Important notice: IKEA informs customers that pouring very hot beverages into a POKAL drinking glass may result in sudden breakage and scalding or burns
POKAL drinking glasses are made from tempered glass, which has several safety benefits over non-tempered glass. However, glass is a fragile material that should always be handled with care. Sometimes the effect of a knock or scratch remains in the glass but doesn’t cause it to break immediately. On rare occasions, a damaged edge or a scratched surface can cause tempered glass to shatter suddenly. If a POKAL glass breaks while being filled with a very hot beverage, this can result in scalding or burns.
To reduce the likelihood of this happening, we recommend putting the glass down instead of holding it in the hand when pouring a hot beverage into it. Also, avoid exposing the glass to sudden temperature changes, for example pouring a hot beverage into a cold glass. Damaged or chipped POKAL glasses should not be used.
The above is relevant for the following POKAL glasses: (photos show variants with clear glass)
- POKAL glass 27 cl, clear glass and all colours
- POKAL glass 35 cl, clear glass and all colours
- POKAL glass 65, cl clear glass
