Tabby thought she'd never see her child again. Missing for eight months, all hope seemed lost in finding six-year-old Riley. But then, Tabby wakes up one morning to find a brown lunch bag on the porch. Inside is a burner phone and a picture of Riley... with a decapitated head on her lap. Now, Tabby Moss has to prove that she'll do anything to save her daughter and have her returned. She'll do whatever the fiends who are holding her captive want. No matter how sick. No matter how depraved. No matter how EVIL. It's a twisted game of life and limb, wherein Tabby must prove to a psychopath (and his hoard of online followers) that her daughter is worth saving! This is an extreme horror novel. It contains extended sequences of violence, self harm, bullying and sexual abuse that could offend sensitive readers.

This book made me grind my teeth. I'm usually sleeping when that happens, but the tension and having to read "one more chapter" kept me wide awake. Will I be able to sleep tonight? I hope so, but thanks to the author, I may need dental implants.

Nope. Nope. Nope. I’ve never dnf’d a book in my life… until this one. Absolutely cannot with this. what even was this? Not horror, just disgusting. Not one iota of fear felt, just revulsion. How is that “extreme ‘horror’” ? Look I get horror is subjective, but this was just… omifuc*ckinggodew

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

I would have probably liked this one a lot more without the 2 characters living with their heavily diseased wieners which pushed a few scenes in goofy territory that didn't fit the general tone of the book.

I really like the concept of the book, made me think of Matthew Falder one of the most evil man on the planet. Don't get me wrong I really LOVE torture porn, but I think this book needed a bit more. I mean it felt a bit rushed you get maybe one to two days in the life of Tabby. I would had like to know what happen to her child between the time she was kidnapped and the time they got in touch with her mother. I really loved the ending tho. But I didn't read the second book yet maybe I will get my answers in the sequel.

Everything you want in Splatterpunk is here: vomit, fecal matter, blood, gore, brain matter, torture porn, a smelly, disgusting, balding pig of a man, bodily fluids—the works. This is a feast for the eyes. ‘Regurgitation’ is a fitting word for books like this.

The twist about Riley made me sad. I want answers! What happened to the ‘real’ Riley, though? Also, Daddy’s death is completely underwhelming. He should’ve suffered before he died. A bullet to the head seems like a merciful death for garbage like him.

I just want everyone involved in this torture punished in the worst ways, worse than what the victims suffered. Well, I guess ‘happily ever afters’ don’t exist here.

Nicely done, Judith!

“We can figure it out, can’t we? Can’t we, Mama? We can burn my computer and… and I’ll never go back on it. I’ll pray too. I’ll even go back to church. Maybe God can make me better. Maybe he can heal me!”

His mother began to nod. A smile broke out across her craggy face. She reached out and touched his warm cheek with her right hand. “Oh, son. I don’t think God cares about you anymore.”

Emotional, raw and stomach churning- For The Sake Of is an absolute masterwork in depravity. Uncomfortable from beginning to end, but never steps over the line into trashy 'disgusting for the sake of it' territory. Paints a harrowing and grotesque but entirely compelling picture of the extremes of human behavior- exactly how far will Tabitha go to save her daughter? And, perhaps more importantly, how far will her tormentors go just to get their jollies? Judith's first foray away from the supernatural slasher format is a rousing success, just maybe don't read it before dinner, okay?

One big round of applause for Judith Sonnet 👏👏👏👏👏 simply because... she's managed to write one of the most brutal, sick and disturbing books I've read in a long time.
Wow...just bloody Wow...OMG! this was one awesome book full of extreme torture with an unbelievable well written storyline.

What a book! 136 pages of gore, violence and action. Judith doesn't waste any time jumping into the gory scenes. And I thought Edward Lee was grotesque. This book takes it to another level in a good way. Highly entertaining and not for the weak! The book had similar vibes to the movies Phone Booth and Saw.

Loved it! Can't wait to read the others in the series.

This is the third book of Sonnet’s that I’ve read (the others two were REPUGNANT and CLOWN HUNT) and this was by far my favorite.

What Tabby went through to get back her daughter was some of the most intense and disturbing horror I’ve ever read. That’s saying A LOT because I’m an avid reader of extreme horror. The only other books that affected me this way were The Summer I Died by Ryan C Thomas and The Groomer by Jon Athan.

When a writer has the capability to almost move me to tears, to set the book aside, well, that’s something very special. I have basically no triggers and can read almost anything. This book hurt me, it made me FEEL.

I loved everything about this book, but the ending, wow. *gut punch* I also thought the afterword was fantastic. I love when an author shares their feelings about the book I just read. If you think you can stomach every trigger then I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait to read more of Judith’s work. She’s definitely the Queen of Extreme!

I was actually kinda torn on whether this was a 2 or 3 star. I mean realistically it did a good job at doing a lot of the stuff it was supposed to do. As far as being extreme and grossing me out? Well yeah I don’t think I’m eating today. This is the first book to almost make me literally puke. And for that, it deserves recognition. I guess this is a good time to really say DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE A SINGLE TRIGGER. This is in my opinion, either just as bad or even worse than dead inside by chandler Morrison, as far as TW/CW’s go. If you are sensitive in any aspect, and I mean ANY (except animal death, there’s none of that in here), this is not for you. Please don’t underestimate it. Don’t assume the warnings are exaggerating. They are not. The torture in this was brutal, and well…. Pretty creative. Lots of body horror, as well. The villains in this were pretty great as well (the ones doing the torturing etc).

But that aside, I think I’m going to go with two stars. It did what it was supposed to to an extent, yes. But outside that once the shock and nausea wears away, I realize thah realistically as a book it wasn’t very good. Even for extreme horror. Because you see this author has seemed to make the mistake at thinking if it’s extreme enough it doesn’t need any substance. And I disagree. I seem to prefer extreme horrors that have layers and make me feel things other than just being grossed out or disgusted. This was Great on gore, pretty much lacking in everything else.

I think the issue is this had potential for a solid and strong plot too. And I even feel it’s how it was marketed to me. An extreme story about what people will do for those they love. It’s what the description basically says. So I expected to feel that love and desperation in the story as well too. I expected the character to feel strong, determined, and despaired.

But she didn’t. She felt like a cardboard cutout almost. Super shallow. Just going through the motions with almost no feeling or emotion. Even before the torture started or she met Daddy (guy behind all the torture lol) and his partner, I never actually felt her love for her daughter. There was just no substance there. It felt like lazy writing to me. It felt like I couldn’t be convinced of why she was even doing this. It didn’t feel like she cared. This can be said for all the characters. Daddy was the most developed, but still needed some work.

If the author wanted this to just be a gore fest, they could have done that without roping the reader into expecting more by offering such a promising storyline lol. If that makes sense? This just wasn’t what I wanted. If the author put as much energy into the emotions of tabby (the Mc) as she did gross out gore, this would have been really good.

I appreciate what she tried to do with the ending… as kind of a way to not excuse the bad people. But it just felt a little cheesy and out of place. I didn’t really enjoy it.

The writing itself was also a problem sometimes as this is FULL of grammar errors and simple typos. Once is whatever… but eventually it becomes apparent that this has never seen an actual editor. I get it’s an indie author. But indie authors should still use editors for grammar at the bare minimum.

That said, I might read the next one as I heard it’s better.

This is disgusting. This is gross. This is extreme horror. And this is definitely a Judith Sonnet book!

I am not surprised by how graphic this story is, I expect nothing less from this author, I simply didn't enjoy the story as much as I have their other stories.
Nothing wrong with the story, just not my personal favorite.

This was another book that I would have given a 1 star if that rating wasn't for DNFs. I got this because a YouTuber I follow recommended it. It was one of her favorites of 2022. I don't read horror all that often and I've been wanting to get into it more. This is an extreme horror. All of the things that happen in this book are definitely horrific however reading it it didn't come off as horror it was just over the top disgusting. When I finished it I was literally like what the hell did I just read. Needless to say extreme horror is most definitely not for me.

This novella is a lot different than what I expected. It is not a fun read. It's horrifying and emotional. Tabby will do anything to find her missing child, and I mean ANYTHING. This is a story of a group of very evil men that like games. This is a very extreme thriller, and I never saw that ending coming.

Disturbing and Intense!

This was my first read from Judith Sonnet, but it certainly will not be my last. FOR THE SAKE OF is a novel that grabs you from the beginning, then drags you kicking and screaming to its conclusion. Highly recommended for fans of extreme horror!

*4.5⭐️

wow… i mean, that was a hell of an experience with this book. i’ll definitely check out the 2nd book, that’s for damn sure.

first, i didn’t expect my name to be mentioned in the story whatsoever, it only made this story all the more impactful! in any case, i really felt for Tabby and everything she had to go through. i can’t even begin to imagine this happening in real life. i was constantly rooting for her and damn, she really had a strong will to save her child and she didn’t lie when she said she would do anything for her. 🥺

Judith Sonnet can also describe people in such a vividly disgusting way like, i was actually cringing at how gag-inducing these men were. if you read this book, you’ll see what i mean 😂 the writing style was gripping and it sucked me in completely, i couldn’t put this down. the only thing that i wasn’t a big fan of was the very last chapter, i can’t tell what it was, but i wanted it to be agonising !!!

this wasn’t by any means an entertaining book. well written? YES !! but definitely not fun. i can imagine this happening right now somewhere in the world, given that dark web is actually a thing. this book really made me feel anger towards pure evil people like that. throughout the book i wanted them all dead and ofc not an easy death, that’s just a given. so kudos to the author for making me FEEL.

if you wanna read this book, make sure to check the trigger warnings first because this book is definitely not for everyone. personally, i can’t wait to read everything Judith Sonnet writes from now on. i fucking love her. 💜

After reading Repugnant last month, I was very excited to see where Sonnet would go next.

She went DARK.

In another book that would be a great film, a very sadistic monster and his associate kidnap or otherwise procure a person they use as bait in their game.

The game? Contact a distraught parent or spouse and make them perform unspeakable acts to get their loved one back. If you don't play, your loved one is tortured and killed. All of this is recorded and sold for a price online to fans of the game.

This is the type of horror I love. There are no leaps of the imagination necessary. The monsters are human, which is what makes it so terrifying to read. The line between the fiction of this book and a potential true story is razor thin.

Sonnet again proves she knows how to write a killer ending, and while very satisfying, holy moly do you still feel emotionally disturbed after you get off this rollercoaster.

Recommended for fans of extreme horror. Those with weak stomachs need not apply.

This book is what happens when it says hold my beer to the Slob (by Aron Beauregard). The Slob had been on the top of my list for the most disgusting (well-written) book I’ve ever read. But this one takes the cake and the icing and the candles.

This book is very very extreme. I can’t wait to read the second one.

Greta's husband kidnapped, a parcel at the door, a polaroid of her husband tied to a chair, a gun to the head and a phone. The phone rang, the caller said you need to do 3 tasks or your husband will lose a limb, then his dick, then he is dead. Make your choice. Irwin obese, eats his own smegma for fun, acne scars, milky pimples dripping, fungal growths smelling like off putrid milk between his slabs of fat. He is a disgusting sick fuck who pays money to watch these depraved, heinous, games on the dark web. Daddy is the disgusting animal who creates these for his viewers. Tabby whose 6 year old girl had been kidnapped and after an extended time a parcel is at her door. Tabby now trapped in a game to show her love. How far would you go to save your daughter? Necro, killing, torturing, eating, she goes to the depths of hell to entertain some of the worst villians on paper. Judith always goes there and her brutality is unrelenting. And she can write.

Man, this book physically hurt to read. It’s fantastic, don’t get me wrong. Judith Sonnet’s writing is immersive, from the very first page I became absorbed and obsessed with the word she created. Every single second of the dehumanizing trials Tabby goes through disgusted me as much as they captivated me. These scenes felt real. It felt like I was in the room as these atrocities unfolded, just another one of the messed up voyeurs watching Daddy’s stream. Nothing about this book is easy to read, everything that happens is one gut punch after another. The situations are extremely uncomfortable, if not down right worth clenching your butthole over as you read them. The absolute worst part of all is that Tabby has to do each of these horrible things to herself. It’s one thing when you can’t stop someone from inflicting intense pain onto you, but it’s a whole new level of psychological torture to have to watch someone psych themselves up before causing physical harm to to their own flesh.

Even after my stomach churning, the gallons of sweat I wiped from my hands, and the coming and going of nausea from reading this book, I still absolutely recommend it to everyone. It’s an evil piece of media, with no glimpses of happiness whatsoever. It is for that very reason that I adore this book.
