Phlox
Here are a few shots of my phlox garden. I was a little worried when I saw the powdery mildew on them earlier this summer, but they bloomed beautifully!
The smell is so nostalgic.
I love all the colors, but the white really seems to make the others pop!

Yes, cultivar selection is important like Douglas says. I have had mildew on 'David' but far less than most other cultivars. It's also a beautiful clear white that stays white. Really pops out in the garden.
