Biography
Russian prima ballerina Anna Pavlova (1881-1931) studied at the Imperial School of Ballet at the Mariinsky Theater (1891), joined the Imperial Ballet (1899) and rose to prima ballerina in 1906, having danced the title role in Giselle to considerable acclaim. Pavlova, who choreographed Autumn Leaves (1918) herself, was best known for her performance in The Dying Swan.
