We do highly recommend attaching the tops to the bottoms if you are stacking the units. Just makes for a more stable situation. We have a pair of rambunctious pups and a full speed ahead 4 yr old grandson so we took no chances. 5

Hinges are a nightmareAnnI bought 3 and could only put together 2 as 1 was damaged. Unfortunately I live 2 hours aways which means another trip to Ikea to return. For the 2 I assembled the hinges were a nightmare and the doors are not flush. 2

hinges flaw an otherwise excellent cabinetColleenBought this in store to provide extra kitchen storage in small apartment. Very easy to assemble, good quality wood, loved the finish. Then came the hinges (the doors are fine). Problems noted by others similar to mine - poor coordination between screws and holes, adjusting screw for lateral adjustment impossible to turn without dethreading. Even tried changing out hinges and doors, soaping and screwing in/unscrewing before reinstalling in cabinet. Alas my beautiful cabinet now such a disappointment. Do not want to buy new hinges just to replace adjustment screws, and fear a re-experience the same issues. Very disappointing especially given how beautiful the cabinet would be if the doors could be hung properly.
btw - I am very experienced at Ikea assemblies and this was so disappointing because of the mismatch between cabinet quality and hardware...
giving this 3 stars instead of 2 because I can still use it for storage...it's just ugly without the doors3
Terrible hinges-doors hang askewHeatherI love the look of these cabinets but the hinges are defective, making it almost impossible to install the doors. The holes where the screws go through the hinges into the cabinet are not machined correctly (they are too small and there are rough edges that stick out too much) and don’t line up with the pre-drilled holes in the cabinet. And, because the hole where the screws go to the cabinet are so small with so much of an edge sticking up, you cannot adjust the height of the doors to make both doors even. Unfortunately, this appears to be an ongoing problem because I came across many similar reviews online, going back 3 years. Too bad I only came across those reviews while trying to figure out how to fix the hinges. I would not recommend until IKEA fixes the hinges. 3
Perfectly Refined.RobinWe bought a pair of black cabinets with the glass door tops. We added a custom crown and Uba Tuba granite between the top and bottom. And lights! It looks like a custom high end piece.5
