margin: "FRANKIE LAINE (1913 -) Pop singer who made several light musicals
in the 1950's such as 'When You're Smiling.' Introduced 'Jezebel'". Brief
magazine biography affixed to upper left margin of verso, which has ink notes
(unknown hand): "August 10, 1952/'What's-My-Line'". In 1952, Laine
appeared in and performed four songs in the feature film, Rainbow 'Round My
Shoulder. The vocal repertoire of singer/songwriter and sometimes actor
Frankie Laine (1913-2007), born Frank LoVecchio, was diverse: pop, jazz
standards, country/western and devotional. His U.S. popularity was at its
peak from 1947-1954, when he recorded such hits as "Mule Train", "Hey, Good
Lookin'", "I Believe" and the theme for the classic Western, High
Noon. Laine, who had 21 gold records, remained popular in Europe
much longer, touring there with much success. Slightly creased. Light show
through from verso at upper right margin, touching the "ine" of Laine.
Pinhead-size ink spot at lower right blank edge. Overall, fine
condition.
