JL has been talking since she was about seven months old. To those who know her it comes as no surprise, in fact, most will tell you she hasn’t shut up since. At eighteen months, she was speaking in full sentences. Imagine if you will the surprise of her admirers when they complimented her mother on “what a cute little boy” she had and received a fierce glare from said little boy and a very loud correction of “I’m a girl!” Oddly enough, JL still finds herself saying that exact phrase thirty-some-odd years later.

Along with the motormouth, JL also displayed a very vivid imagination and artistic ability. The artist first surfaced in way of drawing and painting, then became more apparent with dance. JL was a member of the National Art Honor Society in high school and has won several regional and national titles in dance, specifically tap and jazz. In college she majored in Graphic Art, but chose to make dance her profession. She taught tap, jazz and ballet for fifteen years before settling into her career as a writer.

Today JL is a full-time writer, with over ten novels to her credit. Among her hobbies she includes reading, practicing her marksmanship (she happens to be a great shot), gardening, working out (although she despises cardio), searching for the perfect chocolate dessert (so far as she can tell ALL chocolate is perfect, but it requires more research) and arguing with her husband over who the air compressor and nail gun really belongs to (they belong to JL, although she might be willing to trade him for his new chainsaw).

She also writes under the name Jeigh Lynn

You would never believe how people(In real life, of course.) reacted when I told them about the concept of this book. They were all like "That's disgusting," "How can you read something like that?" and more horrible comments that are not worth mentioning. Close-minded much? I didn't expect them to be 'understanding' but trash-talking is just mean. Will prejudice against homosexuals ever end? It's sad. (In case you were wondering, I live in Iran.)

*Possible Spoilers*

People's nasty comments aside, I loved this book. As I already said, it was my first M/M read and it was surprisingly good. Characters were just lovely. I adored how protective Ethan felt toward Jamie. When they got together in less than 100 pages, I started to think the rest of the book would be boring seeing as they were already together, but I soon realized my assumptions were absolutely wrong.

Their sweet love brought tears to my eyes a few times. Love scenes were initially kinda strange, but I eventually got used to them. In my opinion, M/M M/F or F/F are equally beautiful when there's love involved.

*Spoilers*

One of my favorite scenes would be the one with wedding bands. I loved the inscription of Ethan's ring; It was so beautiful. "I love you, Cowboy. Forever your Blue Eyes." *wipes away tears* Oh, and the part where Jamie tattooed Property of Ethan Whitehall on his...you know was hilarious.

My thoughts on Jamie's siblings:

John: If his reaction to Ethan and Jamie's relationship is any indication, He is really awesome.
Jules: So cute. She never failed to make me smile; I really liked her.

Woah, this is my longest review yet. Please excuse my bad(or horrible?) English.

Reread (Well... parts.)
One of, if not THE, first m/m book I read. Absolutely filthy. This book taught me about butt plugs, making me wise to the ways of the world.

I can't read this book any longer. I don't know if it would improve, but after reading 90 pages and just wanting to put it down the entire time, I'm tapping out.

I don't know what my problem is because so many of my GR friends love this story. Something about the author's style just didn't work for me. It was all too tell-y and not show-y enough, there were too many exclamation marks for my liking, and the writing style just felt too young for the subject matter. I didn't like the characters (they didn't feel real to me) and the story-line felt really choppy. It just didn't jive with my tastes.

I think I'm going to steer clear of this author in the future.

More of my reviews and thoughts on my blog PANTS OFF REVIEWS

So you know I am a huge fan of J.L Langley, her books are all kinds of awesome. While this one not being my fave, it still manages to give me butterflies in the tummy. Its deeply sexual and emotionally rich and I enjoyed it.

Jamie Killian decides he is going to be bold and come out to his father and brother, he never expected it to go down the way it did. With his dad throwing him out the house and all but disowning him. So with no where to go and feeling helpless, Jamie regrets his decision and it is pretty clear that he just effed up his life. Jamie is sincere though, he never wanted to hide from who is, though the outcome was bad he feels lighter.

In this town of cowboys and tractors being gay is not something to be telling the folks about. It’s all manly men that ranch and ride horses y’all. Nobody knows that better than Ethan Whitehall. When he gets a call from his best friend who is saying that his younger brother just got kicked off the ranch, instantly he is sympathetic and he offers a little help that comes in the form of a job and a place to live. Well Jamie wants no charity, but he does convince him that his help is required and then begins the relationship. Well Ethan has known Jamie pretty much all is life, and the annoying boy who use to follow him around is gone, a strikingly sexy man is now in his place and he cannot deny his attraction to the boy pffft man.

Jamie has always wanted Ethan and his wish seems to be coming true, when a lustful kiss leads to other things (by things I mean cock in, “oh am I saying too much”). Things don’t remain peachy for the guys, the whole town suspects their relationship and possibly might be trying to kill them. Run in with store clerks, ranch hands and bullets is telling them all they need to know, homosexuality is not welcomed.

Everyone isn’t so bad, there are a few who have known the guys and wont let a thing like sexuality push them to disown their friends. The worst of the bunch is Jamie’s dad, he is so vile and assholish, I wanted to stick a pitch fork up that extreme tight ass of his. What a prick! Overall did enjoy this book, Jaime and Ethan are a dream, to sexy guys getting it on is my idea of a perfect day. The sex was hot and the relationship dynamic between E&J was super hot. I love the whole cowboy lifting hay, riding horses and rounding up cattle to be extremely sexy plus they are gay, that’s alright in my book. A solid 3.5 on the PL scale.

This was a sweet read, with the right amount of angst (not too much, thankfully) to prevent it from being completely unrealistic.

Dark-haired, blue-eyed, 21-year-old cowboy Jamie Killian is tired of hiding his sexuality and decides to tell his father he's gay. Unexpectedly (to Jamie), his father not only gets the shock of his life but throws him out of the house. Confused and hurt, Jamie is pondering what to do next when Ethan Whitehall, his older brother John's best friend, offers him a place to stay and a job in his ranch, the Tin Star. Naturally, something is bound to happen between Jamie and Ethan soon enough because, unbeknownst to everyone but John and Julia (John and Jamie's sister), Ethan is gay too. A very closeted one, but gay nevertheless. At first, Ethan is wary of getting involved with Jamie, but there's no resisting the young man's charms. However, not everyone in town is happy with having an openly gay man around. Will Ethan come out of the closet and stand beside Jamie against the town's bigots? Will they be able to find their HEA in their hometown? Or will they have to leave and find it somewhere else?

I loved strong, protective and no-nonsense Ethan. I adored headstrong, impulsive and fun-loving Jamie. They were so sweet together! Not even the slightly big age gap between them - Ethan is 11 years older than Jamie - bothered me, because they fit each other. (Cliché, I know, but still true.) There was little conflict in their relationship, which doesn't mean that there was no conflict in the story. Those were caused by other people, namely Jamie's father and some of the town's homophobic troublemakers.

As for the plot, it had some holes. Some were easy to forgive and ignore, as I'm prone to do when I love the characters in the story, but there was one that bugged me big time:

All things considered, I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more from this author - especially the next book in the series, featuring Sheriff Hunter. Yum!

This is the story of how Blue Eyes got his Cowboy (aka the story of how Jamie and Ethan fell in love). *happy sigh*

When Jamie Killian comes out to his father and gets kicked off his family’s ranch, he finds refuge at the Tin Star, another ranch nearby, owned and run by Jamie’s brother’s best friend, Ethan Whitehall.

Ethan doesn’t think twice about offering Jamie a job and a roof over his head. He’s known Jamie his whole life, and even though Ethan never suspected the younger man to be gay (like he himself is), he knows Jamie’s a good man and a hard worker, and he definitely knows Jamie doesn’t deserve the appalling treatment he now faces from his homophobic father (along with other bigoted assholes around town).

Sparks begin to fly immediately, once Jamie realises quickly that the man he’s always considered out of his reach is actually more within the realm of possibilities than he could have ever imagined or dared hope for.

Jamie and Ethan’s love story kicks off quickly, with the two getting together and falling into a relationship very early on in the story, but I was never bored by the fact. I simply enjoyed their relationship and all the interactions they shared with many of the other likeable secondary characters throughout the story. They built a life together, with their own kind of family, on the Tin Star. They also had to continually face down prejudices and even threats (and eventually acts) of violence that jeopardised their hard fought happiness.

This story featured a bunch of my favourite romance tropes, including:

- Best friend’s brother/brother’s best friend
- A gay virgin
- Two tasty cowboys getting it on
- Friends-to-lovers
- COWBOYS!!! (it bears repeating twice)
- Men with pets (Spot, the hat stealing horse, and Fred(rica), the Christmas tree decorating dog, were ADORABLE!)

Basically, I had a lot of fun with this one and I look forward to exploring more from this author’s backlog.

***3 Stars***

This was a nice read. I liked it, but nothing really jumped out and wowed me. It had a good helping of steam with an easy, no angst story.

Ethan and Jamie's relationship was a little too insta and fast for my tastes, but managed to come off believable. They complimented each other well and really wanted to build a home and life together. There was an ease and comfort in their relationship that was really sweet.

The suspense element was weak, and Jamie's dad's behavior felt a little over-dramatized with the hate. Especially since we didn't have much reflection on what their relationship was like before Jamie came out. There were snippets dropped here and there, but no clear picture on what was a supposedly strained relationship already. After everything that happened, I wish the author would have provided some closure on where things stand. I'm still left with too many questions.

BUT, I think the biggest thing I'll take away from this book is the sheer volume of exclamation points! HOLY HELL!!!!! They! Were! Everywhere! Exclamation points are supposed to be used to convey emotion and it looks like these folks were going for the Academy Award.

The author set up the next book for the sheriff, which I'm definitely intrigued about, so looks like I'll be continuing on with this series!!! Exclamation points and all!!

Ethan is a rancher at the Tin Star takes in Jamie (his friend John's younger brother) when he is kicked out of his house after
he tells his father is he gay. Jamie has had a crush on Ethan all his life but never acted on it because Ethan is straight. Right?

Ok of course the romantic connection between Ethan and Jamie becomes intense. You keep turning the page to find out the next scene.
JL Langley uses every emotion to keep you engaged in the story. Humor, sadness, heated passion, love, and all around good
story telling. This is definately another favorite and well worth reading if your a fan of cowboys in love =)

JL Langley has a way of blending humor, sexuality, love, and hate into a seamless tale of romance. There wasn't a time throughout
that I wasn't either thinking "awww that is so sweet", "too funny" "that's not right" or "Ooooo Wee!". This was an easy read that
leaves you feeling satisfied at the end.

Unlike this book i will keep my words short. This book had way too much pointless information. it just went on and on about nothing. If you cut out half the descriptive details and pointless shopping trips this would have been a great read.

I hope i never read the words "daddy," "Blue eyes" and "My Cowboy" again

Overall I did like it but i feel no connection to the M/C's i didn't even care when Ethan got shot. I didn't care when "Blue Eyes" got poisoned and I didn't care about there city council members

My favorite character was Fred, the dog. the only time i cared about a character was when Jackass number 1 hit Fred with the pipe, I felt so bad for Fred and wish Jackass would have gotten beat up or something.

ETA I ranted a little more than i planed on so I guess I did go on and on just like the book

I'm so glad I got the chance to read this one. Kicking myself for not buying everything J.L. Langley had on offer at LooseID while I had the chance :( can only hope she rereleases this one like she's doing with the Englor/Regelence books.

I could definitely see how the author has evolved since 2006. The Tin Star still has all the wonderful characters but the mystery part of this one isn't as intense as the SciRegency romance series. Nevertheless, I recommend it for the marvelous romance novel it is!

This ticks all the boxes ... sexy cowboys; friends to lovers; coming out; David verses Goliath battles to be accepted as gay in a small community ... James and Ethan were a cute couple who, despite their insta-love plot line, leave the reader satisfied with their HEA ... the angst is a bit melodramatic but enjoyable to read despite that ... the secondary characters were fun to read about too ... this is a fun, easy to read, sexy romp ... there are some laughs in the mix too ... highly recommended, especially to readers new to the M/M genre.

This is a sad, sad day. It's the first time I have ever shelved cowboys with boring and No. But this was worse than boring it was, just bad.

I managed to get to the 35% mark and that was enough. You can see status updates, but what I didn't mention was all times their cocks tented, twitched, hardened, ached, went rigid and leaked when they so much as blinked at each other. The dialog is almost non-existent and when it isn't? These two may as well be 15!

I'm horrified that listopia rates this as M/M's finest for Cowboys. Bleh!

Things I Find in My Bookshelves

At twenty one Jamie gets kicked out from the family ranch by his father because he came out as gay. Luckily he gets taken in by fellow rancher Ethan who happens to be his brother's best friend and ... gay. Ethan never saw a reason to be overt about his sexuality but Jamie may change that. Soon.

Jamie and Ethan fall into love/lust almost as soon as Jamie sets foot in the Tin Star. There's little to no friction between them and neither seems conflicted about their sexuality. Jamie's siblings, ranch-ands (save two), and a good chunk of the townfolks are all accepting or unperturbed by the gay cowboys in their midst. That was super refreshing given that the tension or conflict in the story comes from Jamie's father who is just an absolute demon. He hates Jamie and not only because he's gay. He recruits a few douchebags to do his bidding and inevitably things go sideways.

As I said there are virtually no issues between the MC and though it's very insta it felt right. Sometimes the right person is in front of us and these two have chemistry to spare. The sexy times are smoldering.

Despite events this is essentially a light, low angst, smooth & easy read particularly given that it came out in 2006 (before marriage equality was even a reality). My quibble would be that there are a few too many threads left dangling but overall I enjoyed it.

I'll admit it...I don't get it. This book has outstanding reviews, and it so didn't do it for me.

Let me start out with what I liked--

the names.
the beginning.
the first kiss.

OK. Hm. Not much there. Now, the things that bothered me:

1. Too! Many! Exclamation! Points!
2. The internal dialogue sounded identical for Ethan and Jamie. I couldn't tell who was thinking.
3. Also, the internal dialogue didn't sound very authentic. Too many "Oh man!"s and "Ah jeez!"es. They sounded like 14-year-old boys. And while I would've bought it for Jamie, it just didn't ring true for Ethan.
4. Overuse of endearments. Yes, real life people overuse endearments but I don't have to read their dialogue.
5. This book embodies why I'm not a fan of romantic suspense. So often the romance suffers because of the preeminence of the suspense in plotting, and yet the suspense is not well done. The mystery was a big fat yawn. It managed to be both predictable and not sufficiently motivated.
6. And that means there was no real conflict. Every opportunity for conflict was neatly avoided. May-December? No big deal. Best friend banging a younger brother? No big deal. New lover not telling an important secret? No big deal. Gay dudes on a Texas ranch? Except for a few villain caricatures, no big deal. LOTS of potential, and thus lots of disappointment.
7. Ok, so it's m-m--I don't expect a whole lot of well-developed female characters. But it really bothered me the way the sister was portrayed. She played a significant role in the story but was never allowed to develop beyond surface characterization. I've read lots of m-m (already) that did a much better job with much less significant characters.

I'm reading at least one more J.L. Langley because I've already purchased the Englor Affair--and I was planning to read at least one of the paranormal series because it's so highly rated. So maybe this really is just a problem that I have with cowboy books. I guess we'll see.

It started out really well. I don't much like cowboy m-f, but I started this and thought, well, hey! Maybe cowboy m-m is better.

Maybe not.

This was a very sweet cowboy story about a young man named Jamie who has had a crush on his older brothers best friend Ethan since he was a kid.

When Jamie finally admits to his father that he's gay, his father kicks him out! Ethan agrees to take Jamie in, so he's not on his own. Jamie finds out after moving in that Ethan is gay too, although he isn't out of the closet.

Ethan and Jamie are just starting to develop their romance when someone starts threatening Jamie's life!! The two of them have to stay safe, keep their secret, and try to figure out who wants Jamie dead.

I really enjoyed this story. There wasn't any inner turmoil around the characters being gay, it was all about other peoples acceptance. I loved both Jamie and Ethan and I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen to them.

Very fun, sexy read.

This was a bitter sweet story of a cowboy that comes out to his family. He gets kicked out of the ranch, the Quad J, and shunned by his father. He finds a new home on the ranch The Tin Star and finds out that one of the workers there is gay as well.

This story had a bit of everything, a little laughter, some saddness, some romance and some hot sex scenes. I hope to read more of Jamie and Ethan.

To read or not to read, that is the question.
Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The poor writing of early MM romance,
Or to take arms against the sea of prose,
And by opposing, end it. To sigh—to read

one day suddenly John, his best friend and son of the neighbouring ranch's owner, arrives half drunk to his house and discloses that Jamie, his 21 years old little brother has told their father that he’s gay, and the only answer he got was being thrown out of his home, with no money, cloths or horse (and for a Texan cowboy this is the real problem). Jamie, the child who followed them in adoration during their young hood rides; blue-eyed, happy-go-lucky Jamie whom Ethan always has seen as his younger brother ... Jamie... that now appears to Ethan under a new light, because Ethan hides a secret: homosexuality.

But differently from the boy, he has never confided to anybody, besides John and Julia (older sister of John and Jamie) his sexual preferences, and he has experienced them freely only during the University years, very far away from home. When facing the harsh countryside life where gays are not accepted, he has chosen chastity as his way of life.. But when Ethan decides to give hospitality to Jamie and shelter him, Jamie start stirring him up sexually and emotionally surprisingly Ethan finds out that people close to him were already aware of his homosexuality, but trouble arrives by other people within the community. But with Jamie’s help, Ethan will face all difficulties and finally succeed in living his life in full.

Ethan is strong, generous, kind, handsome: the perfect man every woman is wishing for, but he feels no desire for women... Afraid of the reaction of his community he has decided to give up sex., because he feels that as long as withdrawing into himself remains his own problem, he sees no reason to put so many people's lives into a turmoil. But when Jamie too starts to be involved, as well he doesn't think twice upon it and exposes himself: to his qualities also selflessness -a real perfect man. But in spite of all his perfection, it’s impossible to dislike him, he is like a great teddy bear, soft outside and rock strong inside.

Jamie is young, impulsive and outgoing - youthness itself. Full of energy, he wants to change the world like all young people dream of. He always thinks to be on the right side, and is too frank and honest to hide himself. He is a sunny boy who brings laughter light - and love - back into Ethan's life. He reminds me of an impetuous puppy that turns Ethan's life upside down, but I cannot but smile with him and of him. He is like an electric shock able to awaken Ethan out of his torpor.

Sex scenes are sweet and funny; and written in a smooth and light hearted way: in spite of the "hot" subject, this novel is never, never, awkward.

Okay this book was really difficult for me to rate, I know many of my GRs friends gave this 5 stars, but for me the story just wasn't emotional enough, there was no angst, no 'passsion' between these two, no steam, Jamie jumped Ethans bones within the first 2 chapters and that was it. The story that followed was peppered with hot in between the sheets action but not much else. As most of my GRs friends know I like sometimes dark, sometimes emotional reads, this was fun and there's nothing wromg with fun but for me there has to be a great story that stands up if the sex was removed and replaced with a chaste kiss. So when I applied those rules this was kind of Blah. Also here is a story surrounding Jamie which was not impossible but highly unlikely so that was a downer too.

I really wished I could've liked this more but heh ho you cann't win them all.

post script:- I guess most of my friends will be wondering if this has put me off M/M and my answer is no! not in the least! I'm looking for something deep and emotional so I'll need to do some more homework and maybe go for an Historical.

This book was fairly awful. A quick read, but all of the guys talked with exclamation points all the time, and it was far too sappy for my tastes.

The development of the relationship between the protagonists is severely underdeveloped and goes from, "I never really thought of him that way," to "Wow, he's The One!" in barely the span of a heartbeat. And the family relationships (the supportive ones) all felt a bit too unrealistic, too. I can handle romancey stuff, but it really has to be at least somewhat realistic. A lot of this was too contrived and convenient, and it didn't have to be--I'd have bought it all (the main relationship, the reactions of the family, etc) if more time had been spent getting them from the A to B.

The story line itself is good, but the writing and character development leave quite a bit to be desired. I really only finished it because I started it.

Man oh Man, or should I say Man on Man. This book was freaking scorchingly hot. There are no words strong enough to do this book justice. LOVED IT!

This was my first M/M erotica book and I am hooked on the genre now. This book is an erotica, but the romance was so strong in it that it became my focus. The general love these two shared was so profound and heart-warming that it had me praying for a happy ending for them the whole way through. The romance is beautiful and did I mention the sex scenes are hotter than hell? I've been rereading this book for three days because I don't want to take it back to the libraray yet, lol.

A quick summary: SPOILERS

James Killian is a 21 y/o Texas rancher who comes out to his dad and brother. His dad kicks him out and he moves in with his brother's friend, Ethan, to live and work on his ranch. Homophobes in the bunk house try to beat him up, so he moves into the main house with Ethan. The homophobes are fired because Ethan doesn't put up with that kind of hatred on his ranch. So Ethan and Jamie are living together and Jamie discovers that Ethan (about 10 years older than Jamie) is gay and has never came out. Jamie learns this after Ethan uncontrollably responds to Jamie's sexiness, rawrr! lol. They start dating and have to deal with the violent attitudes some small town people (or people in general) place on being gay. So sad but realistic. They make it through all their challanges together and alive and develop a very deep, profound love and affection for eachother. It was so sweet to see their relationship developing. The sex scenes were abundant but not overdone. They were steamy but filled with so much love that they were sweet but oh-my-gosh-this-is-freaking-hot-gonna-pass-out. Did that make any sense? lol I always loved how Jamie was always so eager and happy, sigh, I need to buy this book asap.

Overall, love love loved this book and would recommend it to romance/erotica lovers and people who might be interested in M/M romance. This was probably one of the most believable romances I have read in the past year.

Did I mention the sex was to die for? LOL

READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ADORED this book, these men, and their love story! So profound and beautiful!

Jamie’s tired of hiding the fact that he’s gay, tells his father, only to be told he no longer has a home-Jacob tells him to “get out.” Ethan Whitehall, his older brother’s best friend, offers him a job and a place to stay at his ranch, the Tin Star. Ethan is also gay, but very few people know his sexual preference and although he doesn’t deny it, he doesn’t live an open lifestyle. They were perfect together. Ethan is a quiet pillar of strength, very wise and dependable. Jamie is Ethan’s best friend John’s younger brother. He likes to joke, tease, and is more likely to fly off the handle, but is also a very hard worker and quite capable of handling anything…and he’s horny as all get out. Lots of steamy, sticky hot sex happens, when Jamie and Ethan go at it. Even better than the sex and it was SMOKIN’, is the loving relationship that develops between these two. Ethan is surrounded by the people who work on his ranch, and John hangs around sometimes, but Jamie fills a void for him that he’s missing, a partner, family someone to come home to at night. Ethan surrounds Jamie with love, protection, security, a place to call home. Jamie gives Ethan the strength and courage to live openly as a gay man. Beautiful! When a tragic event befalls Ethan, Jamie is devastated, but he’s the one who takes charge of Ethan’s well being and ranch business. All this for his Cowboy!

It was wonderful how Jamie’s siblings, close friends and many of the townsfolk, supported Jamie and Ethan. It added such a lovely element to the story. Just a great read, with plenty of fantastic dialogue, great secondary characters, a heartwarming love story, and a sweet HEA! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

The Tin Star has been sitting on my tbr shelf for months. I bought a while ago too and I just never read it. I don't know why. It was sweet. Ethan runs The Tin Star. His lifelong best friend John, also runs a ranch with the help of his little brother Jamie. When John comes to Ethan and tells him that that Jamie came out to their father and their father kicked him off the ranch, Ethan does what you do for friends. He offers Jamie a new job, a new home, a new life and a chance at love.

Like I said everything about this book was sweet. Everything also moved very fast. I mean the relationship moved very fast from my friends little brother to sexy boy I can have to possibly the love of my life in less than 3 months. Which I guess I can accept since they have known each other for as long as Jamie has been alive. I guess my complaint would be there were a lot of little conflicts that were introduced as a potentially big deal and then were sort of glossed over or fell flat in their resolution. Again not a huge deal just something I noticed. Oh and like so many M/M novels, the token female, which is the sister, is incredible annoying. I am really always surprised when I read m/m that so many are written by females, because the female best friend or the sister is usually one of the most grating characters written. Julia isn't the worst I've ever read by a long shot, just a general observation about a lot of m/m.

In the end I think the character's were engaging. Jamie is sweet and Ethan was intriguing. I actually would like to learn a whole lot more about Ethan. About his family and I see potential for something in his interest in law enforcement. Seems ranching and law both run in his family. Like I said, I would love to see more about him.

Meh. This, no doubt, is a cute story, but it was far too sophomoric for my taste. It read like it was directed at 8th graders....except for the non-stop...and I do mean non stop...references to hard-ons. I got sooo tired of reading about how pricks hardened in their pants every time they saw one another, which was often. It seemed to go on for ever about totally pointless crap. I didn't really care much about car-buying phone calls to Jamie's sister. And if I had read one more time about "Blue Eyes" and "Daddy" I think I would have puked. Both Jamie and Ethan were nice characters...just nice. Nothing more exciting that nice. There was little conflict in the story to actually develop either character. Both were about the same at the end of the story as at the beginning. All-in-all a rather blah sweet story with no backbone and a whole lot of chit-chat about pointless stuff. If you're 16 and you are allowed to read adult fiction, go for it. Otherwise, this is pretty juvenile.

This was a wonderful story with Cowboys, plenty of steam and two really sweet guys! What more could I ask for!! YAY!!

James Killian is a sweet young man who comes out to his dad and then gets thrown off his family ranch. With nowhere to go, he ends up at the Tin Star, the ranch of his brother’s best friend Ethan Whitehall. My heart broke for Jamie, but the courage and strength he displayed kept me cheering him on! I loved Ethan, older then Jamie, caring, supportive and loyal. What I loved about these two was the way they stuck by each other, supporting each other. When things went wrong they communicated, listened with an open mind and that just made them stronger as a couple. I love that! No stomping out of rooms, wild accusations, or the silent treatment. And while the plot was something I have read before, it didn’t distract my feelings of connections to these characters and this small town. I have to admit all the steamy sex didn’t hurt! *fans self*

I first read this book when it came out many moons ago and I remembered I really liked it, so when it came up in one of my reading challenges, I decided to re-read it. I must say that I liked it just as much the second time as I did the first. I really loved both MCs. I loved that Jamie refused to live a life in secret and denial no matter the cost. I loved that Ethan opened his home and heart for Jamie when he needed him. I really liked all the side characters and loved the animals. All in all, a really great book that I’m glad I took the time to re-read.
