'🆄🅽🆃🅸🅻 🅽🅾🆆' Is the final full length second chance romance book in 'A Love Story' duet by new to me author Carmen Rosales. This concludes Aura Rayne's & Kalum St. Claire's story. Spoken in 'dual perspectives.'

My copy of the first book in this series had so many errors so I was hoping this would be cleaner and it was 💯% better than the previous book, only one or two errors, it flowed better, sentences ended how they should’ve and made my reading experience as a whole so much more enjoyable.

This had all the FEELS, I’d had everything crossed in the hopes these two would finally reconnect and I was so happy with the outcome. They were perfection. And perfect for each other. Like a yo-yo this put me through the wringer with how our heroine was treated, I loved her heart, it was so pure, and I’m glad those closest to her saw the real her, it shone through the book and made it so easy to connect with her character.

I'm so glad we got to see the grown up version of Kalum, his possessiveness, his growth, and his love for Aura shone through the pages, I couldn't get enough of them. He had me swooning like no other, the lengths he went to, to protect the one girl who stole his heart when he was a teenager. This was how a second chance romance book should be written, I crazy loved it and am invested enough to read more by this author.

When tragedy and a pact brought them back together again..

These two were from different worlds one from money the other from a dirt poor family, but she was richer in reality because of the love that was bestowed apon her by her parents.

I've been the worst ARC reader since I got to London...This was published on September 30th I believe, and I finished the book about 10 minutes ago.

*2.75 stars *

though this was better than an ARC I gave 2.9 stars too, so maybe I should edit that

I read book 1, and I wanted to find out what happened in book 2 to conclude the duet, so I requested this ARC, even though I told myself I wasn't getting any more ARCs! Which I said to myself earlier this week when I got another ARC 😅

Aura's goody-two-shoes (spelling ?) really annoyed me. Girl, accept the money already, okay? I hate when heroines in books do that. No one should say no to free money.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what Kalum saw in her exactly besides a caring woman and a good mom, humbleness, sex appeal, and beauty. In other words, I didn't feel enough of a connection between them. It was cliche (pretend there is an accent mark there) how Aura realized she was still in love with Kalum right after they had sex.

I like a good OTT, possessive hero, but Kalum was a bad parody of one. He put his arms around the neck of a guy he was proposing to do business with because the guy was interested in Aura. Then every guy was interested in Aura. I know she's beautiful, but it was just too much. I also hate the trope girl thinks she's not pretty, but every guy does. It's okay to be a little insecure if the woman has body or image issues, but then those need to be explored more. There were parts of the book that felt like a self-insertion fantasy on behalf of the author, and this was one of them.

Another one was this line: "Janine fans herself with the manilla folder. “I’m about to cry. This is some The Notebook-type shit right there." --I got that the author thought it was really romantic & cute before she had the side character state the obvious.

I tolerated it when Aura's first son was named Lane Jr. after his father because the family was very wealthy & then Lane died, so that was nice to honor his memory. But when she and Kalum named their son Kalum Jr...I mean that's just a little pretentious 😭. The author couldn't think of any more children's names?

Below is what I'm talking about when Kalum went too far. Seriously, the threat was enough!
He leans closer, and my fists clench. “You know, you can order whatever you like. I will be more than happy to pay the bill. Maybe we could go somewhere after dinner?” he asks, giving her a wink.

Fuck it. I dismiss the waiter and I look Mike dead in the eyes. He leans back in his chair with a nervous expression. “Look at her one more time, and I swear I will take this fork and stab your eyes out. If you ever so much as look at her or talk to her, I will end you.” I reach over the table like a madman in a movie and grip him by the throat and squeeze his pathetic excuse of a neck. The utensils and empty glasses rattle on the table, and people seated at the other tables begin to gasp next to us, but I don’t care. I’m seeing red. He makes a noise trying to get air inside his lungs."

Every time I read this one line below, I can't help but burst out laughing.
She tilts her head to the side and smiles. “I would like a hot dog.” I chuckle. “A hot dog?” “Yes, please. With mustard and ketchup.” The thought of a hot dog shaped like a penis going inside her mouth has me wanting to bust out of my pants. I want to be that hot dog.

Oh god, I do not want to be that hot dog 🤣🤣🤣
I felt that the author was shaming people who eat fancier food through her characters (because of what Aura said in her inner monologue). Or it was just another self-insert thing of her food preferences.

Some scenes also ended weirdly. In one case, part of it repeated...but I'm sure that was corrected in the manuscript. This was the ARC copy, but it still needed at least two more rounds of thorough proofreading. I see that "Years" is still misspelled on the ebook up on Amazon right now, and that looks really bad since it's the first page.

There were a few really cute scenes and lines that barely saved this book from being 2 stars. For instance, when Kalum sent Aura flowers asking what the worst part of her day was, she answered, "Waking up without you; when you're not here."

But at the same time, I skimmed a little bit toward the end. For a 179-page book, it felt long. I think this book would have been so much better with more beta readers & a developmental editor because I thought the concept had so much potential. I would have liked a little more show than tell, but that would have made the story longer.

Fantastic Duet

You have to first read Until Her before this book but believe me that book was a five-star read as well. This book starts right where Until Her left off and it doesn’t miss a beat. I was taken through so much emotional turmoil and I loved every minute of it.

Kalum and his friend, Lane, fall in love with the same girl but things get complicated and Lane is the one who claimed Aura’s heart. Things don’t always work out the way you plan because life gets in the way. That’s where Kalum comes back into play. This author ripped my heart out a time or two only to put it back together with a fantastic HEA.

This is a second chance romance at its finest. I highly recommend this duet.

This duet, though enjoyable, has so much more potential to the story, but some plot line explanations felt rushed. But I’m excited to read more from this author as I couldn’t put them down.

3.75 Stars Bully stars- This was a first for me reading Carmen Rosales books. The setting was high school trope. The kids are rich and as you know can be quite bullies in romance. I thought the hero fell fast in love with the herione. Overall, I did love the storyline and felt a little teary eye at times.

Hero-Kulum St. Claire-Senior and football star at " Elite Spencer Academy" and all the girls want to be with him.

Heroine-Aura Rayne-17 year old and loses her parents..So instead of going into foster care, Kalum's agree to let her stay until she graduates. It was fast paced, a little emotional, and a good read.

Disappointing storyline. Review for both books. Spoiler alert

The story started well, and I was interested in continuing, but after, it became awful. There are many things written by the author that do not read right. First, there is no build-up of relationships between the three characters, Aura, Kallum, and Lane. Particularly between Lane and Aura, there is no chemistry. Nonetheless, throughout the book, it has moments of either holding the reader's attention or not being captivating. The reader's attention fluctuates. I was not too fond of Aura at times; she was a silly girl. I empathize with the lead female at seventeen, losing her parents and not having any family. Several situations in the book evolve and unfold; there is no explanation from the author of how it occurs. For example, how do the parents find out about Kallum and Aura? Or about Lane’s journal and that people would kill to have their hands on it. I do not understand why the author composes that and does not build on it.
I also find it dishearting that she has to live with a despicable wealthy family that uses her misfortune for their advantage. I was not fond of the writer making her constantly cry in the book; she appeared too weak. Although, at times, she stands up for herself, in my opinion, a person that mouths others does not make them strong but is petty. However, Aura was sweet, but there were moments when I thought the author could have penned Aura with a better personality. What I liked about Aura was her honesty. She explained why she was leaving the household and what his parents had done. If Aura did not explain, it would be a different turn in the story's plot. I liked Kallum. Lane, not too much. In my opinion, Lane took advantage of Aura's vulnerability. Although I think that was not the author's intention. The book contained many sentences that I found cheesy and absurd.
Sometimes I felt that Aura did not love Lane, especially when she critically compared him to Kallum. For example, she disliked that Lane called her pretty. There was a particular sentence in book two that I found to be absurd. Aura stated that she did not know of Kallum's feelings toward her. How could she? She refused to answer Kallum’s phone calls because, according to Aura, there was no reason to hear him out. Why not answer Kallum’s multiple phone calls? After all, what his parents have done was not Kallum's fault. And why did he not look for her? He knew she was with Lane. The storyline would have been better if the author had built on the plot. The reason why she gave up Kallum was because he was rich, and she was poor. Aura gave up on the love of her life for what reason? To end up being with Lane. The author gives no good reason; the only explanation is the poor girl versus the wealthy or the disbelief of not being loved by Kallum. There are a lot of assumptions from Aura but no reasons. I thought Aura and Lane were not suitable for each other. Lane was more focused on his business than her. The author penned Aura, and she appeared to the reader as she was grateful that Lane took her in when she did not have any place to go. Aura is so appreciative that gives her virginity to Lane. On top of that, she discovers she is pregnant and marries Lane. Of course, at some point, Lane either finds his true love and gives up Aura, cheats, or dies. Predictable enough is the storyline because at some point, Kallum and Aura, who both are enamored and are true soulmates, have to find each other in their lives again, although in an awkward manner. I was not too fond of the storyline, which made no sense. Poor Lane knew he was the second love in Aura's life; it appears as a love you share between a brother and sister. The plot was messy and wrong. So finally, Aura and Kallum find each other, but to establish the relationship guess what? Aura is pregnant, and Kallum proposes. Again the same story as Aura and Lane except that it is Kallum's turn, and the reader knows it is true love between them. It feels right. Now, after reading the two books, I am not interested in reading the author's other books. The author’s writing is childish and disappointing.

Aura girl come on! Stop having so much self doubt! But I don’t blame her because she’s already been through SO MUCH. After receiving devastating news and now in the spotlight, she’s in the presence of someone she thought she’d never see again. And it has her emotions all over the place. Old memories resurface as she finds herself lost and confused.

This girl has no idea how much love and support surrounds her. But soon she starts to see it. Everything starts falling into place. Such a good HEA novel 💜

𝟐.𝟓 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬 ⭐

"𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅. 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒎 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒎𝒚 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅. 𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝑲𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒎 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆."

All I can say is that Aura was one lucky chick. Come on, I get it she went through a heartbreaking loss of her parents, then thrown out of her housekeeping job in that lavish St.Claire's mansion when she just turned 18, but that girl was very fortunate to not attract just one but two most popular, rich, handsome dudes in their own right. And damn girl she got both of them too, though one was dead unfortunately, but obviously that's how she can conveniently move onto her first love.

There's so much aggravating moments but few swoonworthy moments too, so I don't want to get too deep into that. But I didn't really feel all that jazz between Kallum and Aura. I'd say this will be your cliched romantic novel with the same old obvious plot of dirt poor girl (now a single mother in book 2) gets the most sort after rich guy with some crazy drama happening until she gets her HEA.

I don't know why the author couldn't come up with a decent name for a kid, Aura and Lane's son Lane junior 🤨all right I don't want to go into that, but again to name Kallum junior for Kallum's child seriously? Does the author thought that she was being creative or something?

There's grammatical errors and some writing flaws throughout the series.

Overall, Until series by Carmen Rosales was a moderately written typical love story of when one falls for a rich guy (in h's case two rich dudes) and all the material things you'll obtain from that relationship even when you act all tough claiming self-sufficiency, and not to mention said rich guy was very much into you that he'd become your knight in shining armor. Fantasize everything that involves with this trope and here's your trashy romance book.

Disappointing

This book had so much potential. Specially considering the ending of the previous book, I had great expectations. However, it turned out to be predictable, confusing and boring.
There are several flaws in the story line, which the author never addresses. It looks like someone threw all the random ideas related to the story but forgot to remove the irrelevant ones after the story is written. That’s the feeling I got when I read this book.
-MILD SPOILERS-
Aura keeps thinking about how everyone including Lane called her just pretty, but not beautiful- so not true. I went back to the previous book and double checked it. He calls her beautiful several times!!
The dialogues are all kind of robotic full sentences, which does not suit the genre. Also there are so many typos and grammatical errors with all those long sentences!
Aura’s perspective on Lane suddenly changes in some chapters, where she thinks he always liked his cars more but in other chapters her thinking goes back to how he loved her deeply- confusing.
Aura’s perspective on Kalum from before - she unnecessarily judges him for what his parents did- annoying. Additionally in this book, Kalum says certain mean things to her, however very soon they behave like that episode never happens - confusing!
Lane and Kalum all of a sudden are portrayed as bffs - who planned their life around Aura. Does not go in line with the previous book.
Some content is repeated again and again across chapters, making it a boring read.
Lanes Journal is mentioned in the previous book, I was hoping it to give some details on his disappearance for a few months during Aura’s pregnancy. But it is ever brought up here.

Overall, I was expected high but was disappointed!!

Until Now Review

4.0 - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
3.5 - 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Until Now had my heart breaking for Aura all over again, but I was also falling right with her when she rekindled her love with Kalum. Carmen hit me right in the feels with the letters that Lane had arranged to be sent to Aura and Kalum throughout the book.

Tropes
- Second chance
- Enemies to lovers
- Friends to lovers

Until now picks up right where Until Her ended, and thank goodness I was able to dive right into it because that cliffhanger was brutal.

At the end of the first book, Lane took off after finding out Aura was pregnant. And it isn’t until this book we finally find out what it was he was up to all those months he was gone.

5 years later, Aura is reeling from the tragic loss of her husband, and comes face-to-face with an old flame. In the beginning, we realize that the reason why Kalum never comes around is because he spoke with Lane and lets her go so she can have the happiness she deserves - even though he is still in love with her. Now he has a second chance to make Aura fall in love with him again. But little does he know, she never stopped loving him either.

Some highlights

- “He said I was the lightning to his tidal wave, but the shallow waters never met what I needed. I had no choice but to let go. All that is left is the silence of the eternal sea.”

- “Aura, If he told you, I am going to tell you the words you need to hear. You have my blessing. It was always about you. We both love you, Lane Turner.”

- “Even through loss, there are still amazing and beautiful things in this life. The best part of mine was meeting and falling in love with you. I hope you love your gift and would love to be part of your journey. I love you, Aura. Happy eighteenth birthday. Love, # 68 Kalum St. Claire”

- “Sometimes, time isn’t ready when you meet the one you are destined to spend the rest of your life with. We move on, and if that person is your true love and destined to be your last, their love for you is so great, that they will love you no matter what happens this year or the next.”

I enjoyed it

I enjoyed this book better than the last one. One thing I notice is that certain decisions need more explanation and somethings are over explained and are not needed. Again, concept of the story is good but execution needs to go beyond the surface. Go deeper and explain the men’s decision. Additionally, although, it’s touted that Aura is independent, I’m just not really seeing that. And then the author badmouthed Lane Snr at one point for not spending time with Lane Jr. That seemed unnecessary to me. And then Kalum at one time called Lane his best friend after 3 other times the author had made clear that they were very cool but not best friends. And why are kids named after their fathers (just an unnecessary pet peeve of mine 👑).

wow - that was absolutely fantastic

I honestly fell in love with this book, it took me on an emotional journey- well more like an emotional roller coaster.
Aura is such an amazing women, that has integrity. She is proud of who she is and hates people spending money on her, even if it is her own husband.
Loved the scenes where Aura was at the track and the detail of little Lane listening to the engine noises to fall asleep - beautifully written.
Steamy scenes were hot, especially the boardroom 🥵
The suspense, mystery, ups and downs in this book had me not being able to put it down until the very end, I was completely captivated.
Overall a beautifully written book, disappointed that it’s the end. Would love a spin off between Judy and Cason.

This still honestly fell flat for me. I was glad to see the errors didn’t continue into this half of the duet albeit there were still a few. At least this time they did not come between my enjoyment of the book where I’d feel the need to double check myself.

I loved the more grown up Kalum. The growth, his over the top possessive behaviors. Yes, please. I loved the lengths he went through just to protect Aura? Absolutely swoon worthy.

Auras heart is truly pure between the two halves of the duet, and at times comes off a little more goodie two shoes. I also have a bone to pick with these baby names. Could we get a little more creative than juniors?

Absolutely cookie cutter second chance romance, but was still an easy read and pulled me out of a reading slump.

Until Now by Carmen Rosales

We are back to the conclusion of Until Duet. I can’t even explain to you how eager I was to get this conclusion. This book picks up right where it left us in the first book which was a bit raw and emotional. At least that is how I felt at the end of the first book. Just like the first book this book had me so invested in the story and what would happen next. I was all in from the first sentence and found myself on the esp of my seat the entire time. It was such a gripo and compelling story that I highly recommend you all read. This author has fast become one of my favorite authors.

A perfect continuation from the first book and Kalum did not disappoint! ❤❤❤

Love, love, love this duet so much. As i've said in my review for Until Her, Carmen Rosales is such an underrated writer.

But here's the thing though: this story is not without some flaws.

I wish the story and some of the dialogues are not so cliche. Even I have to admit that some of the lines gave me the cringe.

Is it just me or there was a few chapters in this one that need to be edited better? I'm no grammar or language police (hell, English isn't even my first language) but even I was able to notice those glaring mistakes, and they got a bit annoying after I kept spotting them.

I wanted more from this book. The ending was so abrupt, and could have been a little more put together. But the story of Kalum, Lane, and Aura was great. This is one of those books that I couldn't put down. There were quite a few things I don't like about the author's writing style. But. The story she told, was beautiful, and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. I definitely recommend this book.

Another example of the 2nd book blowing the first book out of the water. The appeal of these books were of course the gorgeous covers but the full circle of the 2nd book was perfection. The author did an amazing job capturing the beauty of taking over for the loss of a father and loving not only the mother but her child as well. Ugh be still my racing ;) heart.

3.75-4 ⭐️

i haven’t decided if i like this one more than the first one, but the love triangle is definitely interesting. but can it be a love triangle if one person is dead?

but i do appreciate the underlying sentiment and force that Kalum, Lane, and Exie have to support those that didn’t just get born into money

I loved the story line of this book and I had a few tears but……. I don’t know if it was the little mistakes that you sometimes get on kindle or if this book was not edited properly or just written badly. I feel like maybe it was just poor writing unfortunately. Really i wanted to give it 3 stars but because it made me cry it got the extra star.

You will not regret reading this duet. I know I will be reading more novels written by this author. If you are a fan of angsty love, this is Carmen Rosales specialty.
