It's hard being the most popular girl on the ice planet. The alien men are falling all over themselves to impress me in the hopes that I'll take them to my furs. But they don't know my secrets. And they don't realize that behind my smile, I just wish they'd take their courting presents and their competitions for my affection and go away. I want to be left alone. But on a planet where women are a scarcity, that won't be happening.

If I had to choose a mate . . . it'd be someone with a gorgeous blue body, big horns, and the most intense gaze ever. Someone who knows the truth of what happened to me and why I don't like attention. Patient, handsome Salukh knows my secrets. He knows why I have nightmares and why I don't trust anyone. He's willing to let me "experiment" with him. I can use him. Take what I need from him to work through my trauma. He's been a good friend and the best shoulder to cry on.

I really liked this one, especially H-Alien. Yes, I am calling the lead H in this one Alien-H.

Because I refuse to go and check the spelling on all these names because, well, LAZY.

description

But anySululksomethingorother, I really liked this one. And while I actually did like Tiffany, I didn't like how she handed the whole "competition" thing.

I actually felt bad for all of those poor, horny yahoos.

description

They just wanna get some.

Now, I get that Tiffany had been through some ish - and verra legit ish, mind you - but when it comes to my smut alien barbarian books?

I don't want to hear "I'm scared of being touched, because TRAUMA."

I wanna hear:

description

I know, I know.

description

So callous, so slutty, so shallow, so...

GUILTY.

AS.

CHARGED.

description

Not only that, but I found myself trying to push Tiffany and her Alien-H off the page so I could see what was going on with Josie - and I coudn't STAND Josie in the previous books.

But her and Haeden's (see I like him enough to remember his name) little side hate-mance really got to me over the course of the previous books. And after reading about all of the things that have happened to Josie and how she still has a happy mood and hope for something better? I'm rooting for her and can't wait to read her book.

Tiffany may look that she is a girl who likes torturing our super-sweet, super-needy blue barbarians who keep bringing her food and gifts, but deep down she is a damaged girl who just wants to be left alone. After being brutally raped by the aliens who stole her, she is just scared of all the males.

Her best friend, Josie, decides to help her. So Josie sets up a few made-up courting games for the males who are interesting in Tiffany. Whoever wins, he can accompany Tiffany to the Elder’s Cave. Thus, males leave Tiffany alone and they concentrate on the games for many days.
I did not really like this part of the book and I almost did not like the story because of the stupid games!

Salukh knew that Tiffany is his mate since they have first met, but he does not want to scare her. So he is trying to just be her friend for the time being until his stupid khui decides to cooperate and it resonates to her. As a result he does not participate to the courting games.

Actually, the weird conversations Salukh has with his khui from time from time were bringing tears in my eyes from laughter:

There is our mate, I tell it. See how lovely she is? How fragile? I need to resonate for her. I need to claim her, to protect her.
Tee-fah-nee is mine.
Resonate.
Resonate.
Resonate so I may claim her.
But my khui is silent, the traitor, as I walk up to her.

Salukh and Tiffany have a long way to go to find happiness together. I loved the fact that the resonating took so much time to start. I loved the way Salukh looks after Tiffany and how he persuades her that she belongs with him – even before the khui starts singing.
Salukh .... I think I have just discovered my new favorite alien…

5 Tiffany and Salukh Stars

May Have Mild Spoilers

I just love this series so much. 6 Books in and I can't get enough of these big delicious blue Aliens. Barbarian's Prize was Salukh, who was pretty unknown and hard working Tiffany's story. Tiffany was so popular, and seemed to take easy to the skills needed for life on not-hoth, so it was a shock to learn she was fighting her own demons.

Salukh was so sweet. I loved that he seen and loved Tiffany because of her and not just because she could have babies. He was supportive, understanding, and protective. He befriended her and gave her the space and care she needed to deal with her past. He never rushed her or made her feel bad for her fears. He was the perfect mate. Tiffany was so strong. I learned things about her and her past that just broke my heart. I loved that instead of falling apart she learned the skills she needed to live and worked hard to make life better. Tiffany was very smart and determined. She was an independent and private person, but she had deep friendships with Josie and Salukh.

I thought Salukh and Tiffany were adorable together. There was such a strong connection between them. On the other hand I was really annoyed with the other males that wanted to court Tiffany. They didn't really like her just the idea of a mate and it bugged me. I also didn't like the way Tiffany handled the whole "competition" thing either. I loved Josie in this book. I have always liked her, but in this one I really felt for her. Everyone acted like she was annoying, the guys don't seem to want her, and her past life sucked. I want her to have a great HEA. Haeden was much harder to read. I think he liked Josie but he was so rude it's hard to tell. I can't wait for the next book to see how Haeden and Josie do together.

Although I admit that I've never read any other alien-smut, and probably never will, this series is so fun! I love those big blue guys! They are absolutely charming!

bring on the blue boys!

So, in this one, we get Tiffany and Salukh. Tiffany was assaulted by the kidnapping aliens and is totally not on board with her Cootie picking out a mate for her. She's afraid of men and doesn't want one touching her. Unfortunately, for her, her standoffishness is actually making even more big blue aliens wanting to be her main man. Main-alien. Whatever... They are falling all over themselves to get her attention and make her happy.

But, Salukh is smarter. He becomes her good friend and slowly wins her over. He is a sweetie pie!

Not Hoth is filled with awesomeness

He even gets her a baby animal to take care of as a pet. It is ponyish and is named Chompy because he bites everyone. He also eats their shoes and anything else he gets hold of. Sounds like my Chocolate Lab. Every once in a while she will barf up a sock. Why in the world is she eating socks, you may ask? She eats everything. I dropped a puzzle piece and she ate it so quick there was no time to rescue it. Along with water bottle lids, straws, napkins... anything that lands on the floor. She totally doesn't obey the "5 second rule". ... I think she's half goat or something. Anyway, she's probably related to Chompy somehow.

Dammit Chompy! You ruined Christmas again!

Although a lot of people found Tiffany annoying, I didn't mind her. I thought she was justified in her fears and she really tried to get over it. Salukh was really awesome in how he handled her fears. These blue aliens are the perfect men. Aliens. Whatever...

I also really started liking Josie in this book. I can't wait for her story next.

This here is everything i want and more! Me and mr innocent dirty mouth virgin submissive blue man get along so good.

Definitely one of the most highlighted book so far in the series, Salukh is definitely on the top 5 list!(14 books to go i guess?)

Miss Ruby just gets me, this genre of men is made for me.
I am addicted to this universe, writing style and characters. I will be fighting anyone saying anything against my blue men because as the smut is serving, each book has amazing different tropes and the plot is there and it’s fun.

This one actually discussed a very sensitive topic (pstd, rape) this one healed me! So i am coming after anyone who makes fun of these books!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

I swear, these stories get better and better with each installment.

It's no secret that my most beloved blue alien of all time is Raahosh - if you did not know it, Raahosh is MINE - And this story very nearly knocked my beloved Raahosh off the top spot! Very nearly! Oh who am I kidding, I want them all, but I'm trying not to be greedy here.

Our big blue alien hero in this installment is Salukh. He's a sweetheart and he has a heart of gold. He has elements of all the other aliens that have come before him. He's basically my big blue alien wet dream come to life.

He has the patience of Aehako, the tonguing obsession of Vektal, the possessiveness of Rukh, the confidence of Ereven and the amazing tactile tendencies of Raahosh. And the cherry on top?

*swoon*

Tiffany was our leading lady in this. She was a little annoying with all her I don't want to make anyone upset so I make problems for myself, oh noes, so much drama-llama. She was constantly worrying about things that were beyond her control and it was a bit grating that it went on for so long. I understand that she was dealing with past trauma but I did find her a little annoying.

Be aware that the magical healing peen is at work in this book. But I'm allowing it, because I love this series and everything about it.

The sexytimes in this. PHWOAR. Very imaginative and I feel like the whole thing was a little bit dirtier than the last few, but that's totally fine by me. The raahoshing scene in this was out of this world. MORE RAAHOSHING PLEASE.

I read this in a single sitting. Why do I always do this to myself? I wait months and months for the next one to be released and then I demolish it too fast. I can't wait for the next one to come out! I need Josie and Haeden's story like yesterday, please!

I love you Not-Hoth. I LOVE YOU RUBY DIXON.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: 😌😎🙃😮

The heroine: Tiffany - she has PTSD from what happened to her on the alien spaceship before it crashed and killed all the aliens. In her nightmares she wakes up in a cage filled with dirty human females and gets taken out by an alien and taken to another room where terrible things were done to her. She lives in terror of resonance because of what happened to her. Though Tiffany is one of the most popular females and she is a hard worker.

The Hero(es): Salukh - he knows from the start that Tiffany is for him. She has four other Sa-Qhui males fighting for her affections, but he knows that even though resonance hasn’t hit for him, that Tiffany is his mate and Resonance will eventually catch up to what he knows.

The Story: Tiffany is afraid that she might eventually resonate with one of the males that is constantly coming up to her. She fears when that happens, she might be forced against her will like she was on the alien spaceship. The four guys start to really get on her nerves the way they constantly come up to her with offerings and gifts from their hunting trips, much more than she can use.

Tiffany feels differently about Salukh since he hangs back and doesn’t constantly bother her. He watches her and spends time with her when she is in the right mood. He talks to her and learns about her while the others just want something from her. She feels that Salukh is her friend and asks him to help her overcome her fears.

The book is told in dual points of view and using dual narration. Mason Lloyd and Hollie Jackson do the narration and do a great job as usual. I love how Mason does the stilted speech for the males. It sounds like they are just getting used to speaking English so it sounds more authentic.

The story is a good one and there is lots of romance in this one. Since Salukh is helping Tiffany learn to accept kisses and touches again, there is a ton of foreplay and steam in this book. The story is good, I liked the trip they take and how their story evolves.

(3.5 stars, rounded down to 3.)

After reading Barbarian's Prize again, I decided to downgrade from 4 stars to 3. Why? I'll tell you later.

First, let's talk about what worked for me, and all I have to say to that is one thing: Salukh . He was so freaking dreamy. Think of all the positive traits you'd ever want in a partner, and he has them all. He also has a hot, muscular bod, with a matching impressive, ginormous—
description

*cough*

Sorry, where was I? Oh, yeah. Salukh was everything you'd ever want in a hero.

Which brings me to what didn't work for me: Tiffany . She wasn't as well-written as the other gals in the series, and I absolutely hated how inconsistent she was throughout the book. She came off as extremely weak in some parts, and totally adventurous or strong in others. I get that is a difficult topic to handle, but I've read enough books to know that it can be executed well, without the heroine coming off as annoyingly wishy-washy. What really put me off was how quickly she decided to , especially with the amount of time dedicated to her earlier on in the book.

Oh, well. This may not be my favourite, but it was still a great read. Definitely highly recommended for all you alien lovers out there.

AND NOW WE WAIT FOR JOSIE'S STORY.

FUCK, AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO IS SUPER SHIPPING JOSIE AND HAEDEN? LIKE, I REALLY FANGIRLED WHEN THEY RESONATED. HOLY HELL. I think Josie and Haeden's story is the Not-Hoth version of Pride and Prejudice. I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT FUCKING WAIT.

3.5/5

I couldn't help myself comparing this book with Barbarian Mine. For the fact that when I finished Barbarian Mine, I felt like the flowers were blooming in my heart. I was very happy so I had high expectations for this one. I eagerly jumped into Barbarian's Prize in hopes that it would brighten up my day, too. But it turned out a little bit different from what I thought it would be.

The story started off somewhat slow. But as soon as I started to get bored, oh my, Salukh’s dirty-talking and masturbation set me on fire! And then I had been blinded by his package sweetness. But why, oh why! Why did Tiffany have to destroy my happiness? I was fed up with her attitude. She didn’t want anyone to get angry with her and didn’t want to hurt others’ feelings…except Salukh?! A man, no, an alien who was always good to her? Gah!

Can I pretend Tiffany never existed (in this book)? Of course, I know what horror she had been through. And I know it was terrible. But come on, she was just ‘TOO MUCH’! Her overly weakness and cowardice totally annoyed the hell out of me. I didn’t even understand what Salukh saw in her!

Well, let’s forget about Tee-fah-nee and just talk about Salukh. He’s everything I can dream of as a hero. He’s so sweet, patient, caring, thoughtful, confident, possessive, and protective. This big blue virgin alien is so precious. Hands down, he’s the winner!

To be clear, I loved everything about this book, except Tiffany.
I loved Salukh.
I loved the wonderful friendship between these human women.
I loved Josie. She’s brave, optimistic, and most of all, she’s a very good friend. Something between her and Haeden was very interesting. I’m dying to know what will happen next to them!

However, it bothered me a lot about the fact that Tiffany was so terrified by the thought of having sex, not to mention men’s touch. But just when she realized that it was time to move on with her life, her problem was suddenly gone. Too easily like that?! She even jumped into bed with Salukh and had mind-blowing sex without any flashback? Hmm…

By the way, this was another one of my fun reads. I enjoyed the story for the most part.

Can hardly wait for the next book!

How we all feel about a Ruby Dixon Not-Hoth book....

How I felt about this book...

I didn't feel the alien love connection this time around with the book. Maybe it was me, maybe my hormonal chocolate levels were down (even though I was eating chocolate while I read this), but it just didn't rock my Not-Hoth blue alien love meter.

It's probably due to Tiffany and her annoying suitors. She's basically the only single & eligible vagina left on the planet, minus Josie, but no one seems to bother her. That was annoying, too, Josie being left out of the vying for attention game. Tiffany is super super passive and scared of upsetting anyone, viewing her position with the sa-khui as tenuous, since she's not a mate and she's not a sa-khui. Due to her scared hen living in a den of foxes routine, she lets all those silly single sa-khui guys continue to vie for her attention, even though she has no intentions of accepting anyone, ever. Looking to help a friend out, Josie contrives to get Tiff's suitors away by staging a competition that will require them to do various tasks, win points, and the winner gets to escort Tiff to the elder's cave. What a lame prize. This whole plot device was annoying as hell. I wanted to slap Tiff and all the men with a dead and decomposing fish, they should be out getting food so they don't have to go all Donner Party on each other, but instead, they're acting the fool for a woman who doesn't want them.

The only male Tiffany is semi comfortable around is Salukh, who is way in love with her and believes her to be his mate, even if they haven't resonated for each other yet. He's confident it'll happen in time and he has to get T used to him. He's helpful and kind to her, always. He's the best part of the book. Their relationship is mainly this for a long time:

But then, TROPE TIME AGAIN, Tiffany asks Salukh, her only male friend, to help her, sexually. There's a reason for her behavior and attitude, another trope, and completely understandable, but I think I might've preferred her as a raving bitch than a complacent doormat.

The finale game of the competition was so annoying. I wish the book had completely omitted the competition. Luckily, the whole winner escorting them part was short. As we all knew would happen, Tiffany and Salukh eventually get together and bang it out. All is happy on Not Hoth again, their cooties are purring, babies are being made, everyone is happen, it's snowing, the end.

Sorry to say this was not a satisfying read, a first in this beloved series. I still love the Sa-Khui tribe, the planet of Non-Hoth and its wacky creatures, and all the cute culture clashes that occur as our Urth Girls are, one by one, claimed by their blue, alien mates. But Tiffany left a lot to be desired as the main heroine of this newest volume of Ice Planet Barbarians.

Yes, I sympathized with her fears, doubts, and heartbreaking and traumatic memories. But her actions were so self-centered, to the detriment of her friend Salukh, causing him to be beaten, jeered and reprimanded by his tribemates, not to mention his own emotional havoc at being kept a dirty secret, and having to stay back and watch others try to claim his mate.

And most horribly to Josie, whom she sent to her possible death in a freaking Ice Hurricane of the Century, so that she could stay cozily indoors and have sex with Salukh. Just because things worked out after the fact does not make it okay for her to play all those mind games and hurt a lot of people that she supposedly cared about in the process. Sorry, can't get behind a heroine who is so selfish and self-centered.

But having said all that, I can't wait to read Josie and Haeden'story. I have a feeling they are going to be my favorite characters of all.

I'm Aileene. And this is my guilty pleasure.

I, also, for the benefit of others who have no idea what ridges are, put the very definition of it at the end of this review.

Do not scroll down! Read the review first.

Alrighty then, on to the review.

Barbarian Prize is the fifth book of Ruby Dixon's Ice Planet Barbarian's series where Tiffany and Salukh were featured this time.

Tiffany, one of the rescued female human who was She was described as the most popular and beautiful single woman in Not-Hoth and because of that, sa-khui males flock to her to win her (hard to earn) affection. She never basked in to all these attentions but rather cringed away.

Salukh our blue alien who was harbouring a secret crush on Tiffany since the beginning. Who saw her beauty and the ugly scars she tried to hide.

Together they created a hard to put down book and I have to give it to our very confident and persistent Salukh as he was always there for her, helped her face her fears and put the horrors of her past behind her.

I gotta say, this premise is one that has been done before. However, there are just enough “things” to make this feel stand out from the others. And I have to say, it's the level of gentleness and caring we got from Salukh as we watched him winning Tiffany's trust whilst coaxing his khui to claim her at the same time. The coaxing part is definitely a winner for me. It has endeared me plentiful.
And of course, how could I forget, RIDGES! This book has abundance of RIDGES. Ms Dixon had indeed spoilt me rotten incorporating this (hard to find) enhancer on every second chapter of the book.
And for those reasons, I found myself enraptured with this book.

There are a few times I gave eyebrow raised due to irritation while reading. I couldn't understand why the other males sa-khui didn't pursue Josie. Josie who was equally single and more than willing to be mated. Did cranky Haeden stake his claim to this mouthy Urth female in secret and will later be revealed in the next sequel?

The author kinda dragged out the story too. The competition was unnecessary but still a welcome additional event nonetheless.
Also, I have to say that I almost took out my stone coated frying pan from my pantry to smack Tiffany at the back of her head because of her stupidity.

But as usual, all is well that ends well with Ms Dixon's blue aliens series.

I felt so bad for Tiffany that she was suffering such horrible PTSD. If you haven't dealt with tragic assault or some sort of traumatic situation you might not understand how your brain will turn off certain emotions and heighten others and it's not a lot you can do about it. Salukh was absolute perfection when it comes to a hero. When dealing with resonation you kinda don't have a choice, but HE chose her , fell for her and LOVED her and the rest fell into play when the time was right. I simply couldn't stop reading this heartwarming romantic and sexy read.

oh Josie how will this play out ??

i LOVED salukh and tiffany so much. if y’all wanna read about beautiful big blue alien men who treat their women like goddesses and quite literally live and breathe to please them, i def recommend this series✨ because the way that this man was so DOWN BADD for tiffany- i was actually gnawing at the iron bars of my enclosure. he was so patient, understanding and respectful with her. when the other men in the tribe were trying to force their way into her space and trying too hard to get her attention, he knew how uncomfortable that behavior made her and he did anything and everything in his power to be careful and pursue her in a way that made her comfortable, making sure she knew that she was in complete control. she has trauma about something that happened to her before her and the other women landed on that planet, so because of that trauma, he knew to take it slowly and literally would have waited forever for her 🥹 he’s just suchhh a cutie ugh😭💙 this all sounds like the bare minimum but there’s so much more to it, these men go above and beyonddd in these books. give me my own barbarian alien immediately, tyvm :,)

Read it 2nd time and am still invested in Josie's story! 😅

This was an okay story. I was more interested in Josie's story than in Tiffany's.

So, this was almost like Kira's story except they are fighting their own demons. Their pairing is also similar. Kira and Tiffany, both are like Eeyore and their partners are like happy Tigger.

So I get another happy ending but as I said, I'm more interested in Josie's at this point.

Tiffany + Salukh

Tiffany is tired of being bombarded by the single bachelors of Not-Hoth. Poor girl can’t even step outside her cave without being harassed. The only unmated barbarian that doesn’t make her feel uneasy is Salukh. She decides that he is the perfect person to help her with her trauma. You see, Tiffany is having issues getting close to the opposite sex. If Salukh will be her pleasure-mate for the time being, just maybe she has a shot at becoming someone’s resonance.

Salukh is taken aback by Tiffany’s proposal. He has been waiting for resonance before claiming a woman, so he begs his khui to make Tiffany his. (And I melt every single time.)

“This is what I have dreamed of. Now, I demand of my khui. Resonate now. Claim her as ours.”

Salukh and Tiffany are one of my favorite couple of this series. I loved that their relationship is a tad more on the slowburn side for an Ice Planet novel. They are forced to take it slow and hide their instant attraction to one another. Mutual pining is becoming one of my favorite tropes in a romance. Seeing Salukh completely smitten with Tiffany while Tiffany is lusting after him is just so, so good.

I also really enjoyed Tiffany and Josie’s friendship. There are some parts of this book in Josie’s POV, which I didn’t mind. I feel like it really helped set up her book which is the next in the series.

Overall, this was a winner. Are you shocked? You shouldn’t be…

MOVE OVER RAAHOSH…. THERE’S A NEW FAVORITE ALIEN IN TOWNNNNNNN 💕💕

I know most people think this series is unhinged and all smut no plot but let me tell you how absolutely wrong you are.

Ruby Dixon has done with her 7ft, golden retriever aliens what many authors of contemporary romance CANNOT COME CLOSE to pulling off. Yes the plot can be a bit repetitive with 19 books and about 11? Novellas… BUT she has this artistic way of being in very real and important issues to these stories.

This book follows the story of Tiffany and my absolutely favorite blue baby ever ✨HAEDEN✨ and the way Ruby handled Tiffany’s trauma having been SA by the abducting aliens was extremely well done. I have read contemporary romances where it did not get handled properly and ugh just makes my skin itch. I think they have one of the best romances in the series and I will die on this hill. The competition was the only aspect I didn’t enjoy because it felt a little pointless but having finished the series I can tell it was also used to show off the remaining single aliens and build up on their characters for when their books came. Needless to say, I am absolutely obsessed with the aliens, the girls, the kits, and of course my queen Ruby.

I started this series for fun and it has changed so much honestly. I will never stop recommending it to everyone so give it a go!

4.5 Stars!

I adore this series! Another hit :) Salukh was probably the sweetest alien so far in this series. He still had a bit of that alpha-ness that I love as well, but the amount he cared and patience he showed towards Tiffany.

"Tee-fah-nee is mine. She just doesn't know it yet."

Tiffany was the an ok heroine, she struggled with being close to anyone because . I understood her hesitance to choose Salukh over her suitors. But at one point I just wanted her to CHOOSE!

Words cannot describe how excited I am for Josie's book <3
