Pots of unclaimed cash are waiting for families in Grimsby and Scunthorpe to inherit where relatives have died without making a will.

There are thousands of unclaimed estates around the country listed by the Treasury on any given day, including dozens in our region. But time is of the essence, because if no one comes forward to claim the assets, they will pass to the Crown.

The latest list of unclaimed estates, updated in December 2024, has now been released by the Treasury Solicitor and includes people who have died in local communities from Brigg to Scunthorpe. A number date from way back so are now close to the 30-year limit for making a claim.

When a person dies without making a will, in most cases their estate will pass to their next of kin. But this is not always a simple process, especially if no surviving relative comes forward or can be traced.

Here is the list of family names of people whose estates are unclaimed, as of December 23, 2024. If you think that you might have a claim, visit the Gov.UK website for more information.
