“who wants a good man when they can have a vicious prince?” 🖤

i am so EMO because of this series… Niko and Vasili absolutely destroyed me and i loved every moment of it.

description

first of all, i absolutely loved the fact that Vasili had his own POV in this book, since books 1 and 2 were just Niko’s POV.
this book also had the occasional Yasir POV too. gotta loooove multiple POVS! 😌

this series was so fucking tragic at times, i lost count of how many times i just wanted to scream and punch someone/something.

obviously i knew everything was gonna turn out okay, and that Vasili and Niko will eventually get their HEA… but if you’ve read this damn series, you know that most of the time a happy ending seems completely out of reach and basically impossible.🤣 the angst & suffering were never ending.

i think it’s fair to say that Nikolas slowly became my favourite character in this series. there’s just something so delightful and beautiful about Niko.
he just always hopes for the best in people, even when those people repeatedly disappoint him (*cough* Vasili *cough*).

“how could a man endure so much darkness and still see the light?”

Niko’s such a resilient, honest, strong man. he is also such a fucking badass… Niko during fight scenes made me SWEAT every time, he’s just SO hot and powerful and the way he commanded the flame???? absolutely ICONIC!!!

Vasili… he’s such a riddle. he can truly be a complete dick, but he also has such a beautiful vulnerable side to him. the way he automatically tries pushing everyone away, because he always expects the worst…😭💔

Niko/Vasili are so perfect together, because Niko is truly too stubborn to ever leave Vasili, even when he tries his best to push Niko away.🤣 too bad, Vasili, you’re stuck now…

“they hadn’t changed either. not really. Vasili was still a manipulative prick, and Niko was still the stubborn soldier, but together they were something else. something beautiful. something powerful.”

the way Vasili constantly put himself down and kept repeating that Niko deserves someone “better” was so sad. Vasili, baby… Niko would literally die for you!!!

“you deserve more.”
Niko refrained from grabbing him, knowing he’d shut down. “you are the bravest soul i’ve ever met. you fought and bled and lost everything, and still you stood on the edge of death, knowing it was your end, but you fought on, because it was right. Vasili, you’re beautiful in ways i don’t know how to describe, but i do know i love all of you. if anyone isn’t worthy, it’s me.”

the ending made me actually weep my eyes out. i really went through the full scale of emotions towards the end of the book.

“there was a man’s word, his honor, and then there were the things that mattered above anything else. like love. he wasn’t leaving Vasili here. fuck the prince’s last order, and fuck destiny.” 🖤

honestly what more is there to say… i guess i’ll just repeat it one more time that Ariana Nash is an absolutely incredible writer and that i adore Niko and Vasili. also, everyone please read this series.

How many times could a man break before he shattered forever?

✅✅ Characters
✅ Chaotic romance
✅ Angst
✅ Smut (not enough though...)
✅ Plot
✅ Pace
✅ Action
✅ Betrayals and politics
✅ Dark magic
❗️❗️ Trigger warnings: murders, mention of sexual abuse, torture, and drug use

Did this series almost break my heart a few times? YES
Was it worth it? YES
Was it as good the second time around? YES

Like the previous books in the series, Curse of the Dark Prince is an amazing combination of action, angst, snark, "saving the world" situations, and heart-wrenching doomed romance. I felt hope and despair, I laughed and I cried, and I am in love with Ariana Nash's series.

And that was why Vasili loved him. There was an elegance in Nikolas Yazdan’s brutishness. He had honor, integrity, and strength. Things Vasili had forsaken long ago in order to survive. He made Vasili see himself differently.

This book picks up right where Reign of Darkness ends, and it does not stop for one minute. Niko is on Vasili's trail, refusing to give up on his sly, brave, and tortured prince, despite both of them being in danger of succumbing to the dark flame. There is never a dull moment in Niko and Vasili's life. Fights, betrayals, lies, scheming, and twists keep happening and they cannot catch a break. They are desperately trying to save their world, while also saving each other, which proves to be more and more difficult as the dark flame's power takes hold of Vasili's mind. The dark flame and the magic linked to it are definitely more important in this book, and also better explained, which I really appreciated because some aspects were unclear at the end of the second book.

Was it better to abandon a love to save it or to hold it close as it died?

Seriously, I just couldn't stop reading this book. I was expecting (more like hoping and praying for) a happy ending for Vasili and Niko, but the more I read, the less I was sure that they would get their happily ever after. It was a very stressful read, the fast pace makes you hold your breath in anticipation and I am not sure when was the last time I was so nervous about the uncertain ending of a book.

“What do you have in this world that’s worth dying for?” He had one thing. A dream of a cabin in the woods and a man whose strength was endless and honor was true. A better man than Vasili.

It broke my heart to see Vasili willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone, and how he wanted to enjoy every single moment he had with Niko because he knew that there was no way to destroy the flame and remain alive. Vasili and Niko are faced with the cruel truth that to permanently destroy the flame, Vasili has to die. Every Nash books I've read so far were full of emotions, and this one didn't disappoint, I cried or almost cried a few times. It was such a good mix of bittersweet moments, meaningful and cute interactions, and a whole lot of action and fighting.

“As Etara as my witness, I will forever stand beside you, Your Highness.” It was the first time he hadn’t used Your Highness as an insult, and, of course, it crippled Vasili’s determination to send him away. He hated him for that but loved him too.

On a positive note, Vasili had his own chapters in this book (hallelujah!)! 🖤 I would have liked it from the first book, but at the same time, gradually getting to know him from Niko's point of view made him even more intriguing and interesting. This third book gave us more insight into his feelings, non-stop scheming, and complex persona. I still love him with all my heart, and I feel that I am repeating myself since the first book, but I love him wholeheartedly. His complexity, his ruthlessness, his hidden vulnerability, and his brave heart.

For all his rage and disgust, for the new lines around his eyes and his haunted expression, Nikolas still believed in hope. How could a man endure so much darkness and still see the light?

Niko remained the same honest and brave soldier, refusing to give up even when everyone said that it was pointless and hopeless. He fights with everything that he has and ends up having to make heartwrenching decisions in this final book. I love the change in him we could see in Curse of the Dark Prince. He finally accepted his feelings for Vasili and now has a clear goal: to save his prince and make sure he gets the freedom and happiness he deserves, no matter the cost. Niko was even willing to be selfish and unreasonable in his unrelenting quest to save Vasili, and Vasili himself had to remind him that there was more at stake than their relationship.

Vasili was still a manipulative prick, and Niko was still the stubborn soldier, but together they were something else. Something beautiful. And powerful.

Vasili and Niko's relationship did not evolve exactly in the way I was expecting it to. There is definitely sexual tension, desire, and love between them, but they simply don't have the time and luxury to explore their budding romance because problems keep showing up. After hating each other, while also being secretly attracted to each other in the first book, they were then forced to work as a team and were fiercely protective of each other, yet it was bittersweet to see how they only had a taste of happiness and "normal" life in the second book, and how they desperately clung to these sweet and cherished memories to keep them going in this final dark book. Still, I was hoping for a little more in the romance department, but I am still giving this book 5 stars for the overall epicness, and the fact that it made me cry.

I did not talk much about the secondary characters in this series, but I have to say that I like Yasir a lot, and I even came to somewhat empathize a little tiny bit with Amir near the end. Also, can we just take a minute to mention Adamo, the best freaking horse to have ever been written? He deserves a MVP award for this whole series. Niko and Vasili would not have survived for three books without him.

He had not meant to fall in love with Nikolas Yazdan. Use him, yes. But never love him. He’d been so long without love, he hadn’t seen it stalking him until it had struck. And now he was defenseless against it.

"I no longer need to go to sea to be free," Vasili said. He reached out and pinched the daisy stem between his fingers, taking it from Niko to tuck behind his ear. "You brought freedom to me." His fingers slipped between Niko's, capturing his hand, and drew him close.

✧ you can hate or love Vasili, but you can't deny this man's complexity was so... intriguing. Vasili is a perfect example of my fav type of character: complex. flawed. cunning. broken. and yet, as the story goes on, we see bits and pieces of his layers and how he's not good, but he's not bad either? he's simply just someone who's been through hell and back and trying to survive life the way he knows how. he also has the kind of character development i love where, for the most part, he's still the same Vasili we've known from the beginning, but there's also this subtle change within him that only Niko was able to bring out. i love characters who stay consistent to their personality once they fall in love, but they change just enough to where you can see something's different, despite them still being the same person. 🤍
✧ Niko. my strong, stubborn and loyal assassin. 🥰 if i'm being completely honest, although i liked Niko, he didn't really stand out to me (in comparison to Vasili, at least) until book two and my love for him just kept growing ever since. the way he stuck by Vasili's side and would do anything for him, bc he saw the good in Vasili whereas everyone else would just see the outside but never look deeper, had me in tears. just like Vasili, Niko had his own demons to deal with as well, but the way he always looked on the bright side of things, despite all the shit he had to endure... i admire his strength tbh.
✧ ok but i didn't expect
✧ LASHER NOVELLA/BOOK?? PLEASE.
✧ Amir
✧ this trilogy brought me nothing but pain and heartbreak and, yet, i would read it as many times over as possible just to experience Vasili and Niko's romance/journey again. 🥺

- fav moments/quotes -
"They argue over everything," Yasir told Liam. "Vasili will call a box square and Niko will argue it's round."
"Because he knows I'm right." Vasili grinned a true smile, and after so long without it, Niko's heart skipped. He cleared the knot from his throat and drank from his glass.

This wasn't fair. Every good thing in Niko's life had been taken too, and now Vasili was asking him to give him up, to sacrifice him, like what they had together didn't matter. "You also told me it was real. All of it. The cabin. The kiss. I can't do this thing you ask of me because I love you, you wretched son of a bitch. I dragged you out of that palace fire. I killed Alissand's possessed to get to you. I'd go to the fucking ends of Etara's earth for you, but I will never put you in that cage."

With his wrists still caught, Niko couldn't hold him like he wanted, but perhaps that was a good thing, because he was free to see how Vasili's precious face was open, so full of wicked glee that it made Niko's heart ache to think he'd almost lost him. "This house is a not a cabin, and Seran is not a forest, but will you stay and build a life with me, Vasili?"

Will there perhaps be a spin-off series centering around Lasher, the elf? I'm not sure I'd ever love an elf from this world but he did have "some" redeemable moments so maybe? That said, I actually want more of Niko and Vasili's journey. I feel like this wasn't enough. I understand that there's a 3.5 book as well, - which I'm gonna read next - but I feel like that won't be enough. I think that Vasili is such a complex character that his story can go on forever.

First read review:
While this book was the least good in this series, it was still interesting. I do not regret changing my mind to read this series at all. Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan (24/25?) and Prince Regent Vasili Caville (23/24?) were good character and kept things interesting. For some reason, I wanted something more out of this one, yet I don't know what that was/is. While Niko remained strong through out the series - even got stronger - I felt like Vasili lost a bit of his appeal. He was so.... badass in the first book. He still was in book two and three, probably the strongest character in this series, but somehow, in my eyes, he lost a bit of his edges. While I had grown tired of his games and lies in book one and two, he had this mystery to him: he was more than just the flame. Yet as the story went on, I felt like he was just the flame and Vasili, if you know what I mean? I'm rambling; I'm sick so I'm probably not making any sense. That said, I kinda wanted to know more about the elves. Is the rest of Ariana Nash 's series kept this this level of darkness or do they go darker? Because this darkness in this series was pretty much my limit. Any more and I'm not interested...

Quick basic facts:
Genre: - (Adult) Dark Fantasy Romance (M/M).
Series: - Series, Book Three.
Love triangle? -
Cheating? -
HEA? -
Favorite character? - Nikolas ‘Niko’ ‘Nik’ Yazdan.
Would I read more by this author/or in this series? - Yes, I believes so.
Would I recommend this book/series? - Yes, if you like dark themes.
Will I read this again in the future? - Who knows.
Rating - 3 stars.

**SPOILERS**

There was never a good moment to set this book down, something detrimental was always happening!! I swear, the world was either burning or they were talking about how to prevent the world from burning 😂. I loved it all the same though, this trilogy has been a complete five star for me and I’m going to miss them so much!! There were more perspectives in this book than the rest, including Vasili’s point of view. Which was very interesting since he’s the character whose thoughts are always set and locked behind closed doors. There was also Yasir's perspective which was fun at first, getting to see him and Liam together. UNTIL Liam dies!! And all we get is to watch Yasir’s lively spark fade since the very person he’s been fighting for is no longer there 😭😭!!! I really have to say I wasn’t expecting his death, I knew I should have been since this is Ariana Nash and they hinted at it multiple times. Still though, I cried 😞. Another thing that hit me as a shock was that I started to feel bad for Amir, especially on the ship when he opens up without all the voices in his head. He’s really just a boy wanting his brother and family back!! Like Vasili has Niko and Amir has absolutely no one. Despite everything there is eventually a happy ending, a well deserved happy ending and Vasili is finally free.

4 'Adamo is the best fictional horse ever' stars

The fantasy elements in this book are fantastic. Seriously, this book could easily be regarded as epic fantasy. I loved the expanded magic system, we learned more about the flame and its purpose. Also, the fights (with magic or without) are written very well.

The story picks up right where it ended in the previous book and the fast pace makes you hold your breath in anticipation the entire time. I can't remember when was the last time I was so nervous about the ending of a book. So suspense is masterfully done.

I also like how the side characters got the chance to shine and, of course, the highly anticipated Vasili's POV was the cherry on top! Seeing/ hearing his thoughts really added more needed insight into the story.

You can count on Ariana Nash's books to break your heart and this one was no exception. There were many emotional moments and I almost cried one time or two.

Sadly, the romance was lacking a little in my opinion. Vasili and Niko shared some great scenes together but there weren't many of them and to be honest, their love story left me kind of cold. After the tangible chemistry in book 2, I expected way more from them.

Overall, this was a great conclusion to the series and I was sad to let these characters go.

(FRTC as soon as I'll have more time. And don’t worry, there will be quotes and pics as always 😄)

The ARC of this book provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Pippa!!

Read this final installment of the trilogy if you love the characters, Vasili and Niko, not for the resolution of the fantasy plot. To be fair, for the most part, a good balance of action and smut kept me going - aided by a triple POV of Niko, Vasili and Yasir and generally good writing.

Sadly, the big (predictable) showdown at the end had me confused and focused too much on incongruous developments; characters’ actions and the whole flame magic sometimes just didn’t make sense to me. It also felt like the plot in books 2 and 3 mostly served character development and, in the end, didn’t boil down to much more than trying to get rid of the flame.

On a positive note, I enjoyed the character develoment, especially since the seemingly endless exhausting circle of betrayals was broken: finally, Niko’s trust is not misplaced.

I also sort of got my second wish: elves didn’t remain the faceless evil of the previous books. BUT the reversal from “elves are sadists that can’t be reasoned with and must be eliminated” into “not all elves are evil and that’s why Niko won’t kill any of them anymore” was too unmotivated and sudden. I liked that the elves finally had a face - Lasher - and that not all of them wanted the flame released but their nature and motivations were not developed and convincing enough. I feel like the author squandered some potential here. But maybe that’s a non-issue for most.

I also missed a deeper meaning behind the three families in connection with the flame. I can’t go into details without spoilers but I had expected more in terms of establishing causation and meaning.

All in all, I should have left it at reading the first book. I love fantasy and I love (MM) romance but the fantasy part to this just left me disappointed and kind of drowned out the good. With that in mind, I don’t think I would read this given another choice.

This book could stab me in the heart and I would thank it.

So this is the final installment of Ariana Nash's Prince's Assassin. As with every Ariana Nash book, you can expect a stellar combo of angst, snark, and heart wrenching romance. And boy, does this book not disappoint. It picks up right where the last one left (yep, that horrible soul-crushing cliffhanger). I couldn't stop reading this book. I had to know that everything will be okay, that Niko and Vasili will make it.

Nash's ability to create characters shines through but her plotting skills are really what makes this series so good. It is fast-paced and exciting. Big events keep happening and characters simply do not catch a break. Seeing how all the pieces fit together was an absolute joy.

We learn more about the flame and the other magical elements. Digging deep into these concepts was also a highlight for me, as they weren't clear in the second book. The fantasy elements raise the stakes and really shape the tension.

I agree with the other reviewers that something in Niko and Vasili's chemistry was lacking but nonetheless, I still felt like I was rooting for them. There was something bittersweet in the way they were unable to work on their relationship because problems kept showing up, they were forced into being a team, rather than a couple.

Basically, if you like the combination of lgbt+ romance and fantasy, you will enjoy this book, I can pretty much guarantee that. For full disclosure, I do recommend starting with Silk & Steel as Eroan forever rules part of my heart but if you're more interested in inner dynamics of a kingdom, this is for you.

A huge thank you to Ariana Nash for surprising me with a copy of this!

What I'm Taking With Me
- Niko's stubbornness is such a mood.
- Oh my god, the last 100 pages just flew by and I was 100% not ready.
- I can't believe this series is over, it feels like there's more of this world to explore.

---------------------
Me: This is a very busy time at uni, I must focus now.
Ariana Nash: Here's an ARC of the last book.
Me: University is dead to me, bring on the sword fights and dramatic sacrifices!

***4.0 teary eyed⭐***

"This was who they were now. The prince and his assassin. Caville and Yazdan, defying the gods, defying fate, defying anyone who dared doubt them, together forever. Nikolas would have it no other way."

Review of the Final Book of this Series:

I binged this book in one day and when I finished it, it was 4 am yep.

What is sleep😩 those damn few last chapters of the book can make a bish cry😭😭. Who is cutting onions not me🤧.

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Lots of angst, sadness, pain, loss and devastation. Yes you will probably cry when you read the last chapters of the book. It is emotionally taxing. The last author who made me feel this way was Gregory Ashe, and if you know his books they will make you seek a therapist lol. (Disclaimer: I adore Gregory Ashe and his books).

Now you may wonder why was this one so emotional?

Well, there are many reasons. For one, Liam dies. That sweet sweet man had to become a sacrificial lamb😭😭. He was too pure. I knew he wasn't gonna make it to the end of the book. Secondly, Vasili is finally taken over by the dark flame and you know what that means, Niko has to carry out Vasili's final order/wish. His helplessness, and lack of control of his fate was emotional af. I just wanted Vasili to be free of everything, his role as a prince, the curse of the flame, saving everyone and their mom from the elves, it was all just too much. I wanted him free and happy, but of course that was not what Ariana Nash had in mind. Nope. Vasili had to almost die to be rid of this curse. I won't even go into that entire scene because it can make even the strongest bish cry 😭😭. I am just glad Niko never listened to his final wish.

I love Niko. He truly was the hero of this story, saving Vasili from even himself. This man's devotion and love for this cursed prince was everything. Niko's determination to change their fate truly leaves the reader left in awe. If my future husband is not as devoted to me, I don't want him lol.

I am happy that Niko's uncle/shah and Amir got what they deserved, their karma. I was left satisfied with the ending they got. Yep, no sorrows from me for those wretched characters. Not even Amir.

The characters that have my heart are Vasili and Niko. These two, and the tribulations that they have overcome throughout this series is devastatingly beautiful, haunting and romantic. I love them, especially the dark tortured cursed Prince. Vasili is just such a beautiful character. Despite his sins, trauma, and everything else, the man has won my heart. Such a well written and complicated character that you cannot help but to love. I will miss him 🤧.

I have to say Yasir did annoy me a bit in this final book. I was truly sad for his loss but he never listens to anyone or anything. In the second book, I adored Yasir and his flirty nature. However, in this final book, he was a damsel in distress that needed constant rescuing. It was annoying. He just brought extra unnecessary trouble for my faves. I do still like Yasir, but was annoyed with our Captain/sorcerer/silk merchant.

The characters who did surprise me in this book were Roksana and Lasher. The allies I did not see coming. Roksana really redeemed herself in this last book. She pissed me off in the previous book. All is good now haha.

I did feel like there was too much sorrow in this book and not enough romance but I cannot complain since now I know a novella exists where I can get my HEA. The last chapter of the book and the epilogue were cute af but not enough to feed my hunger for these two. So a novella with these two where I can get my closure? say no more. I am already reading it of course lol.
😂

This book was really emotional but I am happy that my babies finally get a break from all the trauma and action that almost killed them. What a series! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will miss these characters. They definitely leave a mark on you *sniffles*🤧.

Until next time peeps!🖤

it's a mood.

❝this house is not a cabin, and seran is not a forest, but will you stay and build a life with me, vasili?❞

i woke up on this fine wednesday morning with a burning desire to procrastinate life ✌️🙃

but if i am going to procrastinate then why not feel accomplished while doing it? the prince's assassin is a series i've been meaning to finish since march of last year. instead, like a dumbass, i waited until almost a full year later to pick up book three.

make it make sense, i know 🤷‍♀️

✩ my random thoughts and feels.

❝as etara as my witness, i will forever stand beside you, your highness.❞

🗡 i enjoyed how everything ended. while it wasn't my favorite entry in the series (i think i'm gonna give that place to book one two) it was still a solid way to end everything.

🗡 niko was still just as great as ever. i especially loved the way he never gave up on vasili. he stood by his stubborn vicious prince to the very end.

🗡 getting vasili's pov was really nice. we didn't get his pov in the other two books so i was happy to have some insight into his thoughts.

🗡 amir needs to burn in hell, and honestly … i'm very mad that niko wasn't the one to kill him. idk, i always felt some type of way about amir. i never thought anyone really took what he did to niko seriously enough. like … you're really telling me that he couldn't have been stabbed a few times for good measure?

🗡 the romance was … pretty good? idk, it definitely wasn't as good as it was in the previous two books, but. i understand. there was a lot going on and it made sense that the romance was put on the back burner a bit. they did have to save vasili from a devious ass curse, after all.

🗡 adamo is still the very best horse.

🗡 i gotta ask, what was the point of yasir's point of view? like … it was somewhat appreciated but i did skim it a bit. his whole side plot with liam was somewhat tragic, but … idk. maybe i waited to long to read this one because i felt nothing when liam died. i know, my heart is cold and bad.

🗡 oh my god the miscommunication was painful as all get out. i think that's my one overall negative to this series. the way vasili never tells niko fucking anything still kills me. i just wanted to trap them in a room together and force them to talk. no more riddles. no more talking in circles. just, the truth.

✩ in conclusion …

❝do you want a cottage?❞ niko asked, awed at the idea of a future and spending it with Vasili.
❝ah… but i’m far from the good man you promised you’d save.❞
niko gathered the prince’s hand in his, their rings glinting side by side. ❝who wants a good man when they can have a vicious prince?❞

🗡 this review is a mess and doesn't properly convey my love for this series. while nash's primal sin series will always hold a special place in my heart, prince's assassin comes a close second. nikovasili are such a great couple. they fought hard for their happily ever after and i'm so happy they finally got it. i guess i'm off to read their novella now.

Woah! What can I say?! Ariana Nash has done it again and totally delivered on the last book in the Prince's Assassin series, Curse of the Dark Prince, and I am completely here for it💜.

I had been hanging out for this book, and it was absolutely worth the wait. We pick up at the end of Reign of Darkness, with Niko on Vasili's trail, refusing to give up on his broken, treacherous, honourable, tortured Prince, despite both of them being in danger of succumbing to the dark flame.

Full of power plays, double crosses and what-the-hell-just-happened moments, it really was a roller coaster read, right to the end. And yes, there were some really bad moments and some really sad moments and some moments when I could have happily knocked Niko and Vasili's heads together. But we got there. And it was completely bittersweet. But in a good way 🔥🔥.

Love, love, loved it 🖤💜💙

“I have chosen my ending. Will you choose yours?”

“You vowed to find someone. To take him away to a life you’d build for him. You gave me your word in this. You are an man of honor. Do not go back on your word now."

WOW! Ariana Nash outdid herself with this final volume! ❤️ Talk about an intense read… The action didn’t let up for one minute — it got to the point I felt like I was vibrating with tension! I could not put it down! The ending was everything I could’ve wished for and more.

Prince’s Assassin is definitely AN’s best work yet. You don’t want to miss out on this wonderful series!

He’d watch the world burn to see his prince safe.

I've died and gone to hell because this book broke me AGAIN AND AGAIN AND SO MANY FUCKING AGAIN, and my heart, my brain, my eyes is exhausted. Damn you Ariana Nash, DAMN YOU.

This man who challenged him, defied him, and so thoroughly understood him that he had no choice but to love him in return.

What a fucking story this book was, what a craft of a novel to drive me mad and infuriated me and all of it's action bullshit, What a book. What a craft I want to strangle and kiss and slap and hug. Ugk, this series just about frustrates me and aggravates me and makes me feel NOTHING BUT DREAD, but damn it, it also weakens me and makes me cry and makes me smile and laugh at the wicked ways of these characters, makes me nothing short of awe at the strength of them, the courage they have and the will and tenacity far braver and stronger than anything I've seen.

Nikolas laughed a deep, dark chuckle and stepped closer, filling the space between them. “Defensive, prince?” He reached out a hand and stroked a lock of hair away from Vasili’s scarred eye. Anyone else would have received a merciless backhand for daring to touch him, but Nikolas’s brazen familiarity momentarily stole all Vasili’s thoughts, even the bad ones. He’d spent so long afraid, lashing out whenever anyone strayed too close, that trusting Nikolas was terrifying, but also freeing

What the people say is true, Ariana Nash is one WICKED, VICIOUS, SADISTIC Author because holy crap, GIVE ME A BREAK WOMAN, more less, give your precious angels a break!

Vasili’s only wish was to be free.

“Part of me hates Vasili.”
Niko braced an arm against the thawing ground. “He’s an easy man to hate.”
“Harder to love?”
“Something like that.”

Vasili closed his eye and breathed out slowly. “It never ends, does it?”

He loved Vasili Caville, the cursed prince, the voiceless man, all of him.

How many times this book broke my battered, exhuasted and tired heart? Think again and a thousand more times.

Vasili Caville might be the bravest damn soul he’d ever met. He’d do any damn thing for him.

Vasili was close now. His entire body burned with dark flame. He’d likened the Cavilles to a candle. Everyone had expected him to burn out long before now. But he hadn’t. Because Vasili Caville didn’t fucking surrender to anyone or anything, least of all some ancient curse. Vasili still held on, somewhere, somehow. Niko believed in him.

Vasili was so close now every line on his face stood out, every horrible scar marking the loss of his eye and a past he’d fought so hard to survive. “I told you this life is not for us.”

And I'd do it all over again just for Vasili and Nikolas, two fools in love.

Vasili truly was a work of art. One made of razor blades.

In the quiet moments, and the moments when he’d stripped all his layers back, Vasili was spellbinding. Vulnerable and fierce. Niko’s Vasili.

This so desperately damaged prince was his entire world and had been for far longer than he’d realized. Maybe since that first kiss in a starlit field.

“Who wants a good man when they can have a vicious prince?”

He was heat and fire, rock and iron, and after everything they'd survived, after every hurt and obstacle, impossibly, Nikolas Yazdan was Vasili's.

Niko and Vasili's story has reached it's epic conclusion and boy do you need to gird your loins to read this one. It puts you through the emotional wringer, stands you up, dusts you down and then shoves you back through it again. Repeatedly.

Nikolas kissed him then - so softly, so simply. It was nothing, really. A brush of the lips, but if it were the last thing Vasili felt, he'd gladly take its touch with him to meet the gods.

I may have cried at this book. More than once. It didn't quite slay me in the same way that the Silk & Steel series did, but this author continually sets the bar so very high that this is still an amazing read.

Niko blinked at the man beside him. Because there he was. His hidden Vasili.
The man he loved.

Old friends become enemies, new alliances are formed and help comes from the most surprising of places. The story rattles along at a fair pace, twisting and turning and knocking you sideways at the most unexpected of times. The story had everything I wanted, adventure, emotion, desperation, hope, despair and glimpsed moments of what could have been...

He wanted to build a new life somewhere far away from it all, where the prince didn't have the weight of a crown on his head or a curse in his veins. Just a cabin in the woods, an open fire, and a burbling brook.
But those dreams were a fool's fantasy.
He'd seen this done. He'd keep his word because it was all he had left to give the man he loved.
Vasili's last order would also be his own.

My poor fragile heart is battered and yet I am completely satisfied and replete with how this adventure ended. I hugely recommend this series.

He was wildness, like the sea, and Vasili would willingly drown in him.

Of course, Nikolas wasn't a threat - well, not like this. He was a threat at other times. But in these quiet moments, he was everything Vasili needed him to be and so much more.

I FUCKING DEVOURED THIS BOOK.

Exciting, angsty, a serious page Turner.
This is the final edition in the prince’s assassin series and it was EVERYYYTHINGGG.

Vasili’s and niko’s relationship FINALLY grew and it was so satisfying reading about them getting together and give in to temptation. The dark setting and themes made this a very nerve racking read and I loved every minute of it.

“You vowed to find someone. To take him away to a life you’d build for him. You gave me your word in this. You are a man of honor. Do not go back on your word now.”

“You were always that man.”

Just like the last 2 books, this one was twisted with secrets and lies. There was death but nothing too gruesome and violence that wasn’t too graphic. It made it dark without being morbid. This series is “criminally underrated”.

Almost forgot I read this one.

I have been following this series with zeal, always reading them immediately the books are released. I loved them and couldn't wait for this one. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bit mediocre.

This is a slow burn romance and one of the things I was looking forward to was Vasili and Nikolas getting it on especially since Vasili has always been averse to anything sexual. The deed was so subpar, it was almost boring. I obviously expected more.

The culmination of the plot was unsatisfactory as well. The books had been leading to a show down between Amir, Allisand and the dark flame yet when it came to the finish line, it was anticlimactic.

I hope the last book in her other series deliver.

3.5 stars ⭐️ This last book of this series was okay. But for some reason, I was bored to death. I don't know, but Niko and Vasili’s moments in this book felt flat to me. There were too many actions and fighting rather than emotional moments for Niko and Vasili.

But the ending was okay. Given that how much trouble Niko and Vasili faced, the HEA felt impossible for me. But I'm glad finally how everything was settled.

Finally I got to read the culmination of this series! Now I can say that my favorite book was the second one, but this one was awesome in it's own way too. 🥰❤

The beginning totally surprised me because I didn't expect Niko to find Vasili so quickly, but it was a welcomed one, specially with the clusterfuck that followed immediately. 🥲... I read with a painful heart the rest and I went through a rollercoaster of emotions: hurt, fear for the characters, anger, pain again, frustration and then finally relief. It was nonstop action with this one with few calm moments.

The end of the curse was as expected, a sacrifice from Vasili that I think every reader was scared of, but it ended well for our characters and I reaffirmed my love for Niko, what a loyal and hot man, jesus! *grabs her pearls*

I enjoyed this installment, it was action and machination packed, it gives us a solution and a hea, the romance was almost not present but that wasn't unexpected. So what more can a girl ask? Lovely 🥰❤

Well, I had my heart broken repeatedly, had a little cry a couple of times. Felt hope and then despair. Wanted to put it down but had to finish it. Basically, I was put through the wringer.
It was worth it though. Vasili's pov was a fantastic insight to the prickly prince and made me love him more. He isn't a good man but a good man would have crumbled under what Vasili had suffered.

When I started reading the first volume of The Prince's Assassin I never thought this trilogy would enter my heart so deeply. Yet, here I am, at the end of this wonderful and devastating journey, drowned in an ocean of feelings, not at all ready to let go of these magnificent characters. Niko and Vasili unexpectedly and unconditionally took possession of my heart, leaving it in pieces. This hadn't happened to me in quite a while. Ariana Nash has all my respect, no doubt about it.

Let's try to go in order with this review.

He moved another step closer. The odors of smoke and metal and war came with him. Scents that reminded Vasili of eight years in hell, until Nikolas had entered his life and changed everything. Stubborn and rough, smelling of hot metal, horse, and wood smoke. It was the wood smoke that did it - reminded Vasili of the cabin in the woods. Of the short life Nikolas had made for him. A life with Nikolas at his side.

Vasili's point of view was all I needed. I would have liked it from the first book, but I fully understand Ariana Nash's choice to reserve his narration only for the last volume of the trilogy. King of the Dark's Vasili is a cold, cruel and calculating man, and the fact that we gradually get to know him from Niko's point of view made him even more interesting. Only in Reign of Darkness do we begin to see a hint of his true self, of his vulnerability, but it's still too early to completely erase all of his barriers and thoroughly understand him. In The Curse of the Dark Prince, however, we finally have an unfiltered Vasili, with his raw thoughts and true emotions, and we love him every page more by reading his innumerable inner conflicts and the true nature of his feelings for Nikolas.

He had not meant to fall in love with Nikolas Yazdan. Use him, yes. But never love him. He'd been so long without love, he hadn't seen it stalking him until it had struck. And now he was defenseless against it.

I appreciated Nikolas much more in this volume. He is finally free of any doubts about his love for Vasili, and has a well-defined goal in mind: to save his prince and ensure him the happiness he deserves.

Vasili Caville might be the bravest damn soul he'd ever met. He'd do any damn thing for him. And he wished he could take him away, like he'd promised. But as Vasili had always said, that was not their ending. "You were always that man."

I swear I'm not crying.

A special praise to Yasir, Adamo and Roksana, brave souls who deserve the world. (Yes, I included Adamo. Yes, Ariana Nash made me love a horse.)

Incredibly, in this last book, I empathized with Amir and felt hugely sorry for him. If things had turned out differently, if the flame hadn't whispered all of its evil words into the head of a lonely and abandoned young prince, I'm sure Amir would have been a good brother, perhaps even a good person. A little vicious, sure, but not cruel, not evil. He certainly deserved better, outside of the Caville curse. Poor boy.

He lifted his head and stared at the grain, imagining Amir standing on the other side. They'd been brothers once, not the enemies they were now. Vasili had pushed him away, but before then, before the elves, before the flame mean anything, before Mother had died, he'd read to Amir the story of the prince in his glass palace. That one had a happy ending. Theirs, he'd long suspected, did not.

So, to conclude, am I heartbroken? Yes. Am I completely in love with this trilogy? Absolutely yes.

Final rating: 5 stars round, and all that remains of my heart.

“Would you betray me, Nikolas?”
“Never.” His gaze fixed on Vasili’s.

Finally the last book is here and I just refuse for this series to end.

What a rollercoaster of emotions! Unlike the previous books here we can read Vasili’s and Yasir’s POV besides Niko’s. I really enjoyed the way that changed the story’s dynamic. Being able to read Vasili’s thoughts was something more than necessary to understand this sly prince.

I’m trying to write this review spoiler free but there are so many revelations! So all I’m going to say is that this gif exemplifies my feelings throughout this amazing book.

I’m going to miss all the characters, though *fingers crossed* I hope there’s going to be spin-offs in the future. I would definitely read any book from this series without thinking twice.(Yes, even a book from Adamo’s POV)

Wow oh WOW! This final book in the series really brought all of the emotions - the entire freaking time! While I knew we'd get a HFN, I had no clue how we'd get there and who would have to die in the process. The suspense in this was visceral! I was holding my breath several times and couldn't read fast enough. I also completely adored Lasher -who is definitely the unsung hero of this book! We got that good good pining again in this book that just made me ache for Niko and Vasili!! But we also got that steamy pay off!! Action, suspense, romance - all of the things in this series!

This was a satisfying, emotional, and thrilling conclusion to Vasili and Niko’s journey. It was worth all the heart-wrenching feelings. I was crying ugly tears near the end and almost couldn’t see through what I was reading. Such a great final book! A total must-read series.
