He took everything from me and still wants more. This time, my heart. But I’m done. For good. He’s playing a new game now.Hey, Bentley Hayworth, I’m here to show you how this game is really played. Quinn is the second book in the Love Your Enemy duet.
This is the second in the duology, and while we get some answers, others are left open. What was the point of introducing Harding in the first book, when his character is essentially replaced with Silas in this one? I was hoping for some closure with that subplot. I was also hoping for a little more excitement in the climactic parts of the book, but it was all fairly straightforward, which is why I didn’t give this book the tag of “romantic suspense”, which I usually do for books with suspense subplots. HEA?
Bentley and Quinn's duet was full of ups and downs and had lots of sadness and secrets throughout. Bentley was my first book by this author and I really enjoyed these two
I really loved Bentley and his grovel is sooo good and so sweet.
I didn't really like the h, Quinn, she kept pushing away Bentley and she wasn't really there for him as he dealt with traumatic abuse. This is not a good h in my opinion.
I almost want to reduce this to two stars for the shitty h but I liked Bentley so much that I brought it back up.
nooo this was so disappointing. the plot is all over the place and everything was repetitive and i thought bentley has A LOT OF big secrets about his father but turns out no?? it was SO DISAPPOINTING. i know he is just 17 going on 18, BUT with the way he was sooo secretive about his dark room and the photographs, i thought he was hiding something bangers to make his dad pay but noooOooo. gah
the whole books was just him bribing quinn and giving her notes😩🙂↕️ not too many actions considering. not enough groveling either i guess. idk i have mixed feelings about quinn's parents🫵🏽
i skimmed like 20% of the book towards the end cuz i couldn't careless about these people🙂↕️ very disappointing. first book was decent😩
Book #2 got a little better but not by much. Bentley’s father beat him almost all his life, was having sex with underage girls in the middle of a campain for governor and all this accusation wouldn’t be enough to put this a*hole in jail. That was annoying AF. This book was kind of a little boring but better than the 1st. I’m also rating it 3 stars.
I was invested in this story simply because I wanted to know how it played out. I was so close to DNFing this because the plot was dragged out and everything that was interesting in Bentley, no longer existed in this story. Bentley went from a great alphahole bully to an unrecognizable shell of himself, a complete simp and pussycat. This story read like your grandma's Hallmark stories. All sappy and ridiculous. The grovelling could have been more satisfactory if it wasn't so cringeworthy. I fail to understand how Bentley went from being so stoic and strong to a complete sap! I'm really upset because I was so invested. Quinn's character stayed pretty much the same and provided some angst with her reluctance to accept Bentley's apologies at face value.....this was one of the redeeming qualities of the story. I was thankful that at least Quinn's character wasn't a complete ridiculous joke.
The story basically revolves around Bentley trying to get back in Quinn's good graces through a series of cringeworthy notes that he leaves in her car every day. Also, Bentley's dad provides the villain in the story and causes problems for the couple. Eventually he is sent to jail for his crimes and the couple get together.
Although they had potential chemistry, the hookups were glossed over and not very steamy. The bonus scene with Quinn and Bentley in college was a huge WTF? It was ridiculously cringeworthy, incomplete and begs the question, what is the point?!?!?
This author has potential but needs more polish. Hopefully her next story is about Silas and Sage and she will have grown as a writer.

Characters: Quinn is supposed to be the central character of this part of the story and it actually does follow her pretty closely. Bentley has once again backed off of their relationship, making Quinn think he's back on his revenge thing. They've had a pretty impressive night at a masquerade gala followed by a night at a hotel - these kids are 17, how do they get a hotel room? Money. Quinn can't catch a clue. There's a lot going on and Bentley doesn't give up information much like other male characters never do. But, there are signs and warnings he gives her that she hears and sometimes pays attention to, and other times she is more worried about what other people are saying about her at school. I don't know, this was a bit bland for me as a character story. The besties are lackluster. The male friends deserve to be punched, except Silas who seems like a decent dude.
Plot: following this "hot steamy" hotel stay, Bentley realizes how he really feels about Quinn and wishes he could prepare her for the fall out of his plan. Once it goes down, she's rightly pissed. She doesn't want to have anything to do with Bentley but he persists. It seems the way to a teen girl's heart is shiny charms for a necklace. There's a random fucking earthquake that destroys part of the city and a side character loses a family member in it; why? To create a need for these two to have to spend a night/day together and have sex.
Overall: well, bleh. *raspberry noise* I gave this a pick and the duet a pick overall because it isn't badly written but it also isn't great. The characters really don't have a lot of change going on. Bentley doesn't grow a lot but he progresses with that; he does begin to attend therapy. There is some satisfaction in the comeuppance of the villain of the story but not enough that you feel vindicated through it. Quinn's happy life is broken apart and partially fixed by the end or on its way to being fixed. There is also an obvious setup for other characters, though I don't know if that will play out.

The premise of this story was a good one but the writer needs to be much more bold and courageous with her writing. She touches upon hard topics but shys away and glosses over them without providing and depth or breadth to the topics or characters. In short it's a high school story and sounds like it's written by a juvenile. If you want to approach hard dark topics then the writing needs to be as raw as the subject matter. After reading the first book I opened the second to see if it would improve and after 2 chapters it hasn't so I am moving on to more mature writers.
This book should have been called 'Chasing Quinn' or 'The Drag' because it went on and on. Not much happened except Bentley obsessively chased repeatedly, and Quinn found reasons to prolonged the inevitable and say no.
It was a bit exhausting.
I would have preferred one condensed book with less mush and chasing by Bentley. Going through all of day one he left, this could have been summed up in a few chapters, not an entire book two.
I was glad it was over. It was good. It just lacked the same substance of book one. This one felt like the author needed to fill up pages to justify 2 books.
Quinn's feelings barely figure. All she ever does is spend her time worrying about his feelings. Giving him everything he wants, making sure he gets to remind her over and over of how his actions made him feel.
Its a brave hero that lets her come to terms with her pain.
This one immediately made it about himself.
The book is called Quinn but did you her Bent feels bad?
Yeah, its sooooo many chapters of letters of his feelings that its sick.
I absolutely loved this book and duet!! Bentley and Quinn’s story had everything I love: drama, passion and of course, tons of angst and jealousy. The groveling Bentley did in this one was sooo good and I’m so happy Quinn didn’t give in so easily, which I love! Such great writing and story-telling, Hattie Jude really paints a vivid picture that is so entertaining. Loved everything about this duet!
Excellent development of the characters and the roller coaster ride they go through. Would have given it a 5 star rating had the story been wrapped up. Did they get married, break up, etc.?
These books were entertaining, but pretty repetitive. Needed to be a little more in depth and the ending seemed rushed. With all the security this kid was paying for you’d think the dad would have a harder time getting into the house…am I right or am I right?!?
Tame but romantic and sweet. I love how much Bentley loves Quinn. I like his chase and how he goes after winning the entire family. It’s awesome to see Bentley and Quinn win in the end.
I loved the whole story, even though it took him a while to get things back on track with Quinn. I'm glad he was also able to fix things with her mom as well.
This book was kind of unnecessary all they had to do was have a conversation and all would have been cleared up.. the grovelling literally lasted 80% of the book
