Learn moreEfficient, smart, long-lasting: Modern LED lighting is the future
The era of traditional incandescent and halogen spotlights has given way to the future: LED lighting. The advantages of this modern light source are compelling: LEDs offer up to 85 per cent energy savings compared to conventional light sources, which translates into noticeable reductions on your utility bills. Furthermore, LEDs outlast other light sources by up to 20 times. This longevity can make a significant difference whether the lamps are used daily or sporadically. Opting for LEDs means you can enjoy long-lasting illumination from a single light source, drastically reducing resource consumption and waste, and providing long-term savings. While the initial investment in LED lighting may be slightly higher than with other lights, the extended lifespan and lower energy usage quickly counterbalance this cost, leading to savings over time. One more advantage worth noting is the compatibility of LEDs with our smart home solutions. This allows us to leverage LED technology for intelligent home lighting solutions. Specifically, we utilise LED lights for smart lighting, enabling you to control your lighting atmosphere via an app.
This is why our designers are excited about LED lights
LED lighting, with its minimal heat generation, not only enhances safety but also opens the door to innovative designs. LEDs offer intense light output while maintaining a compact footprint, enabling the use of slender light strips, tiny lighting points, and other design elements in areas where traditional light sources are impractical. Consider the impracticability of a heat-emitting halogen spot light in a compact wardrobe - a problem now easily solved with LED lighting. This technology allows us to illuminate spaces previously off-limits due to heat concerns or space limitations. Explore those solutions in one of your local IKEA stores. From LED lanterns and integrated lighting to outdoor lights and light chains, LED lights have revolutionised design possibilities at IKEA, enabling innovative creations that were simply inconceivable a few years ago.
Minimal effort, maximum impact: The power of indirect lighting
Unlock the secret of atmospheric lighting in any room with one simple technique: 'indirect lighting'. In this method, light isn't projected directly into the room. Instead, it is bounced off walls or the ceiling, resulting in a diffused, soft illumination. This serene, gentle light is ideal for living rooms and bedrooms, particularly when incorporated in table or desk lamps. For these spaces, we recommend warm light. However, the freshness of cooler light suits bathroom and office environments. For kitchen lighting, cool indirect light is appropriate if the space is mainly used for cooking. If the kitchen also serves as a dining area, a warmer indirect light might be more inviting. The colour temperature of the light, measured in Kelvin (K), indicates whether it's cool (over 3000 K) or warm (under 3000 K). You can typically find this information on the lamp itself or the LED lighting packaging.
