Although they've collected plenty of evidence tying the seven Yotsuba members to the newest Kira, Light, L and the rest of the task force are no closer to discovering which one actually possesses the Death Note. Desperate for some headway, L recruits Misa to infiltrate the group and feed them information calculated to bring Kira into the open. But the Shinigami Rem reveals to Misa who the Kiras really are, and, armed with this knowledge, Misa will do anything to help Light. But what will that mean for L...?
Tsugumi Ōba (Profile in Japanese: 大場 つぐみ), born in Tokyo, Japan, is a writer best known for the manga Death Note. His/her real identity is a closely guarded secret. As stated by the profile placed at the beginning of each Death Note manga, Ōba collects teacups and develops manga plots while holding his knees on a chair, similar to a habit of L, one of the main characters of the series.
There is speculation that Tsugumi Ōba is a pen name and that he is really Hiroshi Gamō. Pointing out that in Bakuman the main character's uncle was a one-hit wonder manga artist who worked on a gag super hero manga, very similar to Gamō and Tottemo! Luckyman in all aspects. Also that the storyboards drawn by Ōba greatly resemble Tottemo! Luckyman in style.
Although they've collected plenty of evidence tying the seven Yotsuba members to the newest Kira, Light, L and the rest of the task force are no closer to discovering which one actually possesses the Death Note.
I’ve to admit that Volume 6 was better again and that it was actually pretty suspenseful. At the beginning, neither Light nor Misa know that they’ve been the former owners of the “Death Note” and L is still in the dark about how the murders actually happen. In order to find the Kira in the finance company Light and L decide to go for surveillance cameras in the conference room and that definitely pays off. To figure out the identity of the new Kira takes them a little while, though. Well, and there is still the trust issue between L and Light.
Their dynamic always amazes me because while they are both extremely intelligent and think about ten steps ahead they still don’t get along all too well. Yes, they put their differences aside for the time being whenever it’s necessary but they are always at each other’s throat as well. Also and that’s something I find very particular: Whenever they run out of words, they resort to fists and violence. *lol* Then again there’s something about L that can really piss you off. So I can’t blame Light for losing his patience every once in a while. Haha!
I think what makes it really hard for L to figure out the details, is that he’s a logical person who thinks things through and comes to logical conclusions but that’s not how the Death Notes work. They are supernatural and L has troubles to wrap his mind around that, which stands in his way of figuring things out. I suppose you’d get the same result if you’d let Sherlock Holmes go for a supernatural case that is actually supernatural. XD I can’t help but wonder when it will finally sink in.
Anyway! What I really liked about this Volume was how suspenseful it was. We’re led to the true identity of the Death Note owner and I’m sorry to say it but I was completely wrong with my assumptions after Vol.5. *lol* Tsugumi Ohba did a great job with that. Also kudos for making Misa a character that acts and thinks for herself. I really liked that she did her own thing in this Volume and it was intriguing to get insight into Rem’s thoughts. It’s interesting that Rem – a death god – thinks Light was a good owner of the Death Note because he used it to do good. Plus I’m pretty certain sooner or later the Death Note will find its way back to Light.
After everything, I wonder how he’ll feel about it once he gets it back, though. Right now, it seems like he doesn’t believe in the possibility that he was the original Kira and to find out he was, might turn out to be quite the shock to this new version of Light. It might take a while until we get to this point of the series, though so I’m very curious how everything will continue in volume 7. After that suspenseful car chase at the ending, everything seems to be possible. The elaborate con to cause the new Death Note owner to expose himself was one hell of a freaky ride and I loved every second of it. ;-)
I’m ready to find out what Volume 7 holds in store for me! ____________________________
Okay, I admit it! This was fun again! Of course, Light and L were at each other’s throat, but that’s nothing new. Still, I really liked how they planned ahead and set a trap for the new Kira. Very entertaining & suspenseful.
Full and short RTC soon! ;-) ____________________________
It’s time to pick up volume 6 of “Death Note”! I wasn’t an all too huge fan of the last one but I have high hopes that this one will be great again. Apparently, Misa is working for Yotsuba-Group and trying to find out who has the death note. This already sounds way more interesting than the last volume. *lol*
The second half saw a significant increase in volume.
Death Note also makes you examine your own morality, which is a fantastic thing. Because Light Yagami, the protagonist (or is he? ), is ultimately the antagonist in this novel. Many people are pulling for Light to win every mental struggle. However, it's possible that the desire to see Light triumph stems from a wish to avoid the conclusion of the story.
Can't wait to read volume 7!

-Didn't find the Yotsuba arc all that engrossing, the characters were boring and too numerous, and their motivations were uninspired and cliched.
-The investigation L and Light were carrying out was also a little dull and rather repetitive, the investigation was only properly entertaining when Misa was involved.
-L kind of annoyed me in this one, I got tired of him over analysing everything. He irritated me so much that I was actually rooting for Light to outsmart him and get away with everything. Both characters weren't as interesting as they used to be.
-Misa was still the best character. I loved how much Rem cared for her and looked out for her, it was really sweet.
-I was glad Matsuda lived, he reminded me of a male Misa, he was so funny and cute.
-Really loved the ending with the chase for Higuchi/other Kira.
The investigations about the new Kira continue, with many twists and a pace that becomes faster. There are less mental games between Light and 'L', thing that appeared a bit too heavy in the recent volumes and I think this book will mark another turning point in the story. There is more space reserved for investigations about Kira and Yotsuba members.
The final part it’s particularly exciting and you can read it in a single breath, with a pace that keep the reader glued up, until an incredible ending complete with a car chase, in a perfect action movies style.
Another excellent chapter of this series. I must say that the idea of a new Kira, doesn’t convince me at first, for fear of get away from the original idea, but I think it was managed best.
Death Note is something I started because I was recommended it by someone who I value their opinion. But my expectations for this series has not been turning out to what my reaction is while reading it. And don’t take -that as a bad idea, because the series is so much more than I had hoped for.
This series has taken me on a whirlwind of adventure with different characters who all bring something new to every volume. Like mentioned in an earlier review, I felt that the manga might end soon but there is always something waiting to keep me in its grasp and holding on.
Light and L are still working together and now they are trying to unveil the new Kira that has appeared inside this business whose main goal is to take out their competitors and rise to the top. However the idea of risking lives is not becoming something Light, L, and the other members of their group to discuss and see if risking the lives of a couple individuals is okay if it means ending the reign of a compulsive killer. There are so many twists and turns in this series that whenever you think something is going to happen something out of the blue pops out and it seems to be that the people in the book who start to have control of the Death Note are becoming more and more sinister. It just blows my mind to think of the power these people have and what they do it.
Overall this is a manga that I recommend you check out and see where it will take you. I am highly enjoying it and will see it till the end.
Tak, mám fakt supr pocit, že tu mám na poličce úplně všechny díly <3. I tohle bude tak epický, že samo slovo epický není dost epický! Btw, zajímavá nuance: profesionální zločinec... A oba jsou moooc hustý.
The entire thing just built up the tension and it payed off very very well in how the main conflict was resolved. The cliff hanger, however, has me reeling.
There are male and female gods of death, but it is neither permitted, nor possible for them to have sexual relations with humans. The gods of death also cannot have sex with each other.
With the completion of DEATHNOTE, VOLUME 6: Give-and-Take, I have officially made it to the halfway point of this series! Unfortunately, it looks like the conclusion of this one is going to return us back to where we started: Light (Kira) versus L. I sincerely hope the author shifts the narrative to something other than strictly being these two turkeys trying to outsmart one another because it’s a bit worn out to me now. I don’t know…maybe kill off a main character or two…shake things up, lol!
L and Light narrow in on the seven Yosuba members (one of which has a Death Note). It felt like an Ocean's Eleven style story as L talks through the entrapment of the new Kira.
Misa becomes one of my favourite characters in this one. I honestly thought she was just eye-candy for the readers in the back, but here she helps discover the new Kira and has some secrets of her own as her Shinigami Rem reconnects with her.
I loved seeing the new Kira about to be caught - there's so much anxiety and tension, you can feel how much adrenaline and fear is coursing through his veins.
AKCJAAAA!!!! jeju, jak ja kocham bohaterów w tym tomie. Uwielbiam humor i rozwój postaci (nawet Misy, chociaż ona jest bardzo płasko rozpisana). Serio, musicie to czytać.
OMG, that was the most interesting part! And Misa was not so bad in it, too. L is going to be diabet if he keeps eating soooo much sugar like that)) He is even cuter now^^ And Light. .Oh Light, you demon! I am so excited to see what will happen... I hope nothing happens to L.)
