This apple crisp with cranberries is best when it is still warm from the oven. Serve it with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream for a decadent fruity dessert. The crisp will also taste great once it has cooled and is at room temperature. You want to make sure the cranberry apple crisp is stored in an airtight container. I prefer to keep my fruit crisps in the refrigerator because they are made using fresh fruit. If you store the crisp at room temperature, it will only last a few hours to overnight.
What Type of Apples Should Be Used in This Apple Crisp
You want to use apples that are good for baking in this apple crisp. While there are many types of apples that can be used, I like to use honey crisps. I have found that this is the best apple. Martha
I love all things cranberry, and I also love freezing desserts. I will definitely be making this to put in the freezer. My question is regarding the crispy topping. Can it be successfully frozen after baking, or should I bake and freeze the fruit portion, then add the topping and bake it fresh for serving?
Great Grub, Delicious Treats
Hi Martha, you can freeze the crisp after it’s made. I like to make individual servings then freeze. If you are not making it to serve right away, I would freeze the topping separate and then add it right before baking.
Barb
When do you add corn starch
Great Grub, Delicious Treats
Hi Barb,
Thank you for letting me know I forgot to add the corn starch into the directions. It is fixed now. You add it in with the sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
