Common Name: Creeping Phlox, Moss Phlox, Moss Pink or Mountain Phlox.
Description: Phlox is a diminutive ground cover that forms moss-like mats of evergreen foliage. The trailing stems are green when young turning tan and finally woody and knotty with age. Leaves are awl shaped with smooth edges and pointed tips.
Uses: The leaves were used by native tribes to treat boils, and some of the roots were also used as an eyewash by the tribes.
