Say it ain’t so.
After many long, good years together, Harry Styles and his long locks — which have gained a following almost as robust as the One Directioner’s own — are parting ways. This, at least, according to the singer’s latest Instagram, which sees his fist holding a dismembered braid. “Whoops,” reads the caption.
Fans have already begun mourning the break-up on Twitter, using all caps to express their pain and also launching the hashtag #HarryTakeASelfie begging the star for a first glimpse of his new look.

The loss was not in vain, however. Styles also hashtagged #LittlePrincessTrust, a reference to a U.K.-based charity of the same name which uses donated hair to create wigs for children in need. While some followers are (reasonably) upset over the loss, others have said his actions make him an “angel.”
While hair loss can be difficult for any young child, but we can only imagine that the recipient of Styles locks will be extra thrilled.
