Demon's Dream

Rate this book
Demon Clawing my way from the depths of hell to haunt the nightmares and steal the lives of many, I earned the name “Demon.” Hardened by a life that no one should live, I had rules that governed my existence. No caring. No intimacy. No love. And then I saw her… Dream. Beautiful. Brave. Bold. And for thirty days, she was mine. I would follow my have her body, ignore her heart. Then, she looked at me… like she knew me. Like she saw me. Like she loved me. And I knew… thirty days weren’t nearly enough.

Dream Brilliant and bad ass, I was my family’s fixer. I was the queen of negotiating and smoothing ruffled feathers. I had never met a situation I couldn’t talk us out of… until my brother crossed the wrong family and they would accept only one payment for that debt.
Me.
For thirty days, I was supposed to give myself to a man so brutal, they called him “Demon.” I had to follow his rules, honor his demands, be available to him only. When I met him, he had nightmares in his cold green eyes and an enemy’s blood splattered on his hard, inked body. How could I survive a month with a monster without losing myself?
Except… those eyes seemed to thaw a little each time he looked at me. And his chiseled body fit perfectly against mine. There was so much more to the enigma called “Demon,” so many things that made him my “Damien.” Suddenly, the only thing I was worried about losing in thirty days was my heart.

I judge books by their cover. This looking like a No Limit or Cash Money Records album cover had me skipping it. My sister recommended it because she is familiar with the author. She did not steer me wrong. This book was really good. Very entertaining. Damian and Dream were two very different characters that had an unusual love story. Witnessing it unfold was a roller coaster ride. But the author did well with tying loose ends and giving a satisfying ending that wasn’t rushed through. I like to be tired and content after I finish a book. Lol.

768 pages of absolutely 🔥🔥🔥!!! I had never heard of Elle Kayson prior to seeing this masterpiece floating around but sis set the bar high!!! I’m definitely about to deep dive into her catalog if it’s anything like this! So not let the page count deter you!!! It’s worth every single page. I did not want to live life because I was so consumed with these characters! 😩🤧

Before I go any further just know that Demon is MINES! Me him and Lake Porter have an understanding 🤣🤣! Now that we’ve cleared that up……

This book was so good I don’t even have the words to fully formulate the type of review it deserves. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll look at LOVE in ways that you’ve never imagined.

Damien “Demon” Montana was a totally complex individual. The trauma he experienced as a child was truly heartbreaking and as a result, he grew up with the coldest heart possible.

Dream Castle was the eldest daughter to a boss and force to be reckoned with Darius Castle. She was known as the fixer in the family. When her brother and only son to Darius, DeAngelo runs off and marries the daughter of an even more powerful man Dante that was already promised to another man, Dream is forced to step in and do what she does best, fix things. She has no idea that she would be promised to Dante’s brother Demon.

Whew baby if you ever question BDE!!!! Demon set the STANDARD!!!! Do you hear me!!! He is BDE through and through. He was so masculine and rough and just ugh….. everything!!🥰❤️

The book also focuses on Dayana ( Dream’s sister and DeAngelo’s twin) and Cartier “Smoke” Salinas!

That Epilogue….. EVERYTHING!!!🥰❤️🥰❤️

I don’t want to give too much away on this review! Just know that you won’t be disappointed diving into these pages! There’s a reason the book has so many 5 star reviews!!

- This book was the perfect mix between thrilling, passionate, and a true rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish! If you enjoy dark urban romances that keep you guessing, you won’t want to put this down! I neeeed a spin off with Kam ASAP!! I loved all the characters in this book and how they all felt so real. It made the book so much more engaging because there were so many pov.
- There were so many moments in this book where I literally gasped out loud and my heart rate shot up!! This book was definitely spicy but because it was so long, the plot really balanced out the spice so it didn’t overtake the entire story.
- This entire book makes you feel like you’re watching a movie! You know that the book is good when you want even more at the end of the book after reading 750+ pages!

Dream is the Castle family “fixer.” When her brother makes an impulsive decision that puts her family in a precarious situation, she makes the ultimate sacrifice to spare his life. A deal is made with the devil and Dream is the sacrificial lamb. The terms of the agreement? She must spend 30 days at the beck and call of the most dangerous man in Texas. Damien “Demon” Montana is a walking nightmare. Just his name alone reigns fear in everyone. Because of the trauma he endured as a child, Damien is a loner who does not like people unless they serve a purpose. And, even then, he still doesn’t like them. But, when Damien sees Dream for the first time, she sparks something foreign in him he didn’t know was possible to feel. Growing up, Damien was never shown love or any kind of affection so he fights, dismisses, and flat out ignores his feelings for Dream. Watching this mean surly mountain of a man, who has no feelings or emotions and gives the middle finger to love, fall for the bougie princess was the sweetest thing to witness. Dream was the peace Damien didn't know he needed. Seeing as how this book is 768 pages, you already know there’s a lot going on so I’m not giving a detailed review. Just know there’s plenty to keep you entertained and your interest peaked. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll definitely want to go upside Dream’s head more than once. The author did not skimp on the drama or the BDE and the surprise supporting characters pretty much stole the entire book. Shout out to my good sis ShadesNPages for this recommendation. Never thought I’d see the day where I’d read a 768 page book but, stranger things have happened. Demon’s Dream was entertaining as hell and I could’ve easily given it 5 stars but, the errors wouldn’t let it be great. The number of mistakes I encountered while reading this book was extremely frustrating. Incorrect word usage, misspelled words, and missing words were just the tip of the iceberg. The errors were plentiful and distracting from start to finish. I don’t understand why the author thought she could write a book with this many pages and not have an editor. Demon’s Dream was a good book but, it could’ve been a great book if the author had just gotten someone to proofread it. It’s disheartening when you have a great body of work that’s ruined by something so easily fixable. But, I digress. Demon’s Dream is my first book by Elle Kayson and, minus the errors, I really did enjoy this book. I’d recommend you add it to your TBR.

Listen, you either hate this book or love it. If you like struggle love, an insufferable male lead who has a nasty and disgusting attitude. Then this is the book for you. If not, save urself the trouble. Ugh. Anyways: the rest of this review will contain spoilers.
SPOILERS:

I have never ever read a book that pissed me off as much as how this one did. 1. The main male lead (demon) has a habit of disrespecting the female lead (dream), he cuts her off in sentences, tells her to shut up straight to her face, stalks her, makes her feel stupid, purposely goes out of his way to make her feel like shit, uses her emotions against her, threatens her, makes a scene everytime some guy touches her, caught a body for her. I could go on for days and I'm only 27% in. What pisses me off most is instead of calling him out for his bullshit behaviour dream is always weak in the knees, she literally can not stand up for herself, it makes her look so dumb cause ik she could do it. She reads everyone out on their bullshit but not demon. God. She's the epitome of a d*cked whipped woman and she been acting like this BEFORE THEY EVEN SLEPT TOGETHER. WTF. I normally always give characters the benefit of the doubt because I might be just picking at flaws but no this man is insufferable. Nothing he does is cute. Am I going crazy?
Is this book even worth the read? Absolutely not.
If the writer decides to do a book just about yana and smoke I’ll happily spend money on it but I would not recommend this book. It made my head spin and I threw my kindle in rage. I’m still so pissed off. Fuck.

I finally tackled this big bih! It was well worth the read for me. Smoke and Dayana… I loved them together. I didn’t think he was as crazy as Demon but I was wrong! Dayana could be petty af and he always had to boss up on her. I loved his parents and babygirl!

Demon… That baby needed a hug and real love. My heart went out to him on so many levels. There was so much trauma and anger packed up in the man. There was also still so much good in him. He hated feeling emotional and vulnerable and I completely understood why. My boy was just afraid of being hurt 😖. Dream pissed me off in some cases. I get it sis, you love that man and you want him to love you, but he gave what he knew how to give in ways he knew how to give it. She calmed him but she was also a trigger for him, especially when that mouth got reckless. (We all knew Demon’s mouth is worse, but sometimes she said shit that hit below that trauma belt)

Dante: it was touch and go for a minute but I grew to love the way he tried to love and care for Demon, even if he didn’t want to accept it.

Darius: 🖕🏾him.

Mama Castle: Sis did what needed to be done and that’s it!

Grandpapa: he was funny and I loved him

Bravo! Round of applause!!!

😮‍💨….where do I even start with this review? 768 pages…109 chapters….why is it that I STILL can’t get enough?! “ Demon’s Dream” was a black urban romance masterpiece! The characters, the storyline, the pace, the writing…were perfection!! We need to give Elle Kayson her flowers! 💐💐 This story was a rollercoaster ride that I did not want to get off of. It was urban romance done right! Yes the book was long but the pace flowed perfectly. I never found myself bored and the pages were not filled with meaningless details.

I’m gonna leave this review vague because I don’t want to give ANYTHING away. Just know that this book is an absolute must read. 5 stars across the board. I can’t recommend this story enough!

The While and Crazy Dysfunction…..

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Stars

This family was crazy as hell….this was an interesting tell of how Demon & Dream got together….The development of their relationship along with Dayana & Smoke’s relationship was interesting. These couples really went through it…but, I must say that Dayana & Smoke’s storyline was a little more intriguing for me.

Demon’s Dream was recommended to me by a coworker. I almost told her “hell no” because, who’s reading 700 plus pages?! Not me! She told me not to let the number of pages scare me off and I’m glad I listened. Demon’s Dream was a really really good book and I would 1000% recommend it to anyone. I don’t typically write reviews because, I don’t have time to tussle with other people whose views differ from mine but, this book was so good, I had to go against my own rule.

Love Unexpected

Whew what a rollercoaster ride.
I was a little hesitant by the multiple povs and the length of the book, but when I tell you I was locked in. I was locked in.
I was rooting for Damien's fine, mean, Killin as$ most of the book. I had to side eye his actions a few times but I mostly understood him. He loved Dream and wasn't afraid to mess up anybody about her. What started out as a deal amongst families ended up being a friendship and love nobody expected, well except Dante😏 with his love connection as$🤣 Dream and Damien took me through it and I was sick of her at a point. She was giving spoiled and I wanted her to pay attention to his actions vs worrying about some words he struggled to articulate. Ultimately I loved that he chose to heal for his family.
Smoke and Dayana was a pairing that tore up the family. Darius, Dayana and Dream's bi$#h as$ daddy, was so sick about it. I mean he was seriously crying because he was unable to use Dayana for his business😒. No one knew about their connection, and hell even he was unsure but he knew he didn't want her with anyone else. I was about sick of Smoke's conflicted as$ in the beginning. I understand the past and all that but his actions were confusing. Once he chose up though, he chose up and he showed out for her.

Sometimes you feel like characters didn't get proper revenge, but that was not the case. Revenge was served with everyone that deserved it and I appreciated that.

There were a lot of subcharacters that added a lot of flavor to the story. My faves were bad as$ Kam, GrandPapa Lucien, and sweet Jeni face ❤️Their presence was felt whenever they showed up.

Sn: if you don't like a lot of killing, do not pass go this ain't for you.

I’m a start this review by saying Cartier “Smoke” Sal is MY MAN!!! I know everyone wants Demon and y’all can have that nut 😂 because smoke is where it’s at!!

That man was the perfect amount of hood, brains, protector, boss, daddy and zaddy 😝. Losing his ex-wife really had him guarding his heart, but once he mets Dayana he knows she is different.

CHAPTER 40!!! That’s it!! When you read it let you girl know! I read that chapter 4 times alone! 😂

I don’t know what to say about Demon and Dream that hasn’t already been said. Listen, he definitely left me confused I didn’t know if I should be scared of this MF or ready to take my panties off on him. I just think he was a little too rude for my liking, I know he had a rough childhood, but bruh that does not excuse you and your inability to apologize. You’re a grown ass man!!!

The ending was cute! But I do feel as tho the last 20 chapters felt super rushed. And the story line felt kind of repetitive. I understand that dream and Dayana are sisters, but for them to basically live the exact same life down to the exact experiences,(both were virgins, who lost their virginity to murderers without letting them know they were virgins, yeah OK, and they both were kidnapped, not buying it) and everything was a little too much for me.

Definitely would recommend for sure, don’t let the size fool you either this is a very fast read and it will keep you entertained.

Firstly I wanna beat the people in the replies for giving this such high ratings, the writer for thinking this toxic ass love was cute and for Damien Montana for just existing.

If Damien has one hater it’s me.
If damien has zero haters I’m dead.

I tried so hard to love this man and this relationship but my god was this one of the most toxic relationships I’ve ever read.

Don’t even get me started on the male lead? I honestly thought he would have some kind of character development Atleast half way through the book to make me like him but I’m on 95% of the book and I hate this man with every fiber of my being.

The sad part is I had soooooo much hope for this book and was just pissed off through the entire thing.

I kid you not I probably liked the main couple 1% of the book and hated them the rest.

Not only was the ML emotionally abusive but just when i thought the FL was standing her ground against his behavior she caves in. She always caved so easily when it came to that man and that pissed me off more than the things he did sometimes.

He’s always saying mean disgusting shit to her, pulling her hair, controlling her, doesn’t stop doing things when she asks, forcing her to keep a baby she didn’t want. How is any of this romantic?

I thought the therapy would of helped but that plot line did absolutely nothing cause he did not change. And tbh I stopped caring about his trauma when he weaponized that as a way to act the way he did. Shit was annoying and that man is pure evil. He deadass knew he loved that girl and refused to say it because why? There wasn’t a valid reason. He’s been doing everything else you’re supposed to do in a relationship but he draws the line at telling her he loves her and she’s suppose to just live with that with a baby you forced on her? Nah the writer could honestly come fight me man I’m not even playing.

600 damn chapters of my time. The only reason I even gave this book a 3 star was because the writer could actually write is what she chose she do with those skills is what upsets me.

childish, emotionally-stunted young adults with too much money & guns “fall in love” (genuinely how???) but wait, there’s evil afoot lol. entertaining & ridiculous fr. I laughed out loud at so many parts, especially Smoke & Demon’s psycho inner monologues lol. the spice was tame imo but had it’s moments & the action gave Tubi movie. all the D names were overkill & the Castle sisters need therapy just as much as Demon & Smoke. overall, it was a fun, quick read & I’d recommend it to those who are into mess.

I love a psychopath thats soft only for you. 🫶🏽😭
Dream is the daughter of a powerful man but is given to Demon/Damien for a month to ‘settle a score’ thanks to her brother . She would do anything for her family but she didnt expect to be passed off to a crazy ass man.

Demon was insane but unintentionally hilarious. The stuff that came out of his mouth had me hollerin half the time because he simply does not know how to love properly.(past trauma)

he slowly grew soft for Dream and i loved how much he cares for her. I had a good time with this one i was never bored reading it .

I also enjoyed the secondary relationship as well.

Youll have to suspended your disbelief a bit & There were a coupe cringe lines/dialogue here n there & towards the end. they say some extremely foul things to eachother that i personally wouldnt be able to forgive lol but overall its a good dark romance

Sn: calling your mom “baby” is weird. Idk what that was about

Believe hype but check the TWs

This is one of the best movie/shows I’ve ever read lol. Seriously, it reads like a movie or a multi episode special premiere. It was a real emotional roller coaster. I didn’t know if I was going to love or hate every one until the end. There are a few things I personally would have liked to have differently, thing I wish would have been given less time and other things more time. But the writing style was enjoyable, it’s a lengthy read but it still manages to be fast to medium paced. It had me in a chokehold until 4am before it let me put it down for more than a few minutes. And I don’t know if it was intentional but writing light skinned black men as aggressive killers and criminals, writing dark skinned black women as soft, sheltered, deserving and in need of protection, writing black mothers who cared and nurtured and protected, it did IT for me! This was Black crime/mafia excellence and she should teach a class goes it gave all that it was supposed to and more! So glad I finally joined the cool kids club and read this book. I know I could trust those who recommended it so I saved it for when I really needed it and it didn’t disappoint!

No! I just couldn’t finish!

This wasn’t really a love story! Demon was so rude and disrespectful to Dream and she was childish! I stopped at 335 and skimmed through all to realize he never got better. Hated the way he talked to her and repeatedly told her to shut up! She was weak and allowed him to treat her like crap! Yes, the sex was 🔥 so I guess that where all the 5 stars came from. I was so sick of the back and forth between the two.
I actually liked what I read between Smoke and Dayana! Their story was better in my opinion.
I didn’t care for D’Angelo or their father! Their brother acted as if he was going to do so much if something happened to his sisters. He wasn’t 💩

I feel like I have been reading for 40 days and 40 nights, lol. It only took a day. My book bae Damien/Demon that's my boy. He had it rough, but he found the one to calm him down. Dream worked everything in me. She made me hot with her. Like me some Smoke and Yana too. I guess now it's the kids turn. I'll take it just to get more on Demon.

Omg why am I so delulu… do I want a gangsta/crazy man like Damien “Demon” Montana 🌚🤣 ? Anywho the book unlocked every emotion and in my opinion kept me hooked and didn’t grow tiresome! At first the amount of pages made my adhd want to cringe but like I said it wasn’t a drag to me and this is now another one of my favorite books!

Longest Roll coaster Ride Ever!!!

Whew!!!!! This book had me in a chokehold & I was truly locked in. It felt like I was truly on a roller coaster with all of its drops and fast paced madness. Damien “Demon” is the sexiest horror movie character 🤣 He seemed like a thugged out Michael Myers & Jason wrapped up into one.

Dream needed this type of disruption in her life because without it so much would’ve never been revealed. In a chaotic unconventional way, these two saved & changed each other’s lives. Demon FINALLY confessing his love for Dream was the ultimate reward after investing in this very LONG 750 pages.

I loved Smoke & Dayana’s story as well. Smoke chose to give in and love again & Dayana rebelled against her father and gained unconditional love.

Now for the cons 🤦🏽‍♀️ This book was very drawn out, some things were left somewhat unaddressed, & it had moments that felt very far fetched. I would’ve rated it 5 ⭐️ but felt a bit cheated by the ending. However I enjoyed it very much and must say Elle Kayson is an incredible author. This was well written and I would love to read more from her.
