Starkiller Base is a First Order facility in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Starkiller Base is home to a new superweapon with the power to destroy star systems. [1]
A recent posting on StarWars.com confirms that Starkiller Base is in fact an ice planet and hosts the First Order's ultimate weapon.
Images from a Korean TV trailer reveal 5 new details about the facility believed to be Starkiller Base.
The new image show the reverse angle of the image above, with the perspective adjusted to look down from the podium to the legions of Stormtroopers below. Check out these new details:
1. A close up of the image clearly shows a shiny-helmeted officer standing behind the main figure at the center of the stage, almost certainly Captain Phasma.
2. Speaking of the figure, we get a better look from behind, but we're still not sure whether this is Kylo Ren, General Hux, or Supreme Leader Snoke.
The shape and body of the hair may actually indicate Ren, but it's impossible to tell for sure.
3. Both sides of the plaza are flanked by the new white-winged TIE Fighter models we've seen hunts of previously. There are tons of the things lined up, an image evocative of WWII or Cold-War era displays of military power in dictatorships.
4. A new, unidentified model of vehicle appears on the left side of the shot, though whether these are spacecraft or ground combat tanks is unclear.
5. Also note the presence of Snowtroopers on the platform, and also the presence of black-uniformed First Order soldiers in formation.
Description
Starkiller Base was announced on July 10, 2015 during the SDCC Star Wars panel. Starkiller Base's name is a nod to Luke Starkiller, the protagonist's name in an early draft of Star Wars: A New Hope, as well as a character from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
Starkiller Base is the secret base of the First Order. It is the icebound facility portrayed in several preview shots from the trailer and promotional materials.
Starkiller Base appears to be home to Stormtrooopers, TIE Fighters, and defensive heavy weapon emplacements. Starkiller Base is commanded by General Hux. Kylo Ren has also been pictured at the ice planet assumed to be Starkiller Base
