Honest Food Talks is an independent food and drink media publication founded in 2019 that aims to help you discover new Asian recipes, ingredient guides, kitchen hacks along with reviews of Asian restaurant and snacks.
Founded by Victoria Yap, Honest Food Talks started as a humble Asian food blog reviewing London restaurants. Fast forward to today, Honest Food Talks has evolved into a trusted resource for Asian food lovers across the UK and the US, offering an engaging mix of recipes and insights into the vibrant world of Asian food and drink.
Our Mission
At Honest Food Talks, we strive to achieve three key objectives across all our channels:
Authentic Asian Recipes: We curate and thoroughly test our recipes in our kitchen, ensuring they're true to the flavours we know, accessible and healthy.
Showcase Asian Food: We aim to uncover and promote Asian delicacies that deserve your attention. Our dedicated team reviews, writes and edits in-depth ingredient guides and snacks reviews that we find intriguing (and hope you do too).
Provide Honest Reviews: We never mince our words or shy away from our honest opinion about a particular place, whether it is good or bad. It is our motto to talk truthfully about food, 食话食说 (Shí huà shí shuō).

Honest Food Talks is operated by a team of home cooks and food journalists located across the UK, Japan, Singapore and Malaysia.
With each team member bringing unique perspectives and culinary insights, Honest Food Talks has a library of authentic, straightforward recipes for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Singaporean, and Malaysian dishes.

Victoria Yap is the Founder and Editor-in-Chief for Honest Food Talks.
Victoria is an experienced food writer and editor, previously recognised as Writer of the Year nominee for Be Inclusive Hospitality Spotlight Awards in 2022 for her creative work in the Food & Drinks space.
She develops the Chinese takeaway and Bubble Tea recipes on Honest Food Talks.

Ruiz is the Chief Knowledge Officer and Editor of Honest Food Talks.
Having spent 7 years in Tokyo and roots in Malaysia, he specialises in Malaysian and Japanese cuisine and is often quoted in news outlets for his opinions on Asian food.
He develops the mochi and matcha recipes featured on Honest Food Talks.
