"Mission Driven " is the phrase that would descsssrigedsd the the Vikings of Tarboro. They had one singular ,goal...WIN THIS CHAMPIONSHIP!! Congrats on your 9th!!!! Congrats to Monroe on their Championship putting the game in their QB's hands. Congrats to West Charlotte on their win. Tough game to win or lose. After the dust has settled....West 3 - East 1. See you yall next year!!!!!

Well as the Warner Brothers cartoon characters would say That's All Folks" Congrats to the Rose Rampants. They single handedly exposed two of our top 3A teams in the conference. Tonight they shut down the Firebirds of Southern Nash and moved on to the third round. The Gryphons season also came to a predictable end at the hands of the 71st Falcons. Nothing else to say except....See yall next year God willing...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!!

Survive and Advance!!!!!! This will be the battle cry all teams competing in tonights second round. On any given night any team has the opportunity to beat another team. The Mighty Gryphons travel to Falcon stadium in Fayetteville to play undefeated 71st. They are built for this moment for sure. The offense has the weapons and the defense is playing at a very high level. The young men will most definitely leave it all out on the gridiron for sure. The Firebirds will be hosting a upset minded JH Rose team tonight. They ousted a previously undefeated Northern Nash team last week. This will be the classic clash of a predominantly running team vs a predominantly passing team turnovers and defense will ultimately decide the winner.
Who will move on to the next level? It's always tough to leave with a victory from Firebirds stadium. Survive and Advance! That's the battle cry! Go Big East!!!!

As for the playoffs, I wasn't surprised that Rose beat NN. They almost beat them in the regular season and it's my understanding NN was without its top running back. Southern will have its hands full Friday, especially if Mitchell is out again. When Southern is at full strength I think they can hang with anybody. Rocky Mount has definitely been the big surprise and kudos to Jason for turning things around. I think it ends tomorrow, though. 71st is a MONSTER and is probably the team to beat in the East.

Looking at the realignment, geographically, a conference of Southern Nash, Rocky Mount, C.B Aycock, Hunt, Fike, and Southern Wayne would make the most sense. There are enough schools for Nash Central to be in a different conference. The wildcard is Northern Nash. Not sure where they will end up.

Every coach and teams want to peak at the right time. Well the Gryphons are peaking and playing some good hard-nosed football going into the playoffs. 9-2 Richlands came into Gryphons stadium and ran head long into to a very strong 7-4 Rocky Mount squad. The Gryphons pounded that "TATA" and that tough Gryphons defense shut down the visitors 24-7. Now the Mighty Gryphons will travel down highway 95 to Fayetteville to face the 11-1 Falcons of 71st who crushed the Cougars of Croatan 49-0. Survive and Advance....Go Big East!!!!!

When the dust settled.....Rose outlasted the the Knights and will move on to the second round to face Southern Nash at Firebirds stadium next Friday. Southern hosted Harnett Central and put the "Stomp Johnson " on the Trojans by the score of 56-14. They were without the services of their #1 running back who was sideline with an injury. Over at the Dog Pound Nash Central was in a heated battle with the West Craven Eagels, but unfortunately the Dogs fell by the score of 65-34. This was the final game for one of the most exciting running backs to play in Eastern North Carolina and the Big East...We will surely miss you "Rocket " thanks for all of the thrills and chills over the years much success to you in the future...we hope to see you on Saturday. The Yellowjackets of Roanoke Rapids traveled to 10-1 James Kenan. The Tigers defeated the Jackets 35-13 to end their season.

Big East Fans it was difficult to watch the 10-1 Knights and 3-9 Rampants face off. This was rematch of the September game in Greenville in which Northern won 42-36. I don't know if they had too much time off or were they taking this game casually. The Knights came out flat on offense and defense on the other hand Rose was sharp quick and focused on both sides of the ball.

Woah!!! Hold up yall!!! There is something brewing in this lower half of this 3A football bracket. If the Fighting Knights dust off the Rampants in their first round of the bracket and the Firebirds dispatch Harnett Central in their first round match, there could be a rematch at the Castle in Death Valley. This time both teams will hopefully be operating at full strength with all of their weapons in total working order. Over at "The Dogpound" the Bulldogs are ready to kick off their 2A campaign. They are looking forward to moving past West Craven and seek to move on to the second round against St Paul's if they win. The Mighty Gryphons will be looking to get past the first round which would be a welcome addition to their successful regular season. So many twists and turns to come this week as teams prepare to do battle under those bright "Friday Night Lights" Man...ain't it great? See you there fans!! 👁❤️BE🏈!!!!!!

It's playoff time in the Big East tonight. #3 Northern Nash host #30 JH Rose, #15 Rocky Mount host #18 Richlands, #14 Southern Nash host #19 Harnett Central, #9 Nash Central host #24 West Craven and #18 Roanoke Rapids travels to #15 Farmville Central. Northern have faced and defeated Rose this season. Rocky Mount faces a 9-1 Richlands team who likes to sling dat tata, but boast a prolific running back. Southern will face a spread team that puts the rock in the air when they step off the bus. Nash Central will also have to contend with a pass happy West Craven squad. Roanoke Rapids will be running into strong Farmville Central team whose record really don't reflect how good the team is at this point. Plenty of games to see so, go out and support our young men as they push for post conference wins. Let's go Big East!!!!

Looking forward to the looming playoffs, the two Rocky ky Mount teams will have some areas to improve on. The Knights defense will have to really shore up the run game and the offensive line will need to slow up the blitz to give their qb a little more time in the pocket. The size of Rocky Mount on the defensive line was slightly smaller than the Knights, but they are very quick very strong and tackle well. I was very impressed with the first step push off the line of scrimmage of the Gryphons offensiveline. Also l was very impressed with the blocking of the wide receiver Corp of the Gryphons. The only glaring weakness of their defense are the defensive backs, because of their smaller statue teams will seek to challenge them. That being said, l believe if these two good teams made the necessary adjustments they will be an absolute tough out in the upcoming playoffs. I will be crazily supporting our teams all the way. Good luck to yall!!!! 👁❤️BE🏈!!!!!!

Big East Fans were treated to a once in a decade performance last night. Rocky Mount and Northern Nash put on an absolute show!!!! Firstly, l want to congratulate the 2024-25 Big East Football Conference Champions....The Fighting Knights of Northern Nash!!! If you truly love high school football then last night would have been the equivalent to eating a gourmet meal with dessert. The contest couldn't be settled in regular play, but they treated us to a dramatic overtime ending. For me...it's been over twenty years since l have seen a game played bye these two juggernauts and rivals at this level. The Mighty Gryphons have absolutely nothing to hang their heads about you left it all out on that 50x100 young men. In a back and forth slugfest, these warriors displayed high levels of execution and outstanding discipline. My hat goes off to the head coaches and their staff, because you not only prepared your respective teams you call a perfect game!!!! Congratulations!!

Well Big East Fans the two top teams in the conference square off tonight to decide who will capture the coveted Big East Conference Championship. The Mighty Gryphons of Rocky Mount High School plays host to the Fighting Knights of Northern Nash High School. These two teams are some what similar this year in that they both possess a strong defense and offenses capable of putting up big numbers. The Knights are undefeated overall and in conference play, while the Gryphons have two non conference losses. But if you know the history of this rively then you know that records go flying out of the window when these two teams meet. I wouldn't miss this game for love or money, because their will be some hard hitting bone crunching gridiron football played tonight. Soooo"RIDDLE ME UP OR RIDDLE ME DOWN ..WHO WILL WIN THE BIG EAST CROWN"? I don't know, but it will be decided underneath those "Friday Night Lights"!!!! See ya there..l can smell them neckbones boiling now! I❤️Big East 🏈.

Sooo....go tell grandma to start rolling them biscuits out, making that sweet tea and thowin some neckbones and collard greens in that big pot cause it's ON YALL!!! Two hard hitting defenses!!!! Two hard running offenses and tho in a little something, something from the aerial tata attack and you have the makings of a shonuf BACK YARD BRAWL in Nash County. Lawd, lawd, lawd...l ❤️Big East 🏈👀

There was one word that reverberated accross Nash County Friday night was DEFENSE!! DEFENSE!! DEFENSE!! and you can sprinkle a little taste of offense just to give it a bit of flavor. The Gryphons "NEST" was rockin when the RedRams came calling and they were greeted with a steady dose of shutdown defense and Wing-T offense. When the dust settled the Mighty Gryphons posted a 54-14 dominating and putting in the Big East Championship with an undefeated conference record against the Northern Nash Knights. The Knights stadium is a buzz with new renovations, but Death Valley is Death Valley and the Firebirds found out from the git-go! Southern couldn't move the tata without their star running back out with an injury he received in a brutal hard hitting game the week before. Northern's defense was suffocating and relentless. Holding the Firebirds to a little over a hundred yards for an entire game while posting a 42-13 victory is no small feat, but the Knights were totally dominant.

Starting three Sophomores in the defensive backfikeld will get you that. I knew that inexperience was going to be an issue but figured there would be some improvement. Kudos to Brian for going for the win against RM. I didn't see the game but I know Mitchell was injured at some point in the second half and didn't return. I know they say next man up and all that, but when you lose the states leading rusher it changes the game. Haven't heard any updates on his availability for this week. I don't see them beating Northern even with Mitchell because of their pass defense issues. Without him? Probably to tough a task. Hoping for the best, expecting the worse.

Southern has always been a physical team, but it seemed to shock them Friday night that Rocky Mount matched their level of physicality. Toss in an effective passing attack and you have a recipe for trouble with the Gryphons. Northern is the juggernaut in the Big East Conference for sure. They have so many weapons and tremendous speed. Next week will be a real test for the Firebirds for sure. If both Rocky Mount and Northern Nash remain undefeated next week, it will set up a historical rival for the BigEast Championship!! Man this is good stuff yall!!!! I❤️BE🏈

Who is favored in the Big East? Well, the next couple of weeks will be very interesting. Northern Nash and Rocky Mount sit atop the Big East Conference at 4-0. The Mighty Gryphons will entertain the RedRams of Franklinton next week in an effort to remain undefeated in Conference play. While Southern Nash will go into Death Valley to try and play spoilers and give the Knights their first loss. Sherlock Holmes would be intrigued!!!! There will be some great Big East Football play going on as we wind down this Big East season. BBBE🏈❤️🔥

Running back ran the Tata in for the first TD. Then the Firebirds fullback plunged into the in zone to tie the contest. But rather than kicking the extrsy point to extend the game Southern coach decided to test that bend but not break Gryphons defense one more time. That was a bad mistake, because just like the Spartan 300 wall of warriors stood defiant, so did the mighty Gryphon's defense and stopped them dead cold in a spectacular goal line stand to win the game. If defense does win Championships, the Gryphons are well on their way. Ohhhh this big East Conference race is 'SMO KIN'🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The old addage is....Defense wins Championships. Last night l witnessed two defenses that would live up to that adage. The first half was one sided in penalty department as the visiting Gryphons were saddled with seven infractions, with were mainly against the defense. The firebids found it very difficult to move the pigskin on stingy Gryphons "D". The Rocky Mount offense was very quick and deadly when given the correct play on time to keep the momentum and drives at a high level. You don't see the Firebirds defense on it's heels much, but the Gryphons offensive line and running backs wore down a usually stout Southern defense. After trading tough touchdowns the the game the Gryphon's defense stood tall on the goal line and forced a three and out. The would be winning field goal was missed and overtime was set. Good to have you back, but I must correct you. Southern Nash won the conference last year. Like you said, so far the season has been pretty predictable as the two top dogs have shown their teeth. I haven't seen Northern yet, but I can tell you that offensively Southern MAY be better than last season. Pass defense is the biggest concern plus not beating themselves like they almost did tonight against Central. Battle is a legitimate passing threat (only a Soph) when given those rare chances. Mitchell is next level good. One of the fastest backs I've ever seen at SN, and that's saying something.

Sitting at 4-0 and looking impressive are the Yellowjackets of Roanoke Rapids. They have seemed to overcome the young players of two years ago and are emerging as hopeful contenders in the Big East Conference. Those Bulldogs over at Nash Central are doing what they best....grind out wins. The 3-1 record is really solid with a hard fought loss at home to Southwest Edgecombe who fell last week to the Vikings of Tarboro. The Bulldogs will also be on the hunt to upset the leaders in the conference hoping to clinch that Big East Conference Crown.

Hello my high school football fans!!! I am back..finally. Life is tough, but l have to move on. The Big East is shaping up to be interesting and predictable. The Knights of Northern Nash are surging forward just as they did last year. Like in the famous words of the characters in the cartoon movie Bae Bae Kids.."We don't die We..... multiply", the Knights just reload every year. Their non conference schedule was a tester a best, yet they approach the conference schedule undefeated with a well deserved 4-0 record. Also sporting an undefeated record are the Firebirds of Southern Nash. Just like the 300 Spartans they too have reloaded with emerging talent as well as All Conference returning gridiron beasts. Their non conference schedule was an exercise in "Git her done". Undefeated with a 4-0 record, Firebirds are also pushing to claim that top spot in the Big East. King of the Big East are the The Northern Nash Knights. They claimed that mantle for three consecutive seasons.
