M4 Attachments

The M4 assault rifle is that best friend that has been with you since the beginning, and while you may not talk as much anymore, whenever you hang out again, it's like you never stopped. This weapon and its receiver variants are unlocked from the start and provide a number of offerings for you to enjoy out of the gate. It's a solid weapon and serves as a wonderful jumping-off point.

Receiver

Think of the receiver as a variant of the weapon that can use the same attachments between each other. Swapping receivers is, in essence, an easy way to carry over a weapon build from one gun to the other without having to reapply all your attachments.

Magazine

The magazine is one of the most straightforward attachments to understand. Larger capacity magazines mean more bullets to shoot your opponents with, but typically at the expense of your overall speed in various areas.

Ammunition

The various ammunition types in Modern Warfare 2 provide players with ways to not only deal additional damage to enemies and vehicles but also debilitate them with various effects, such as reducing their opponent's ability to sprint or slow their healing.

Underbarrel

At the expense of being able to aim as fast, underbarrel attachments' will improve the weapon's stability when shooting, assisting with accuracy and keeping the gun from swaying too far from where you are aiming. This attachment slot can also provide you additional weapons to use while the weapon is equipped!

Muzzle

Guns are loud and can be very bright, the muzzle attachment looks to address these shortcomings. At the expense of things like range or your range, muzzle attachments and make your shots nearly silent, or reduce your visibility while firing, helping to keep you from enemies' radar.

Barrel

If your looking for some improved range and accuracy you should take a look at a gun's barrel options. The longer barrels will offer increased range and accuracy at the expense of aspects like your movement or aiming speed, while the inverse lets you move and aim faster at the expense of range and accuracy.

Laser

Sometimes, a scope just doesn't cut it, and you need a bit more assistance lining up those shots. That is where a good ol' laser can come in and help out. These handy devices strap to the front of gun and will cast a laser point wherever it is you are pointing, with usually only downside is that it can be seen by enemies.

Optic

A gun isn't much use if you can't hit your enemies, and scopes and other optics offered here provide you a wide variety of options to take advantage of. Different types of crosshairs, infrared, toggleable magnification, and more are at your disposal. You will take a small hit to how fast you can look down the site, or long-range scope shining in the sun, you will be able to see those enemies of yours whether they are right in front of you, or across the map.

Stock

Stocks can fulfill many different purposes ranging from improving your aim by keeping the sway down to letting you sprint faster. These are great options to further refine a build idea you have or improve areas that your other attachments have hindered.

Rear Grip

Much like the stock options, rear grips can improve many different areas or attempt to lessen the detriments posed by other attachments. Whether taking a rear stock is worth one of your five attachment slots will depend completely on what you are going for.
