Keanu Charles Reeves is a Canadian actor. Born in Beirut and raised in Toronto, Reeves began acting in theatre productions and in television films before making his feature film debut in Youngblood (1986). He had his breakthrough role in the science fiction comedy Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), and he reprised his role in its sequels. He gained praise for playing a hustler in the independent drama My Own Private Idaho (1991) and established himself as an action hero with leading roles in Point Break (1991) and Speed (1994).

Following several box office failures, Reeves's performance in the horror film The Devil's Advocate (1997) was well received. Greater stardom came for playing Neo in the science fiction series The Matrix, beginning in 1999. He played John Constantine in Constantine (2005) and starred in the romantic drama The Lake House (2006), the science fiction thriller The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008), and the crime thriller Street Kings (2008). Following another commercially down period, Reeves made a successful comeback by playing the titular assassin in the John Wick film series, beginning in 2014.

In addition to acting, Reeves has directed the film Man of Tai Chi (2013). He has played bass guitar for the band Dogstar and pursued other endeavours such as writing and philanthropy.

It's 48 pages, but reads as if there were 24.

It's lots of ultra violence, which gives it the distinct impression that it was written by a 13-year-old.

It's The Old Guard, and another couple of dozen comics you have read.

Its main character looks like Keanu Reeves, with a constant face as if he's trying to push out a particularly hard turd.

It's Boom doing an Image comic.

Who the hell let Keanu Reeves write a damn comic and why did they think it was a good idea? Honestly, though, it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be.

There isn't necessarily a lot that to say about BRZRKR. This first issue is a set up for the rest of the series. The first half the comic is definitely more focused on the art with very little dialogue. This isn't for the faint of heart. I've read books and comics that contain violence; however, this was a little over the top. There was violence where I don't think violence was even needed. I've seen reviews of people that really enjoyed it, but I think I'm definitely more middle of the road. I made the decision to rate it three stars because I'm really curious about the development of the main character and plot. He appears to be a half mortal, half immortal being that is being held by the military for different missions, but his true wish is to be mortal. It's a tad bit on the extreme end, but I think that if you're familiar with Keanu Reeves you'll understand why he structured this comic to work the way that it did. It isn't the best thing that I've ever read, but I definitely will be checking out issue #2.

Heh.

I surprisingly enjoyed this! I had no expectations going in and now I'm really interested where this will go. Cool idea and super bloody and gory. Fun stuff.

3.5 rounded up for Sad Keanu lol.

Well, sadly this was just one issue but it did make me curious.

We follow some kind of warrior who works for or at least with the US military. And he's ... special. He doesn't seem to feel pain or ignores it amazingly well. Not to mention the awesome healing abilities. I mean, it's no spoiler, the secret's in the title. *lol*

It's an interesting take on the myth what with the bio-tech lab we get to see. Should make for an interesting mix of old story and modern spins.

Obviously, the main character (nameless for now) is modelled after Keanu Reeves himself, only bulkier. But I don't mind that at all.
The art is gritty, most of the colours during combat are reds and browns and blacks while the colour palette switches to blues and a few greens for the panels showing the research facility.

Like I said, too short a glimpse into the story but enough to make me want to keep reading (but I think I'll wait for the entire volume to come out). :)

P.S.: Yes, it's full of blood and gore ... what did you expect of a story about a berserker?! *snickers*

Two things got my attention with this: Keanu Reeves wrote it and he seems to actually STAR in it.

I thought: why the hell not?

Lol, I just read the 9/10's of this issue, going, well, now, flying eyeballs and extra hardcore gore, I guess I know where to classify this one. Is there anything else?

And then the last bit got my attention. Not to put too fine a term on it, but I think we might be getting a little tale about and that's all kinds of fun. So I'm down for all the rest. :)

Read Around the World Challenge 2023 -- Read a book set in or written by an author born in each of 50 countries on the Asian continent: Book 11 / 50: Lebanon 🇱🇧 (Yes, Keanu Reeves was born in Lebanon.)

I found my copy of BRZRKR #1 on Scrib'd.

I'm not entirely sure what I just read. I know only that the apparently immortal protagonist does indeed look like Keanu Reeves. But I don't know whether that is metafiction or irony.

Rating: 🩸🩸🩸 / 5 vast amounts of blood
Recommend? no, because I was not compelled to go on to #2; but the art and color work are fantastic

Ok I was into this. This is the fastest I’ve ever read a 48 page comic. The first 2 3rds of the book are all action with not much dialogue. This action is damn gory and bloody as hell with a little extra gore. I mean damn. The last 3rd of the book is where the “hook” happens for me. We learn a vital thing about the main character. Once I saw this plot idea I thought of The Old Guard. Only this guy is waaaayy older than ol girl from that book. Way....older. Anyway, cool premise and execution for a first issue. This could very well go off the rails and become dumb but it has potential to go on to be great. We will see.

Holy $@&!

That was without question the MOST violent comic book I have ever read in my life. BRZRKR makes John Wick seem tamer than the “It’s A Small World” theme park ride at Disney World.

There’s not a ton of script here, which is fine for some — I just prefer a little bit more of a structured narrative as I move along. It’s also clear that Keanu isn’t just a tactic to push books: he’s really writing this. As you read along, you can actually hear his voice in your head.

Are there missteps and stumbles along the way? Certainly so. As we learned in The Matrix “everybody falls the first time.” But overall this is an absolutely phenomenal first glance at a series with a ton of potential.

Action fans rejoice — our new hero is here and his name is BRZRKR!

I enjoyed this issue quite a bit. I would honestly give it 4-5 stars if it didn't feel so familiar. I know many people have drawn similarities to Wolverine and I 100% agree with that. Ultra violent and fast paced action, but a story that I feel like I already know.

The violence is way over the top, but the gritty style feels at home with the concept. For a 48-page first issue, it honestly does not feel long-winded (likely due to the balance of little dialogue/lots of violence), so I’m eager to read more of this immortal version of Keanu Reeves and how the creative team dives into the rest of the story!

3,5/5. I felt very ambiguous about this one. Should I read it or not? I finally decided to have a go at tit and see what it was all about. The art was a bit too old school in the color and polish to be at the level I would have like it to be. There is a lot of action and it gets gory enough, could be good or bad depending on your taste. I didn't mind it, even like it at places. The story is alright, but not really original, this is some sort of new Wolverine, not exactly but you get my point... Entertaining yes, but I don't think it will achieve greatness or classic standard eventually. I'm curious enough to keep on it for at least a couple of issues then I will see!

Surprisingly good for something that is co-written/created by a celebrity. Would recommend if you're looking for a bloody/gory action comic that deals with an immortal man who wants to die, but can't. You can really feel the Keanu Reeves influence.

The only good thing about this is the art. I was hoping to enjoy it so I could support Keanu Reeves (who doesn’t like KR?) but this is not good. There is zero plot and it’s a bit of a mess. If it gets better, I might consider picking up the next volumes at a later date.

This was an impulse buy, so other than knowing about Keanu's Kickstarter campaign, I knew nothing going in. This is way outside my normal reading, but I liked it. I didn't care why he was doing what he was doing. I wanted to know more about the conversational narrative taking place over the action. It would've been nice to know if the "blue" speaker was male or female for context, but I definitely heard Keanu's voice for the title character. I appreciate the color shifts for past and present, and mission and lab. The red on red tone made it easier to stomach all the brain smashing. LOL I also liked that there is not much text. The panels told their story, the narrative told its, and in between, we got clues to put together. I'm curious enough to buy the next one. I want to know his origin.

BRZRKR #1 is written by Keanu Reeves and Matt Kindt with art BY Ron Garney and colors by Bill Crabtree.

I pre-ordered the complete collected editions of BRZRKR last year when it was on Kickstarter. Now that the first issue is out, I wanted to get a better idea of what the story was going to look like. The first issue has our main character on a focused quest to take out his target. Simple enough. But as the action is unfolding, the reader is listening to our protagonist talking with a therapist about what it is like to be an immortal war machine. I really didn't know anything about the book going in other than the creative team so I really liked the reveal at the end. The art is strong and brutal and reminds very much of the action heavy titles from the 90s. This is looking like a really promising action series!

Keanu Reeves first foray into comics, violent and bloody the comic will definitely draw comparisons to John Wick in the first few pages - mostly because the main character has been drawn to look like Reeves. As the story continues we start to see sprinkles of an interesting story appear but it never quite seems to grab your interest totally, however this is a first issue so maybe I’m being too harsh. Illustration style reminded me a lot of the walking dead / image comics style.

সাম্ভালা+Overdose of blood and violence+জন উইকের চেহারা = BRZRKR.
Couldn't keep me hooked.

Quite an interesting setup for the future series. It has a lot of violence and gore but personally I enjoy it so can't complain about that. I hope they'll bring more story into the next issues because basically the 1st one is an introduction so don't expect much from it. Also not surprised that there will be an adaptation with Keanu himself, he's caught a huge wave recently :D

Curious to see where this goes, but so far a fairly well-worn comic-book intro: ultimate fighter who can regenerate/never die is fighting the US government's battles for them, in exchange for some insight into who or what he really is. But this time the ultimate fighter looks a lot like Keanu Reeves, and is apparently 80,000 years old? All right, that's a new one. Show us what you've got, Keanu.

Good art by Garney.

The story idea isn't anything new but it's a still fun take on the immortal man. The captions are extremely repetitive, even if it's light on words, the content is 50% redundant.

Barely good enough for a second issue for me.

4th printing with silver cover. Glad I finally got to read this action thriller. Mature audience for sure! Another take on immortals and I am all in. The Old Guard last year was a hit and I am betting that BRZRKR by Keanu Reeves will be a super big hit (4th printing indeed).
