This is a Romance, and this is the third book in the Kingsland Ranch series. I have read the second book in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I really loved getting to know all the characters in this book. This book does have some steamy times in this book, but this book is not as steamy as some Harlequin Desire books. I really loved the ending in this book. This was a short book, but there was so much in this short book. This book is really well written. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Desire) or author (Joanne Rock) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that. This book is scheduled to be released on August 22-2023.

When Quint goes to the Aleutian Islands in search of his estranged half-brother, the last person he expects to be drawn to is McKenna, Clayton's step-sister - and the only person who knows where he's hiding.

This was a quick read about a pair of people who butt heads a-plenty even as they acknowledge how much they like each other. I liked the wild, windswept setting of the Aleutian Islands, and learning more about how people lived in such an isolated place. The central scene where Quint and McKenna take shelter from the cyclone is written in a striking, cinematic way.

I also liked the inclusion of a revenge porn subplot in McKenna's past, and how it is handled - the author does not go into gory details, but instead focuses on how it affected McKenna's life and led to her taking going to ground in Alaska.

However, I did feel that the romance felt somewhat shallow. While McKenna is a vivid heroine, Quint felt harder to know. He was likable but somehow colorless. I also didn't quite see what drew the characters to each other so powerfully. While Quint does plenty to show McKenna how he cares for her, I didn't really know what sparked such ill-advised attraction in him towards her, and did not really feel that the characters had really fallen in love by the end of the book. I also thought the surprise pregnancy twist was kind of unnecessary as it didn't really add to the story.

Disclaimer: I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Quinton Kingsley is searching for his brother in Alaska. He goes to the bar his brother owns and finds McKenna O’Brien, McKenna is his brothers' stepsister; she will not tell him where his brother is, and he decides to stay in town anyway.
They are attracted to each other, and Quinton feels like he can't get involved with his brother's stepsister.
The Wrong Rancher
Piper Gallagher just got to town and meets Maverick Kane at the airport while waiting on her bags. Piper is in town to meet her father a man she has never meet. Piper and Maverick keep running into each other in the small town. After meeting her family, she finds they are feuding with the Kane family and have been for years.
I have read all the books in Joanne's series about the Kingsland ranch family. Both books are great reads.

Wow. These two repeatedly tried to break my heart. Both McKenna and Quinton have some painful, heavy relationship baggage in their pasts, along with some deeply complicated family dynamics. No matter how much chemistry they’re feeling for one another, they’re kind of determined to maintain their distance. Until a storm traps them together and forces them to confront all those conflicting feelings. I’m so excited to get the next installment in the Kingsland Ranch drama, and to better understand Quinton’s reasons for wanting to distance himself from the Kingsley family legacy. The painful events that brought McKenna to Alaska make me want to break fragile things, but I loved the way Quinton used his unique skills to help her with that problem. I also really loved the way this book brings the Kingsley brothers one step closer together. Now all I need, is to find out what the story is behind enigmatic Clayton. Bring on the next book!

Thank you Netgalley and Joanne Rock for the opportunity to read the eARC of Alaskan Blackout!

This book is number 3 in the Kingsland Ranch series, I haven't yet read the first 2 books but this book was great as a standalone as well!

The main characters really know how to get steamy! The attraction between Quinton and McKenna is obvious right from the start and they have some interesting banter with each other that I really enjoyed. The setting of the Aleutian Islands is breathtaking, you truly feel transported. The pregnancy twist didn't surprise me that much because many Harlequin books take that route. All in all, this was very good story and I highly recommend!

I will post my review on Netgalley, Amazon and Goodreads!

Alaskan Blackout is book three of the Kingsland Ranch series by Joanne Rock. This story works as a standalone novel, although I am curious about the other two books in the series because I didn't realise it was a series until I was reading. However, I've read Joanne Rock books in the past, which I recall that I enjoyed, the whole western/rugged romance had me intrigued as soon as I read the description.

The overarching story is kind of a usual trope, an a**h*** father has died, leaving behind three sons to sort out the mess. In this case it also includes tracking down their half brother, their father's illegitimate son from an affair, because the three sons believe that their half brothers should have been included in the will.

Quinton is one of the legitimate sons and he's been nominated to track down his half brother. While his father was a rancher and he grew up on one, Quinton doesn't like the ranch and has little interest in it. He is tech guru and works in the cyber security space. He is passionate about his work and very good at what does. Tracking down his brother brings him to the isolated Alaskan Aleutian island, where he meets his brother step sister, Mckenna.

Mckenna and Quinton do not hit it off from the start. Mckenna will do anything to protect her beloved brother from the family he doesn't want to acknowledge. However, Quinton is very different to what she expects and her feelings are warring between her love and loyalty for her brother and the man that she is intrigued by.

Without giving away too many spoilers, Quinton was a very easy character to like, with a backstory that I found reminiscent to that of Beth Dutton in the TV series Yellowstone. Except this case it seems the father was the only toxic character and so I didn't feel weird about liking Quinton.

I really liked the ending, there's a HEA and Quinton gets some closure.

Good book. Quinton is in Alaska to find his estranged half-brother but finds Clay's gorgeous red-haired stepsister instead. McKenna runs Clay's bar when he is away. She is very protective of him and refuses to tell Quint where he is. Quint and McKenna butt heads over their conflicting missions. Neither expected the intense attraction they felt for each other.

I liked Quint and McKenna. Quint is a good man who wants to ensure that Clay gets what he deserves from their father's estate. Though he grew up on the ranch, he left it behind as soon as he could, driven away by his tough, unyielding father and the memories of his mother's death. McKenna's childhood was tough until her father married Clay's mother, giving McKenna the stability she craved. Clay was there for her when her life fell apart, giving her a safe place to start over.

I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Quint and McKenna. Neither is happy about the intense attraction they feel for each other. Due to her previous relationship, McKenna has deep trust issues, and Quint feels guilty about desiring his brother's stepsister. While McKenna holds tight to her knowledge of Clay's whereabouts, she and Quint get to know each other. Quint is different than she expected, and he earns some of her trust when he offers to help her with the issue that brought her to Alaska.

Quint and McKenna can no longer resist the sparks when a storm strands them together. But guilt and insecurities pull them apart even when neither can forget the connection they felt. Time apart gives them perspective about their feelings, but there is still the issue of finding Clay to get past. There is some drama there, but I loved the ending and seeing how they resolved their conflict.

Quinton Kingsley was in Alaska in search for his half-brother, Clay when he found Clay's step-sister, McKenna O'Brien. She was extremely loyal to Clay not giving a word away where he was at the present time only that he never wanted anything to do with his brothers. Quinton had no idea what he ever did to Clay to warrant such a reaction from him, but Quinton did want to correct a wrong made by his father so he would be able to leave Kingsland Ranch far behind like he had wanted to for years. Quinton's attraction to McKenna was undeniable and during a storm they were trapped at her home not able to deny themselves any longer. He knew Clay was going to really hate him now for taking advantage of his sister, but he needed to stay long enough to find Clay and help McKenna find a creeper from her past so she could have him prosecuted for what he done to her. Would he ever find Clay? Quinton was a good man with a good heart. He just had a difficult time showing it. Being raised by the tough unyielding man he had been left many scars along with his mother's death at such a young age made him a man hard to interpret. McKenna had many knocks in her life until her father married Clay's mother giving her the first stability in life in years that was why she was so loyal to Clay. A fabulous read I could not put down.

This is the 3rd book in the “Kingsland Ranch Series.” Joanne has delivered yet again another suspenseful romantic read. The characters are believable and are great with a plot that held me captive. Quinton is a wealthy CEO cowboy. Quinton is in Alaska searching for his estranged half-brother Clay where he meets his half-brother’s best friend McKenna. McKenna has been taking Clay’s bar and home while he is away. Quinton is searching for Clay because he wants to give his brother his share of the inheritance from his deceased father. McKenna is being very tight lipped and not giving him the information, he is asking for. Clay has told McKenna how his father has treated him and McKenna is thinking that Quinton is not a good person. Quinton shows up at the bar everyday and to get McKenna to open up about the whereabouts of Clay and she is not giving out any information. As the two continue to spend time together they getting closer and feelings for each other are sizzling hot. When a storm hits and the power goes out, McKenna and Quinton find themselves stranded alone and spending the night together and sharing a passionate night together.

Where is Clay, why is McKenna being so secretive, is Clay alive, why is he not running the bar and living in his home? I know you want answers. Pick up your copy today you will not be disappointed.

I received an ARC and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

This is book three in the Kingsland Ranch series and it is Quinton and Mckenna’s story. Quinton needs to find his half-brother Clayton so he travels to Aleutian Island in Alaska only when he gets there his brother’s bar is being run by McKenna while his brother is away and he can’t seem to get any information about where his brother is but he needs to find out. McKenna has her own reasons to be in Alaska and it is not pretty at all but thankfully with her stepbrother Clayton living there it is the best place to hide out until hopefully everything blows over. Quinton and McKenna have a attraction and chemistry that is really strong and even though they try hard to not give in to it somethings are just inevitable especially when a storm knocks out the power leaving them stuck together in a blackout and that is when anything can happen. I really enjoyed reading this book and read it in one sitting while turning the pages to find out what would happen next and what the outcome would be for them. The storyline pulled you in and kept your attention throughout and I can’t wait to read more books in this series.

Joanne Rock knocks it out of the park with her latest contemporary romance, Alaskan Blackout.

Quinton Kingsley has come to Alaska to look for his missing half brother - only he finds a fiery redheaded beauty instead who is intent on keeping mum about his sibling's whereabouts. McKenna O'Brien has had far too many men take advantage of her trust in the past - and regardless of what the wealthy cowboy CEO says, she is not about to tell him where his half-brother is!

McKenna might be off-limits, but Quinton cannot deny that he finds himself drawn to her. When a storm strands the two of them together, giving into temptation quickly proves inevitable. As their feelings for one another deepen, are McKenna and Quinton willing to fight for their relationship? Or will their feelings and insecurities cost them a love that could last a lifetime?

Joanna Rock always delivers a first-rate category romance and she has done it again with Alaskan Blackout. Sexy, emotional, intense and dramatic, Alaskan Blackout is another must-read romance by Joanne Rock.

I'm so in love with Quinton!

Quinton heads to Alaska to find his reclusive brother in order to settle their father's estate, but the only one who knows how to find him is his stepsister, McKenna. While he's sticking close to her as his only lead, he also finds himself wrapped up in solving her problems with a cyber harasser and trying his best to avoid their crazy-hot chemistry.

McKenna is as loyal as can be, and she's not going to help Quinton find Clayton no matter what he does (or how well he does it). Still, neither can resist when a storm knocks out the power and traps them overnight. Forced proximity for the win! I absolutely loved these two together. I completely understood their reasons for avoiding a relationship, but with a connection like theirs, it was inevitable.

This story drew me in right away and I couldn't get enough of their romance. The HEA was perfect, the complication leading up to it was a bit of a surprise but it was beautifully handled. I'm really looking forward to reading more in this delicious series.

- Enemies to lovers
- Protector

Although this is part of the Kingsland Ranch series, this book can be read as a standalone.

After going for months trying to reach his estranged half-brother to finalize their father's estate, Quint decides to head to Alaska, his brother Clay's last know location, to try a more hands on approach. He doesn't expect to find McKenna, Clay's stunning stepsister, manning Clay's bar and refusing to divulge any information about Clay's whereabouts.

Quint is trying to show McKenna that he is nothing like his father and starts to slowly win her over by his kind deeds to the locals. Then, during a strong storm, they hunker down together during a blackout. They can no longer deny their attraction to one another. But once the power is back on, will they remain close?

Quite a compelling story. I enjoyed the descriptions of Alaska - it sounds like a beautiful place to visit!.

This is the 3rd book in the Kingsland Ranch series featuring Quinton and McKenna's passionate forbidden romance. Quinton has been trying to get in touch with his estranged half-brother Clay so that they can finalize their father's estate. After months of getting nowhere Quint decides to head out to Alaska since that's where Clay was last known to be. When he gets to the bar that his brother owns he's not prepared for McKenna Clay's gorgeous stepsister. McKenna is handling the bar and she refuses to give Quint any information about where Clay is. Quint is attracted to the fiery beauty but he can't get involved with his brother's stepsister. McKenna is also attracted to Quint but she has her own reasons for keeping the truth from the wealthy CEO cowboy. When they get stranded together during a storm will they be able to fight their sizzling chemistry? You really need to read this passionate forbidden romance to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.

Emotional, angsty goodness! Joanne Rock is pulling at our heartstrings with the third book in her Kingsland Ranch series and I loved every single minute of it. I wanted slightly more info on the back story of his father and the games he had played from the previous books to make it feel like a complete stand-alone, but having read the previous ones myself I knew the backstory and was hooked from start to finish. I'm looking forward to Clay's story!

Quinton is accomplished and sincere in wanting to right the wrongs with how some of his siblings were treated. I liked his character a lot.

McKenna is a sweetheart and very protective of her step-bro who has treated her more like family than anyone else ever has. I enjoyed watching her fall for her forever love.

I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys family drama mixed up with your romance. The series is fast paced and satisfying.

When McKenna was betrayed, she relocated to Alaska so that she could be close to her stepbrother Clayton. While he is away, she has been living in his home and managing his bar. On his request she has been trying to hold his family at a distance however that is about to come to an end when Quinton comes to town determined to track him down.

Quinton wants to make things right with his brother and isn’t about to give up even if it means spending every day in the bar and asking Mckenna questions about Clayton’s whereabouts. As they spend time together the sparks fly and now, they must not only deal with her brother but the fact that his time in Alaska has a time limit.

McKenna is feisty and protective of the one person she calls family while Quinton does make some mistakes along the way but when it really matters he is man that she needs him to be. I am enjoying getting to know this family and am looking forward to more of their stories.

This is the third book in the Kingsland Ranch series. You can read it as a standalone but it is connected to the two books. All Quinton wants to do is give Clay his share of the Kingsley inheritance, trying to make right what his dad messed up by cutting Clay out of the will. Since Clay is avoiding the family Quinton decides to go to Alaska find him but he finds McKenna instead. McKenna is hiding out in Alaska after having her life destroyed by a vengeful ex. She's very protective of Clay and refuses to tell the Kingsley's where he is. Quinton's is afraid of losing someone he loves so he avoids attachments. McKenna should be off limits but he's drawn to her. McKenna and Quinton's story is steamy, I couldn't put it down I've really enjoyed this series. I'd love to see Clay get a story. Alaskan Blackout by Joanne Rock welcomes us back to the Kingsley Family and Quinton’s drive to find his missing brother, Clayton. Quinton only wants to reconnect and give Quinton the inheritance he deserves but he runs across Quinton’s stepsister, McKenna O’Brien. Quinton’s determined to wear her down to reveal where Clay is so they can work things out. McKenna’s equally determined to keep any of the Kingsleys away from the only brother she’s ever known, the man who helped her get out of her darkest hour. Quint and McKenna end up spending time together and can’t fight the chemistry between them. I love the rustic setting and the final showdown between Quint and Clay. Joanne clearly knows how to showcase the best side of her characters. I can’t wait for the next book.

Quinton is searching for his half-brother Clay in Alaska and finds Clays step-sister McKenna running the bar instead. She is the key to finding Clay, who is adamant about not having anything to do with his father and brothers. During a blackout, McKenna and Quinton become closer and everything turns sideways for her. Loved the characters, the vivid locales and how they reconnect. The storyline was a roller coaster ride of emotions and events but heartwarming as well. The ending was fantastic and can not wait to read more of this group.

This book was a decent story, but the characters were nice but kind of bland. The plot was also a little weak. The dialogue was good. The reason why McKenna was hiding out in Alaska was I think was alluded to being resolved, but I would have liked to know for sure. I haven't read the earlier books in this series, so I can't speak to how this book built on the previous ones (esp if Quinton's personality was developed more in those books). Overall, an ok book. * I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Quinton Kingsley heads to Alaska to find his half-brother and give him what he is entitled to after their fathers death. He and his brothers didn’t agree with their fathers will and have decided to gift Clayton his 1/3 share. Plus Quinton doesn’t want any part of the cattle ranch. While searching for Clay, he meets Mckenna, Clay’s step-sister. She refuses to reveal Clay’s location to Quinton even though the chemistry between them is strong. Good storyline and wonderful characters.

Alaskan Blackout is book 3 in the Kingsland Ranch series, I have only read book 2 though they can be read as a standalone.
This story follows Quinton Kingsley who is searching for his brother in Alaska. Before he finds his brother, he comes across McKenna O’Brien, who happens to be his brother's stepsister and is coy as to where his brother is.
McKenna should be off-limits for loads of reasons, but will their attraction pull them together?
This book has been written well, with steamy scenes in parts as well as emotions that the reader feels too.
Great book, which I do recommend.

In the 3rd book of this series Quinton Kingsley is looking for his brother Clay in Alaska Outback. Instead he runs into Clay's step sister McKenna. Both Quinton and McKenna are headstrong and both are determine to protect Clay and fight their attraction. I like getting to know more about Alaska, but I felt that their romance was rushed.

finding Quinton's half brother to right a wrong in Alaska of all places - when he meets McKenna and finds that she too is a half sibling to Clay - they don't see eye to eye as Clay is gone and she's not telling where - then the cyclone hits - and you need to read it to find out the rest - Joann's stories as always well written!!.

Both are a no go zone due to their families, however you can only fight attraction for so long and these two have a ton of attraction going on! You are kept wondering can their attraction turn into more when her family has what he say is rightly his making you go through some highs and lows as well as have mixed feeling at times, but also some laughs and an ending worth all they went through.

Quinton went to Alaska searching for his lost half brother Clayton and didn’t expect to fall for McKenna, who was brave talking on a new life after her ex ruined her old one. He spent several weeks trying to get information out of her and her bar patrons and their romance develops quickly. I loved her pets and the closeness of her customers couldn’t imagine living in those types of weather conditions.

Their brothers connects them.

Quint, a very arrogant Kingsley, is in Alaska, looking for his half brother Clay. He doesn’t know him at all. He doesn’t to know him either, he just wants to give him guilt money.

McKenna O’Brien is super protective of Clay, her stepbrother and only living family. She’s wounded but feisty and is distrustful of Quinton. They are definitely on opposites sides.

Recommend.

I think this is my favorite "Kingsland Ranch" story. Although this is the third story in the "Kingsland Ranch" series it can be read as a stand alone one. It is about Quint and McKenna. Quint goes to find his half brother Clayton. His last known address is a bar being run McKenna. She happens to know where Clay is but keeps it quiet. She happens to also be Clay's step-sister. The sparks definitely fly between these two people. I enjoyed how the story develops and unfolds.
