Snow King Catches His Snowflake

Rate this book
After being in a relationship for three years, Noelle Frost is faced with the reality that she was definitely the better half. Her friends, ecstatic she’s dropped the dead weight of a cheating boyfriend, urge her to get away for the holiday and take some time for herself.

Not sure if that’ll fix anything but willing to try, she books a last minute trip to the world-renowned Mistletoe Mountain Resort. Noelle boards the plane with the promise of peace and relaxation on the horizon.

Snow King is stuck in a rut, believing himself undeserving of joy and pleasure after suffering more than one devastating loss — one he still shoulders the blame for. Even with supportive family and friends, he still prefers solitude.

Every year, instead of trudging through the painful memories Christmas brings, he takes a solo trip to escape the holiday cheer. Typically that’s anywhere that doesn’t remind him of the season. But this year, his well-meaning assistant books him a trip to the North Pole reincarnate.

An overbooking incident, one dis-robed guest, and a nasty run-in with pepper spray tell the Christmas story in a way you won’t believe.

I’m claiming Winter NOW. So hands off.

3.25⭐️

This was a fun holiday read, with so many likable characters. With SPICE.. I sense a found family trope approaching and I LOVE IT.
There’s also something about a rich Black man that makes me.. 😏

Tropes:
Black Billionaire ✅
Forced proximity ✅
Small town✅
Grumpy/sunshine✅

This book has one of my favorite tropes, forced proximity. I’ll immediately buy a book if the characters have to share a blanket. However, I like for the slow burn to really burn, I need the tension to be high and I need angst, that’s what makes forced proximity so good! Snow and Noelle were attracted to each other almost instantly, which made me not enjoy certain parts of this story. At times, the chemistry between them felt so authentic, but I truly wished things would’ve happened a lot slower between them, because I enjoyed the plot and the characters in this book sooo much. I hope this becomes a series because I love EVERYONE in this book. 🫶🏾

I stumbled upon A.E. Valdez about a month ago and barreled through her catalog. She was a NTM author that sucked me in instantly. The way she effortlessly develops a vulnerable alpha male character is unmatched.

While the storyline of Snow King catches his Snowflake is not original and has a lot of similarities as other holiday reads, the way she pulls you in with these characters will make your heart flutter with all the feels. Noelle is fresh out of a 3 year bid I mean relationship after she catches her extremely entitled boyfriend cheating on her. While slightly heartbroken she realizes that the relationship ran its course long ago. At the suggestion of her sister and bff, she agrees to take a solo vacation to Mistletoe Mountain Resort. After the resort screws up and double books their cabin, Noelle ends up rooming with Snow King! Snow King ends up at Mistletoe Mountain Resort after his assistant decides to switch up the plans from what usually is a tropical vacation for Snow. At one time Snow King loved Christmas. You’d think he was raised by ole St. Nick himself. After suffering two tragic losses, the holidays just weren’t the same..

The 5 days he and Noelle spent together were magical. The chemistry was potent and the spice was plentiful! These two got down and dirty in the best way possible. A bish definitely needs some feather stimulation after the library scene. The character development and the flow of the story was perfectly paced. It was an instalove that didn’t feel rushed at all. The way it was written would have you thinking these two knew each other for a lifetime.

I can’t wait for Winter and Eve’s story. Those two have a story to tell and I cannot wait to see it unfold. The glimpses we received in this book alone were potent! Those two were fire and ice and I need the backstory ASAP!!

This was a beautiful story, just the right amount of romance, spice, conflict and resolution. It gave all the holiday feels, even though it’s the middle of the summer when I am reading this. Snow and his Snowflake were destined for each other.

I have yet to read a book that I didn’t love from this author. They’re so fun and spicy and the chemistry is always top tier. They have the perfect balance of reality with just a touch of fantastical situations to really make these stories interesting.

I have always enjoyed slow burns more than anything. I find if they don’t spend enough time developing their feelings, it doesn’t feel genuine to me. I would consider this one a faster burn but it was done so well. They were instantly attracted to each other but their connection was obvious. They were both still trying to cope with their past relationships, (Noelle got cheated on and Snow’s fiancé died) so there was still some hesitation to pursue anything with each other.

Overall, is was quick and spicy, it had great characters and a fun setting with Christmas vibes, and I had a great time.

Where is the sign up sheet for the A.E. Valdez fan club? Put my name at the top! I know I’m late to the party but she is easily becoming one of my fav romance writers.
I loved Snow and Noelle. This book contained some of my favorite tropes & I enjoyed every minute of it (forced proximity, grumpy/sunshine).

So freaking awesome!

You all, I am in love with this author and her writing style. She makes readers believe that love is possible. In this story, Snow King continued to suffer after losing his loved one. Noelle was recently rid of her good for nothing ex, and was still reeling from her breakup. She and Snow found themselves in each others universe, and wow, wow, and wow! I loved this couple, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching their relationship grow like kudzu on a vine. And all the while, they spread lots of affection and sweet vibes. Also, both families were extremely funny and added the special spunk to the story. You need to read this story pronto!

Noelle x Snow

A+ Absolutely loved this. This book gave me all the feels. It was extremely sweet and super well developed. The characters were soo loveable, especially Snow. My man was mending a broken heart and grieving. Noelle, too, was also nursing her broken heart back to health when she unintentionally snuck her way into Snow's heart and changed his life.
The love was soo effortless and soo swoon worthy. I hate that it's when Christmas is ending the books are starting to get good. Ms. Valdez is starting to become a favorite of mine.
Hope we get a Winter and Eve story

I received this book in exchange for an honest review of this book!

Snow and Noelle captivated me from both of their introductory chapters! We meet Noelle as she ends a relationship and has to quit her job. While Snow is still trying to heal from the death of his fiancé. They both decide that a Christmas getaway to Mistletoe Mountain is just what they need…until the hotel over books cabin six and they’re stuck spending their holiday together.

As a fan of holiday movies A.E. Valdez’s writings are like a warm cup of cocoa on the sofa wrapped up with you love under the mistletoe!!

An absolute must read for the holiday season!!!

Bundle up babes because we are going on a trip to Mistletoe Mountain for Christmas! I adore A.E. Valdez and apparently everything she writes. This is Billionaire Black Romance with an abundance of love and laughter. My heart is so full and it's all because of Snow King!

First and foremost let's give it up to Amanda for creativity! This is the first in the Three Kings Series centering the Three King Brother's (Winter, Snow and North) and their winter romances. She then doubles down and names the women (Noelle, Aspen and Eve) seasonal names as well! Then tops it off by giving the Noelle the cute nickname of Snowflake and giving the Grinch and Cindy Lou who grump/sunshine vibes. The feels are too much!

Speaking of feels the sibling love is just as strong as the romantic love. The King Brothers are strong but vulnerable and I love to see that duality reflected in Black men. They've all experienced traumatic loss and have coped in various ways but relied upon each other to pull them through. In addition to the sibling protectiveness and banter we see between Aspen and Noelle. Everyone's personalities were well crafted and balanced well before I realized sequels were going to be in store for us.

I loved that A.E. Valdez showcased successful and wealthy Black couples like Ezra and Brielle. They established a long term friendship with Snow and continue to be there for him after the death of Kenna. A.E. Valdez navigated that relationship very well and used it to help tell the backstory of Snow. While it has some heavy topics there are just as many light and funny times to counterbalance the mood. One of my favorites being that TSA agent scene early on. I cackled out loud!

Lastly, I just have to mention this book doesn't let the cold dial back the steam! If you were worried don't be... Remember there is always a hot tub or sled trip with a blanket to warm you up in the mountains!

A.E. Valdez has found a forever fan in me!

holiday with heart

There is nothing like when a book makes you feel all the things. I think one of my favorite things about Valdez’s writing is there are always these gems that feel like they are speaking directly to my heart. The theme of love yourself, know your worth, do the work to heal in all of her books are so incredibly powerful. This is a medium burn, holiday romance that puts you in the mindset of Christmas without being overly cheesy. It’s a hilarious meet-cute, with funny grumpy-sunshine banter, and an almost fated mates feel that I personal love. Snow King is a book boyfriend that will ruin you even though he’s a little bit broken and in major need of a hug. Noelle was so fun, dramatic, and relatable. I don’t think there is anything about this book you won’t enjoy. Be mindful of reading if grief and death of a parent and partner are triggering for you.

I loved Noelle so much. Her whole vibe and attitude was funny and sensitive and so me. I love her personality and how she was herself notated what, she never switched up. And I loved her relationship with Aspen. I love when sisters have a strong bond.

Snow was obviously too good. He was amazing when he started to open up and I loved that for him. I wanted the whole wedding and happy ending for them. Also rooting for North and Aspen now. But him letting go was a moment for me and him doing it for himself was amazing. He did it cause he wanted to move on.

Swoon worthy

Thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas story. I laughed out loud quite a few times and it was definitely a little(ok, a lot) naughty. Had me blushing quite a bit. I loved both characters so much and the supporting cast of characters. I would love to read more about the brothers and even Snowflakes sister.
Definitely recommend this Christmas novel.

Yet another 5 star…A.E Valdez is an amazing author. I love Snow & Snowflake story. Snow was dealing with grief while Snowflake was getting over a fckboy. Noelle had been in a relationship for the last three years and after her breakup her friends encourage her get away for the holidays. Noelle thinks she’s going to have a relaxing trip in the mountains alone, but she soon finds out her room has been double booked but her unexpected roommate is fine and in need of some holiday cheer. Snow lost someone he loved five years ago and every year since he has taken a trip to get away from the holiday cheer and sulk alone. This year though fate has other plans, and his unexpected housemate helps him open up to celebrating this holiday season.

I am a big fan of the forced proximity trope, and this was such a sweet story. Noelle’s gentle and playful personality was the perfect match for Snow and his sullen mood. Noelle and her rambling was cute, I loved her for Snow. Snow was so stuck in a funk after his loss, but I was glad to see how easily it was for Noelle to bring out Snow’s softer playful side. I like how A.E. Valdez gave us grief from a man’s perspective, he wasn’t just closed and cold after his loss he was actually stuck in his feelings and had a hard time moving on, I enjoyed reading that perspective. This was a quick read, but the character development was still successfully executed.

I loved Snow and his brothers Winter and North’s relationship. It’s always great to read about true brotherhood/sisterhood without any drama imbedded in a romance book especially a Christmas story. Noelle and Snow’s banter kept me laughing.

This was my first A.E. Valdez read, I have had her previous books on my TBR for a while and can’t wait to read through her catalog because I enjoyed her writing style. I also enjoyed the secondary characters and I’m hoping we get a book on them as well especially Winter and Eve, I need more on them.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

A.E. Valdez you have made me a fan of your work. The way you snapped with this book is insane. Devoured is not a word to use…I demolished this book in one sitting.

Noelle made me love her when she dumped Malcolm. She didn’t give any second chances. She also saw the importance of taking time to heal so you can move on. She didn’t wallow in self-pity because her relationship didn’t last.

Snow suffered a tremendous loss in the span of a decade. It is understandable why it took him so long to move on and why he stayed reserved. His misery doesn't like company. I respect his friends and family for giving him his space but I give extra respect to those who had to let him know that just existing is not living.

The wake-up call Snow got was needed he was living in a tomb and didn't realize it and he wanted his present and future to involve Noelle he had to let go.

I loved the connection between Noelle and Snow. They are two people trying to overcome some type of pain and they end up finding solace in one another. Noelle was a breath of fresh air to Snow. She shows him all the things he has been missing out but Snow shows her everything she deserves and more. Plus, the nickname he gave her was so cute.

I like the winter theme of the book and how all the brothers' names and Noelle's mash together. It was different and unique compared to the other books I have read.

If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

Another 5 Stars

A black man named Snow let me know I was in for a treat. This was giving grumpy/sunshine mixed with grief, heartbreak and the promise of a new love. It’s not often you get stuck sharing a cabin with a fine brooding millionaire, but after her loser boyfriend played her this was just what Noelle needed. She was a girl I’d love to grab a drink with and I KNEW she’d thaw Snow out eventually. Mr. Snow King, still working through grief (times 2) that stole his joy of Christmas. What he expected would be a solo trip to brood and mourn turned into him falling for Snowflake. I loved everything about this story. The pace, passion, banter, sentimental moments….EVERYTHING. It was absolutely a Christmas Romance and it was done perfectly! This was a great series starter and I’m already looking forward to book 2.

Swoon swoon swoon!!

This is story was a true romance!! It gave me all of the feels and tingles. Snow and Noelle were both amazing characters. They both had their share of heartbreak in addition to Snow dealing with grief. I’m so happy they found each other! From the moment they met it was a good time! I enjoyed their banter and their jokes. Noelle and her pepper spray were a mess. 🤣 Their connection happened almost immediately but it was beautiful to and these two were so deserving of it! If you want a low angst love story that makes you swoon and feel good, I highly highly recommend this one! A.E. Valdez is seriously becoming one of my favorite writers!

This was cute but very cringey - his name was literally Snow King hahahaha. The story was fun, could’ve done without the third act breakup but whatever.

Then the epilogue…Oh god, not the snowflake shaped engagement ring 🤢

So I'm a certified stan of A.E. Valdez and loved this book, not that there was ever any doubt. I received an ARC of this and was finally able to read it and as expected, it blew me away. The author really masters the Grumpy/ Sunshine (with a bit of smart-ass) dynamic and I love that for her. And me. The writing is fluid and easy; none of it feels forced. The character development was solid, the plot unfolded nicely, pacing perfect, and the words had a natural cadence. It makes you want to keep going. You start an AE Valdez book, you don't stop until you're finished.

Onto the characters... top ten cutest things about this book--the title is literal, and you don't expect it to be, lol. Noelle Frost just ended a relationship with someone completely wrong for her and now she needs a break. So she heads to Mistletoe Mountain to get a little rest, relaxation, and Christmas and runs headfirst into curmudgeonly toymaker Snow King, who's been double booked in the same cabin. Let the fireworks commence.

I love how Snow felt a natural urge to take care of Noelle. His guard was up, and rightfully so, but her spirit called him. Soul mates recognize each other. His grief kept him buttoned up, but her gentleness and fun-loving personality won him over, which she wasn't even trying to do--also in the top ten cutest things about this book. I love when the characters fall in spite of themselves.

As far as passion and spice, one of my favorite things about this author is that when she goes there, she goes all the way there. Off the charts, hot like fire. It was great. This book was amazing. Beautiful.

I loved this spicy, Christmas romance. Snow and Noelle's chemistry was electric!
If you enjoy close proximity & grumpy/sunshine tropes, you'll love this book.
The dual POV had me really invested in both characters. I just couldn't get enough of Snow! There's something really dope about a rich black man! And his character development was top tier! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU SNOW!
I would've rated this book 4 stars if the sexual chemistry didn't jump off so fast. I was like okayyy, so we're doing this already (lol). However, I do love that the author incorporated some romantic dates and meaningful conversations...that's when I started to believe in the characters relationship!
This is the second book that I've read by A.E. Valdez and I'm a fan!
