Ben Affleck has a checkered past when it comes to pants. Earlier this year, the actor/director/Matt Damon bestie ruined a perfectly good outfit with a huge bulge in his pants (not what you're thinking). And yesterday, as he helped promote the $175 million disaster known as Suicide Squad in London, Affleck and his pants met up for another sartorial brawl of sorts.
Spoiler alert: Affleck lost.
Things started off well enough. The 43-year-old Academy Award winner wore a slate gray suit that was like an A-, if we were grading it (FYI, we're always grading it). The fit was fine—even if the jacket could have been a little trimmer and the pants should have been hemmed and tapered —and, frankly, we've seen Affleck ace a suit better numerous times in the past. The man knows better. But beyond shortcomings in fit, the pants were, by all accounts, firmly fastened at the waist, held up by a belt, and fastened. He was on the red carpet, doing his duty, looking good, and promoting this latest flick as, we're sure, some contract stipulated he must.
And then, somewhere later in the night, things went astray.
Later shots show Affleck's pants holding on for dear life, the belt fastened, but not through all the belt loops. The pants not fully closed. Basically, his pants are falling down. It looks like Affleck knows that something isn't right, but clearly no one, not his cast mates, not his highly-paid minders, not even a benevolent bystander warned him that his trousers were making a run for it.
This is not good. We miss the days when a distracting bulge was our main sartorial concern for you. If you need a refresher on how to wear pants, well, we've got one for you.
