I'd long been keen to read Swamp Fever and it did not disappoint. It would be of particular interest to those familiar with the Nelson/Golden Bay area, but enjoyable for anyone who dreams of packing up to start a new life in a remote part of New Zealand. Gerard is a talented wordsmith and this is clearly evident in his first work, a compelling read cover to cover with a good dose of humour throughout.
