Hello,
Hello @helpmedelete1 ,Welcome on Google Cloud Community.
Only 3 predefined roles contain permissions to delete folder:
* Folder Admin
* Folder Editor
* Cloud Deployment Manager Service Agent
Grant either Folder Editor or Folder Admin role at Organization level for your principal, and you should be able to remove directories.

Hi there,
I am having this same problem!
I am the Super Admin for my organization's Workspace account. Our business has closed, and after months of exporting files and cancelling user subscriptions, include for my user account, I got to the final Workspace deletion step only to get the exact message above about having something in Google Cloud, which needs to be deleted prior to closing the Workspace account.
As a low tech organization, I am not a programmer and have never used Google Cloud, so I don't know my way around. But I have the same exact screenshot as the original poster, and cannot delete whatever this Resource is . I also cannot figure out how to update my role. Nor can I see that we have any active projects.
I have spent HOURS on the chat and phone with Google Workspace Help, and they have been unable to help, and keep sending me back to Google Cloud Help. However, as my org technically doesn't have a Google Clouds subscription, I don't have access to Cloud tech support. And I'm stuck in Google purgatory and don't know how to get out!!
Please help. I just need to close this Workspace account!
Hello @jgoldzman ,Welcome on Google Cloud Community.
As it was mentioned in a first reply, you need to assign one of following predefined roles to be able to remove resources from Google Cloud. Even, if you are Workspace Super Admin, it doesn't mean that you will be able to remove resources from Google Cloud, as this is different product. In fact, you will be able to log in into cloud console, based on Super Admin credentials, but roles must be assigned independently. Following documentation contain instruction and video, how to assign roles : https://cloud.google.com/iam/docs/grant-role-console
Feel free to ask if needed.

Hi Damian,
Thank you for your reply. I have followed your instructions and added the roles of Folder Admin and Folder Editor to my Cloud profile. However, I was unable to add the Cloud Deployment Manager Services Agent role.
Despite these changes, I am still unable to delete any resources. Here's what's happening:
When I search for the apps-script folder ID, this is what I see:
Additionally, there are no Projects associated with our account. We also do not have any Cloud Buckets.
I am unsure what the issue might be or what steps to take next. Any additional assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

yes, because this role can be attached only to Service Account 🙂
Did you've checked resources via Asset Inventory ? Maybe via this way you will be able to locate which resources are still active.
IAM -> Asset Inventory -> Resource -> Filter : Folder -> pick folderID

Hi Damian,
THANK YOU!!!!! I went to IAM -> Asset Inventory -> Resource -> Filter : Folder -> pick folderID and found all the projects! I figured out how to add myself as a Folder Admin to each project, which allowed me to successfully delete everything. And then I was able to finally close down and delete our Google Workspace account.
I am super grateful for your help!! And will remember these steps if I have the same issue in the future for the other Google Workspace account that I manage.
Cheers,
Julie

Hi Damian,
I don't see an option to mark the most helpful answer or an "Accept as Solution" button, possibly because I'm not the original poster(?). However, for anyone browsing this thread, the key step for me was the guidance on how to check Asset Inventory. I was initially unsure of what to look for or where to find it, so that information was clutch!
Thanks,
Julie
Indeed, @helpmedelete1 is a post author. Nevertheless, happy to help 🙂

Hey Julie & Damian - I'm also having the same issue. I've followed this "IAM -> Asset Inventory -> Resource -> Filter : Folder -> pick folderID " and can see a list of things, but I'm not sure what to do to delete them, please could you help?
