will rip your heart out of your chest and make you bleed. It’s emotional, thrilling and riveting. But at the same time it’s so wonderful that you’ll smile through the tears. I’m so tremendously happy and thankful that Giana decided to write this story, because it’s definitely something every romance reader needs in her life.

Every once in awhile, you find a book that means so much to you, that you just want to hold it close to your heart and never let it go. What a wild ride, in the best way possible. I don't think I realized how much Cress and King meant to me until this part of their journey. <3

So I feel like I was thrown into the deep end of the pool.
This is the fourth book on a series, and that's where I started (*facepalm*)... SO that's totally on me.
BUT, I really enjoyed this and now I want to read all about the Fallen Men.

It was refreshing that I caught up with Cress and King's relationship while It was ongoing. I guess it was just very interesting to see them as a truly formed couple that loved one another and that had external issues, instead of the will they won't they.

This is a biker gang (kinda mafia/found family) book, and I also liked how the conflict is smart, in a way that makes you see different sides to both the bikers and law enforcement.

The ending is a bit too predictable and cheesy. But, I certainly had fun reading this. I think Giana Darling does a great job of creating an immersive world full of interesting characters and I can't wait to read all about them.

4 'Made from you, for you' Stars!

OMFG.. Giana Darling just about killed me with this one. I was a crying mess!!! I wasn't expecting the surprise that After the Fall was. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I loved, I hated. I did and felt everything along with King, Cress and the whole Fallen gang. I love this MC series so much, it's for sure one of my favorites but I was a little scared about this book because it was about a couple that already has their own novel.

But Giana made me fall in love even more with this couple and this amazing crew that all go trough a lot in their journeys. I literally devoured After the Fall in just a few hours because I could not stop reading. I cannot wait to read the next novel in The Fallen Men series and I hope Giana gives us so many more of these characters because I simply adore them!

What a heartbreaking, emotional ride of your life!

I’m a little lost and don’t know what to write. I’ve been put through the emotional wringer even though I kinda knew it was coming- even before that prologue I had the gist of what was going to happen, I just didn’t know Giana would near on destroy me because of my love for these characters. What’s worse is I know it’s not over. The head evil villain hasn’t been stopped yet. I need more of these books Giana. I need another sweet novella- or just a couple of chapters in your newsletter of what happens after this. I need an extended epilogue, please.

A day later-
I loved the character growth and development we got from these two. It’s been 4 years since we were in their heads and to see how they’ve grown was beautiful. They are still desperately in love with one another but King is holding back. As much as he wants to be one of the Fallen Men he doesn’t want Cress to get hurt. We have to watch as he learns to accept that he can’t control everything but he has to give all he has to allow himself complete happiness. To watch King go from the boy, to the man, to the leader of the club and finally a husband was exceptional. It really was like watching one of your own children grown up.
As for Cress, she knew she had to be patient. She knew there was something holding him back but didn’t want to push or she might push him away.

As always, Giana’s writing has a poetic rhythm with hidden meanings. I feel like there could be a lot of Giana in Cress’s character and this helps pour her knowledge and love of literature onto the page. Thank you for this extraordinarily, heartfelt tale.

Hold on, for this is a bumpy and emotional ride! From the very first page you are pulled back into the Fallen world. We met them in Lessons in Corruption but their story wasn’t over. Not when you’re in love with a man of the Fallen MC. Cressida Irons and King Garro are ready to finally take the next step in their relationship but with tensions high in the club, can they finally get engaged and walk down the aisle before chaos ensues? So many threats against the MC might be too much to move on from. Get ready for another wild, roller coaster in the Fallen MC series. I cannot say too much but be prepared and maybe bubble wrap your e reader & have a few tissues. This does give you a little synopsis of the prior book, lessons in corruption, in case you did not read that as this can be read as a stand-alone. I enjoyed all the characters, old and new, and their interactions throughout. Get Ready! Told in dual POV

I'll be completely honest, there was a fairly large part of me that wanted book four to be about Nova, and that part was a little sad when I found out that it wasn't. To be ready and to remember everything that had happened in the past, I decided to re-read the Fallen Men series. After doing so, my love and adoration of the love King and Cress have got a thousand times bigger and the need for a second book was huge (especially reading Fallen Son and Good Gone Bad). The teasers Giana posted every once in a while made me very excited (and a little nervous) for this book and when I finally got to read it, I fell in love with this world all over again, I fell in love with Giana's beautiful writing; I had high hopes for this book and it exceeded my expectations by a lot -- to give you an idea, I finished this book in less than a day (17 hours to be precise). This book had everything I loved about The Fallen, the relationships among them, and of course, King and Cress. I know Cress got a lot of hate in Lessons in Corruption, I loved her though, but she quickly becomes the woman so many people love Lou for. She becomes a badass, determined, brave, strong, but at the same loving, caring and supportive, Queen. And King, I didn't think I could love King anymore than I did before, but I do. In After the Fall, King is sexy, swoony, romantic, sweet, poetic biker King. In my opinion, he is the perfect book boyfriend - an Alpha, but not an asshole to his love interest, he will do anything for her. As for the book itself, I couldn't put it down, it was sooooo good! It had everything to make a book beautifully perfect. Yes, towards the end it was an emotional rollercoaster, but it made the book that much better and the love between King and Cress that more special. Among tearful moments, this amazing book contained steamy moments, as well as happy, swoony, romantic, suspenseful and scenes filled with action. It didn't feel like I was reading a book or watching a story play out in front of me, it was as if I was one of the background characters watching and participating in everything that happened. It was almost as if I could go outside and I would see King and Cress zoom by on his motorcycle. It made me feel like I was a part of that world and when I was finished and made me wish that I was in real life. It's hard to explain in words how much I absolutely LOVED this book and highly recommend it. It is my favourite book from Giana and one of my favourite books in general, if not my number one favourite! Through everything that happened, the good and the bad, I loved every moment of it. Giana says that there is beauty in pain, and in this book you can see that she is right. There is beauty in pain but also with pain there can be beauty. We can see this with the loss of an amazing Fallen Men character and with the sunrise and cliff that is a part of their friendship. When a character in this book goes through something hard, though there may not be any joy or beauty in her emotions, there are words as beautiful as the sunrise. I'm trying to find a way to end this review that will make you want to get this book, but unfortunately, I can't. Just trust me (and Giana of course) and read this amazing, beautiful, enthralling, poetic, tragic story.

This book was beautiful such a heart-wrencher actually moving me to tears with its
poignant and sentimental narrative.
It’s the continuation of King and Cressida’s journey and the first half takes place timeline-wise at the same time as book three.

Though I enjoyed this it was the second half of this that made such an impact on me I’m not sure we really needed what came before this and it did feel like a bit like filler, wholly unnecessary, I was already satisfied with how we left these two when their story originally unfolded back in book one.
It was lovely to catch up but it just wasn’t needed as I was already convinced and invested in the depth of there emotional connection toward each other and didn’t need more now matter how well written.
As a result, I did find myself skimming somewhat just to get to the good stuff that moved along the story direction.

Now it’s the last third of this that made an impression and my god it gutted me I was a complete mess what a trip, this was and what made this book for me and without that addition, this would have been for me a lower rating.
King and Cressida are two characters that do deserve all the happiness in the world he’s a romantic old soul and she’s definitely his Queen which she proved to all who knew her right here.
This was again fabulously well written and I did adore the epilogue.

You know you’re in for one hell of a read when the prologue makes you gasp!

It’s no secret I love this author’s storytelling. This couple - King & Cressida were how I found her books so they hold a special place in my heart.

Their love is what romance is made of. Their chemistry, their connection and their acceptance of each other for exactly who they are. They give me all the heart eyes.

There were moments during this one where I had to stop reading because I was crying so hard. I was even tempted to skip to the end to find out what happened. I was a broken hearted mess.

This one is a roller coaster of emotions. A forever love kinda read. Go in with tissues and an open mind. You won’t regret it.

I received an arc of this book.

⚠️ WARNING⚠️
If you want to read the best version of this story, do not read the 1st/original edition as it is not fully edited!!!!

It was so fabulous to be back with King, Cressida & all of The Fallen characters again!!! It‘s been quite a while since I read the other installments, and I have a horrible memory, so I was worried I‘d need to reread some of the earlier installments, but Darling does a phenomenal job of catching us up to where we left off!!! While reading this, it was like no time had passed, and all of the fabulous characters were back in my life again!!! Not only do we get to catch back up with everyone and find out what’s going on with them, but we also get a peek into what Darling is working on in the future. For example, we briefly meet King’s half sister, Honey, who I am super excited to read about in book #5!!! Basically, this is your typical Fallen story: hot as hell bad boys, corruption and MC club drama combined with incredibly eloquent, endearing romances and a tease regarding what’s coming next!

i guess this is one of those cases of 'it's not you book, it's me' but then i think about how the heroine has the personality and depth of a plant and the feeling fades.

when i went into this book i thought i would finally get a book written from king's point of view, but instead, cressida got more pov chapters than the hero of his own damn book (after already having had a whole ass book from her perspective) and i started to lose my interest. maybe i would care for the heroine if her entire personality wasn't just reduced to her baking apple pies and not shutting the fuck up about the book 'paradise lost' and adam and eve, but i can't have it all i guess. to me, cressida was still the same annoying ass woman she was in lessons in corruption. she reminded me of those people in high school whom as soon as they get together with someone they absorb their significant other's personality as their own, because they never had one to begin with. i never liked her, and it might be something personal because i just cannot stand the fact that she is literally 30 years old and she still behaves and reacts like a damn teenager.

giana's writing got kind of cringy for me in this one as well. it was overly dramatic and poetic when she was writing about the simplest of things, and i just couldn't vibe with it. the dialogues between cressida and king have got to be some of the cringiest things i've read in a romance book in a long time. who the hell talks like they are in a fucking shakespeare play?? every time they'd have a conversation they started spewing poems about their feelings and trying to outdo each other with the cringiest and most saccharine phrases ever. save me from that nightmare please.
i also can't remember another MC series that is this incredibly over romanticized and embellished. every single one of the members of every MC in this series is drop-dead gorgeous, like supermodels. it's incredibly unrealistic that every single one of those guys are described as if they were jason momoa or brad pitt, please it's an MC not a runway show. it has to be the fakest fictional MC i've read about, and i've read my share of those, but the fallen men series is the only one i remember being like a group of runway models who happen to be criminals, and that's also starting to bother me. it gets harder and harder to suspend my disbelief whenever i pick up this author's books lately. the one thing i'm gonna give to her is that the plotline was somewhat interesting (even though the resolution was incredibly lame) and that she really knew how to write a book that is spent in the same timeline as 'good gone bad', the third book, without being overly repetitive (unlike a certain author who has written more than 4 books using the same timeline filled with only repetitions *coughcorareillycough*).

and the last thing i'd like to address goes to the scene where hot caramel and champagne is dropped into the heroine's coochie. at every romance author out there, it's 2020 can y'all PLEASE educate yourselves and stop writing stuff as if you've never had sex in your lives because anyone knows you don't put shit in your coochie unless you want it to itch like a motherfucker from the yeast infections you're gonna get. so please, stop with the disgusting food scenes unless it involves proper stuff bought for that particular region. it's not sexy, it's not hot, it's literally disgusting and unrealistic. hoping nova's book is better and that the h is somewhat bearable.

• Genre: Romantic Suspence- MC Romance
• Tropes: age gap (8 years), older woman
• First person, h/H POV
• Standalone? No.
• Cliffhanger? No.
• HEA
• Trigger? violence
• Steam ? High 🔥

I had mixed feelings before reading After we fall :
I was excited because the previous book ended with a huge cliffhanger and I needed to know how things would turn out for Zeus after his arrest.
At the same time I wasn't exactly thrilled to read another book about this couple, which is my least favorite in this series. I loved King but I disliked Cressida in Lessons in Corruption and Welcome to the Dark Side .
Well, I was an idiot to doubt Giana's choice because this book was amazing!
I absolutely loved King POV and I have to admit..Cressida wasn’t so bad in this book.
I really enjoyed the development of her character, from judgmental bitch to super badass biker babe. If I have to be honest, I was more interested in the club dramas than Cress and King's love story.. but I admit that they are a beautiful couple.
As always I adored Giana's poetic writing style and I loved her literary references (Paradise Lost, The Prince).
The plot was addictive and full of action, twists and turns.

So, Basically After the fall focused on two aspects :

✾ King and Cressida relationship

✾ The MC dramas with KingPin Javier and Danner Senior/ Entrance PD

This book was absolutely necessary for the Series because Good Gone Bad was set in Vancouver and we had only few scenes about the club/ the Garro family. The first 30-40 % of this book is a sort of catch-up and well.. a lot of things happened and the Fallen are in serious trouble.
It was like watching an episode of Sons of Anarchy

(Sorry my review needed some eye candy, hope you don’t mind 🙈 )

I totally fell in love with this Series and I highly recommend it to all the MC lovers.
I can't wait for the next books in this Series, especially for three reasons:

✾ Lysander

✾ Priest

✾ Wrath

Please Giana, I need their books ASAP 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

***AVAIALBLE NOW***

3.5 CROWNS

I kept going back and forth with this one. I love the Fallen, I love Welcome to the Dark Side and Good Gone Bad (both stand-alones), and I love Giana’s style of writing and weaving of mythology and classics into her writing. I live for it.

There are parts here that really dragged for me, which I attribute to the synopsis. It didn’t seem to match the story I read. And while I like King and Cress, I don’t have the emotional investment in them as I do in the other characters and them as a couple. If you love this couple, I would imagine that you will eat up every moment, but the poetic, enamored love between them slowed the story down for me. There is also a lot of rehashing of events from previous books which led to some more slower paced moments. I expected more action, more war, more something. Even the ending felt very rushed and left me wanting more. The best part of the book was the last 30%. I needed more of that.

What I did love, as I said before, is seeing the Fallen brotherhood. I live for this world and the men and women in it. Giana’s style of writing gives me all the smutty romance I love mixed with the classics. I just eat up her writing.

While this one wasn’t my favorite, I would imagine fans of the series will love it.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

5 ++++++ into infinity freaking stars

When I tell yall I cried, I mean, I was full on sobbing towards the end of the book. And then some more in the end.

I love how this book connects with H.R.’s and Danner’s story and continues on with Queenie and King’s pov.

We even get to see more of Foxy, Zeus, the babies, and Ares. I love that Wrath shows up too.

I don’t want to spoil it at all but do know that this book caused my heart to shatter, tape back together, shatter again, and tape back together again.

There is a HEA in a way and it’s one that you wouldn’t expect.

This book is just everything. And after doing a lot of thinking, I’ve determined that this has become my favorite book series. & I don’t do favorites but the loyalty, the love, the romance, the friendships, the sexual connection — everything is just so real. As a reader, you really do connect 100% with the characters in ways you wouldn’t expect. Like super connect aka why I was crying like 20-30 mins ago, lol.

I cannot wait for Miss Darling’s next book in this series (Inked in Lies). Like big facts, hunnies. I’m simply counting down the days 💖

I’m unwell from this one. Giana I’m trying to decide whether to forgive you or not. Damn this book!! Shook me to my soul and tested my limits. Just when I thought I couldn’t love King more—HE IS PERFECTION. I’m so glad we got to see more into King & Cress’s love 4 years later and stronger more sexier than ever.

“But it was through the prism of your love that I found myself and my life in the first place.”

Cress has finally proven herself to me and I now know that she is worthy of King. I knew it of course, but there’s no doubt now. That woman is a true “rumble tumble queen.”

“I was hungry my whole life. Just ravenous. Voracious for somethin’ with a name I hadn’t yet found. It wasn’t until I met you that I knew I was famished for love’a you and it wasn’t until our first kiss that I knew what it was really like to be satisfied and at peace. Cress, babe, you are the bone of my bone, light of my fuckin’ life, and I won’t let one day for the rest of our long lives go by without tryin’ and probably failin’ to express to you just how much you mean to me.”

My heart is sore, but repairable. God do I love Giana D.

After the Fall was the fourth book in the Fallen Men MC series by Giana Darling. It was a follow up for King and Cressida (book one, Lessons in Corruption) as well as the overall MC conflict.

It had been over a year since I had read the last book in the series so I was a little lost at first but I stuck with it and it eventually came full circle. The first half of the book’s timeline aligned with book three, Good Gone Bad and served as a high level recap for those events. At 50%, the book then picked up at the cliff hanger (from Good Gone Bad) and then dove into the meat of the plot.

At first I was craving a faster pace and didn’t feel the substance but there was no doubt the deep love King and Cressida shared; which ultimately served as the backdrop for the tale. In the end, it was a roller coaster while the author took us through a maze of emotions. It was heartfelt and riveting and it cemented my love for King. For such a young hero, he had depth and wisdom. And he lived by the motto “Family, brotherhood, loyalty, freedom. And love.”

The only negative was the editing errors. They were in abundance so hopefully future editions will have the corrections. Otherwise, the story and the characters were solid. Stay the course to the end and you won’t regret it.

True to Darling’s style, the stage was set for the next book, Inked in Lies. At this time, I’m not sure the main characters; however, the MC conflict will bleed over into it and I can’t wait to see where she takes us next. Hopefully we won’t have long to wait....hint hint!
