Stubborn as a Mule
Sylvie is incredibly stubborn and it's going to be her downfall if things don't change... and fast. It takes no time for danger to appear. While I appreciate the fight in her, it made me realize that she's been on her own for too long and without a local support system.
His approach may be a tad overbearing, but it was nice to see that her brother, half a world away, wants to help and does what he can by phoning a friend for help. Enter Karden.
Karden and Sylvie have as much animosity flowing as they do chemistry. OK, so it's mostly Sylvie. LOL! Girl has some seriously pent up anger.
I do like Karden a lot and love his plans for getting through to her and helping her not only solve the problem that brought him to her doorstep, but also give her a way to let go of other causes of her frustration. It might be a bit heavy-handed but appropriate.
Oh, I also liked the soft introduction to another trio of men formerly in PsySpecOps. Mmm.... 😍 And Kiki is awesome! 🐺

Karden is SOOOO Hot!
The multiauthor Everything’s Bigger in Texas series is bringin the heat, but Kameron Claire’s “Big, Bad & Broken” is O…M…G…hot! Karden has the whole alpha growly military vet thing going on in a sexy-as-sin package. Add in his brave K9 vet sidekick, Kiki, and we have panty-melting perfection, folks! Sylvie is a beautiful, stubborn, independent woman, and she’s not the easiest character to love, but she’s honestly really relatable because we all have baggage that makes us dig in our heels or do something kinda reckless. There’s all kinds of chemistry, a bit of danger, and some great characters in this one. And for loyal fans of Claire’s work, there are so many little ties to various other stories in her Spring City, Colorado world. Looking forward to more!

It's a very good romance by the context around the meeting of Sylvie and Karden: she clings to the past of life with her parents's bar, with her absent brother, and she finds herself confronted with a criminal gang ready to anything to grab her property.
Her resentment towards her brother, the fact that he seeks to protect her against her own opinion and her problems for her bar, make her meeting with Karden tumultuous and these two souls, rather broken in their eyes, discover each other, clash. The story is therefore tumultuous, full of action, a touch of tenderness and rather hot.

'Not a woman. My little sister'
I am not sure who is more broken Sylvie or Karden, they both have baggage that they have carried since childhood, but falling in love makes you want to be a better person, for them, for your future and for the kids you may have. Watching Sylvie battle her demons and accept the help Karden offers is tough, but she finally realises that her life is on the line and she wants to fight, to live, to love.
A great read on Kindle Unlimited and Kiki is a gorgeous bonus to this book.

I have to admit that I struggled with this story. I loved the characters but I really had a hard time with the dominant way that Karden had with Sylvie. This was a woman who had been threatened and mistreated her whole life and instead of supporting her, she got bossed around by her brother and then her boyfriend. The dynamic was an issue for me. Plenty of chemistry between them and I loved the story but the way he responded to Sylvie was a problem for me.

A halo may never fit around her horns but he is still determined to make her his angel
Mine to Protect is the seventh book in the Veteran K9 Team series. This story was originally released in January 2023 by Kameron Claire as Big, Bad & Broken, part of the multi-author Everything's Bigger in Texas series. I originally read and reviewed the story at that point and loved it. I have reread it now that it is part of the VK9 series and continued to love it. So my original review stands.....
What can I say except that I LOVED this story about Sylvie Santiago and Karden, and then add in Kiki also. Sylvie is so feisty and independent that her brother has a perfect nickname for her "Demon". They may not have a particularly close relationship, as he split to join the Army as soon as he graduated high school leaving her with a bad situation as she grew up, but that does not mean he will not protect her. Things are not right in their small Texas town where Sylvie owns and runs the family bar, inherited from her father when he passed several years ago. Saint knows that something is wrong so a quick call to his friend who is now a police officer and he learns the real truth. One more call to his Army buddy Karden, now retired with his service dog Kiki, is all it takes to see Karden loading up and driving down to Texas. He is not sure what he is walking into but he quickly finds out that Demon is an apt nickname, and that Sylvie is in need of some saving even if she does not think so.
This story has it all.....action, mystery, suspense, danger, family, emotion, love, some sizzling hot passion to rival the Texas sun, and a dog to top it all off. I really loved this book and would definitely say it is a RECOMMENDED READ!!!, as are all the books in this fantastic series.

Part of the Veteran K9 Team series each can be read as a standalone with a retired military sexy and the one he protects. Sylvie is a bad a** she is strong has been taking care of herself for a long time especially after losing her parents, her brother being deployed, running the family bar isn’t easy but she has made it work until she is being forced to sell it by any means necessary even if it means they kill her to get the property. When she tells her brother about it he sends her help by way of one of his military buddies who can and will protect her rather she wants him to or not. Karden sexy as all get out retired military loves his military brothers will die for them, will protect them, their family is his family so when he gets the call of course he heads on down to the bar, the moment he see his buddies sister he knows they are meant to be but convincing her just to let him help is hard enough but fate other plans. The magnetic pull between the two them can’t be ignored despite their hesitation of not knowing how her brother would feel about it but when danger come the stronger the pull between them grows he isn’t going to let anything happen to his girl but will her brother be okay with it all, will h be able to protect her, will she keep her bar, why do they want her bar so badly, who wants her bar, will she accept what is growing between them, and can they have something more than protection more like happiness?

Part of the Everything is Bigger in Texas series. Sylvie is hanging on by a thread and being stubborn about hanging to what’s left of her family. Her brother is soon getting out of the military and will be home in four months but there’s so much going on now that four months may be too late. When Karden gets a call from his best friend wanting him to go check in and protect his sister he’s not ready for her or the situation. Sure, he’s got the reinforcements but he’s not prepared for how he feels for Sylvie. Sylvie and Karden have great chemistry and are wonderful together. Both come from broken childhoods and have a lot of emotional PTSD. This was a steamy read. Sylvie was hardworking and use to being on her own and looking after herself. Karden was protective and urged Sylvie to get the help she needed. Loved Kiki! I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sylvie comes from a kind of broken household and now she has only her big brother that is currently serving in the army and overseas. She has problems with guys that want to buy her bar and their threats are getting heavier and heavier. Karden is a former K9 soldier and best friends with Sylvies brother, when he gets tasked with protecting Sylvie his whole life changes. The feisty and fiercely independent woman breaks his tough exterior and he falls hard and fast for the kind of broken woman. I really loved how Karden just knew what his woman needed and how he helped her through her troubles and complicated feelings. It was a really great story that pulled on my heartstrings 🥰🥰 An awesome story with steam, romance, action, danger.t was fun to read, safe and with a great HEA😍😍😍😍😍

Sylvie Santiago was forced to grow up before her time. Her mother passed, when she was fourteen, and she had to take over all the duties her mother was responsible for doing at home. Her brother, Saint left for the military two weeks after that so there no one left home, but Sylvie and her dad with him being killed in an accident seven years later. She blamed Saint for leaving her behind to handle all the crazy of their lives alone. Saint attempted to do what he could from where he was, but she was harboring a deep seated resentment against him. He would be leaving the military soon, and he wanted her to sell everything in Rizona, Texas and move with him to Spring City, Colorado so they could be together. The little town of Rizona was slowly dying. The Lupino Brothers wanted to buy the bar, but Sylvie did not want to sell it, and they decided to use strong arm methods on her. Unfortunately, they tipped their hand where Saint found out, and he called in his friend, Karden Billings for reinforcement. Karden knew the moment he set eyes on Sylvie that she was the one for him. He was in way over his head. When he met the Lupino Brothers, he knew, they were in real trouble. He realized the brothers' were hard-core front men for some organization, and they needed to get out of town fast as they would stop at nothing to get what they wanted. Sylvie soon understood, she needed to leave town, and she was falling for Karden. There were some extremely interesting characters in this story. They may have only had one scene, but it was memorable. Deputy Sheriff, Doyle had a charm all his own. I had hoped, he would go to Spring City too. The ending was disappointing to for me as it felt like there was no conclusion. It had been a fabulous story with lots of action and plenty of excitement including Karden and Sylvie finding love. They even got Saint home but not one loose end was tied up back in Rizona or with Saint.

Sylvie Santiago, Little Saint or Demon as her brother calls her owns a hole in the wall bar previously owned by their father. Since it was her father’s and she owns the building and land, Sylvie doesn’t want to sell. Her older brother nicknamed Saint, is deployed as an Army Ranger. When he’s done with his tour in 4 months, he plans on moving to Spring City Colorado and wants Sylvie to move with him.
Karden is one of Saint’s Army buddies who is already in Spring City. Janey runs the Veterans K9 Training Center. She’s also ex military. This exciting action packed suspense filled romance story.The story will keep you on the edge of your seats and the characters will captivate you.Sylvie is having trouble with men trying to force her into selling her bar.But she keeps refusing. She's on the Skype call with her deployed brother when they come in threatening her Saint asks what's going on when one of the men slams the computer lid down.He threatens her again and says he'll even take from her what she didn't give him.Saint calls his friend and brother in arms telling him he needs a favor when Karden says what's up he says some men are threatening his sister and she didn't tell him but the sheriff told him they destroyed al.most her whole bar.Karden says he and Kiki will be on the road in under anhour.When he sees the photo of Saints sister Karden Brown's out loud no wonder he never showed anyone his sisters picture because she's gorgeous.there are so many twists and turns to this story yoh will be riveted until the very last page.I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.

This book is a part of the Everything's Bigger in Texas series and focuses on Karden and Sylvie. Sylvie has spent her life being independent and unable to rely on others to be there for her. She has resented her brother for leaving their hometown right after their mom’s death and staying away for the better part of 10 years. When she runs into serious issues with people wanting to buy her family’s bar from her, she is incredibly reluctant to accept any help from her brother or even to let him know the full extent of the problem. She doesn’t want to leave behind the last piece of her parents that she has. Her brother calls Karden to come and help her out and when he meets her there is an immediate attraction and connection between the two of them. Sylvie is stubborn as a mule and tries her best to push Karden away in the beginning. Thankfully Karden doesn’t let Sylvie get away with that and pushes her to let him in and trust in him. This was a great story and a great addition to the series!.

When Karden got a call from his Army buddy Saint to head to Texas to protect his little sister Karden doesn't question it he just packs up and goes. Sylvie has been running the family bar and is having trouble with some new locals who want her to sell the bar to them and she's already told them no. I loved how protective Karden was and how he knew how to handle her problem. These two broken souls never imagined falling for each other but they did and getting their happily ever after made their journey of love that much sweeter. Big, Bad and Broken is part of the multi-author series Everything's Bigger in Texas and I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Wow, what a great read! Sylvie and Karden were absolutely incredible together! Sylvie was such a hardened tough girl from being left on her own her entire life. Even though her older brother cared about her, she could never get over feeling like he abandoned her when he joined the military. When she was threatened, he sent one of his buddies to protect her, she immediately clashes with him, but the attraction -- WOW -- these two have chemistry for days! I loved how protective and possessive Karden was and how perfect these two were for each other. Karden instinctively knew exactly what Sylvie needed to make her feel safe, protected, and loved. This is a short romance with a bit of action. Karden is a K-9 handler and is asked by a buddy to check on his sister. Sylvie is defensive and pushes people away, but Karden sees past her walls and wants to help her and be welcomed into her life. She is having troubles with a cartel so Karden and some associates take care of the immediate threat, and he takes her back to his home in Colorado where she will be safe.
Since this is short, they get involved and serious pretty quickly. Karden convinces Sylvie to get therapy to help her get over her issues and they work to build a long-term relationship together.

Sylvie “Demon” has had it rough growing up and she is surly, mouthy, and determined to be independent. Karden comes to her rescue at her brother’s request and it’s an instant physical attraction for both. They both are damaged but with danger pushing them together Sylvie relents enough to leave with Karden for a safer place. Kameron does a great job developing these characters and there are some appearances of previous characters that helps enrich this story. The sexy scenes are steamy, exciting, and reveal caring and love on both sides.

I really enjoyed this story by Kameron Claire. I couldn’t put it down. I loved the interactions between Sylvie and Karden. Sylvie is in trouble but doesn’t want her brother to know. He is deployed and she wants him to stay focused over there. So he calls an old Army buddy to protect her. Karden didn’t know what to expect when he meets Sylvie. He knows that he should probably stay away from her but he can’t deny the attraction to her. Sylvie doesn’t want anyone’s help but she knows that she is in over her head. Will he be able to keep her safe?

Sylvie is Saint’s little sister and when he finds out that she is in trouble he sends in reinforcement in the form of his best friend Karden to her. Sylvie is an alpha of a woman and doesn’t back down from anything. Sylvie is being threaten to sell her bar. Sylvie receives help from her brother’s best friend Karden and his dog Kiki of which she does want and she feels that she can handle trouble. Karden and Sylvie have an instantly attracted to each other and Sylvie gives in just a little bit to stay safe. These two are great together. I so love their chemistry and Sylvie’s determination.

Her being in danger brings out the protective instincts. There is a bad element in town trying to get her to sell the bar. Her brother wants her to sell and move to Colorado with him.

Sylvie is stubborn, pigheaded, and refuses to let go of something that she doesn't need to hold onto especially when it threatens her life. When big brother Saint sends his army brother to her to keep her safe...he ends up doing a little more than that.

Wow! Talk about an exciting story. Karden is sent to Texas by his friend Saint to protect Sylvie when he hears her being threatened while on a Skype call while he is Afghanistan for his country. Karden is instantly attracted to Sylvie and knows she is his, but first he has to get her away from the danger she is in. A great story full of action and steamy moments.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Sylvie is in trouble and when her brother finds out, he sends Karden and his dog, Kiki. Sparks fly between Sylvie and Karden but he does what he needs to before claiming her. The trouble is not nice at all and although she is not there anymore, it is not over. However she can start over with Karden in his town.

I had a huge rant but I don't even care enough about this book to bother typing it.
If you like misogyny disguised as "protective alpha male" then enjoy. The FMC is dealing with her own trauma and abandonment issues but the men in her life (brother, MMC) just mansplain and expect her to follow. And when she doesn't immediately do what they want?? The MMC gets aggressive... but it's okay cause he's right and she's a brat.

Intriguing storyline with many characters that all have a small connection either thru friends, serving military or family. Liked how they all step up and help when needed, even when that person in need is being stubborn. Enjoyed Kaden’s patience in helping Sylvie dealing with her problems and giving her the encouragement to seek therapy and forgive in order to move from the past and see the future in front of them.
